If you would like to upgrade this rack receiver for towing, you will need to purchase the Stealth Hitches towing kit (391CONVPT5L - sold separately). The ball mount included in this kit inserts into the center block of the hitch in place of the receiver attachment. A 2" hitch ball is included with the ball mount, making it ready to tow with out of the box.

If you want to take your bikes to the trail with your family this summer, you have plenty of options. You can carry your bikes on top of your car with a roof rack, but that bulky rack can increase drag on your ride. You can use a trunk rack, but that's a pain to mount and it can scratch your car's paint. Or you can install a hitch on your ride and use a hitch-mounted bike rack to carry your bikes.


This rack receiver is designed to act as a mounting point for your hitch bike rack or cargo carrier. Just slide the shank of your carrier into the receiver for use, and when you're done you can not only remove the carrier, but the receiver as well, leaving your vehicle looking clean and unmodified.


Completely Hidden Design

Nothing can ruin the clean, stylish look of your vehicle like a giant piece of metal bolted beneath its bumper. Luckily, with the Stealth Hitches rack receiver, you never have to worry about messing up your vehicle's lines.


Removable receiver

This hitch installs behind your bumper, keeping the cross tube concealed and leaving only the hitch receiver visible. Even better, the receiver can be easily removed from the cross tube when it's not in use so that you won't see any trace of the hitch. This means that you can retain that clean, from-the-factory look for your ride, while still being able to carry your bikes and gear on the next family road trip.


Simple Set Up

The receiver can be attached or detached in seconds with no tools required. To insert the receiver, simply pop the base up into the stainless steel block at the center of the hitch until it automatically latches in place.

Be sure to then press the lock on the side of the block to fully secure the receiver. When you're finished carrying your bikes or cargo, use the included key to unlock the latch. Then turn the handle on the block clockwise and remove the receiver. You can stow the receiver in a safe place, like your vehicle's rear cargo area, or you can use a convenient carrying case (391CASER - sold separately).

And when you're not using the receiver attachment, the included hitch plug covers the center block's opening to protect the hitch's body from dirt and debris.


Strict Safety Testing

This Stealth Hitches rack receiver meets and exceeds the safety standards set by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Even better, the receiver also meets the stricter regulations mandated for European safety testing.


This European testing includes more rigorous dynamic load testing in addition to traditional static load tests. Hi, there Kia owners. Today, on your 2021 Kia Telluride, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Stealth Hitch. And this is what our hitch looks like when it's installed. The cross tube and everything's hidden behind our bumper, so you can really only see the receiver here at the back. And this is removable, so you can completely hide it if you wanna have a completely factory look in the vehicle whenever you're not using any accessories in your hitch. You do wanna keep in mind that this hitch is designed only for accessories, you cannot tow with this.

But Stealth Hitch does have a towing kit available where we'll have a different piece of a drawbar with a ball on it that will actually insert into the hitch, which is rated for towing. To remove your receiver, you'll first wanna unlock it on the other side. You'll get your keys with it. And then you just twist your lever here. We can then, drop our component out.

And if you look here at the lever, it stayed locked in that released position. And you can go ahead and leave it in that position 'cause whenever you're ready to tow again, we can just take our receiver here, line it up with our mechanism and just push it up into place. And it'll automatically click and lock itself in. Before you actually put it into service and put your accessories in there, you wanna make sure that you go over to the other side and make sure you lock that lock back down. And here you can see that our hitch is still installed.

We've got the component removed, but you can't tell that any of the other parts are there, giving it a completely factory look. The receiver is a two-inch by two-inch, so it's gonna be great for all of your accessories. Whether you're wanting to put in cargo carriers, or bike racks, or just about anything two inches, pretty much it has an option available out there for you. You'll secure your accessories using the 5/8-inch hitch pin and clip. Now, one doesn't come included with the hitch, but you can get one here at etrailer.

And we have locking pins as well, so you can protect your investment by keeping it secured to the vehicle. This hitch has a tongue weight rating of 600 pounds, which is the force going down on top of our receiver. And that's gonna be more than enough if you have a four-bike platform rack fully loaded up with four bikes. You can even use the largest cargo carrier that we've got available here at each trailer, fully loaded up to the maximum as well. Now, you do wanna keep in mind that that 600 pounds means anything that's placed inside the receiver and anything that's loaded on top of that. Bur again, for the largest cargo carrier that we've got available here, you won't exceed that with the weight of the carrier, plus whatever's on it. Now, I've got some measurements for you to help you when you're deciding on your accessories. From the center of our hitch pinhole to the edge of our rear bumper, it's right at about 4 1/2 inches. This is important when determining if your accessories can be placed inside your receiver without contacting the bumper. And if they can be placed in the upright storage position without contacting the bumper. And from the ground to the top inside edge of our receiver tube, it measures about 14 inches. That's important when determining if you need a drop or rise or a raised shank on your accessories. Now that we've covered some of the features of our hitch, why don't you follow along with us and we'll show you how to get it installed, so you can have the confidence to do it at home. This is one of the easier Stealth Hitches out there to install. We'll begin our installation here at the back of the vehicle with our liftgate open. We need to remove the spare tire and get that out of our way. So, we'll lift up on the compartment cover here at the back and we'll just set that out of our way. Below that, you'll find your spare tire removal mechanism here. So, we're just gonna lift up the cover for that. It's labeled right there on top. I'm gonna use my flat-bladed screwdriver to just help pop it up. And here we can see the hex that we'll use to lower down the spare tire. Your spare tire tools are gonna be located under the cover, here on the driver's side. So, we'll just lift up on that and we can grab your tools. There's a little pouch there, and we'll just take everything out, so we can get this removed there. This piece here, will go right on there, like that. And then we can put the other mechanism here on top. And then we can just start lowering our tire down. We can then grab our spare tire from underneath. We'll slide the cable through the center, and then just set this off aside. We'll now remove our under shield here over on the driver's side. You can see that we've got three pins there that we need to remove. It's a little bit wet out, so it makes it a little harder to see. But there are little gaps on these pins and your screwdriver will fit right into one of those openings. You can give a little twist, that'll pop up the center, and then the whole pin just pulls right out of there. We'll get all of these ones here on the bottom removed. And then if we look straight up on the side of our panel, there's gonna be some plastic nuts there. We're gonna take our 14-millimeter socket and slide it on there and just kind of pull down, just a little bit, just a little bit of pressure. It really makes a difference in getting those plastic nuts to come off. Sometimes, they wanna just kinda spin and not actually come off. And then we'll just set this aside, out of our way. So, we got the driver's side exposed, so we can get our hitch up. But the passenger's side here has got the exhaust in the way, so we're gonna lower it down. We'll take a strap first, and we're just gonna hook that underneath here on our suspension. And then this way, when we take the exhaust loose, we can control how far it goes down, so we don't actually go down too far and cause any damage to it. Our hangers, we're gonna have one here at the back of our muffler. And there's also one at the front corner side here towards the passenger's side on the outside as well. So, we're gonna get both of those off. We'll do that using a little bit of silicone spray. This will helps make it slide off of there easier. And then we'll just take a pry bar to it and we can just pop it off of there. We'll repeat that for the one over here. And then we're gonna come to the center of the vehicle here. There's also a hanger here in the middle. We're gonna pop this one off of here as well. If you don't have really anything to pry on, in a lot of cases, if you just kinda put your pry bar on there and give it a good push. You can usually get it to just pop right off of there. So, we saw that our strap here have caught it. We can then use our strap and slowly, just kinda lower it down until we've got plenty of room to work. And this is probably about fine right here. We can easily get our hands up in here, our hitch move into place. Now, we'll just set this out of our way, so we can get our hitch up easier. Now, with as extra set of hands, we're gonna raise our hitch into position. We're gonna go up over our exhaust, and then our hitch will slide up on the outside of the frame. We'll now take our hitch, line up the holes in the hitch with the holes in our frame, and we'll get a bolt slid through. The large bolt's risen in the kit. I had a flat washer place on them first. We'll make sure we get one on each side. And that way, the hitch will hold itself up, making it easier to install the rest of your hardware. Now that we get that one installed, it's way easier for me to be able to lift this up. Line up my other hole and get those other bolts started in there. On the other side of our bolts that we passed through, we're gonna place a flat washer and a nylon locking nut. We'll repeat this for the three remaining bolts that we had passed through. We can now put our vertical bolts in. They're gonna thread into the holes in the bottom of the frame. Now, you're only gonna have one on each side. It's gonna line up with the hole here in your hitch. You'll have the spacer here that's gonna slide in on top. And you might have to kinda wiggle your hitch around a little bit to get it to go in and line up. We can then slide our bolt in from below. Line it up with that weld nut in the frame, and then thread it into place. Before threading it in, I placed a lock washer on it, followed by a flat washer. We'll then repeat the same process over on the other side. We can now take a 17-millimeter socket, we're gonna tighten up our lower bolts with that. And then we can use a 19-millimeter socket and wrench to tighten down our horizontal bolts. You may have to swivel when tightening those down. And then we can go back and torque our hardware to the specifications outlined in our instructions. Now that we've got our hitch in place and torqued down, we can reinstall our exhaust in reverse order of how we removed it, as well as our under shields. It's gonna lift back up into place. I put a little bit more with the spray on there 'cause that makes your life a little bit easier and we'll just press right back on. And then we can take our strap out of the way. We'll be removing this panel, so you can see better. It doesn't need to come off, but we'll show you how to get it off anyway, 'cause it can give you some more room to work. So, we'll take our flat-bladed screwdriver once again and remove the clips here on the end. There just like the clips that we had removed on those side panels, on that one side panel. After you get those clips out, it won't separate all the way until we get our screws out here. So, we need to make sure that we get both of these out. And then once we've got our screws out, then we can start working our way around popping this panel under here. So, while I was pushing on the one clips to help them out, the ones here that are horizontal going across, you take a pick, you can actually kinda pull back on these little tabs here to get these to release. We can then set this aside where it's not gonna get damaged. You can store it in your vehicle 'cause you could reinstall it later to hide your hitch if you wanted to. We can now take our receiver block. And we're gonna go to the center of our hitch and slide it in between the two ears there. We'll line up the holes in our receiver block with those in our hitch and take the largest bolts that come in our kit and slide it through. And we're gonna slide it from the passenger's side through towards the driver's side. Typically, these bolts will come in the same little box as your receiver block here. So, once we get these slid through, it's not uncommon that they're a little stiff. We really just need to be able to get a nut on the other side, and then it'll pull itself through at that point. So, we'll take the nylon locking nuts that come in our kit and we're gonna thread those on the other side. We can then take a 15/16 socket and wrench to tighten down our hardware. We can then go back and torque these to the manufacturer's specifications. So, at this point, our hitch is completely installed. You've got a couple of options now. 'Cause this end here is removable and this is where you would put your receiver in when you wanna use it. And you can also take it out when you're not using it. You'll also find your keys in here. So, we're gonna pop this out, so you can see that's where you'll find your keys for locking and unlocking the hitch. So, if you're planning on leaving your receiver in the whole time, then I would recommend removing these two pieces here by taking these screws off. And then you can just leave this cover off and you always got your receiver back there. If you're planning on keeping it in a hidden orientation where you're only have it in when you wanna use it, then I'd recommend leaving those. And now we can just reinstall our panel in reverse order of how I removed it, if you had removed it. When you're ready to use it, you'll simply pull your cover out. I've unlocked it, so you can see that it's pushed out there. We've then taken our hitch and we put it in the unlocked position. We'll push it into place. And it'll automatically twist and lock it in there. Now, before we put this into service, then we wanna make sure we push that lock tab in. So, that way, there's no chance of anything letting this handle twist and letting our receiver drop out of there. And that completes our installation of the Stealth Hitch on our 2021 Kia Telluride..

This rack is fantastic. Fits absolutely perfectly behind the bumper. Not visible at all with the hitch attachment disconnected. I did this install myself and it took just over an hour. I watched the video twice and then used the printed instructions in the box. There wasn't a Telluride-specific video at the time of my install, but the video for the Palisade is exactly the same instructions since the vehicle is exactly the same underneath. The video is a huge help in terms of knowing what to do, where to look, and in what order. I did this install in my driveway as I don't have a lift and wanted to try and do it myself. That said, I did get a set of the Rhino Ramps and it really helps to have the vehicle up so you can move your arms and use tools under the vehicle. I am sure you could do the install without ramps, but it is way easier to use a long handled torque wrench with the vehicle up on ramps. The ramps are great, I have used them with my diesel F250 (very heavy) and they are super sturdy. Definitely look at the instructions as there are some tools that are very important. Definitely want a 3/4" open ended wrench. Even if you have two ratchets with 3/4" sockets, the clearance for the bolt under the vehicle when you are torquing the bolts will be much easier with an open ended wrench. For the exhaust, you need a strap. I would definitely suggest a cambuckle strap as it makes lowering the exhaust incredibly easy. A ratchet strap will work, but is not as easy to release a ratchet strap as it is a cambuckle strap. You are using the strap to lower the exhaust not raise it, so you will have an easier time with a strap that lets out easier. Don't be intimidated by the exhaust isolators. It is easy. Do get some silicone spray lube as the instructions recommend. You can likely pull them off by hand with some silicone on there. You can definitely put them back on by hand. Bottom line, this is a great system, perfectly fit to the vehicle, and totally unseen when not in use.

Great product - was hesitant at first because it was nearly double the price of other options, however, to have the ability of not seeing a hitch on the back of my BMW X5 M sport was more than worth the price. I actually tackled the installation myself due to a quote of nearly $400 at my local shop. I knocked it out in just a tad over an hour by myself in my garage with nothing more than a trim removal kit, some tools I already have, and the tutorial video they provide. Pumped to finally have a hitch for my bike racks on the back of my X5 instead of constantly using my wife’s SUV that we fitted with a cheaper hitch.

There are not many options for 2019+ V60, but I am glad I ordered the Stealth hitch. Without the receiver extension, the hitch just disappear. My only issue is the price. Installation was relatively easy, the instructions are well made, etrailer video was also very helpful. It took me a bit less than 2 hours alone and it could have taken 30 min less if it was not for the very tight tolerance between the center block (billet block) and the hitch. It is very tight, I had to use lubricants and a hammer to get in there and align the holes for the bolts. The paint is just too thick there. Other than that, the installation was a breeze. My only questions, is can I use my Kuat rack in 4 bikes mode or it is just too heavy ?

Thank you for your review. The Max TW for this hitch is 350 lbs and from the pictures you provided it looks like you have the Kuat NV 2.0? That bike rack is 110lbs. So you will have to be very careful with your 4 bikes and weigh them precisely so you do not over extend the weight limit.

Just had the hitch installed. Plan on using it for my bike rack outside of winter season. Since it is winter and will not be using my bike rack, I have removed the receiving portion of the hitch. Wanted to maximize clearance, and this hitch is just below bumper. Previously owned uhaul hitch was several inches lower on 2014 Outback. Looks very slick, well made and solid. Rubberized lock and receiver attachment covers looks like they will prevent water and salt from entering the locking areas during the winter - tight fit. Receiver drops into hand with turn of release knob, a little awkward yo use when reaching under bumper facial that was cut away. No sign of a hitch when the receiver attachment is removed. Installers took about 1.5 hrs to attach.

The hitch has been great thus far. Easy on and off, especially with salt and snow. Then back on after a rain and melt. Its off for the winter now. A little rat on the hitch receiver, but the under car mount looks pretty free of rust.

This is a very high quality hitch system. The color printed instructions (also easily available .pdf online) are fairly clear. The detach system is very high quality and works great. I am giving 4/5 for the high price. Tips: I have installed this type of hitch on a 2012 VW Jetta and now a 2011 S4 Sedan. When it came to cutting the plastic bumper to gain access to the hitch assembly, just take your time and get it close. As long as you are close to the proper area you will not be able to see the cuts. On my VW I spent over an hour making sure all of my measurements were perfect and it was exact. Then I drove that VW for 2 years and you could not see any of those cuts, and this Audi one is even more hidden. Pro's: - Very high quality and well made materials. - Assembly went smooth and easy. Just take your time and follow the instructions. (may have to guess at some things see CON below) Con's - Price (it is very expensive but very few options for this car) - The instructions had very clear and laid out instructions for the A4/S4 and A5/S5 with color codes and all. BUT when I began working on the car the instructions/photos did NOT match my 2011 S4. My car looked much more like the A6 and in some cases did not look like any of the photos or instructions. (example: the instructions to cut the back bumper for the A/S4 were completely wrong and mine looked just like the A/S6). - Several of the pieces came out of their protective cardboard in transit and scratched each other up.

When installed on my 2016 Audi S5 Cabriolet it has only 6.5 inches of ground clearance and drags on the ground whenever you go down a curb or up an incline and that’s without any bike rack attached to the car. Once installed the hitch cannot be returned to etrailer. They should have a warning on their website indicating ground clearance may be an issue.

The hitch and installation more than exceeded my expectation, especially as my Volvo dealer said they couldn’t supply me with an OEM hitch. The installation went exactly as the video said it would. I was skeptical at first but not any more. Great quality hitch and and excellent idea of mounting behind the rear fender. The fact that the hitch itself is removable is a bonus. FYI the bottom of the hitch is about 10” from the ground when fitted and it extends about 2” from the rear so no issues with using my bike or cargo rack.

Decided to install the hitch myself after one installer quoted me $450 and another one quoted me $650. Using the supplied directions, I was able to knock it out in a little under 3 hours. Getting to the 5 screws in each wheel well would be easier if you remove the rear tires I have 20 inch wheels... and getting the bunker back on is a little scary too, but I managed.

Shipping from etrailer is always extremely fast! I'm extremely happy with the product. I installed the stealth hitch myself. Its not too difficult to do, but isn't for the faint of heart. Honestly the hardest part was removing the bumper. If you are patient and have basic mechanical skill its really not that bad. Just slightly scary on a brand new car. I love that you can still put the plastic cover back on so its completely stock and no one has any idea the car has a hitch. Very excited to be able to put my bike rack on my Tesla!

The 'hidden' concept of this hitch is excellent for high-end vehicles. I remove it from my Porsche from time to time when I know it won't be needed and you can't tell it has a hitch - no ugly receiver sticking out the rear-end. After one year I am beginning to see a little rust gathering around the base area where the hitch goes up into the receiver. I find this troubling and don't know how much worse it will get.

Thank you for your review. Your hitch receiver needs maintained every once and awhile to keep it looking great and working properly. I would sand any rust spots then cover with an anti-corrosive spray paint like Rustoleum. Here are more tips:

This hitch is exactly what I was looking for for my F80 M3. The stealth design means it's there when I want to hook up my bike rack, and completely invisible otherwise. Taking the hitch on and off is a breeze, and I can say 1 year after install that it's worked perfectly every time. Etrailer also did the installation. Very happy with both the rack and the experience with etrailer. Installation was fairly simple. Have the exterior styling kit and went on without a hitch. Get it?? Cut out of heat shield and fascia can be less than what's recommended I believe, but can determine what you need. For me I made a minimal cut and then finished cut after installing which was a bit more difficult, but worked.

Good design and build quality. The frame can be 100% hidden inside the rear bumper when the hitch is released. It gives you a perfect look of the car from rear end. The installation manual can be more detail and specific as it's per car model designed. I had to figure out a few areas myself, because I couldn't find the pictures in the manual, it took a lot of my time. I give it 5 stars. The only downside is it's a bit expensive.

I was looking for a hitch primarily for a bike rack or possible some very light towing, but I did not want to ruin the looks of my 2021 Volvo XC40 with a hitch receiver showing in the back. Also I had concerns about blocking the foot sensor for the hatch door with a standard hitch. The Stealth Hitch addressed both concerns perfectly. After installation, it was completely invisible and the foot sensor still worked as it should. I was a very happy camper. That said, there are 2 considerations to keep in mind before purchasing this product: 1- Make sure there is a qualified local installer in your area as your car could easily be damaged if the installation is not done properly. My Volvo dealer refused to install it because it was not their own product. Proper installation by a professional outfit is expensive and in my case was nearly double to cost of the hitch itself. If you happen to have the tools and know-how to do the installation yourself, then more power to you and has been reportedly done successfully by others. 2- You do have to get under the bumper to install the hitch receiver extension every time you want to attach something to the hitch. Not really a huge deal and a quick process, but a little inconvenient nonetheless. Can't have everything I suppose :) Overall a great and well designed product that meets a specific need.

Installed on a 2021 Model 3. It took about 4 hrs for me, largely because I kept stopping to look for some tool I needed or get some water as it was hot. I bought a set of picks and trim install tools at Harbor Freight which came in very handy. The install video was very useful although I had to also use the manual as the 2021 is a little different bumper bolt pattern. I was able to remove the bumper by myself, but I did have help putting it back on. I probably could have got it back on alone but help made it faster.

The only downside I saw using this hitch was that the ground clearance is too low. I attached a Yakima bike rack and it scrapes my driveway, which has a little slope (maybe 10 degrees).

Received package three days after placing order! Put it on myself the same day. Had help from a friend; I have no experience working on cars and took about three hours to install. The instructions were pretty easy to follow, though I wish they had better pictures (angles). I got the rack only option, and step 14 of the instruction called to mount the chain hooks, I looked for the chain hooks for a good five minutes and thought they forgot to include it. Turn out the chain hooks only come with the tow package, silly me lol. The template for trimming the bottom panel is accurate, hopefully you have the newer model 3 and don't have to cut it (Dremel tool did a good job cutting it). The receiver and locking mechanism look a lot more solid than the EcoHitch version. Unlike the EcoHitch, there's no bolts to mess with when removing the receiver, so it's very easy to remove and install the receiver.

    The Stealth # 391KIATELL20 hitch you'd looked at is a fit for the Kia Telluride and wouldn't fit the 2021 Sorento but we do have a hitch option for your Sorento, I'd recommend the Curt Class IIl hitch, part # C34ER.
