Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2014 Lincoln MKX - Curt

Today in our 2014 Lincoln MKX, we'll be installing the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number C13067. Here's what a hitch looks like installed. As you can see, it's a very factory-like appearance. It's tucked up nicely behind a rear bumper cover here. The only part really hanging down is the class III receiver here and a little bit of the rectangular frame of the hitch, has a nice high-gloss black powdercoat finish, so it's very durable. This hitch has a 4,000 pound gross trailer weight rating and a 400 pound tongue weight rating. It does not support weight-distribution. We have these nice, round, tubular constructed safety-chain hooks that will be able to fit the smallest diameter of safety chains onto without a problem.

We also have our standard, 5/8" diameter hitch pinhole here, for use with our hitch pin or a locking device. If you are using it for a non-trailer application, such as using it for a bike carrier or a cargo rack, you will need to use a stabilization strap, which is available separately in our website, to help support the load. Now, for a few measurements to better assist you in choosing any hitch-mounted accessories such as a ball-mount, bike rack or cargo carrier, you're looking at about 5" from the center of the 5/8" diameter hitch pinhole to the rearmost point on our back bumper, and about 14" to the ground to the top of our 2" receive opening. Okay, so here's what our hitch comes with. We have the actual hitch itself, the six spacer plates that our carriage bolts will drop down through. We have six flange nuts here and two pull-wires to install our hardware. Now, in order to install our hitch, we need to temporarily lower our exhaust, but before we do that, we need to support our exhaust with a strap or some metal wire or something of that nature, just so we don't cause any damage to it from it hanging down. We'll take the strap here, and I'll loop it in to our rear subframe, just like so, and this will hold it up. Now let's spray some lubricant on our exhaust-hangers here, there's one on either side of the muffler, just so they slide off a little bit easier. We'll pry our exhaust-hangers off, just like so.

Okay. Now there's one additional hanger right here in front of the muffler where our two pipes join together in a Y. Let's spray that down as well, and we'll use our pry-bar to remove it, too. Now we need to take down our heat shields. There's two: one passenger side, one on the driver's side. There's three bolts that hold them in place, plus a plastic clip right here.

These bolts are 8mm. Pull down our heat shield, just like so, and it comes out. Some wires clipped on the driver's side one. We'll use trim-panel tool to remove those. Coming from behind, pry it off. Now on our driver's side heat shield here, I already made a mark of a small area we need to trim off so our bolts for our hitch will have room to clear.

Just using a pair of aviation snips, or tin snips, we'll just trim off the shaded area. Okay, so our driver's side's done. Our passenger side's the same way. As you can see, I've marked off with a yellow paint marker here as well. All right, perfect. Now our driver's side, we'll take our heat shield here, reattach our wires to the back of it, raise it back up into position, reinstall the plastic panel-fastener here, and secure it with the one bolt right there. We'll tighten it back down for 8mm. Now, on the frame reel here, we're not going to put the two bolts back in because we need the hitch to sit flush up against this frame rail. It'll still be secured because it'll be sandwiched between the frame rail and the hitch body itself. Now we'll do the same on the passenger side. Now we'll take our fish-wire here, insert it into this front hole on the passenger side and we'll feed it out through the back of our frame rail here through the thumper. You can see where the fish-wire came through in our frame rail right here, now we can take our spacer plate and carriage bolt and thread them on. Spacer plate first, then our carriage bolt. Grab up a pull-wire. We'll feed these up into the frame rail. Now we'll pull our wire and our carriage bolt comes on down. Just like so, we'll take our pull-wire off and we'll do the same for this hole right here. Move our pull-wire down, we'll do the same: spacer plate and carriage bolt. Now we'll do the same on the other side. Now with the help of an assistant, we'll raise our hitch up. Get out two bolts started. We'll tighten them up a little bit, do the same on the other side. Now we'll take a small drill to right here and drill a pilot hole in the rear hole in our hitch. We'll do the same on the other side. Now we'll use a 17/32s drill bit to enlarge our hole to the final size. I'm using a step bit that goes out to the same size. This will also make it a little faster of an installation. Now do the same on the other side. Take our fish wire again, go through it, just like so, and we'll feed it out the back. All right, got it. We'll take our final spacer plate on the passenger side, feed it on, install our carriage bolt. We'll feed it into the frame. All right. Take our pull-wire off now and install our hex-flange nut, and repeat this process on the driver's side. Tighten it down. Now we'll torque all our hardware here, to the amount specified in the instructions. Okay, with our hitch now torqued, we can raise our exhaust back up into position. Okay. That one on, we'll do the driver's side. We can take our strap down now. Get it out of the way, and we'll reinstall this forward hanger. That completes our installation of the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number C13067 on our 2014 Lincoln NKX.

Lincoln MKX

My Curt Hitch for my Lincoln MKX arrived a day early and I installed it the next day. It was rated 7 out of 10 for difficulty, but I had no problem installing it all by myself. Working with my MXK on a set of ramps, and on my back laying on 15 year old creeper I was able to get the job done in a couple of hours. The on line help video was exceptional and I knew exactly what I had to do after watching it. I used a jack and a 2 by 4 to support the exaust instead of a strap like they showed in the video and it worked fine. I'll be 60 on my next birthday, and I must admit I'm a little more mechanically inclined than most, but I don't turn many wrenches these days. If after watching the etrailer video you think you can do it, then, by all means, dont be afraid to try it! It's a piece of cake! 120801

I like the product very much and dealing with etrailer was one of my better on-line purchases. Also, I gave you a good referral to my son-in-law TJeremy Loomis who purchased a hitch from you in 2014 for his Toyota Highlander. Good companies like yours are good for e-commerce! Keep up the good work!

The install video for this hitch indicates that routing the carriage bolts through the end of the frame rail is easy. On my installation this was not the case at all, and was virtually impossible without removing the rear bumper cover and bumper itself. Once the taillights, bumper cover and bumper itself were removed the installation of the mounting bolts was very easy. I defiantly recommend having a second set of hands for installing the hitch to the bolts, and the use of a floor jack is also recommended. Once installed the hitch looks great and is very solid. Only 4 stars because this did not go as the video shows. 259575

2011 Ford Edge

2011 Ford Edge Sport - Everything went together very easily. The wire feed for the bolts worked awesome! I did not need to jack up my car at all, but I am used to working on cars with similar clearance to my SUV's ride height. I did find that it was easiest to install the hitch with the hitch secured to my floor jack. This allowed me to raise and lower the hitch as needed while I trimmed my rear bumper. The reviews I read had a few comments about no trim required. This was not the case with my 2011. However, I really wasn't too concerned about trimming the small section of bumper that I had to trim. If you use the floor jack trick make sure it is secure! You don't want to drop it on your face or body when you are not expecting it. Only negative. While installing and moving around the paint chipped off the front of the receiver on the hitch. The paint chipped very easily. We got rain the weekend I installed it and I noticed surface rust where the paint had chipped. After 2 days of sitting outside. So I did have to wire wheel the surface rust away, clean it and repaint it. It didn't take a huge effort, but I would suggest double checking your hitch after the install and taking care of any exposed metal. We will see how it holds up this winter in Minnesota. 228306

2014 Ford Edge

I have a 2014 Ford Edge Limited. When I bought it I also had a truck which I used to pull my utility trailer. I sold the truck a few months ago and was surfing the net looking for a way to add towing support to my Edge. I found eTrailer - it was just what I was looking for. I ended up ordering the Curt Trailer Hitch receiver. It arrived in a few days, I had tracking info emailed to me and I had 2 follow-up emails from customer support making sure there weren't any problems. After watching the install video and reading the instructions, I had a pretty good idea of what needed to be done. I made a couple of changes to the installation instructions. These may (or may not) work for you but they saved me some time. First, I did not need to drop the exhaust. I just left it in place - didn't touch it, didn't have to. Second, I did not remove the heat shields - didn't have to. I just removed the 2 screws from the end of the shields and then snipped the tab and the notch while the shields were still mounted. The rest of the install went smoothly and in less then 2 hours I had the hitch mounted. Next task is to install the Curt Wiring Harness. I'll add another review for that when I'm done. 332338

2013 Lincoln MKX

The C13067 Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Installation went smoothly on my 2013 Lincoln MKX. The Time estimated for the installation video seemed a little short for me. It took me like three (3) hours to finish, was challenging but it got done. But also I did it alone (in the video there are two guys).. the online help video was great and I knew exactly what I had to do after watching it. Torqueing the rear bolts to spec felt like I was crushing thin metal together but they eventually torqued perfect fit. The fish wires to pull the bolts through the frame are genius and made an impossible task simpleā€¦. after you get use to them so be patient. The hitch is pretty invisible and what you can see looks like it was a Lincoln MKX OEM install and I have to say that also it look nice, very good finish!! The hitch arrived quickly and is very well built. Definitely a quality product. Best price for a quality setup without a doubt. I email then about my UPS tracking Number and they answered in hours. Definitely I will buy from them again many thanks eTrailer.com !!! 178755

I purchased this Curt hitch approximately one year ago along with all the wiring components I would need for my '13 Ford Edge to share towing duties with my F150 pick-up to tow my pop-up camper with electric brakes, my utility trailer and my hitch mount bike rack. I chose the Curt brand for its reputation and that it was American made. I didn't start the installation until late spring time as I was in no hurry. Every thing I ordered from etrailer.com arrived in one large well packaged box sooner than I expected. The well written instructions for the hitch installation as well as the wiring components made the task easy. I would add that anyone contemplating doing a complete trailer hitch installation understand fully what they were going to be doing as well as have the skills/tools to do it correctly or make sure they have a helper that does. I am pleased with how the installation turned out. I've used the hitch a few times and discovered I should have mirror extensions when towing my pop-up, another purchase from etrailer soon... 470707

Installation went very well on my Lincoln MKX, good fit and great instructional video. It was a great idea on your part to tape the hardware and wiring kit to the hitch. The box arrived with one end torn open, but no problem since everything was securely taped together. Delivery was 1 - 2 days sooner than I expected. 130752

Great Price! Shipping was super fast. I ordered on Tuesday at 2pm and the hitch was sitting in my garage on Thursday by noon. Installation was easy thanks to the how to video on your site. I was a little apprehensive about having to lower my exhaust and drill two holes but it was smooth and easy. The fish wires to pull the bolts through the frame are genius and made an impossible task simple. The Curt hitch looks great on my 2010 Ford Edge. I towed my boat with it the next day and it was smooth sailing. 57483

This product is "stout", heavy and well made. I opted to install it in my garage by myself using ramps and closely following the instructions. They are 'spot-on'! I call this my Ben-gay project because I'm sure I'll need some rubbing after this install. I have done this before, but that was many years ago. I am now 70 and was convienced by another reviewer, who was 60, that it could be done albeit at a slow pace. It took me 4 hours and lots of muscle to get finished. It can be done alone but a helping hand is advised. 110 ft pounds of torque is quite a challenge also because of the position you are in without a lift. Ingeneous fish wires for the plates and screws took a little trial and error, but was a snap after the first one. It looks good and seems as solid as a rock. I will put this to the test as soon as I recoup and install the wiring kit I also ordered-which I will review. Great product! 193372

Nice Product the hitch went on pretty easy, the video and the directions were great tools . The most impressive part was the wire to get the bolts into the frame, impressive piece of Engineering work - very effective once I got the wire pulled through. Thank you 214574

I received my tow hitch within the specified shipping dates but, when it arrived and installed it, I noticed there was slight damage on the hitch. The hitch was slightly bent inward causing a misfit on the mounting holes on my ford edge frame. I believe it was caused by bad handling of the box during shipping as the hitch was sticking out of the box when it arrived at my house. I was able to bend the tow hitch open enough to line up the holes and successfully install it. As for recommendations; there should be some additional padding on the inside of the box and a mock-up fit check should be performed prior to shipping if one is not currently performed. Other than that, the hitch installation instructions were clear and all the hardware was in good shape. I now have a hitch to tow my bikes so i'm satisfied. 214095

2011 Ford Edge

Received hitch in good condition. Heavy and looks well made. Instructions along with video made install procedure straight forward for my 2011 Edge. No problems lowering exhaust (used a floor jack) or removing/modifying heat shields. Took some time to fish bolts and brackets through frame rail. Not very much room at all between bumper mounting brackets and openings of frame rails. At times had to go more by fell than sight. I had help to bolt hitch to car. I highly recommend having help on this step! Drilling holes in frame actually went easier than expected. Fished the bolts through to new holes. Tightened all bolts specification. Took me around 2 1/2 hours to install. Very pleased with the way the hitch looks...very clean looking install. 194377

The installation of this receiver was straight foreword, as shown in directions and video. It only took me about ten minutes longer than video said it would take due to using a jack and stands, since I do not have a vehicle lift in my garage. My only complaint is how large the receiver opening is. This makes for a loud tow of my tilt bed trailer when it is empty, as the trailer is very center balanced. After complaining to a few friends of the noise, they all said that Curt receivers have larger openings than other receivers to make it easier for draw bar installation and removal. However, I chose the free shipping and was upgraded to the 3-5 day ground for free and had all of my components after 3 days. 147681

NOT BAD TO INSTALL IN THE GARAGE , TAKE THE TIME TO CHEDK OUT THE LIFT POINTS ON THE VEHICLE. BEFORE U START THE INSTAL.TAKE THE TIME ALSO TO PUT THE FLAT SIDE OF THE CARRIAGE BOLT HOLDERS IN THE FRAME RAILS RIGHT,SO THAT THEY HOLD BETTER. ON THE PULL WIRE THEY WILL LOOK BACKWARDS. ON MY EDGE IT WAS ALITTE TRICKY, STARTING THEM BECOUSE THE OPENING WAS VERY SMALL BUT THEY WENT. THE FRAME RAIL IS NOT AS OPEN AS U WOULD THINK. THE MUFFLER WAS VERY EASY TO LET DOWN AND UP , THE RUBBERS CAME RIGHT OFF, SPRAYED THEM WITH SOAPY WATER. E-TRAILER WAS VERY GOOD HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE PAINT ON THE FIRST HITCH BUT THEY SENT A NEW ONE AND UPS DROP OFF THE NEW ONE AND PICKED UP THE DAMAGE ONE SAME DAY. 221560

The hitch arrived quickly and is very well built. Definitely a quality product. Install was more difficult than anticipated though. The instructions are fairly well written but the key part that was left out was how little room there is to fish the wire and bolts into the frame rail. The bumper support covers 80% of the opening of the frame rail and unless you want to take the bumper off you'd better have some patients or some beers. The 2 holes that you drill and put the bolts in are the most difficult due to the hitch taking up what little room there was to begin with. But once past that everything went smooth and looks awesome. Best price for a quality setup without a doubt. 175509

2011 Ford Edge SEL

Hello. This is my first review I ever made , but felt like I just had to. I needed a trailer hitch for our 2011 Ford Edge SEL. I searched like crazy on Internet afraid to death I would by one that someone claimed it fit theirs. But search no more, I really mean it. It fits perfect and easy to install and looks awesome. It came super fast in the mail. Lady on phone was also awesome. I always read reviews and hope people are honest. This was my chance. I have no affiliation with etrailer other that I found them on Internet. Don't waste anymore time wondering if this is a good price, quality or asking yourself if it will fit your Ford Edge. Thank you etrailer. Andy 233105

This is the first Curt hitch I've installed; my experience is with other brands thus far. I was very impressed by the quality of most of the welds, the coating on the hitch, and the hardware kit. Additionally, fishing bolts through a frame is typically time consuming and frustrating - but the fish wire that came with this kit was simply awesome. The Ford Edge doesn't have a lot of space for a hitch, and thankfully the fit of the Curt hitch was excellent and provided around 3/8" - 1/2" clearance to the exhaust system. etrailer.com had the hitch on my doorstep 2 days after I ordered! Very impressed overall with the transaction and the product. 48514

I was concerned about how this was going to fit on my 2013 Edge Sport, but it went in really well with a very minor trim on the lower plastic. I don't imagine it will ever be removed, so I went ahead and trimmed the plastic for it pushed it up a good 2 inches and I didn't want to risk deforming it elsewhere. It is a really a great hitch, installed easily, probably overkill for this vehicle, definitely a solid unit. 105167

The hitch arrived with the light kit. The hitch was packaged very well with the light kit inside. The hitch was easy to install and looks like a professional installation. The most difficult part of the installation was routing the power wire from the battery, but after a little time it has worked flawlessly since the installation. I will most definitely recommend trailer to everyone I know.(See attached picture!) 518320

This ETrailer CURT Class III 2" Receiver Trailer Hitch is Awesome! It was such a pleasure to work with ETrailer and purchase this product over the phone. Carla was so darling and helpful and made the transaction easy! The package was delivered one day earlier than promised! This trailer hitch is so substantial; it will easily tow our Seadoos and the double-bike rack. The instructions were very clear so that Ford Parts Dept could easily install the trailer hitch. Overall, our experience with ETrailer was Excellent and I would Highly Recommend The ETrailer Company to everyone! Linda P. 313705

Just wanted to say thanks for the awesome site and service. I just installed it on my ford 2010 edge and everything went smoothly. It took me about 1.5hrs to install. The exhaust was very easy. Getting the screws in were a bit trick especially the 3rd ones but manageable. At the end it looked perfect. I got my sister to buy one for her Honda Odessey. Thank u eTrailor ur videos were invaluable. 275576

Fairly easy to install. Took about 45 minutes with 2 of us and the car on lifts. Only cutting involved is with a tin snips and that was on the heat shields. Getting the bolts into place was a little tricky as the Ford Edge has a small opening to squeeze the bolt thru. This would have been a lot more of a problem if the car was only on a jack stand. Did buy the Curt support strap recommended. It is a joke. It is not long enough for any real support on my Yakama bike rack. I will hook it up but I can see it won't do a lot of good. 210404

The box arrived quickly, contents in perfect condition. The hitch was perfectly engineered to fit our Ford making the assembly easy and required just basic tools. Your company's wire pull through gadget is very clever, easy to use and solve the huge problem of getting the fasteners in place. We have used the trailer a dozen times and it sure comes in handy. The electric harness took the most time since I did not want to have loose wires showing anywhere. I would, without hesitancy, recommend etrailer's parts. 449664

Very good hitch. Fairly easy to install if you watch the videos on the website, but I would say it would be pretty hard to install without a second person. Once you figure out where everything goes and how it goes, it isn't too bad. Dealer quoted me $745 for parts and install on both hitch and lights so a few hours was well worth saving $500. Would definitely order from etrailer.com again. Package arrived quickly with follow-up email to check on thing from them and the videos made the install much easier. 116167

Fast Service, reasonable price and perfect fit. Only hassle, was drilling 2 1/2" holes in the frame. This is not easy with the average home drill. I had to step up one bit size at a time. Took about six bits to get up to 1/2". Other wise the installation was easy and straight forward. etrailer.com has great products at reasonable prices that are delivered promptly (2 to 3 days). The diy videos and support are great. Don't waist your time trying to save a few dollars, like I did, by going to Autozone. 124850

Horrible. I purchased a Curt trailer hitch and it came with no damage to the box. I brought it to my local Ford dealer to have it installed and they told me both ends of the hitch were bent and they had to bend them back. Well of course this cost me more money because it tool longer and I am leaving down the next day and couldn't wait to have a new hitch sent to me. I reached out to customer service who didn't do anything to help with the matter. I would never recommend Etrailer.com to anyone! 215304

I'm really happy with this hitch. I have a 2011 Edge Sport and was initially concerned about how this would work out. I did not have to trim the fascia to install the hitch, as I just deflected the fascia upwards. With design of the center section having a non-shiny black texture with fins, it looks okay to have the gentle upwards curve in the middle. The rest of painted fascia is not deflected. Best part is I can take off the hitch when I turn in my lease and have no damage to the facia 12803

Navigating the etrailer site was very straight forward. Purchasing the hitch needed and then processing the sale online was similarly easy. The product was soon received in good condition. The etrailer videos were very helpful and although it took me longer to install than a seasoned mechanic, nevertheless the installation went well, and now a year later, the hitch is still working very well - no complaints. A good product and good training and support provided for a very positive experience. 249573

2010 Ford Edge

Great hitch it fits my 2010 Ford Edge perfectly, I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet, but it's already installed and ready to go, the installation was easy with good instructions. One thing for you etrailer, you might want to package your products a little bit better because one side of the hitch came bent, I had to use a rubber hammer to get it to the right position and then I was able to install it. I know you are shipping steel products but they are not unbendable. 147415

The hitch was easy to install and has held up great in the year of use. I was considering getting the hide away version at first but I'm glad I pick this one instead. It is at the perfect height and from the bumper and looks as it was from the factory, unlike the hideaway version witch most have to cut a little out of there bumper to make room for it. I would recommend the model over the others . Also the video and instruction are easy to follow. 302748

Ordered on a Tuesday and received a days later on Friday! Installation was pretty straight forward especially after watching the video on how to install (I do recommend watching The video). The only part of the installation that was little tricky was getting the bolt and spacer fished into the end of the frame, thought the bumper may have to be removed but the bolt and the spacer can be fished through there without removing the bumper. 316353

2011 Ford Edge

The hitch is good. More robust than what I need for my bike carrier. Installation on our 2011 Ford Edge was more of a job than I could at home an even was challenging for Johns Trailer to do. I would have been better off to have had them do their hitch and labor. The make and model of SUV did not work well with this hitch. The end results are very good and our bike carrier work well with it. 292030

It still is doing a good job for our bikes. The paint finish is good no rust.

2013 Lincoln MKX

I received and installed this 2" hitch on my 2013 Lincoln MKX. It is a very well built hitch and fit perfectly on the car. I did have a lift so it was much easier to install but the video by etrailer was excellent as a guide. I use the hitch for a bike rack right now but may in the future decide to tow a small trailer. I have every confidence that the hitch will serve me well. 348341

Great product...super easy installation. I was worried about quality but far exceeded my expectations . This is not only is well built but looks great and look great on my new Ford Edge. I am ready for towing and etrailer has done it again by providing top quality products with great instructions and tech support to back it up. Thanks...Ted 456770

The shipment was delivered as promised and the installation process was as advertised. It takes some maneuvering to slide the bracket and bolt into the frame (you have to slide each part in separately on the pull wire) but once you figure it out the process goes pretty quickly. Make sure you watch the installation video. It really helps! 178380

I installed the hitch last week and I installed it in a little longer than the video stated but that was because I didn't have the right sized drill bit. That said the product was easy to install and the wiring harness was as well and I would highly recommend both products to anyone with some mechanic skills and a set of ramps. 419775

The hitch that we ordered was exactly as described and so easy to install. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. We got estimates from several local garages for installation prior to receiving the hitch that ran from $500.00 to $700.00. We did it ourselves in about an hour and a half. Saved tons of money. 392587

Got a trailer hitch for my 2010 Ford Edge a lot of emails informing when it would arrive which was helpful. Detailed instructions with all equipment needed to install. Came in box a little bent but that's nothing a vice can't fix. Pretty easy to install for one person if you have expierence with installing equipment. 276806

Hitch was very easy to install and looks great on the car! Included with the kit came a really slick way to install the bolts. Very impressed with everything! Took less then a hour with car up on lift. Now if you had to do this on the ground I think things would be a little tougher but still totally doable! 149895

The installation went smoothly on my '08 Edge. The passenger side seemed more challenging but it got done. Torqueing the rear-most bolts to spec felt like I was crushing thin metal together but they eventually torqued. The hitch is pretty invisible and what you can see looks like it was an OEM install. 126765

Quick delivery. Easy install. Took longer than expected though, as I do not have a vehicle lift and spent this time on my back. Love the instructional videos on the website was a big help. Looks great. Now I just have to install the electrical harness 118551 and I will be ready to tow!! Thanks Etrailer. 56594

  • Recommended Trailer For 2013 Ford Edge To Carry 3 Kayaks
  • In my research I found that the load-carrying capacity of the roof on your 2013 Edge is 100 lbs. A roof rack that clips to the door frame would have a limited weight capacity and would not clear the side rails on your Edge. I am afraid 3 kayaks would weigh much more than the roof weight capacity of your roof but I do have a recommendation. You may be able to use the SportRack Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs, part # SR5526. This carrier would sit directly on the roof and you would secure...

  • Which Trailer Hitch Will Fit a 2012 Ford Edge Sport
  • I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite and he said that the ground effects/rear fascia on a 2012 Ford Edge Sport prevent hitch # 75992 from fitting properly. I do have a trailer hitch that fits the sport model. It does require some trimming but not any extra trimming other than what is specified in the instructions. Take a look at the CURT Trailer Hitch # C13067. I confirmed with CURT that it will fit the 2012 sport model. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you...

  • Best Quality Trailer Hitch for 2011 Ford Edge
  • We carry hitches from two manufacturers, Cequent Performance Products, who manufactures Hidden Hitch and Draw-Tite and Curt Manufacturing. I would say that in terms of overall build quality and the quality of the finish, the hitches from both companies are pretty equal. In terms of choosing a hitch for your 2011 Edge, I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Class III hitch, part # 75992 or for Edge Sport models, the Draw-Tite # 75728. The Curt Class III, part # C13067 is a bit less expensive, but...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2013 Ford Edge Towing a Pop Up Camper
  • If the dry tongue weight of your pop-up camper is 358 lbs then most likely it would be even higher when loaded and ready to tow. The best recommendation I can make would be for you to upgrade to a hitch with more tongue weight capacity like the Curt Hitch part # C13067 as it can handle up to 400 lbs of tongue weight. You will also need to check the towing capacity of your vehicle in the owners manual as well and be sure not to exceed the lower of the two figures. For trailer wiring...

  • Availability of Trailer Hitch for 2013 Ford Edge Sport
  • The dealer might not offer it, but we have a hitch for the 2013 Ford Edge Sport model. I'd recommend going with the Draw-Tite Class III, part # 75728. Unlike the Curt C13067, the Draw-Tite model doesn't require that a safety strap like # 18050 be used for hitch mounted accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers. If you'll be using the hitch for towing purposes, you'll also need a few other items to complete your towing system: Trailer wiring harness, part # 118515 Ball mount kit,...

  • What Is the Difference Between the Curt Hitch and the Draw-Tite Hitch on a 2010 Ford Edge
  • Both the Curt Hitch # C13067 and the Draw-Tite Hitch # 75992 are custom fit hitches that are designed to be mounted on to your 2010 Ford Edge. Both hitches are Class III rated and have the 2 inch opening at the hitch. Both the Curt and Draw-Tite Hitches have a gross trailer weight rating of 4,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 400 lbs. Both the Curt and Draw-Tite Hitch have limited life lifetime warranties. Of these two, I recommend the Draw-Tite hitch over the Curt for two reasons....

I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver as this hitch will not be as visible from above in comparison to the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver. • Exceeding Trailer Hitch Tongue Weight Capacity on 2013 Ford Edge
  • The Curt Class III Receiver Hitch # C13067 referenced in your question, which is confirmed to fit your 2013 Ford Edge, does indeed have a tongue weight capacity of 400 pounds. I cannot recommend exceeding this capacity, even by just 60 pounds, as doing so may result in damage to the hitch or vehicle. Going over the trailer hitch's capacity will also void the manufacturer's warranty. I also recommend checking the tongue weight capacity of your vehicle itself, as it's possible that it...

  • Why Can't I Find a Higher Capacity Hitch for 2011 Ford Edge
  • After taking a look at the owner's manual for a 2011 Ford Edge, I found that the largest trailer that could be towed with this vehicle would be one weighing 3,500 lbs and this is only for the AWD 3.5L Class II (lower capacities are listed for the others). The highest capacity hitch that is offered for the Edge is one with a 4,000 lb towing capacity like the Curt Trailer Hitch, # C13067. 4,000 lbs already exceeds the vehicle's towing capacity so this is why manufacturers do not offer...
