fast shipping and no damage. cant wait to bolt it on..

The hitch works great. Can't wait for warmer weather so I can haul my bike to the bike trails! My husband even installed it for me at home.

by:

Installed just like it was suppose to. Loved the bolt wire, made it so easy/

Easy to install, once you know which holes to use! Be sure to get that right the FIRST time! Customer service via telephone was spot on with their advice and assistance.

Have not towed anything with it yet...

The hitch was very easy to install. Very happy with the product. Thank you.

Great product, this is the second Curt hitch that I have purchased. The first from this supplier. I ordered on Thursday evening and had the hitch by Monday noon.
I live in Central PA.

Shipped fast. Quality product. Easy installation. Took me a little longer than the estimated install time, dealing with the evap canister mount on my subaru, but went together as designed.

This is the second hitch I have purchased from etrailer. As usual their service and product are wonderful.

2003SubaruOutback Wagon

Very well made and heavy duty. It literally took less than 30 minutes to install (with hand tools). Very happy, would highly recommend.

Customer Service and communication was also outstanding. Received updated emails regarding status of order.

Quaity and service was nothing less than excellent.

No fuss, no muss - from ordering, receiving and installation. We will submit pictures of it in use soon.

Great price, easy install and fast service.

Hitch is of good quality and instructions are pretty easy to follow. The problem was the hitch was delivered bent, it is really beefy so I have no idea if it was sent that way or UPS managed to bend or drop it during shipment. It took me, a friend, a lift, and lots of prying and cussing to get it to line up enough to get the bolts to line up. I would have given up if I was trying to install this without the help of the lift.

I installed this hitch on a 13 year old outback wagon. I'm not a great direction follower and it was a pretty straight forward process, but taking a few minutes and reading the simple directions was very helpful!
You just need a couple of 3/4 wrenches or sockets plus a torque wrench and it is a job anyone could do.
I'm pleased with the quality of the hitch and will buy from etrailer again!

Bought a Curt hitch for my Subaru Outback. It fit well without any drilling, Just had to trim the rear bumper a bit. No big deal really. The 1-1/4" to 2" adapter I bought is also a Curt. There seems to be a little slop but that in no way reflects the great customer service I received in separate orders with etrailer. Quick shipping on both orders and price matching on my latest. Great service was what brought me back when I recently replaced my vehicle and needed a new hitch setup.

SubaruOutback Wagon

my package arrived very quickly and in good condition. and i must say i was surprised at the quality evident in its construction and the paint job on it. looks baked on and not simply a spray paint job. the metal is very well welded and of ample thickness. i do not forsee any problems with it. and on my Subaru Outback I had been looking for a trailer hitch for quite a while and was always told that there were none made for it. I lucked on your site on the net during a search. glad i did. thank you for a beautiful product for a limited size market like the outback.

2004 SubaruOutback Wagon

Great product - easy to install (helps to have two people and an impact wrench) - only took us half an hour or so.
In retrospect, we did not see why there was a need to lower the exhaust to do this install - we did it, but it seemed to serve no purpose.
The drawbar - I probably won't ever use the one supplied - the 3/4" rise is not nearly enough for most attachments - I put a 3" riser on it and it matches up much better with my log splitter, trailer, etc.
Also, given that the mounting (on an Outback) is so far in, you may find that safety chains on your attachments need to be extended to reach the holes on the receiver.

The hitch is still on my 2004 Subaru Outback and I have had no issues with it.Am pulling a 900 lb trailer mostly to haul firewood.I would still recommend including a drawbar with a 3 rise instead of the 34 that you now include with the hitch, as the Outback ground clearance is not high enough to make the 3/4 rise useful.

by:
Subaru Legacy

Curt's fault, but the hitch was about 3/8" too narrow. Had to break out a sledgehammer and put spacers in different places to mount the hitch. Once I got it on there though, I am completely satisfied with it. It is getting the job done, but I would have concerns about putting the rated load on there. (2000/200 on the '93 Subaru Legacy)

1999 SubaruOutback Wagon

My hitch and accessories arrived much faster than was originally quoted! Amazing service! The hitch fit was ok ( I have a 99 Outback Limited ), as I had to use some spacers to make it line up correctly. It lined up in the frame/ carriage bolt area just fine, but the area where it hangs down it was a little off and I had to use some elbow grease to make the bolts go through. Haven't hauled anything with it yet, but it looks great and I installed it by myself in a little over an hour. Overall great looking hitch ( looks stock ) and great customer service from etrailer!!!

I was pretty confident in my ability to install my new hitch even before I started shopping. Once I found etrailer.com and checked out the install videos my confidence was certainly increased.

The hitch and wiring harness were packed well, very securely, and delivered on time. In fact, after placing my order I was emailed to say that it was able to be expedited so it would arrive on Friday rather than Monday. Score 1 for etrailer.com.

Set out Saturday morning to install and literally EVERYTHING went exactly as the video and instructions said they would and I managed to get it done in just under 45 minutes with very basic hand tools.

I would definitely do business with etrailer.com again and have already made many recommendations. Thanks!!

This is an excellent hitch for the Outback. I have towed several moving trailers and a lawnmower trailer regularly. The hitch didnt miss a beat. Also it seems to be resistant to corosion and has generally held up well. Great purchase.

This is a great hitch. No rust. It has been working good. Have had no issues. Definitely would recommend this to a friend.

by:

I've had this hitch for about a year now and it has given me zero problems. I've had a bike rack attached to it for about a year now too. The hitch handles the weight of the rack and a couple bikes with ease on long trips down highways and bumpy roads.

I have purchased many hitches and wire sets from Etrailer.com over the years. I'm always happy with the service and products. Monday I was looking for a hitch for my new to me 98 subaru. The site had nothing. So I called and talked to Kurt. He spent quite a while researching a hitch that would work. He eventually found one. Also he found a plug and play wiring harness. So I ordered them. A few hours later I received an email that my order had been shipped.
Today I checked the tracking and it was out for delivery. Three days from ordered to delivered. Like I said great service.
Dave.

I ordered this hitch on a Saturday after pricing them all over. The ordering process was simple and the hitch arrived the following Wednesday afternoon.
This was so easy to put on that it amazed me. Literally 45 minutes after opening the box I was done and ready to tow my motorcycle trailer.
I am very happy with every aspect of this product, from ordering to ease of install. It was great. Thanks

by:

The entire experience with etrailer was smooth as can be. They sent me the exact hitch for my 20 year old Subaru within a few days of ordering, at a reasonable price, and I was able to quickly install it without a “hitch”

Instructions were clear and I love how low profile it is. Almost unnoticeable when there no hitch in place.

  • 2004 Subaru Legacy Outback Trailer Hitch with 2 Inch Receiver Opening
There is no Class III receiver hitch available for the 2004 Subaru Legacy. We do have an adapter that will fit the class II 1-1/4 inch receiver hitch, # 80303 that would allow you to use a 2 inch accessory in your class II receiver. When using an adapter, you must take into account that your tongue weight will be reduced by 50 percent so the weight of your bikes and rack could not exceed 100 or 125 pounds, depending on which hitch you purchase. I have linked below to the hitches we carry...

The only trailer hitch receivers available for your 2003 Subaru Outback are 1-1/4 inch hitches. Between them I recommend the Curt part # C12270 if you don't already have a receiver. . To keep using your 1Up bike rack you can use a hitch expander like our part # C45785.
