Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Ordering from etrailer was a breeze. Their installation video - was PERFECT! Don't try to install without watching, it is well worth the few minutes! I received purchase and shipping/tracking confirmation promptly after my order and the hitch was delivered quickly, as promised. After watching the install video, I installed in my driveway in about 30 minutes. Put the hitch on a box ('6 pack' cooler) to engage with the bolts and put washers/nuts on without an additional helper. To my pleasure (and surprise) I did not have to remove or touch my spare tire!!
It now has my bicycle rack on it ready for our afternoon ride. Very happy with etrailer.com and this hitch.
p.s. Really, there is another red FTC? (see Roger's review and picture)
It was a little intemedating at first, but after figuring out how to get the hitch i9n position if fit perfectly. Happy.
Required me to grind some metal off the metal backing plate to get it in the frame openings. This increased my install time significantly.
My Draw-tite hitch installation
I ordered the following trailer hitch and items for my 2015 Ford Transit Connect XLT LWB off the web from etrailer.com. All and all I am very pleased with the various products and the outcome.
1 # 75852 Draw-tite Class III Trailer Hitch - 2"
1 # HM11140264 Hopkins Plug-in Simple Wiring Harness with 4-pole Connector
1 # HM48595 Hopkins Fold-over Mounting Bracket for 4-way Flat Connector
1 # I26 Curt Led 4-way Flat Connector Tester
They were received 5 days later via UPS in one large carton. The kit contained all necessary parts including printed directions and a separate sheet describing how to determine tongue weight. The hitch installation was straight forward and took me about an hour once I got the tools together. I used wooden blocks and a jack to position the hitch. The wires supplied to pull the spacers and bolts through the frame were of particular help.
The wiring was more complicated. The printed instructions say to remove the tail lights to access the connector, but on my vehicle that was not possible. The connector is pinned to the body with a plastic pin that has to be pried loose with a screw driver from inside the access panel at the rear driver’s side. Once it is loose the harness is too short to be accessible through the grommet hole behind the tail lights. However, it is easy to disconnect the two halves and plug in the premade Hopkins harness from inside the access panel. The seat belt retraction wheel (my model has 3rd row seats) needs to be disconnected to allow access to the connectors on both sides. A sheet metal screw was supplied with the harness to attach the white ground wire but I used the stud and nut that is already grounding a white wire from an existing harness. I just cut part of the round connector to slip it under the nut.
I had to make a cut at the bottom of the plastic wall on the driver’s side to get the wires for the 4-way connector, the green wire and connectors for the passenger’s side and the red 12v wire under the floor mat and through the grommet in the floor. I routed the green wire for the right side along the top of the hitch instead of under the mat or the plastic tail gate trim because I would either have to cut the green wire or the plastic wall on the passenger’s side in order to get the connectors into the access area in that side. I routed the green wire harness from the hitch up through a grommet in the bottom of the right side access area. Again the existing connector had to be pried off the metal it was attached to, but then it was then easy to access. After removing the grommets and cutting a slot for the wire, I replaced them and applied silicon caulking to seal them.
The Hopkins fold-over mounting bracket for the 4-way flat connector was supplied with two long sheet metal screws. The holes in the steel bracket welded onto the hitch were larger than the screws so I used some hardware that I had to attach the Hopkins bracket to the hitch bracket.
The video instructions say to route to red wire through the heat shield but, after six years the nuts and studs holding the shield rusted considerably and if one breaks, it would be difficult to replace. I routed the wire behind the heat shield over the rear axle, then down the driver’s side on the metal just behind the plastic rocker panel using some wire retainers with double face tape and some black sheathing that I had left over from another project, then around the cross-over brace behind the engine and up the left of the engine compartment to the inline fuse and the battery.
After all the wiring was completed I attached to black controller module to a flat panel inside the driver’s side access area with double faced tape and tywrapped the wires to keep them away from the seat belt wheel and the tire jack.
When all was complete I plugged in the connector tester and it showed the all the circuits worked correctly. The wiring took a total of 4 hours. Some of that time was spent getting access to the connectors behind the tail lights and figuring out how to run the 12v wire.
Hitch arrived on time as scheduled! Great packaging. Crazy solid construction made in Mexico not China . Install was just four bolts! I'm 66 , priced having it installed very high estimates and time delays . I watched install video carefully and installed it myself. It was simple. I didn't need a lift ,putting rear of the car on 2 in blocks would be perfect . After getting bolts in frame I blocked the hitch into position and put nuts on. I used my wife for 5 minutes to balance one side while putting nuts on first side . It went perfect . The fit is great , strength way beyond what Transit Connect needs , super solid. I took my time if I was putting on another one It would take less than 15 minutes.
I'm going to either put locktite on the four nuts or back up the nuts with nylon locking nuts for safety.
Saved a ton of money enjoyed the process, now I have to do wiring. Thanks Roger
This hitch was a perfect fit on my 2015 Ford transit connect wagon. I had no trouble at all with the installation. I watched the video of my exact vehicle being used to install the hitch. This video was very helpful. I recommend for a faster completion time, watch the video first.
I got this hitch so I could use my Thule T2 pro bike rack. I would definitely recommend this hitch, and etrailer.
Fantastic quality and VERY easy to install. I was skeptical at first since it's heavy by my standards, but I watched the video once, and was able to install it alone by MacGyvering a setup where I propped it up on a couple of paint cans (probably NOT recommended if you want to be safe.) All you really need is a hammer and a torque wrench. Took about 20 minutes.
etrailer is the BEST! Perfect fitting accessories and fast delivery. Every order I've made over the years has been so. Thanks!.. and Aloha from Hawaii
Delivered quickly and installed in minutes with just myself and my 15 year old son with no majorly special tools except a torque wrench.
The support I received for this trailer hitch, which claimed to be custom fit for my car, was exceptional. Here's why: I took the hitch and wiring assembly to 2 different mechanics and they estimated it would take 5-6 hours to install. Seemed strange for a "custom fit" accessory. So, I called etrailer to return the items, but they walked me through the installation process and I verified it, as I crawled under the car. I took the hitch and wiring assembly to a third mechanic with the same result. 5-6 hours installation. I asked if he would allow me to walk him through the installation (through the eyes of a very inexperienced mechanic - me). When we were done, he agreed to do the installation in less than 1 hour. Thank you support team!!!

Fantastic! I couldnt be happier. Its nice when you buy something that works as advertised and dont have to worry about it again. Thanks etrailer!!
What an easy installation. It did take the hour, and using a friends lift was easier than just jacking the van up. We did need to ground down the larger flats support items just a bit as they would not inset fully. 1/16 off at all was good.
It looks great on the back of the van and with the 1" sticking out past the bumper, it should protect just a bit if we were to back into anything flat like a wall.
I have installed 6-8 hitches in my 55 years of driving and this was the easiest ever. Ii will purchase my next hitch from you folks. and thanks for the video...what a help.

Same Trans Connect van, same hitch. I have used it about 6 times and all is well. Keep up the good work.
Order was very fast and accurate. Trailer hitch was correct to my vehicle and wiring harness easily affixed.

Love it. No problems.
Good price and fast shipping. Great site with awesome reviews and videos to compare products/features as well to make a well informed decision.
Hitch was extremely easy to install by myself in the driveway. It took approximately 45 min because my vehicle height is low and it was hard to maneuver myself and the hitch receiver around. The installation procedure itself is very straightforward and simple. It has been rock solid for the year since I first installed it. I chose draw Draw-Tite over Curt due to Curt requiring stabilizing straps or else you void the warranty.
Great service from eTrailer, and a great hitch!
This hitch was a perfect fit for the 2014 Ford Transit Connect Cargo Van. Hitch went on in about 30 minutes. The wiring harness was a little bit of a pain. Once you get it figured out it's pretty simple. Hint, don't bother with running the power wire to the battery. Get power from the wire to the rear cargo 12 volts power outlet. The vans are pre wired and fused for the outlet. The outlet wire is 20 amps, hot ignition on or off and will supply more than enough power for the trailer wiring. Be sure to use the 10 amp fuse and block provided in line on the power wire.
This trailer hitch has been extremely helpful for our business needs. In the last year we have driven 30,000 miles and most of those with this trailer hitch. Still no issues and it works perfectly! Highly recommend!
Trailer hitch for my work van. Very functional, although the ball hitch is very low and scrapes on bumps and driveways. Seller should advise of option to purchase hitch that that protrudes up to avoid scraping.
Awesome and Versatile Function. I use it for trailer, bike rack, short bed hitch and more. Solid, sturdy and meets weight capacity rating. Best investment made.
Very happy with custumer service, fast delivery, easy to install and looks very good quality
The ease of installation of this hitch was fantastic. I'm sure the installation was made easier because of the lift I used, but I could see it being easy to lay on the ground and install. The instructions were clear and helpful. Recommend highly! We will most often use this product with a cargo carrier and maybe a popup camper.
Installation could not have been easier. I watched the video and installed it the exact same way. Since my vehicle (2015 Ford Transit Connect) has only 8 inches or so of ground clearance I went with 4 jack stands and a creeper. Had it done in 30 minutes. Great product and the etrailer video was perfect.
Perfect fit has large holes for the trailer chains easy to lock on. Has the extra hole for a locking pin. and a mount for the wiring harness. Would recommend over others that I have seen installed on the same vehicle. Low profile look will not tear up legs when getting things out of the back. Tire has room to get out after you jack up the vehicle.
Installed this hitch on my 2016 Ford Transit Connect Wagon by myself without a lift in about 30 minutes. It took a little ingenuity but with two bottle jacks to lift the hitch up to the chassis one side at a time but it was possible. The routing of the hardware was simple with pull through provided and the only difficulty was the the 1/2" bolt plates fitting through the opening in the frame. I had to tap them through with a hammer. Make sure if you do this by yourself is to have all tools within reach and the pull through attached to each bolt be in place through the mounting holes in the hitch to insure you don't push the bolt back in the frame as you lift into place.
peeeerfect fit up just like the video shows I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a trailer hitch. Don't know anybody who does but I would. It pretty much plug and play I hid my wires to look professional and factory installed look. Thanks guys
