Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Hitch is bent over 2" (Bolt holes will not line up with frame, Bolts that come with Kit will not fit in the frame holes (more mods),
Needs a lot work to install. Mod to under side on the car is needed (Muffler Heat shield, Under side of bumper) If I could return it I would. I don't recommend it, unless you vary handy with body work and bending steel. On a 2013 Kia you need to remove the Exhaust Pipes and mufflers to have room to install.

Everything worked just like you would expect. Instructions were easy to perform and the overall install fit as it should. Very happy customer. This product will be used primarily as a holder of a KUAT bike rack. We have a small [retailer] trailer and a log splitter pull around a bit.

etrailer always has the best prices, the fastest free shipping, and the best customer service. I put my hitch on in my garage in about an hour. All parts there, clear detailed instructions. I am a repeat customer and will always look to etrailer for my next purchases.

Received my hitch 4 days earlier than I was notified it would be delivered. :)
Hitch installed easily, but it had minor damage from shipping (a bracket for the muffler hanger was bent). Rather than return item, I just straightened it.
Overall, great service/product.

Overall, Im happy with the hitch for my Sonata, but I wish it was a little higher. It sometimes drags on the curb ramp when going out of driveways.

Well that is not entirely true. We do accept returns, as long as the product was not installed.

by:

The hitch itself has worked great for what it is and was easy to install, I really liked the install kit it came with.
My only complaint is that it doesn't use the standard 2" receiver and I had to buy another receiver. I HATE having to have duplicate items for the same task as I already had two with ball hitches that fit my small open and larger enclosed trailer. I'd give it 5 stars if it had a 2" receiver.

2015 Kia Optima

I put this hitch on my 2015 Kia Optima. I am a Mechanic/fabricator and I am used to improvising and minor modifications when installing accessories or equipment upgrades. This hitch was a breeze to mount, due to the informative reviews on the website I purchased from I was prepared for the need to enlarge the bolt holes in the frame (to an egg shape or widening slightly) so that the washer/nut would slide up inside, I use an inexpensive hardened steel burring bit not unlike a short drill bit in my makita drill. I also cut off the excess square tubing and welded steel caps in place to give the hitch a cleaner look from the side. It took about and hour to modify the hitch and not much more to install. I use it to haul my two mountain bikes, excellent hitch!

by:

Took about 45 minutes due to lack of knowing where my proper tools were and I was able to put it on myself using both my knees to hold it up!!

by:

The trailer hitch is exactly what I hoped it would be-a convenient way for me to carry bikes with a small hitch behind my car, easy to handle, easy to store and very secure, the installation took a bit of knuckle busting, but that’s to be expected. High-quality product taking my bikes where I want.

by:

ordered a small trailer hitch and everything is all good 1 year later. Had it installed locally and 1 year later all is good. not a single issue with etrailer.com

by:
2015 Kia Optima

the parts were as described and fit my 2015 Optima perfectly. It is a bit difficult mounting the hitch to bolts that can be pushed back into the frame. it would be good to include at thin push on keeper that could be pushed over the bolts while the fishing wire was attached so bolts couldn't get pushed back into the frame. Otherwise great, look forward to using it with a bike rack.

This hitch is AWESOME! It took roughly 2 hours for me to install it on my 2012 Hyundai Sonata Limited, but it fit perfectly and looks amazing! I towed a snowmobile and some other stuff on a 5x8 trailer for 2 hours with absolutely no problems. Would highly recommend for anyone with a Sonata! I probably wouldn't recommend it, but I was pulling around 1400lb with it!!!

by:

I was able to install this hitch with ease. I followed the instructions while watching the video. I have had no problems with the hitch and use it all the time.

  • Recommended Bike Carrier Options for 2015 Hyundai Sonata
The design of your 2015 Hyundai Sonata does not lend itself to trunk-mount type bike racks. In fact both Thule and Yakima do not recommend any of their trunk racks for your Sonata. So, your best option is to install a Class I hitch and use a hitch-mount bike rack. However, note that a Class I hitch can handle the weight of only 2 bikes. The hitch I recommend for your Sonata is the Draw-Tite # 24965 because it installs without drilling and includes all the required hardware to bolt it on. You...

  • What Bike Rack and Hitch Do you Recommend for my 2 Fat-Tire Electric Bikes on My 2019 Sonata?
As far as a hitch recommendation between the Draw-Tite # 24965 and the Curt # C11402 for your 2019 Hyundai Sonata, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 24965 only if your 2019 Hyundai Sonata if your model is not a hybrid Sonata. The Draw-Tite hitch is a great economic hitch that provides the same 200-pound tongue weight capacity and 2,000 pound gross trailer towing weight as the Curt # C11402. However, the Draw-Tite only fits on models that are not hybrids. If you have a hybrid model, I recommend...

  • Which Trailer Hitch for Bike Rack on 2019 Hyundai Sonata
Both hitches will install in a similar manner, and have identical weight capacities. The Draw-Tite # 24965 uses a crossbar manufactured out of square tubing while the Curt # C11402 has a round tube crossbar. Most folks consider the round tube crossbar to be more aesthetically pleasing, but that's a matter of opinion. The Draw-Tite # 24965 won't be a fit for Korean manufactured models, so if your Sonata's VIN begins with a 'K', you'll want to go with the Curt # C11402. So, the primary...

  • Comparing Draw Tite and Curt Hitch for 2019 Hyundai Sonata to Carry a Bike Rack
For your 2019 Hyundai Sonata the Draw Tite hitch part # 24965 is the better option for carrying a bike rack like our very popular Hollywood Racks Trail Rider # HR200Z mainly because it isn't as recessed under the vehicle as far as the Curt # C11402. This will make it easier to fit a bike rack without interference between the rear bumper and the upright portion of the bike rack. Also the Draw Tite is listed as having a shorter install time too.

The only real difference in these two hitches is that the ball mount, pin and clip are provided with the Hidden Hitch model, item # 60269 (no longer available). Many of our customers select the round tube hitch style when appearance is a factor. The rounded cross tube normally blends better with the underside of the vehicle and sort of disappears. • Recommended Class I Bike Carrier For a 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid For E-Mountain Bike
First you will need a Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24965 to be able to carry a bike rack on your 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. This is needed as your E-Mountain Bike is going to weigh to much for a trunk mounted rack or roof rack option. I prefer the Draw-Tite over the Curt # C11402 as the crossbar is one solid piece and is not cut in half with the receiver tube welded in. Due to this, in order to determine where your Sonata was assembled you will need to locate your VIN and contact your local Hyundai dealer who will be able to give you that information. • Difference of Curt and Draw-Tite Hitches for 2018 Hyundai Sonata
The Draw-Tite # 24965 and Curt # C11402 are a lot alike. They both install on your 2018 Hyundai Sonata in basically the same fashion and have the same weight capacities. They do look a little different because the Draw-Tite has a square cross tube and the Curt's is round but this won't change the functionality at all.
