This fully welded trailer hitch receiver bolts onto your vehicle's frame with no welding required. Powder coated steel is sturdy and corrosion resistant.

This was installed on a 2016 highlander le plus. As advertised it fits perfectly and looks great. As a DIY-er, I was able to successfully install this hitch alone and make the correct cuts in under an hour. The hitch weights about 50lbs and once you set it into position (with help from jack stands), the screws go right in. It really is as simple as the video available online. Highly suggest this hitch. If negative things happens I will post a follow-up review. I don't expect it. Worth the price!

A year later and the hitch is rock solid. I have used it several times this year and it is as expected. Install following directions and you should be good. Highly recommend.

was an easy install for my Highlander with all I needed included. A bit awkward to install but that was expected with just my two 65+ year old hands!

by:

I received the hitch on time and no damage to the box and no scratches on the hitch. The directions were easy to follow and had the hitch installed in about 1.5 hours, I didn't have to jack up my vehicle (2016 Toyota Highlander), the hitch was light enough that I was able to lay it on my lap and start a bold on each side then work my way back installing the remaining 4 bolts. I torqued the bolts to specifications as stated in the directions then installed the wiring harness, that only took 15 min start to finish. I towed a 5' x 8' [rental] trailer with furniture on a 8 hour trip with no issues. Buying the hitch was cheaper that renting a truck to move my daughter into an apartment for her Junior year of college. Thanks again for a great product at a great price.

We had a 2009 Toyota Highlander, that had no hitch when, we bought it. I used e-trailer and had a successful installation. We had no issues with the hitch or the electrical. We just purchased a 2015 Toyota Highlander without a hitch. I again used e-trailer for parts and installation instructions. I am very pleased with their products and service. Believe me you want to be sure about the products and installation instructions, when your spouse walks into the garage and sees the car taken apart. If I can do it, so can you.

Still very pleased with the product. Between errand trips with Uhaul trailers, bicycle rack a d boat trailers, the hitch has been used on a weekly basis.

by:

Can be installed by one person. The trick is rest the passenger side on the muffler, while having the driver side on a jack and lift it till it is semi-wedged against the frame. You don't want it too tight, just enough to keep it from moving while you get the passenger side bolts started. You can also zip-tie the hitch to the jack to keep it stable.

I haven't actually used a trailer since install, but at least it's there if I do. It would be nice to have the electric plug outside on the hitch, but with all the towing I do, the harness is better in the 'trunk'.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver was easy to install and looks great. I had never installed a hitch before and it went really quick and was straightforward. I looked at the other hitch options available and felt this hitch did the best job of blending in with the vehicle, as if it had been there sense day one.

Perfect fit ! Easy install with help of a $10 metric socket set -if you don’t have one. No need to drop spare tire or jack up car. Definitely helps to have an extra set of hands to lift and hold the hitch mount under the car. I used a $20 zip saw to cut the Driver Side underbody panel after it was removed and Passenger exhaust deflector in place. Cutting-edge instruction diagram could be improved a bit. It appeared as an optical illusion to me.

Awesome! I was worried about the look of this hitch vs OEM clean look. But this is really clean looking, easy install, you do need an extra hand for like 5 minutes only. OEM is like 3 times the price. Thanks. My 2nd hitch from this company.

by:
2015 ToyotaHighlander

I had to modify the instructions slightly. My vehicle is a 2015 Highlander, XLE. Installation was not difficult. Most of the time was spended on trimming the drivers side underbody panel to my liking. Passenger side trim don't have to be remove. On the metal facial tab, only remove the existing m12 bolt. I removed the bolts holding the muffler to give me easier access because this was a one man installation. Follow the rest of the information. Shipping was done fast and the vendor was always helpful providing information.

I also have a 2015 XLE. Did you have it on a rack or did you crawl underneath?Did you need to use torque wrenches or were good standard socket wrenches okay?Did all the attachment bolts come with the kit?

Still an awesome product! Been using it weekly to haul garbage and more recently for carrying my push mower and weed eater.

Installation of the trailer hitch and four wire trailer interface were straightforward using instructions on the Trailer website. I use my utility trailer about once a month. The hitch works very well and still looks like new no signs of rust or paint problems. I would buy both items again.

by:

I bought the Hitch, Cargo Carrier, and Bag one year ago, and total cost was less than one airline ticket. We just traveled with 4 adults and 2 car seats to Silver Dollar City and had plenty of room in the car. The quality and ease of use is terrific. I hang the carrier in the garage and one person can load it easily onto the hitch. The waterproof bag allows loose items to be packed easily. Go for it, you won’t be disappointed!

by:

I purchased after speaking with a customer service representative who confirmed this hitch will work with a full size spare tire. I installed it on 2015 Highlander and full size spare doesn’t fit. I was told I could return it. Not worth the aggravation to uninstall and return. Quality is good. Misleading customer service is another story. Not happy.

Outstanding Value! I installed in about 2 hours by myself and didn't lower the spare tire. The installation video was very helpful. But, there are a few items in the video that need updating/clarification. At 4:46, the bracket doesn't get re-installed. That's even mentioned at 7:39 in the video. As well, at 5:00 the muffler bracket doesn't need to be removed and you can see that it wasn't removed at 7:04 in the video. Nothing was mentioned about cutting the plastic muffler shield, which is seen cut at 7:02. I was able to just push it out of the way with the hitch. So, I didn't cut it off like the written instructions stated. And for trimming the driver's side panel at 7:55, I trimmed a lot less, see my photos. Lastly, be sure and adjust the hitch side to side before tightening the bolts to ensure it's centered. I highly recommend etrailer and am very happy with my purchase!

Great product and great customer service from etrailer! I've been putting off getting a hitch receiver for a while and the time had come to stop borrowing friends trucks to haul things around. I did some research and after watching the install video online, I decided there was no reason to pay someone to do this install. As expected, it was relatively easy (especially when someone else helps hold the hitch up while you start the bolts). The receive does stick down below the bumper slightly (as accurately shown in their product gallery) but not as bad as some of the other models out there. Based on the combination of price and visual appeal, you can't go wrong with the Curt receiver.

I also bought the wiring kit from etrailer and installation was a breeze! One note to future customers watch the etrailer install videos. They are extremely thorough and will make the installation of whatever you decide to buy much easier!

by:

The Curt 13200 is a great substitute for the factory hitch. Fit is perfect. Comes right to the bumper, but does not extend out like the factory hitch. Installation was easy following instructions in the etrailer video. I cut a little less off the left side cover. Works well with hitch-mounted bike rack. I Don't know how it would work with towing applications.

by:

After owning this trailer hitch for one year, it still looks and operates the way it did from day one. It is extremely solid, and as far as I can tell, flawless. Highly recommended.

This Curt trailer hitch looks great on my 2015 Toyota Highlander. The installation was just as the instruction videos demonstrated. No surprises. The end product is high quality and has enabled me to tow my trailer and use my bike hitch.

Attaching this hitch to my 2014 Toyota Highlander LE Plus was pretty straight forward. It is much easier to have a second set of hands. I attached the hitch by myself. I had a couple of stands to help me. I was fortunate because I have access to a car lift which made the installation very convenient. The only issue I had with the installation instructions was the section where they tell you to trim the driver side panel. The instructions tell you to trim off way more than you need to. The only cutting that needs to be done is a 1” wide cut from the back of the panel to around 2” past the existing hole in the panel (See photo). For placement of the cut compare the panel to the hitch bracket. As for function… I have not attached anything to the receiver yet.

I installed the trailer hitch and wiring kit to our 2014 Toyota Highlander. Since I am 69 my wife insisted that my son help. I did the "prep work" getting the car up on improvised "ramps" (2x12 and a 4x4) under each rear wheel. I (my son) had no problems installing the hitch. Taking off the Toyota trim parts was "interesting", the panel under the drivers side of the car had 3 different types of fasteners, but that is a Toyota issue. As for the wiring kit I did that myself. One question I had was, why 3 fuses of different physical sizes when only 2 are required. The suggestion I have is on the wiring kit, the fuse holder that is attached to the module should have longer wires (maybe 9-12inches) so it could be routed to a place where replacement would not involve taking off 2 awkward to remove panels. Also the ground wire if about 2 inches longer it would reach to a convenient grounding place. And lastly the module is supposed to be attached to a "flat surface" inside the car, there are no flat surfaces, so I used the extra zip ties to hold the module to the cars wiring harness so it doesn't flop around.

Looks great on my 2018 Toyota Highlander Hybrid! I ordered in on a Sunday afternoon and it arrived (Maryland) on Thursday in great shape. I reviewed the installation video a couple of times and took some notes and started the install. I am a car novice and I don't do anything to my vehicles but put gas in them. But based on the great videos and all the reviews about the ease of installation, I decided to save some money and do it myself. It was totally worth it! If I can do it, you can too. The video was spot on with a couple of exceptions:
- At 3:48 of the installation video you can see the "lower fascia exhaust air deflector" although they never mention it. You have to cut off that deflector down to 2" or you won't be able to get the hitch onto the frame. They don't mention it at all in the video, and so I made the mistake trying to install the hitch without cutting it. You MUST cut it first.
- The tow hook that they mention and remove at 4:17 of the video was NOT on my 2018 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. I thought I must be missing something, but it the video you can see it's attached to two of the holes that are used for mounting the hitch. There was no tow hook on my vehicle - it just had the plastic plugs in those spots.
- There is a bracket on the frame rail mentioned and removed at about 4:55 of the video. They also mention that it is reinstalled later "sandwiched in between the hitch." However, it is never mentioned again in the video. The written instructions make no mention of reinstalling it so I left it off.
A couple of other notes:
- A hacksaw works great for trimming the panels if you choose to reinstall them.
- Lower and remove the spare tire. It gives you a lot more room during the installation.
- Unless you are a superman or rig up some kind of holder for the hitch, you'll need another set of hands to get a bolt in each side.
- Last note is that I don't know how you would possibly get 86lbs of torque on the mounting bolts unless you actually have a torque wrench. I don't, but I'm lucky enough to have access to an auto skills center so I set the torque on the bolts there. Even with the 1/2" torque wrench that I used there that is about two feet long, it took a LOT of work to put 86lbs of torque on those bolts. If I was only using my own socket set to set the bolts, I wouldn't feel comfortable with the installation.
I primarily installed the hitch to use for a bike rack, which I haven't purchased yet. I'll update when I buy one and get it mounted on the new hitch!

Very pleased with this product - high quality and “easy” installation. As some others have mentioned, the packing for shipping could use some reinforcement or padding. The shipping box arrived pretty beat up and the hitch had some dings as there really wasn’t any padding / protection. That said, cosmetic issues for something that goes under the car wasn’t that big of a deal for me. The installation itself was about as straightforward as can be. Make sure to watch the videos and read the instructions multiple times. Having done so I was fully prepared. I would suggest having a couple of extra sets of strong hands to help position the hitch while the initial screws are set. I tried to use my wife and 12 year old daughter - we got it done, but they struggled to hold the hitch in place for the initial screws. They were troopers and we got it done. Very pleased with the quality and aesthetics of the end product.

I seldom take the time to write a review but I felt compelled to share my excellent overall experience with etrailer.com. I ordered the C13200 trailer hitch receiver, 2" ball, 2" ball mount receiver, pin/clip, and C56217 wiring harness for my 2017 Toyota Highlander XLE. All arrived in no time and in excellent condition. The installation videos and PDF documents are outstanding. I installed the hitch receiver in roughly 45 minutes - includes time to convince brother in-law to come over to help hoist it into place. Wiring harness installation was a breeze, roughly 20 minutes (again, great instructional videos). I could not be happier with the finished product. Thanks etrailer.com for making this a trouble free installation. If you are considering adding a hitch, etc. go no further, you are at the right place...order away. Its very easy to install and you will save a trailer load of cash!!!

2018 ToyotaHighlander

Super easy install of the C13200 on my 2018 Highlander Limited. I reviewed the videos for installing hitch and harness. They were well done and missed nothing. I set the hitch on an overturned 5 gallon bucket and was able to easily start the bolts on each side without a second set of hands. I marked and cut the panels with a fresh blade in a utility knife. The plastic panels are just soft enough.
I did not have to take the spare down but I do see where you would need to tilt it when raising and lowering it into place.
One suggestion for the folks at e-trailer: put your decals on straight if you'd like me to advertise for you. Mine was slapped on crooked and creased so I took it off. You do a great job on everything else!
This was the second time I've bought a hitch from you and am completely happy with your products and service. Oh, and wiring harness was a cinch, too!

  • Best Trailer Hitch Receiver For Towing With 2018 Toyota Highlander
Hey Kevin, That's a good question as there's a number of different choices, but if it were my 2018 Toyota Highlander and I was looking to tow a trailer, the trailer hitch I'd put on is definitely the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13200. • Recommended Hitch, Wiring, And Weight Distribution For 2015 Toyota Highlander Towing Camper
The trailer hitch manufactured by Curt that is designed to fit your Highlander is part # C13200. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening. This hitch does not require the use of a safety strap when using the hitch with non-trailer accessories like a bike or cargo carrier. Since you are planning on towing I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop....

  • is OEM Trailer Hitch for 2016 Toyota Highlander Compatible with Thule Apex XT 4 Bike Rack
Thanks for the photos. According to them I believe you are correct that you don't have a large enough receiver for the Thule Apex XT # TH9025XT to properly fit. You can try doing things like tying straps to your roof rack crossbars or some sort of stabilization but ultimately the best (and safest) solution is to swap out the OEM hitch on your 2016 Toyota Highlander for an aftermarket hitch. Anything else is going to be like slapping a bandage on something that needs stitches. I recommend...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for Toyota Highlander that Allows Full Size Aluminum Spare to Fit
We have heard that the Curt hitch # C13200 doesn't fit well with the larger aluminum spare wheels that some of the Highlanders have. We have the Draw Tite hitch part # 75726 that I can show you does fit with the aluminum spare wheels. Check out the picture I attached to see that it does fit.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2015 Toyota Highlander that Doesn't Stick Out Past Rear Bumper
If you are concerned about shin safety (which I don't blame you), the hitch you want for your 2015 Toyota Highlander is the Curt # C13200. Unlike the Draw Tite hitch for you vehicle it does not stick out past the rear bumper so you won't be smashing your shin into it. Check out the picture I attached that shows it in relation to the bumper.

Curt trailer hitch # C13200 uses six M12-1.25 x 35mm grade 5 hex bolts and six 1/2 inch conical tooth washers. If you bought the hitch from us then the hardware should have been taped up around the receiver or stuffed inside the receiver. If it was missing then give us a call! Otherwise we can get you the proper hardware if you order # RHK. Put in the hitch number and choose Curt as the manufacturer to get the right kit.

  • Choosing a Class III Trailer Hitch for 2015 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited Platinum
In terms of how the hitch would appear from the rear, the Draw-Tite # DT65MR and Curt # C13200 are practically identical. The receiver tube plus several inches of the crossbar on either side of the receiver tube will be visible from the rear. The Draw-Tite # 75156 has the receiver tube welded to the underside of the crossbar, which means the receiver tube will be visible, but the crossbar will be mostly concealed behind the bumper. It's very common for folks to be concerned about the appearance...

  • Best Option for Reducing Suspension Sag of 2015 Toyota Highlander Towing Trailer
It's harder to do air spring suspension enhancement kits on vehicles with rear coils like your 2015 Toyota Highlander. Especially if there is limited room to work with and the vehicle is a common tow vehicle like yours. I have a better solution though that I would recommend over air springs even if they were available with a weight distribution system. A WD system reduces the suspension sag at the rear of the vehicle by distributing some of the vehicle tongue weight to the front axle of...

  • Recommended Hidden Trailer Hitch for 2018 Toyota Highlander

The Class III hitch that will provide you with the most hidden design is actually the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13200.
