Hidden Cross Tube for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once the hitch is installed, only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. This means that your vehicle can maintain its stylish, from-the-factory look, and you won't have to do any major modifications to its body or frame.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will withstand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

Easy to install. Really liked the design of the ecohitch so that it did not stick out past the bumper. Cassandra at etrailer was helpful when placing the order.

by:

Received the hitch but the side plates and hardware was not shipped. Called hot line and reported. Customer service indicated that the parts would be shipped however it does delay my installation

I love the clean looks of the installed hitch. With the receiver flush with the bumper, you will never hit your shin on it. The installation was pretty easy with only one minor problem. The furthest rear hole on the vertical plate, passenger side did not line up with the hole in the hitch. It was about 1/64" or less off. I had to unscrew the mounting bolts several times to get the bolt as close as possible to pull it through with the nut. No big deal though. Also, I trimmed the plastic panels much less than the instructions show, providing a much cleaner look in the completed installation.

Couldn’t have asked for a better hitch receiver. I originally wanted the factory Toyota one, but had issues finding one for a reasonable price. I decided on the EcoHitch because it looked the best and was the lowest profile. The fit was almost perfect, but I had to use a clamp to help move one of the mount holes over maybe 1/16th of an inch, wasn’t a big deal though. I also got away with trimming a lot less of the trim panels. It is super heavy duty and exactly what I wanted.

Very easy to install on the 2018 Highlander. It has worked well for our 4-bike hitch rack… just what we needed!

by:

2019 Toyota Highlander Limited Platinum
Perfect
fit, awesome instructions. Took about an hour. I personally like this better than toyota OEM hitch. Doesn't stick out so you'd have to be careful every time you need something from the back.

by:

One year after my purchase, I am still completely satisfied. Good construction, easily installed and looks great. The frame is not visible at all which was important to me. It is a clean look with only the hitch showing.

by:

Very impressed!

by:

The hidden hitch looks good... but this model had the mounting holes about 1.5 inches off the correct frame mounting spots requiring extreme drilling and modifications to complete installation. Would not recommend.

Thank you for leaving a review! It sounds like your hitch became flexed in shipping. I linked an article with tips on how to straighten a hitch back out so that that it properly aligns.

Great hitch! This design is the best as all you can see is the receiver portion. Does not take away from the looks of the Highlander but is super strong. This Small SUV will surprise you with what it will tow when properly equipped ( mine is 5000 lbs). Also is great for our bike carrier.

2019 ToyotaHighlander

Fit great and pretty easy to install. Hardest part was figuring out where to cut the plastic fairings on my Toyota Highlander after mounting the hitch. The instructions were just OK depicting the cuts, but a bit hard to follow. I found it easier to just hold the fairings in place and mark it off with a sharpie. Cutting was a breeze with tin snips. Overall it took my just under 2 hours doing it myself. Looks great, I like the hidden frame.

by:

Better than the OEM hitch, snug fit, easy install. Does not stick out when not needed. Perfect design.

by:
2018 ToyotaHighlander

Install was a breeze, as easy or easier than the three other hitches I've installed over the years. Minor issue getting a few bolts aligned, but some re-work of the bolt tightening pattern seemed to solve the issue.

by:

Hitch and parts with instructions online for cutting cars parts worked fine and has continued to work great. I recommend your products.

by:
2019 ToyotaHighlander

Very fast delivery. Could be packaged better. Very easy install. Seem to be a very good product. Took me about 1.5 hour to install it. Fits really well. Easy instructions

by:

The hitch was delivered very quickly and it looks great on our Toyota Highlander.

by:

I am giving this one star because I can't give it a zero. I ordered the hitch on a Monday and it was at my front door on Thursday the same week. I was very excited until I saw the box was damaged. I checked the contents and found the hardware to install the hitch was missing. I call etrailer. I informed them of the missing hardware. I was told it would be sent out the next day. It has taken over two weeks to get the hardware. I have called and emailed almost every day trying to expedite the hardware. All the employees are very friendly but seem unable to help. I am at a loss on how I can get the hitch in four days but a bag of hardware takes two weeks. The hitch is worthless if I can not install it.

I apologize for the inconvenience. I see that the hardware is being shipped directly from the manufacturer which is why it is taking longer than usual. Customer service will reach out to you.

Awesome product! Easy to install. Lines up perfectly with factory holes. Looks as good as the factory installed version and way better than any other after market one I seen on the road.

  • Concealed Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Toyota Highlander
Your 2018 Toyota Highlander the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch part # 306-X7250 that you referenced is a confirmed fit and would be exactly what you'd want since you said you only wanted the hitch tube to be visible. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well. For trailer wiring you'd then want the # 118449 which is also a confirmed fit and our most reliable option. Install video attached below for this as well. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested...

I can confirm that all the items that are in your cart will fit your 2021 Toyota Highlander. I do have some suggestions and recommendations as well. The Tekonsha wiring harness item # TK57VR you selected includes a plug and play adapter but it is only compatible with Tekonsha Brake Controllers. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller item # 90195. This is a proportional brake controller which means the brakes on your trailer apply pressure in proportion to your vehicle's...

We do have 3 trailer hitches designed to fit your 2019 Toyota Highlander, so I certainly understand your feeling of being a bit overwhelmed. The available hitches can be pretty easily broken down into two categories; hidden and non-hidden. The etrailer # e98844 and the Curt # C13200 represent the non-hidden models where the entirety of the crosstube and receiver will be visible on the vehicle. This usually allows for a bit of an easier installation, and higher towing capacities. They...

The EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7250 is what I recommend for a 2018 Toyota Highlander. It offers a bolt-on install with hidden a crosstube. Then for the wiring, I recommend starting with the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118449 and then adapting this to a 7-way with the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter part # ETBC7L. • Compare Trailer Hitches for a 2018 Toyota Highlander
There are a number of trailer hitch receivers that fit your 2018 Toyota Highlander and it can be confusing because they have a lot in common; however, there are differences as well. I recommend the Curt # C13200 or the etrailer.com # E98844, they are virtually identical. These would both have good clearance for the rack and bikes behind your Highlander's rear bumper.
