This can be done by 1 person but you need extra tools for the install. Example a floor jack,2x4 for balancing the hitch. With this new hitch I have extra ground clearance because the hitch is hidden. This will tow a 5x10 enclosed trailer with ease. The rear plastic cover you have to cut in half and shorten the screws that fasten the plastic cover down. Because the screws are too long and will scratch the paint on the hitch causing it to rust. I would recommend this etrailer hitch to everyone. I installed the hitch on a 2011 Toyota Sienna. The hitch was easy to install, you do need to remove and trim the rear cover that is underneath, but it is very straight forward and I felt like even a kid could do it. Would like to add that I did not have to remove the exhaust hanger, I simply moved the exhaust pipe over and worked the hitch into place. I really like how there is no big hitch hanging down in the back, looks very clean, like it came that way from the factory. Worth every penny and would highly recommend!!
I mainly use it to carry bikes (3). I installed it based on the video by myself with some helps. It serve my usage well.
I’d give it 5 stars, but one of the bolts that came in the package wouldn’t thread into the frame. I tried all 6 spots and it was definitely the bolt. All the other bolts worked in each spot. I had to run to the hardware store to buy a new bolt. Thankfully they had the specs listed in the directions. Everything else was great, just bummed about the one messed up bolt. The bolt from the hardware store went in just fine, it was 5mm longer but that didn’t appear to matter.
There is a picture of the bolt, it looks fine but it simply wouldn’t thread. It wouldn’t thread into the little thing at the hardware store either they have next to the bolts to make sure you have the correct size.
Pretty simple to install, I didnt have to loosen the exhaust pipe with a friends help. The video that etrailer provided made it simple for me to install.
Unfortunately, life got busy after ordering this receiver. It looked well designed, but once I installed it 18 months later, it didn't fit very well. Because we don't plan to use the full class III capacity, the 4 bolts that lined up should work.

It looks to me like this hitch was slightly flexed when you received it. This is pretty easily fixable. You can use a two by four and or a vise to bend it slightly back into position. I have a link below with more detailed instructions on how to correct this. Please let me know if this helps.

I love the instructional video, hitch reviews, and installation instructions! The hitch was delivered quickly and it was easy to install after viewing the installation video.
Great fit! Easy peasy installation! We installed it on a 2012 Toyota Sienna. My sons and I worked on it together and had it on in less than 30 minutes. We pulled the exhaust to the side instead of removing the exhaust hanger. We bent the tabs instead of removing the bumper cover. Installation video was super helpful.
I was worried this hitch would be too big and hang too low for my 2011 Sienna but I was wrong. The hitch is built heavy but to very accurate tolerances. The instructions were complete and straightforward so putting this hitch on was a piece of cake. Everything tucked up nicely and I'm not gonna bottom out in the driveway. Good accurate directions on how to trim the under liner also. Buy this one!
Sturdy, high quality, easy to install. I like that it preserves the limited clearance under the vehicle. I have a 2016 AWD Sienna and plan to use it for a Rockymounts 2-bike rack with a Kuat swingarm. The videos on e-trailer made installation as easy as it could be. I was able to do the job alone without lifting the back end of the vehicle (helps that I'm a small woman). I suggest if you do the same, use something to prop up the driver's side of the hitch and the receiver (I used landscaping bricks) when it comes time to install the bolts, so you're only lifting the passenger side while getting that first bolt in.
It fit my toyota van perfectly. The rear height is low on the van so the close profile helps it clear curbs. The install video is excellent except you could show using a stick through the receiver to balance it better when raising it up with a floor jack.

The hitch sits up as high as possible and does not drag over obstacles. I am still amazed at the way it fit my sienna.
I love this hitch. It installed super easy using the video provided by etrailer. Bent the tabs as they recommend and didn’t need to remove the bumper. For the past year I’ve been hauling around bikes on my tow hitch bike rack and gear in my tow hitch mounted cargo box on the back of my sienna. I can carry so much stuff. I just returned from a month long trip to Maine with my cargo box and it was amazing, I was able to bring everything I needed. I love the way the hitch looks I and love how versatile it makes my sienna.
Great customer service! I had to get my trailer hitch sooner than I was planning, so I called the etrailer number, and they were able to expedite the order and get it to me on time. Would totally buy from them again.

Trailer hitch works great! Had it installed for 1 year now, and no issues. We use it quite a bit to pull our jet skis, and it’s been awesome.
Parts came on time. Watched some YouTube videos before installation. Used car ramps made me easy to access. Figured out less work: Opened cover half way and no removal the muffler holder. Things fit as they should be. And ready to pull. Happy with the quality.
It was extremely easy to install, and I have trusted it carrying a hitch mounted storage rack. And now am towing a 4x9 trailer with no problems. Truly I trust it and my install abilities 100%

I still love this hitch! Have used it a bunch on trips with a cargo carrier also from etrailer and with a pull behind trailer to pick up some dirt. Has been a great return on investment. Thank you etrailer for your services.
Installed in a matter of a couple of hours by myself. I used a QuickJack to raise the car up. Otherwise, I would have had a time getting under there. Also used a floor jack with some 4x4s to raise the hitch in place, and then secured with a tie down before getting the 1st couple of bolts in. The image for the cutting of the undertray is not very accurat; you'll need to cut more than shown. Hauled my dirt bike with a HF carrier and had no issues. Definitely recommend this hitch and believe it was worth the extra work to install the hidden version.

No complaints. Still glad I went with the hidden version, both for aesthetics and ground clearance issues. Will probably get another for one of my other vehicles at some point.
It's great. I like that it sits up in there, basically mostly out of view. This is on a Sienna XLE.
Great price and very fast shipment for such a huge box. Well packaged and easy to unpack. (I used the cardboard box to lay on as I did the install!). Directions were excellent. Only difference for my 2013 Toyota Sienna LXE was that all three bolt holes (In each side of frame) were the ones factory taped (Rubber gasket hole does not get used— and I taped over that one). It was tedious, but not hard. I woundn’t call this a 9/10 difficulty. Even cutting the plastic undercover is super easy. The head scratcher was finding out how to pull the bumper off it’s clips after unscrewing it. Overall I was very impressed with the product and the ease of installation. I really LOVE how the bar is hidden behind the bumper and all you really see is the receiver. That is SO worth the few bucks extra from basic models where you do see the entire crossbar. I also love that this is painted satin, not gloss black. Looks extra cool.

All good. Super sturdy and good looking. Holding up very well.
Expecting product to work perfectly once install is complete but due to slight angle bias in one of the flanges either during welding or shipping, it’s just off from getting all 6 bolts in. Took a few tries and using a jack to push up into place to seat the first 5 due to that imperfection.
This hitch was bought & installed on our 2020 Toyota sienna XLE AWD.
It was shipped and received at my house very fast, impressive. It came well packed with no damage.
My install was a little different than the paper instructions. My under body panel looks different than the instructions but I just held it up and cut out what needed to be removed & it looks great!
If you have one of these vans it’s well worth the money and time to install one, it sits 1 3/4” in from the bumper face. It’s very nice hitch!

A year later and its great! Absolutely seamless, I forget it’s there. Walking past, getting groceries or the stroller, I don’t even think about it until I need to tow. I have zero regrets in buying it.
Just installed it so I don’t have the frame of reference as a user yet. Installed exactly as video showed (2012 Sienna). I had problems removing muffler hanger so I just worked around it. Unless you can pop that off easily, save the time and wiggle hitch in place around the tailpipe. I had help for 3 min from a guy that held the driver side in place while I positioned the passenger side. Fit and finish look great, holes lined up, bolts went in well. As long as it doesn’t fall off the frame (no reason it should), it’s a well earned 5 stars. Only hitch I found that is truly hidden. Worth the extra $ and installation time to not have that bar visible across the back of the van.

Product still performing as expected. No rust or wear and I continue to be happy with its hidden profile compared to other stupid, ugly hitches I see on other Sienna minivans. Then again, we are drivers of minivans, so should we really be giving any concern for appearance?
Hitch receiver fits great, and it was pretty easy to install.
