Read all the reviews and decided on the 12065 for my 2006 Toyota Sienna. Arrived in just a couple of days and install took about 40 minutes. I took my cleaning brush from my .357 magnum gun cleaning kit and sprayed the bolt holes on my chassis with WD 40 and used the brush screwing it in and out of each hole then tried the supplied bolts, each one could be threaded in by hand "Great!". I backed my vehicle's back tires onto 2 pieces of 2 x 10 board just to give me a little more room, took 2 bottle jacks, lifted and slipped the hitch over the exhaust pipe and rested the hitch on the bottle jacks, raised each side, taking turns to keep it level raising it up into position, screwed in the bolts. I did not have to lower the exhaust pipe, just took a piece of board and jammed it between the pipe and hitch giving me enough room to get my socket wrench on. My van did not have the underbody trim and the bottom black lip molding did not need to be cut out as per instructions. I really like this hitch because it almost invisible other than the 1"1/4 in receiver showing. This product not only met my expectations but exceeded them!

I recently installed a curt trasiler hitch on my toyota sienna . I've installed a number of these before but this one took 3 hrs instead of 1 . I had to pry and widen the hitch to line up with the factory holes . This was very hard to do being an all welded assembly . The shipping box was undamaged so I'll have to give this product a poor rating .

It sounds like that the side brackets were knocked out of alignment which is why the bolt holes are not lining up. This can happen while in transit to our facility or to you. We do have a great FAQ that provides ways to move the brackets back into alignment so the hitch can be installed.

I need a hitch to hold a bike rack for my minivan. I ordered this hitch because it's almost invisible, my previous hitch stuck out and frequently bottomed out when backing out of my driveway. One year later, it's been great. It's easy to reach to put on/off my bike rack, but is recessed enough to not stick out. Also, it hasn't rusted like previous hitches I had purchased.

Installation was easy, it took me about 2 1/2 hours from start to finish.

by:
2018 ToyotaSienna

The hitch bolted on easily and the etrailer's video made the installation very simple. I plan to use this for carrying bikes with a Yakima Hold up. The only negative for me is that the hitch is not flush with the rear bumper, so my bike rack is close to rear hatch (less than one foot when folded up and not carrying bikes). Consequently, when bikes are loaded, I cannot use the bike racks's ability to tilt down and away from the vehicle which would normally allow you to open the hatch. The bikes still block the hatch from being opened. The flip side is that, when not in use, the hitch blends in and does not detract from the van's appearance.

Installation wasn't too bad; it took me about two hours, but I was doing it almost entirely by myself and didn't have a good way to hold up one end of the hitch while I was working on the other. I mounted my bike rack (primary purpose in this case) briefly and it seems fine. Haven't had opportunity to load it up and travel, yet.

I did have to trim the under-body panel. A tip for other DIYers: the image of the panel on the instructions is a top-down view, a perspective you probably won't have because taking the panel off without ruining any of the multitude of connectors is unlikely. Some mental gymnastics and you can probably translate to a bottom-up view in your head. The panel cut easily with a sharp utility knife.

Service from etrailer.com was top notch. I am a happy return customer.

In my opinion this hitch (C12065) is the best for a Toyota Sienna as ground clearance is an issue. Just installed one on my new '15. On my previous '09 Sienna I had the 2" Curt hitch C13105 which tended to scrap when going up steep driveways. This one sits significantly higher which is great and it also looks much better too.

For a Toyota Sienna this is the one to get.

by:
ToyotaSienna

Hitch installed easily and with no problems. Took two of us. Didn't need to remove exhaust pipe. Cut lower panel with hack saw without removing from car. Hitch was the lowest profile of any I researched. Good solution for low ground clearance Sienna.

Wiring kit also installed as expected. Routed power wire through electrical wiring bushing in firewall. Ran wire under door thresholds with other vehicle wires.

I am very satisfied with my hitch and lighting harness, and the mounting procedure was very workable as described.
It is preforming daily and provides increased utility of my 2004 Sienna.

Went on my 12 Sienna like a champ. Pretty easy overall, use a tourqe wrench to ensure the bolts going to the frame are tightened to spec.

  • Replacement Hardware For A Curt Trailer Hitch On A 2015 Toyota Sienna
Hey Richard, We can definitely get you a replacement hardware kit for your Curt trailer hitch. All of the Curt trailer hitches confirmed to fit your 2015 Toyota Sienna use the same hardware because they mount into the factory weldnuts. You'll just need to go to the # RHK product page and in the hitch item number box you can enter one of the following part numbers to get the hardware: # C13343 # C13105 # C12065

  • Trailer Hitch Recommended For Carrying Bike Rack on 2015 Toyota Sienna LE
When the choice is available, I'll typically recommend going with a Class III hitch with the 2 inch receiver opening, as there are many more available choices for hitch mounted accessories. If your bike rack is compatible with a 2 inch receiver, I'd recommend a partially concealed design hitch like the Curt Class III, part # C13343. This hitch would have the crossbar concealed behind the bumper, with only the receiver tube and the safety chain loops being visible. If you'd prefer the...

  • Recommended 1-1/4-Inch Class II Hitch for 2015 Toyota Sienna AWD
We offer several 1-1/4-inch Class II trailer hitch receivers for your 2015 Toyota Sienna AWD that can be seen on the link provided. Among them the one I suggest for its higher 350-lb tongue weight (TW) rating is the Curt # C12065. The actual weights of these various hitches do vary slightly but their resulting appearance after installation will be very much the same. Please refer to the linked video showing installation in a 2014 Sienna. All of the required hitch installation hardware...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver With Best Ground Clearance for 2017 Toyota Sienna
For your 2017 Toyota Sienna, the best ground clearance will be the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 76112 which will give you a ground clearance of about 9-1/2 Inches. If you need the smaller 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4" # C12065 is your best clearance. This hitch receiver has a ground clearance of just over 9-1/4 inches to the bottom of the receiver.

  • Recommended Hitch w/ the Best Ground Clearance on a 2011 Toyota Sienna XLE
The Curt Trailer Hitch item # C12065 is going to give you better ground clearance than the Draw-Tite item # 36513 by 3/4". The Curt is 11-3/4" from the top of the receiver to the ground and the Draw-Tite is 11" from the top of the receiver to the ground. Neither one of these hitches do a good job of concealing the crossbar. If you are interested in a hitch that conceals the crossbar then I recommend going up to a 2" receiver and getting the etrailer Hitch item # e98853. This hitch is...

All of the trailer hitches for your 2006 Toyota Sienna are going to sit in the same area. You'll get slightly better ground clearance from a hitch with an 1-1/4" receiver and when the installed the Curt # C12065 and Draw-Tite # 36513 Class II hitches on the same model year Sienna the difference in height was 1/8" and that small of a difference could honestly be contributed to ground the measurement was taken on or even the amount of pressure in the tires at time. • Recommended Trailer Hitch with the Highest Clearance for a 2013 Toyota Sienna
The smaller Class II hitches like # 36513 will give you a little more clearance vs. Class III hitches. The Class II will have lower tongue weight and gross trailer weight capacities. A bike rack with a rise in the shank will provide more ground clearance. When we have installed trailer hitch # 36513 on Toyota Sienna vans the same generation as yours we measured approximately 11 inches from level ground to the top of the receiver opening. • Which Trailer Hitch Has Better Ground Clearance for a 2011 Toyota Sienna Curt or Draw Tite
It's not by much but it looks like the Draw Tite Hitch part # 36513 tucks a little bit closer to the rear bumper than the Curt part # C12065. The difference is right around an inch. Another advantage the Draw Tite has is that it doesn't require the use of a stabilizer strap like the Curt does when carrying a non-supported load like a bike rack. • Recommended Ball Mount for a 2006 Toyota Sienna Ball With a Class II Trailer Hitch
The recommended ball mount for your 2006 Toyota Sienna would have a 2-5/8 inch rise, like Curt ball mount # C45016. This would put the hitch ball at the most common trailer height, but to ensure it will work with your particular setup, I would recommend taking a couple simple measurements. First, measure from the ground to the top of your class II hitch opening. Then, with your trailer level, measure from the ground to the flat bottom of the trailer coupler. For max ground clearance a 1-1/4 inch hitch will be the best option since the smaller hitch opening means better ground clearance. On a vehicle like yours there really isn't an option that is going to have great ground clearance, but we have found that the Curt part # C12065 would give you the best ground clearance at 11-3/4 inches from the top of the hitch opening to the ground. • What Size Tap Can Be Used to Clean Weld Nuts to Install Hitch on 2004 Toyota Sienna
I checked with one of my tech contacts over at Curt and he says you're going to need an M12 x 1.25 tap in order to clean out the bolt holes on your 2004 Toyota Sienna; you can also use some PB Blaster and a wire brush to clean out the weld nuts. You will want to be careful when starting the process so as not to strip out the weld nuts when getting them started. For reference, the bolts used to install the Curt # C12065 are M12 x 1.25 Grade 8 bolts that are 40 cm long.

If you look at the instructions for the Curt trailer hitch, # 12065, that I have linked, you will see that it uses M12 - 1.25 x 40 sized bolts. This means that the weldnuts in a 2004 to 2012 Toyota Sienna are the same size. On a vehicle that has seen at least one winter, the weldnuts can get corroded and impacted with grime, making them seem too small for the hitch hardware. If this happens to you, you will need to clean out the weldnuts using a spray lubricant and a wire brush, # DW00254....
