You mentioned that the exhaust side brackets are not matching up. I wanted to see if you could explain in more detail. Would you be able to send a picture?

Jenny N - 05/19/2022On the driver side you take down the exhaust mount, 2 bolts, metal bracket with rubber that the muffler attaches to. The hitch goes up where the mount would go then you reattach the exhaust mount on top of the hitch using 2 longer bolts included with the hitch. The 2 holes of the hitch do not line up with the 2 mounting holes on the body of the car. I could only attach one. I’ve read this review before, prop not your website but in regards to the brand hitch. I didn’t feel like taking it down and drilling a larger hole so I bolted one bolt on and had to go to work.

The hitch was delivered in a timely fashion, it fit exactly as advertised. The installation video on the website was very helpful and was an important factor in helping me decide that I could do the installation myself. The wiring harness was also easy to install, but guidance for where and how to route the wire to the battery would have been helpful. I look forward to towing my small fishing boat and small sailboat, something I have not been able to do for several years.

Both boats have seen lots of use in the past year. I also converted the sailboat trailer to haul wood for a new lean to and deck rails. Also bought a small pop-up last weekend and the Jetta pulled it just fine. The only issue has been lowered clearance when leaving driveways.

I was happy with the price, the fast shipping, the quality and how easy it was to install. It took me about 90 minutes. The instructional videos on [online] were very helpful.

Overall Im happy with the hitch. Its been great using my Jetta to pull my utility trailer rather that having to use my gas guzzler SUV. The one thing I dont like is how low the hitch is to the ground...I have to watch out for steep inclines where the hitch will hit the ground.

The hitch has been great to have. My car is a sedan and is low to the ground and there are many culverts in California for rain water run-of and sometime I wish the bottom part of the hitch was just a little shorter so it didn't catch going over the bumps. This has been a good product and would probably not be an issue for a truck or SUV

Nice quality hitch, heavy duty material with a nice finish. Shipping was super fast. Now for installation, watch the video and look at the directions to make sure you use the correct holes. The supplied pull wires are fantastic and make installation a breeze. The only draw back was my hitch was apparently bent ( im guessing during shipping by the looks of the box) and i had to remove passenger side nuts and drop the hitch back down to do some straightening. After that it went into place easily. I was able to install it myself with the help of a floor jack in less than 2 hours even with the bent pc. Great Hitch

It sounds like that the side brackets were knocked out of alignment which can happen while in transit to our facility or to you. We do have a FAQ that can assist with moving the side brackets of the hitch back into alignment to allow for installation.

First, this took 20 minutes if you’re good with tools. It looked daunting and I was skeptical at first. Having now done it, it was absolute cake. etrailer includes everything! 1 “pro tip” I suggest for the Jetta, when placing the carriage bolt that mounts parallel to the ground on the passenger side, keep the fishing wire attached. Thread the fishing wire through the hitch when mount and push the bolt back into the frame rail. This accomplishes: wash of mounting and 2 not losing a bolt in the frame rail. I’m impressed with the quickness that it was shipped, ease of comprehending the instructions and ETRAILERS excellent figment guide. 10/10. Ps. This hitch is SOLID.

Took me 3 hours...doing it solo without the luxury of an air conditioned shop in FW Tx.
The kit was super easy to follow...although I watched the video a couple of so I never really looked at the paperwork except on how much to torque the bolts.
I don't know if I dorked up the install but the hitch doesn't appear to be as snug against the bumper as I would have liked. But I can put a bike rack and a small cargo carrier on it..so it fits my needs. So I wasn't worried about the wire harness.

The hitch arrived protruding from the box and may, or may not have, been bent in transit. The response to my inquiry boils down to “you can bend in back,” which hardly feels like customer service. If there are any issues with installation I’ll be coming back for a full refund.

It is very common for a hitch to show up flexedbent during shipping. Because a hitchs mounting brackets are made from mild steel, the mounting brackets may flex during shipping. The mounting brackets need to be able to flex with the vehicle frame as the vehicle travels over the road and hits bumps or potholes. The hitch also needs to be able to withstand changes in temperature without being damaged. I have an article listed below for reference.

I installed the hitch this afternoon. Took about three hours. Installation wasn't difficult. Anyone who is mechanically inclined and knows their way around a tool box cam handle the situation. Would recommend using deep sockets and shallow ones bottom out. I would also recommend installing the hitch while the vehicle is on ramps. Make sure the parking break is in gauged and vehicle is in park.

The hitch was really simple to install except it didn’t come with the metal washer for the carriage bolt in the spare tire well or the hitch pin I thought was also supposed to be included.

Well built hitch. Clear instructions.. Packaged well, arrived in perfect shape. Installed in approx 2 hrs. No drilling, minor trimming of undertray needed ( full size template would be nice) but careful measurement per instructions gets it done. No ball mount carrier included in this one, I had one from my other VW Curt hitch that is the correct height. I will be towing a pop-up camper, and a bike carrier with this hitch, it is easily capable of both tasks.

Working great, black finish is still perfect with no rust after a year. Trailer gave codes on my 2017 VW, so I converted all the trailer lights to LED, no more dash lights, trailer lights are brighter too.

Well to be honest it has worked exactly as I intended. IF YOU USE IT TO PULL A TRAILER DEFINITELY GET THE BALL RISER or your trailer will sit an inch off the ground. I use it to pull a jetski behind my VW Jetta and I haven’t had any problems with it, other than that it’s low to the ground and drags on uneven pavement. There really isn’t much to be done about that because it’s a sedan and they sit low t the ground. I’d recommend it to a friend. Good value for the price. I just had a local mechanic put it on for me.

- Trailer Hitch Ground Clearance On 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagwenThe hitches that we carry for your 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen, have very similar clearance distances. I have attached a photo of a hitch and the clearance distance marked. The 10-1/2 inches is from the top of the receiver opening, so the bottom of the receiver will be approximately 8-1/2 inches from the ground. I am not aware of any hitches with a different design that have more ground clearance.

If yours isn't lining up I can almost guarantee that is what happened. Some people will use open steps for leverage, vices and even car jacks to apply controlled force to bend the hitch back.
