The hitch is well made. It's a littl stuggle installing all by yourself but got done.
Here's the one bad part. There are (2) bolts that are installed from INSIDE the bumper. The engineering on how that is done is a joke. After about 45 minutes I got the first one in. I was not able to get the second one in at all. The wire that pulls it in came off & now it will be rattling around in there forever. I will add a little weld on that end of the hitch to the bumper to secure it.
Would I buy it again? Probably but I would plan on welding the part that attaches to the bumper.

Hey Philip, I have a way to get the bolt out. Usually on the end of the impact/bumper beam that this hitch attaches to has an opening where you can use a strong magnet to guide the bolt to that opening and get out. Please check out time stamp 3:50 of the video I attached. If that doesn't work, please let me know as I can't recommend welding the hitch to your vehicle since it will void any warranty.

Fits great, easy install!!

by:
2023 ToyotaTacoma

The fit is exact, and I mean exact. The holes light up perfectly, in fact so perfectly that if your alignment is off just slightly you will have a little difficulty in getting the bolts in. I used an atv lift to hold the hitch in place while I put the bolts in place. I should have video'd the proceedure but I didn't. The first thing was to get the wires in place for the two rear-most bolts so when I lifted the hitch in place the wires were already to go through their holes. Also, I cut the plates about in halt that go through the frame tubes in the truck because the length of the stock pieces were far too long to go through without a struggle. After I cut them in half (approximately) they went in quite easily and that made the procedure so much easier.

Still going strong and the paint is holding up well. Ive had quite a few E-trailer hitches and never had a failure or any other problem.

Fits perfectly. Carriage bolts are really aggravating but other than the time spent on them, the install took about 30 minutes. Did it alone.

by:

Had no problem installing this hitch by myself on my new Toyota Tacoma. The hardest part was fishing the parts through the channel with the wires, but I eventually figured it out and got the victory. I'm happy with the install and with the hitch. Great company to deal with!

This is a great product and a great company. I highly recommend them.

by:

The wire fishes for the mounting bolts saved the day, anyone who can’t figure out how to use them shouldn’t ever work on anything!
Even a 75 year old man laying on the streets of San Francisco can install this hitch. I know because I did it. (Ha)

Perfect fit, easy install, good instruc tions.

by:

The product shipped immediately and was given the tracking number. Nothing can beat free shipping.

The product by itself came in good packaging. It had all the needed bolts, nuts and washers. It also had the fish wire for fishing bolts through.

Good that they added detailed instructions. Best of all, this site(etrailer.com) has a video, video is really helpful. The video shows exactly how to do it, properly(Thanks guys for making the video). I have attached the pic of how I worked on my truck.

I would highly recommend this site/company. Will let my friends know.

Thanks once again.

Great product !!! Easy one person ( although a second set of hands wouldn’t hurt) very heavy duty and fit perfectly in the factory mounting holes. The only pain about installation is fishing the 2 bolts and washers inside the frame.. a little tricky.. but still not that bad..

by:

Came early fit perfect Looks like it’s a factory hitch
But they don’t make a factory hitch for my 2020 Toyota

It fit!!! It was a perfect fit. Toyota makes it a little hard to install but I got the hitch installed by myself.

Extremely difficult to get the rear bolts threaded into position. That took an hour and a half! But once that was done, the rest was a breeze with my wife's help.

The product looks amazing and it looks very sturdy, I noticed that the bar had a bit of a scuff mark on it. However, other than that it's still good and it will have Scuff eventually.

Well watched the video's and read the instructions, this is a 2 person job just don't have enough hands. I did install it in my drive way and ended up with my 2 grand children helping. after i was able to get 2 bolts in the rest went fairly easy.

Well packed and speedily shipped; no loose hardware!
Installation instructions imply starting the fish wire at the outside end, but it works better from the target hole toward the middle. Also, I threaded the wire fully onto the bolt for security, and the result was that it was impossible to tip the bolt into the hole. After threading just to the last wire coil, the bolt tipped easily.
Instructions implied that the outside nuts were imperial size, but they seemed to be the same metric size as the other bolts, which was convenient.
To my 77 year old surprise, I was able to lift the hitch into place, following the fish wires up, removing the wires and starting the nuts which held the hitch in place allowing completion of the installation. I applied anti-seize compound to facilitate future removal if necessary.
The result is extremely functional, secure, good looking, and more than satisfactory. Thanks.

This is a very well build and finished product - it exceeds the manufacturer's standards. What is also impressive is the exacting tolerances - this fit perfectly into the space between frame rails. I say again - perfect fit!

Install was easy - I they note that you sound deburr the factory bolts. Just tread a bolt into each nut and run it all the way in and back out before positioning hitch. Also, I left the fish wires on until the very last moment so that those bolts could not get bumped back into the bumper tube - this saved me some frustration so I had no issues. Easy peasy.

Still looks like new and performs as needed. Powder coat wipes off easily. I recommend that you oil the inside of the receiver pocket - not painted because of the fiction when you the receiver. This keeps it from rusting and makes it easy to wipe out periodically

This hitch fit like a glove and mounted quickly to my 2016 Tacoma. I had some initial problems getting the bolt through the bumper with the fish wire, but after I found that I could successfully pull a little harder on it, things went smoothly. With the truck sitting in my driveway, I used a jack to hold the hitch in place while I bolted it on. Installed by myself in about a half hour.

2017 ToyotaTacoma

An estimated 40 minute job took over 2 hours due to having to fish bolts and plates through small holes. BTW I am an ASE certified auto mechanic, so I pity the poor weekender who tries. I called etrailer when I first started having the problem and their help was to direct me to the manufacturer. I contacted them and they swore it would work and sent me a video made by, you guessed it, etrailer where the advice was to use your pinky finger to align everything. It took 2 screwdrivers, one of which I had to bend 90°, along with the fishing wire and 90 minutes to get the bolts fished out.

Another small thing but indicative of how inaccurate the directions are: the tools required are a ratchet, 10" extension, 19mm and 3/4" sockets and a torque wrench. What should be obvious if anyone had actually tried to install one is the 2 rear frame bolts cannot be accessed with a socket because the bolt is behind the hitch and the hitch is too close to the bolt to fit a ratchet or a torque wrench in there. So what kind of importance is implied on using a torque wrench?

When we installed this hitch on a 2017 Toyota Tacoma we did use some additional tools. We found that a wrench worked best to tighten the bolts in the frame rail above the hitch and when tightening these bolts to the torque specifications listed in the instructions we used a shallow socket. I have linked this installation video for you.

by:

I'm 100% satisfied with it. Was delivered in reasonable time. One thing was that it was a little difficult fishing the bolt through the metal tubing when installing, but I could position them properly and install everything properly. Torqued all the bolts to spec and it's very strong as you'd expect. I'm using it together with a Laren hitchlift. I run a rubbish hauling company and I use the Laren hitchlift when I get calls to haul appliances and the like.
