The hitch receiver is well made and heavy duty. Took about an hour and a half to install. Cutting the cover panels was a little tricky but the hitch receiver fit perfectly. Installing was a 2 man job.
I was cheap and decided to install the hitch on my own by myself. The directions and Videos helped VERY MUCH! There is a plastic cover that was not shown in the instructions or video above the exhaust but I figured it out.
Getting the first bolt started was a pain but after that everything went smooth again. I got a Torque wrench from the Auto parts store as a loaner, I would not skip this step on a hitch.
Overall doing it by myself was a slight pain without a lift but i managed to get it done.
Shipping was VERY FAST ordered on a Thursday morning it arrived Saturday afternoon to NW Florida.

Were you cheap or resourceful? I didn't know you could borrow tools from auto parts stores so you've also taught me something today, too. What all do you plan to use the hitch for?
ETrailer does it again! Phenomenal customer service - made things happen I didn’t think were possible when a shipment didn’t arrive in time. The online tutorials made the whole installation process easy to follow. Buying a new trailer direct from the mfg on Monday and excited to try it out.

It arrived in great shape. I won't say it was the easiest project I have undertaken but it fit perfectly. The video and the instructions helped plus I watched some other videos on YouTube that gave some additional recommendations. Additionally, Gwen was very helpful in assisting me with my order.

This is the second hitch Curt Hitch we've purchased and installed on one of our Highlanders. It's simple to install and didn't take very long to do so. The best part is that it doesn't interfere with you don't lose the hands free ability to open the rear hatch.

Great. Its well priced, easy to install and functional. Highly recommend this product.
It came in 3 days early, good quality and nothing was missing. I have 2023 Toyota Highlander XSE and we used tutorial video to install them. They didn't have video on how to remove rubber that holds muffler in place- WD40 and wrench is all you need. I liked that it also came with instructions on how to cut out the underbody plastic cover so it can go back in with hitch. Would order from this company again!

After researching several sites, I chose etrailer, Curt hitch receiver class 3. Both retailer & manufacturer have high ratings and the videos provided all the information needed. Was able to install on my garage floor, no lift of vehicle. Did all the prep before having my wife hold one side while I secured the other. Hard to imagine one person doing this step. Getting bolts in required a bit of persuasion but once in they tightened easily, torqued them, put the rest back together. My lift gate has the kick open feature, glad to see the hidden hitch allows it to still work. Definitely use the video that matches your hitch, very pleased!!

4*s because my kick sensor won't work anymore on my 2020 Toyota highlander hybrid Platinum. Looks nice & tucked in though

Great hitch so far. It was very easy to install and took me about 30 minutes following the etrailer video advice.
I watched the installation video a few times prior to installing. Instructions were fine with one exception. I have a 2023 XSE with a factory dial tipped exhaust. I had to disconnect the exhaust hanger in order to get enough clearance for the hitch. Everything else worked great and I like the low profile.

Exactly what I needed to know. Just got a 2023 Highlander XSE and was looking for the right hitch.
CURT, TOYOTA, and etrailer.....This is a proper combination of quality, engineering and customer service. Having personally installed at least five CURT hitches, I can confirm the quality, fit and value. Toyota trucks and S.U.V.'s are engineered to make good use of these hitches. etrailer has the best website and customer service. Their prices are very competitive and customer support is excellent from selection tom shipping to follow up support.
I installed this hitch by myself, took my time(at the preferred pace for a 77year old curmudgeon) and everything went smooth.
The support videos from etrailer are very helpful and the downloads from Toyota help a great deal.
I chose OEM wiring harness and backed away from the OEM hitch from Toyota.
The CURT hitch was chosen for quality, price and clearance for the spare tire. My 2023 Highlander XLE was very easy to work on due to the way Toyota sets this vehicle up for towing.
Thanks to etrailer for their great work on enabling the customer to get things done in a proper manner.

Awesome! Works on 2022 Toyota HIghlnader XLE Hybrid
Overall, I am happy with the hitch. I only gave 3 stars because the slotted holes didn't align with the ones on the car frame. I had to use a piece of wood and pry the hitch so I could install the final bolts. All other bolts were loose so it wasn't a case of tightening in the wrong order. Ordering and shipment were no problem- kudos to etrailer. Hitch looks very nice installed.

Was skeptical as I wasn't 100 percent sure it would fit on my 2023 Platinum Highlander as the rep said it would but sure enough, he knew what he was talking about! Great customer service, super fast shipping. Package came 1 day earlier than ETA.
Perfect fit! The point only stands out about 1 inch from the rear bumper which was a + for me as I was afraid of it sticking out too much. Took about 1 hour to install (a lot quicker if you have the proper tools/torque wrench 85lbs per manufacturer). The video was spot on so follow the video instructions).
I would have gave this 5 stars but being critical, there were 2 paint chips on the finishing making me think this was either scraped at the manufacturer before packaging and shipping. I know this because the square was wrapped in plastic wrap and had 0 damage to the box where that end was pointing.
I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a tow hitch for their 2023 Highlander.
Second hitch that came in bent. Other than that everything would of been excellent.
The hitch arrived ahead of schedule. Watched the video and did the install. Super simple. Didn't even have to jack up the car. My 15 y/o son helped me hold it up until I could get the bolts in. The "kick to open" still works and it looks great! Only the receiver shows. Honestly, installing the Toyota wiring converter behind the cupholders in the 3rd row was a bigger pain than the hitch install.
Still works great. Only minor annoyance is that the inner portion of the reciever had it's protective paint/coating worn off from a very bobby uhaul trailer rental and is showing signs of surface rust. An hour with a wirebrush and some rustoleum would do the trick, but something to note. Otherwise it's had 4,000 pounds on it and no issues.
Very well built trailer hitch. Fit my 2023 Highlander perfectly. The install was not overly complicated and all went well. The price was great and the shipping was fast. I’m not sure I could ask for anything more. Thanks etrailer for the great product and great service.

As for the trailer hitch it fit perfectly removed one bolt on passenger side and minor trimming of under panel on the drivers side. Installed in less then a hour!!
Curt 13453 or etrailer part C99FR will fit 2021 Highlander XSE and other model as well but not sure hybrid. I did installation by myself with help of moving dolly,6x6,and long strong zip ties. See pictures for more details. You do need cut out the black cover for re-installation due to tow hitch in the way or leave the black cover off.
Fits perfectly on 2020 Highlander Limited! Easy to install. Finished receiver height is 16”. The hitch is completely hidden behind the rear facia. For the wiring I used the Tekonsha 118252 that plugs directly into the new plug located under the bumper driver’s side. I used the Toyota PT725-48200 ($55) converter that plugs into the wiring located behind the side panel, second row seat, drivers side. Why on earth Toyota buried this connector there is beyond belief. When you add any hitch, including this one, the kick opener still works sometimes. Toyota advises you turn off the opener in vehicle settings. I never used the kick opener before as it was always sort of hit or miss gimmick. Pressing the button always worked faster anyway.
