Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch was perfect for my car - right size and virtually seamless. I've used it multiple times to attach a Kuat bike rack, which I also bought from etrailer! Online ordering was extremely simple at a competitive price, and it was delivered earlier than expected!

Note: Other reviews said installation was easier and faster than my experience. It took professionals at my auto shop 2+ hours.

That's exciting, Patricia! I see you got the Kuat Sherpa 2.0. The orange on that always catches me eye. We would love to hear your thoughts on the bike rack too once you've had a chance to break it in :)

Glad to hear that, Austin! So, you got a whole trailer just to tow 1 wheel? ;)

The ordering process was seamless. My car got rear-ended and destroyed my previous hitch. Spoke with rep Sara , got the proper hitch for my car, and she delivered the hitch to the auto body shop where it was installed. Everything went off without a hitch!!

The item was shipped on time, and specs were precisely as indicated on the website. The install perfectly followed the online instructional videos. All went smoothly. Hitch mounted bike rack is now installed, in use!

Fits snugly under bumper. I had it installed for me, so can't comment on the installation process. Just what I needed! Swagman bike rack and Draw Tite hitch are well made and very sturdy.

Overall trailer hitch is as advertised. Good quality construction/ welds look good. Priced right. Shipped OK/ arrived no issues.
Installation was a bit tough. Videos were extremely helpful and a must to understand the order of bolt/ spacer block installation. The written instructions were of no help just to verify torque settings.
Two points of issue. The forward most bolt (one drivers side/ one passengers side) is juuuusssst that much too short. The kit supplied 4 -1.5" grade 5 carriage bolts but there really should be 2 - 1.75" or 2" bolts for those forward most holes because once you add the flat washer + the lock washer + the spacer in the frame and the spacer between the frame/ hitch it is impossible to screw the nut on. See attached pictures
Also, once installed and put to use, the Thule bike rack bolt that goes thru the hitch could not be tightened w/ the Thule wrench. The trailer hitch chain loops would not allow. A ratchet w/ 3/4" socket will need to be kept in the car for the Mrs to tighten when using the bike rack.
Hitch looks good and is installed and operational. Thank you

A solid hitch that the do-it-yourselfer can install. Bolted right onto the daughter's Subaru. Bike rack has never been out of the hitch since the install(the bike gets keep in the car sometimes for safety!) Very happy customer! Since college graduation last spring- car, hitch, bike rack, and bike have been from Maine to California with Utah and Colorado stops and now a job in Vermont! Everything works great! Thanks for a great product making people happy.

2017 SubaruXV Crosstrek

Product shipped fast but packaging could be a little better. The box was heavy duty but the hitch was put in there with no secondary protection so it arrived scuffed up from the cardboard. There were also a fair amount of chips in the paint but I run a powder coat shop and blasted it and applied a zinc primer anyways to withstand the salt and brines they put on our Minnesota roads in the winter so this didn't bother me. The factory powder coat on this was pretty average but I understand not everyone is willing to shell out extra cash for better paint and just want a functional hitch for a fair price. Installation was straightforward and a breeze. No need to drill any extra holes on my 2017 Crosstrek. Two people make mounting the hitch a lot easier so you don't knock the bolts back into the frame rail. Overall fit was spot on and should do me just fine.

2016 Subaru Crosstrek

Great hitch for Subaru Crosstrek. I use it to put a tray style bike rack on the back. Easy install, I had no issues with the length of the bolts as other customers have mentioned. Also did not have to drill out the holes in the frame on my 2016 Crosstrek. Included bolt fishing wire makes it a breeze to install. If you do it solo, might want to have a hydraulic jack to hold the hitch in place while you bolt it on. Have not tried it for towing, but it looks like it's built solid. Arrived super quickly from etrailer.com, highly recommend!

by:

Happy with my hitch :) The product was relatively easy to install, it took two of us about 1.5 hours to finish. I'm using it for my bike rack and it fits my 1.25" yakima "hold up" perfectly. I was worried that it would be too close to the car or too low to the ground, but I haven't had any problems.

by:
2017 Subaru Impreza

Excellent product. Fits perfect for the 2017 Impreza. Could be a bit more snug up to the bumper but very happy with it overall. The front bolt could be longer as others have mentioned. I would suggest installing the rear bolts first and then the front ones.
Also, wish the receiver stop was a bit further back so that my rack would sit closer to the bumper, but overall very happy with it.

No complaints. Tows boat trailer without any problems.

by:

The hitch installed easily and fit as expected. It took me about 90 minutes to install it myself. I did have to remove 2 of the plastic body fasteners under the bumper on the driver's side of the car to free up the plastic panel underneath. It was interfering with installing the hitch. I put the fasteners back in after the hitch was installed. The plastic panel rests against the hitch, but it isn't an issue.

2016 Subaru Impreza

Product DT24959 Really easy to install. Watching the video on their website is all the information you need to install trailer hitch. I was lucky to have access to a gas station lift and a second person to hold unit in place while I bolted unit on. We left off the spacer (item 6) maybe needed for different model of car also no need to lower muffler on 2016 Subaru Impreza.

by:

Thanks and the YouTube tutorial video helped lots!

So happy with this hitch and this company!! Great prices, fast shipping and most importantly... excellent product. Great instructions. Great fitment. It took me about an hour because I did it solo with the help of the Jack. This hitch fits tucked under so nicely. I highly recommend this company and this product. Thank you!!

Good Product. I am a guy that likes a challenge although this wasen't much of one.. easy instructions, straight forward application and tools this was a fun project. my best advice would be if you're putting together a project of sorts make sure you speak to a rep before you order, that way all the parts you order work well together..

2012 Subaru Impreza

The trailer hitch fit perfectly. Great video and written instructions. I didn't initially lower the muffler until it became clear I couldn't properly torque one of the nuts until I did. Great product and support!

by:

Greet little hitch I use it every day. Pricing is good and I got it quickly

by:
2017 Subaru Impreza

It fits well, but is not as snug against the bumper as I hoped, even when using the supplied spacer in the forward bolts.

I did not have to lower the muffler as the instructions say on 2017 Impreza, there is a way to wiggle it in place after you get your bolts in place.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2012 Subaru Impreza XV
In 2012 the XV edition was used on a Subaru Impreza and in 2013 the XV edition was used on a Subaru Crosstrek. Therefore you will need to go through the fitguide for a 2012 Subaru Impreza in order to find the correct hitch. For your 2012 Subaru Impreza XV you can choose from either the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver part # DT24959 or the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11286. The Curt trailer hitch requires the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap part # 18050 for all non-towing applications...

  • Correct Trailer Hitch Receiver and 4-Way Wiring For a 2011 Subaru Impreza Hatchback Single Exhaust
You hit the nail on the head with those Landon. Both the Curt # C11315 and Draw-Tite # DT24959 are going to fit your 2011 Subaru Impreza hatchback with the single exhaust outlet. I recommend the Curt as a better option since the receiver is manufactured here in the US. For the wiring you should go with the Curt # C56111 as it uses factory style connectors to splice into the tail light wiring. The Curt # C59236 is a universal option but must be spliced into the factory wiring.

There are trailer hitches that will allow you to use a Thule T2 Pro on your 2012 Subaru Impreza but the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch # 306-X7211 is not a good option.
