Rugged, Matte Black Finish

The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

Hitch came in good condition but the shipping box was completely open and many parts of the box were ripped. I think this is probably due to how it’s handled once it’s in UPS’s hands but could be something Etrailer looks into solving with more and better packaging.

by:
2007 ToyotaTacoma

The first hitch didn't fit my Toyota Tacoma (brackets angled in) and the second hitch they shipped also didn't fit (angled out). I can't tell if it was bent in shipping or manufactured wrong. The box was damaged but the hitch didn't show any scars. I don't think a customer should need to bend a product as was suggested by customer service. I think at minimum it should be more protected during boxing. see annotated photo showing 2nd hitch.

by:

Everything I needed to quickly self-install(with a son-in-law) the hitch receiver. It has worked flawlessly.

by:

The hitch fit well. No bolts washers or spacers were include. Went to local ace and got bolts, not cheap.$4.99 ea Had my own washers but not spacers. I will find spacers and reinstall.

Still working excellent with no issues towing a 15 foot boat.

by:

A hitch is a hitch. The difference is that you get the correct fit, all the hardware, information, and service out of etrailer you don't find elsewhere. I did not believe the instructions and tips concerning a freight damaged hitch. So I sent it back. Shouldn't have. The new one came, also slightly damaged. Decided to actually listen to the experts, clamped it in the Wilton and easily straightened it. What I should have done the first time. Fit perfect and not a problem towing a boat and trailer at 3650 lbs, all in.

by:

The hitch is of good quality and it fit perfectly. I found that the best way to install the hitch is to remove the rear bumper entirely. All the mounting bolts need to be removed anyway and the two on the bumper are hard to get to and probably were in there since my 2007 truck was new. Much easier to remove all the bolts with the bumper off and the hitch is easy to install with no bumper in the way. Finished install looks good with very little of the hitch showing except for the receiver. PS I'm a pretty good DIY type and it took 4 hours to install this hitch.

by:

Looks nice once installed, but the flanges that fit between the bumper and chassis were bent when it arrived and required some significant "unbending". Based on other reviews for the same item, I think this needs to come in better packaging to avoid bending.

by:

installation took longer due to undercoating making the bolts extremely difficult to remove.

by:
2009 ToyotaTacoma

Took me only an hour to install. The four washer/spacers/shims were difficult to get aligned with the bolt holes.
The right side brackets was bent, probably during shipment. I did get it bent back in place. Took a large bench vice and some leverage to get bracket back in its original position.
Other than these 2 issues, this install was a clean and neat project for the 2009 Toyota Tacoma.

It sounds like that the side brackets were knocked out of alignment which is why the bolt holes are not lining up. This can happen while in transit to our facility or to you. We do have a great FAQ that provides ways to move the brackets back into alignment so the hitch can be installed.

It’s built very well. The Tacoma frame tappers towards the bumper. Extremely tight fit, rubber mallet is helpful.
But it fit, I’m happy.

by:
2007 ToyotaTacoma

Awesome product and super fast shipping! Very happy with purchase.

by:

Installed today Video instructions were flawless Will install the light kit tomorrow So here’s the skinny. I’m 59 yo, it was 98 degrees out today, and I finished in a couple hours with the help of a floor jack. I would absolutely recommend an extra set of hands and a lift if available. But hey if I can crawl around on the concrete so can you

by:

Very well built product. Instructions easy to follow all product satisfaction excellent.

by:
2007 ToyotaTacoma

Great product! Fast and timely shipping. Only issue is side brackets flexed due to shipping and it was short by a 1/4 inch for me to bolt on frame. Resolved it by using a bottle jack and 2x4 and flexed the side brackets out to the correct fit. Very sturdy and strong and secure to pull my 21 ft boat.

The perfect solution for my towing needs. A high-quality product delivered by a fast reliable service at a great price.

by:

Fully recommended for all use. Thoroughly impressed.

by:
2006 ToyotaTacoma

One pretty aggravating problem. Included instructions said to add four metal spacers, 2 to each side. Adding the spacers was a pain and when I went to add the bumper it turned out to be wrong and I had to remove the hitch receiver and remount it without the spacers in order for the bumper to fit.

by:

I haven’t seen the product yet, because I’m currently deployed. However I am already going to give it a 4 star review just based on their customer service. It’s been remarkable. Really feels like less like a massive corporation and more of a small business that actually cares.

Great product. Easy install

  • Recommended Hitch for a 2014 Toyota Tacoma w/out a Factory Hitch
The etrailer Hitch item # e98850 you were looking at, is custom fit so the holes will line up on your 2014 Toyota Tacoma if you do not have a factory hitch installed. This hitch does include all of the necessary mounting hardware to complete the installation. If you have the factory hitch it must be removed and the holes will not line up. All of the aftermarket hitches for the 2014 Toyota Tacoma are the same way. As far as a video goes we only have a video of the Curt item # 13323 being...

If you're looking for an option that doesn't require drilling, the Curt No-Drill Bracket for 6-Way or 7-Way Round Trailer Connector Mounting Bracket - Long # C57202 is a great choice, and will also fit on the etrailer hitch.

  • Parts Needed to Tow Small Trailer With 2007 Toyota Tacoma
I did a search for an owner's manual for a 2007 Toyota Tacoma, which has the capacities in it, and so long as the Tacoma has the factory towing package it can tow the nearly 3,900 lb Forest River trailer you mentioned. In order to do that you will need a number of different parts if you don't have them, starting with the hitch: - etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98850 If your 2007 Tacoma does not have the factory 7-way, you will need to add wiring, which you can so with the following...

  • Recommended Replacement Trailer Hitch Receiver For A 2008 Toyota Tacoma
The only compatible Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver for a 2008 Toyota Tacoma is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75236, which excludes X-Runner models. If you have a regular Tacoma then you'd be fine using that hitch. If you do have an X-Runner model then I'd recommend going with the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98850, which is a fit for both the X-Runner and regular models. I also prefer the matte black paint of this hitch over the high gloss of the # 75236 since...

The etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches # 989891 does not have the same matte black powder coat finish as the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98850. The ball mount is a bit glossier so they aren't a perfect match but it will be pretty difficult to tell the hitch and ball mount apart unless someone is really trying to find a difference. • Can 2013 Toyota Tacoma OEM Trailer Hitch Be Replaced with Aftermarket Trailer Hitch
The 5,000 lb tow weight rating is definitely enough to safely tow a car trailer weighing in at 4,600 lbs total. The only time I would be nervous about the weight difference is if it was under 100 lbs in your situation. According to my research the OEM hitch on your 2013 Toyota Tacoma installs using the bumper brackets so if you remove the OEM hitch you'll need to find replacement brackets for the bumper. Once that is done you can install an aftermarket hitch and for that I recommend the...

Hello Denny, great question. It is possible to install our etrailer Class 3 Hitch # e98850 on a 2010 Toyota Tacoma with the factory installed hitch. A trailer hitch like the etrailer # e98850 is a Class III hitch (hitches are given a class based on their weight capacity and receiver size) and will attach to the frame of your 2014 Toyota Tacoma, so it will provide a secure connection to your vehicle to tow a trailer. There are three trailer hitch receivers that are fits for a 2005 Toyota Tacoma, and according to the manufacturers, from outside-to-outside at the widest points the hitches were approximately 38-1/2 inches wide. Hello. I do have a solution for you, but the etrailer Class 3 Hitch # e98850 you mentioned is custom fit for the rear of a 2010 Toyota Tacoma and this would not bolt up to the front of the truck. There is a custom fit front hitch available for the 2010 Tacoma so this will be your best option. For that I recommend the Curt Front Mount Hitch # 31313.
