Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Great Construction of the Hitch. Installation was just as described in the video. As always great service and products from etrailer.

Got this hitch for my 2019 Subaru Ascent. It shouldn't have been listed as a 10/10 difficulty for install. I followed the excellent video by etrailer and got it done in about an hour. After installing at least 4 hitches myself in the past, I would say that this was probably the easiest job because of not having to crawl underneath and bench pressing the hitch up while trying to fish the bolt through. Great design for both the car and hitch!

Still great!

Watch the installation video from etrailer.com because they did an excellent job at showing you how easy it is to install. It sits high on the Ascent so there’s a plus and negative about that. The plus is the ground clearance and the negative is putting my bikes on the bike rack with it being so high.

Let me start this review by Thanking etrailer.com I’ve postponing this job for the last two years because I was going to let a dealership do the job but they were charging me close to a thousand dollars for parts and labor! I did a little bit of research and I saw a video online that etrailer was promoting. I was encouraged to do the job my self considering I have tools of my own. I would recommend anyone who is looking for reliable website. Thanks again etrailer.com

Great hitch and very easy install! Took a little over an hour to install this plus the wiring harness by myself. Purchased this to be able to pull my new boat and it does the job. Thanks to Lori there for the help in verifying the correct parts needed.

2019 Subaru Ascent

I was a bit hesitant to try this install myself as etrailer rates the install as 10 out of 10 difficulty. However after watching the installation video here on the Website, I felt that it was something I could handle though I struggle at times to even put together Ikea furniture haha Overall the install took me a little over an hour but I would like to note that I had to go buy another Socket size that was NOT mentioned in the install video and really should be. If I remember right, the socket size not mentioned was for the bolts that etrailer provides for the install of the hitch to the mounts. It's been a few weeks since I did the install, so for the life of me, I can't remember what size it was that I needed to go buy but it was annoying as I went out and purchased the two socket sizes mentioned in the video, so that I would have them, and then found I needed yet another. However, if I wasn't so pleased with how easy this install was, and how happy that I am with the quality and build of this hitch I would have dinged one star for the inconvenience. As it stands, I am happy with the purchase of this hitch for my new Subaru Ascent. Shipping was quick, quality is great and install was pretty easy actually.

Fits perfectly and of good quality. Very easy to to install took about 75 minutes to install the hitch and harness. Saved about $xxx if installed by Subaru dealer. When not in use completely congealed by easily removeable center cover plate in rear bumper. Highly recommend this product.

This Drawtite hitch is a great way to go on the 2020 Subaru Acent. We are very happy how the hitch does not interfere with the spare tire access. Check out the photo to see the ground clearance of the installed bike rack. This was my sixth hitch install from etrailer but even this 10/10 difficulty install was pretty smooth due to the detailed install video. Thank you etrailer!

Great Hitch Easy Install Another great experience from etrailer. Installation video made the process very easy and was spot on. I found it easier to put rear up on ramps for less kneeling. Trim came off easily but having a second person help might be necessary since bumper trim can be a little awkward due to size. Overall it took about an hour.

Very easy installation. The video instruction was great. I had no problem installing the hitch on my 2020 Subaru Ascent. The hitch seems heavy duty and will handle anything I'm going to use it for.

Efficient and timely delivery, perfect customer service (immediate and on-line clarification of my questions.) Very well prepared instruction and installation clip that takes you through step-by-step installation. Well fabricated hitch. I have installed it by myself easily and fit Subaru Ascent 2020, as required. We are going to use for bicycle rake support. See attached two pictures after installation.

The install videos were key. I was reluctant to remove a bumper and deal with pulling the fascia off. But it was surprisingly easy and this hitch is completely hidden from view unless I need it. Without the solid instruction from etrailer online videos I wouldn't have taken this on. Solid product, shipping was crazy fast, and etrailer staff followed up post purchase. All around I'm happy I went with the transaction and service received.

2020 Subaru Ascent

I have to say this was one experience I do not regret. I was able to find everything I need on etrailer.com that fit my specific vehicle. Additionally, I had no problems installing the draw tight hidden hitch, wiring, and cargo carry due to the easy to follow instructional videos and pdf files. If I had to do this all over again then I would make the exact same choices. I highly recommend the product and retailer.

I needed a hitch receiver to connect to a hitch style bike rack, and came across the Draw-Tite/Eco-hitch/Curt comparison video online by etrailer.com. That simply helped me narrow down to the one I want. But the best one is their installation video —- very informative and detailed. I wouldn’t have ordered the Draw-Tite hitch and tackled the job myself if not of the video. And this is from someone who had never worked on cars before, except for changing air filter. Saved $ by not having to hire a mechanic. Hitch was quick to ship (shipping to Canada wasn’t cheap, though probably fair for such a huge and heavy item) and good packaging. Watched the step-by-step installation video again, and finished the job in decent time. Solid hitch. Also satisfied with the online shopping experience.

2020 Subaru Ascent

The trailer hitch was very easy to install while watching the installation video. The installation instructions say it takes 2 hours, but I was able to get it done in about 45 mins. I ordered this one because you can install the hitch cover plate back on the vehicle and it's out of sight, which is really nice if you don't want to see the hitch all the time.

Excellent quality and, once the car is readied for installation, it goes on very easily. The most difficult element is removing existing car bumper, but, with care and the easily followed instructions, I was finished in 1 1/2 hours

I have been using etrailer.com for several years on multiple vehicle hitch and wiring projects and I have always been very pleased with the product and my experience. This time was no different. I needed to install a hitch and wiring harness for a 2020 Subaru Ascent. The parts that were matched with my vehicle online fit perfectly. The instructional videos that accompany every part are outstanding. Each step is clearly explained and easy to follow. Once again, etrailer.com delivered exceptional service, prices, parts, delivery, and everything else I needed to complete my hitch and wiring project in just a few hours. I highly recommend etrailer.com and I will continue to be a customer for several decades to come.

Item arrived as scheduled. Receiver hitch appears to be correct but have not attempted install yet. Light connection package appears to have been opened and possibly a returned item. Package was open and then taped closed. Will see how this install works.

At first wasn't sure if this was something I could install myself. After watching the video, the installation wasn't longer than 1 hour. I did have to buy myself a torque wrench to ensure it was tightened to spec. Currently using it for bike mount (Yakima) and looking to purchase a small trailer home in the near future.

I’m very happy with this product. We had it professionally installed on our Subaru Ascent by our local auto shop, and I’ve had no issues with it whatsoever. The nice thing about this hitch is that it won’t affect your clearance at all. The ascent has a nice little window in the bumper cover which you can take on and off to reveal your hitch or keep it covered as you see fit.

by:
2019 Subaru Ascent

The hitch is very solid, stronger than the bumper bar that it replaces. It arrived as predicted and went on as predicted, easy for one person. However I found the M10 bolts and nut from Subaru had 17mm heads, but the Etrailer M10 bolts had smaller heads. Enough that they slipped under torque. However they fit a 5/8" socket perfectly. So in addition to your 17mm socket you might want to have a 5/8" handy in case your bolts are also a tad shy. I put an Allen 4 bike rack on mine and it fits snugly.

Solid product, bolts straight on. I was quoted $399 for professional installation. I did it myself in a little over an hour. The crux is the bumper cover pop fasteners, and if you have any experience with trim fasteners it should be NBD.

etrailer got my order processed and shipped. ASAP even amidst the corona virus shutdown! Everything was intact and got it installed. I love how high the hitch sits on the Ascent - like 23" of ground clearance! Using the OneUp bike rack is going to be awesome with no more worries about ground clearance, even with all 4 trays! Great setup and great service from etrailer.

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch

  • What is the Difference Between the Draw-Tite 76253 and Curt C25VR for 2020 Subaru Ascent
There are some slight differences between the Draw-Tite # 76253 and the Curt # C25VR, but it's mostly down to the quality of the powder coat on the two hitches. The powder coating on the Curt hitches is traditionally applied a bit thicker and is a better quality, in my opinion. This is going to translate to less dings and scratches and generally means that the hitch is going to be less susceptible to corrosion over the long term, so I do recommend going with the Curt # C25VR hitch for your...

We offer two primary types of hitch for your 2020 Subaru Ascent. One installs so that the receiver tube sits up against the underside of he back bumper fascia with most of the hitch being visible from the rear of the vehicle. The other type would utilize the removable knockout in the bumper fascia and would be much more concealed. The knockout panel can be reinstalled when the hitch isn't in use. The main reason for their very different designs is the final look once the hitches are installed. The benefits of the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76253 that fits your 2019 Subaru Ascent Touring are that it has a concealed crosstube and also that it has a 750 lb tongue weight, which is the highest capacity tongue weight for any hitch that fits your vehicle.
