I placed the order with etrailer.com on Wednesday and received it on Friday. Great quality Curt product, easy to install with all hardware included.

by:
2010 FordRanger

Very easy to install, lined up exactly with the existing holes and bolts already on my dad's Ford Ranger. Had it on in about 10 minutes all by myself.

by:
2001 FordRanger

Product received in 3 business days. Product was as expected. Overall this was a very pleasant purchase experience with eTrailer.

by:
1994 FordRanger

Hitch fit perfectly. Arrived in two days, really fast shipping. No problems.
This is the way online shopping is suppose to be.

by:
2004 FordRanger

I got exactly what I ordered. It was shipped quickly. I am very pleased with the way you keep in touch with me every step of the way. Letting me know you received the order, all the way throught the process up to when it shipped and how to track the shipment. Thank you for all you do.

by:
1995 FordRanger

I got the standard free shipping and still received my hitch within 2 days. The product was great. I could have installed it myself, but to save myself the work I took it to a mechanic. They installed it for $45 and it was done in about 30 minutes.

The customer service from etrailer.com is amazing. They are very responsive to questions, their prices are unbeatable, and their selection is great. I will be recommending this company to everyone I know for their trailer needs.

Thank you etrailer.com!

by:
1997 FordRanger

Hitch arrived quickly and was easy to install. It's everything etrailer said it was. I was towing the same day my hitch arrived. It was a pleasure doing business with etrailer. Highly recommend both the trailer hitch and etrailer.

by:
2005 FordRanger

No Drilling required. All of the holes lined up with my 2005 Ranger. I would have had it done in 20 minutes because I was too lazy to lower the spare tire. Took a while to make sure the shims were in place and line everything up with the spare tire in place. The wiring harness on the drivers side was also troublesome. Instead it took 45. Hint: Use a floor jack to lift the hitch in place. You just have to guide it a bit with one hand while you are jacking. No sweat. One person job.

by:
2000 FordRanger

Exact fit. The difference from a bumper mounted ball to a frame mounted hitch is amazing. No more bounce, solid ride, and sometimes forget the loaded trailer is there. Allows me to adjust the height, and now my trailer rides flat and level. This is not a paid review, I am a scrapper and I haul tons of heavy metal all week long. You can use any part of this. I believe in word of mouth advertising.

Excellent! Its on my 2000 Ford Ranger and it towed my 25 boat to the ramp, no problem.

Very fast shipping comparable to (another site). Their kit for not only this hitch but also a different hitch for another brand of truck I got from them bolted on easily with the included instructions and hardware.

I run a pool cleaning business and needed this hitches to mount cart style pool vacuums too and both are holding up great with the constant use and chemical exposure! Thank you!!

by:
2004 FordRanger

Having installed more than a dozen trailer hitches throughout my life I can say that this was the easiest to install that I have done! Perfect fit, easy to attach with no issues. The hardest part was removing the J-bolt from the frame, and that wasn't that difficult really. I wish all of the hitches I have installed in the past were this easy! Big plus was how fast I got it, a day earlier that expected.

Still working great. Use it almost everyday. Bolts have never needed tightening and finish is still good with no rust or discoloration. Very pleased.

This has been a great add to my 2003 Ford Ranger. I added this at the same time I put on a new rear bumper, and the truck rear is a lot more appealing and usable. Heavy duty hitch receiver, maybe too much for this old Ranger. Very satisfied.

2003FordRanger

I ordered the "visible" Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2003 Mazda B2300 (2003 Ford Ranger Clone). I had read elsewhere that some people may have had a problem with the Curt "hidden" receivers getting in the way of the spare tire and I really don't mind the visible aspect of the receiver at all and I figured this would clear the spare tire easily, which it does. It fits the 2003 Mazda perfect and I didn't have to drill any holes. I installed it by myself so in the course of trying to figure out the best way to get it bolted on first I unwound the spare tire to get it out of the way. No big deal there. It became apparent that the weight of the hitch receiver in addition to the bumper itself was going to be to much to for me to hold up at the same time while I got the nus screwed onto the frame bolts so I first removed the bumper mount brackets completely and then bolted the hitch receiver and bumper bracket to the frame and torqued that down to 110 ft/lbs and then bolted the bumper to the bumper brackets. The whole installation took about 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Half of which was just figuring and fiddlin. Shipping time was good. I received the it 3 days past the order date. All around happy with the new solid hitch receiver. The step bumper tongue load capacity on these vehicles are weak to say the least. This frame mounted hitch receiver solved that problem.

1997 FordRanger

Excellent fit for my 1997 Ford Ranger (6' bed 4cyl). Package arrived in TWO days. Received hitch at 1300hrs and had it installed within 2 hrs! ... and I had to drill the two holes in the frame as mine didn't have the pre-drilled holes. easy-peasy. Bought another brand drom etrailer several years ago for my 2010 Subaru Forrester and it was almost as easy as thisd install. happy camper.

by:
2010 FordRanger

This hitch fits my 96 Ford Ranger quite well. As per the instructions, I had to drill two holes in the frame. It fit and it works. I use it quite often to pull a 5 x 10 ft trailer and large zero turn mower.

1999 FordRanger

The hitch installed without a hitch. It took me alone, less than 45 minutes to get it on. Im very happy with my purchase the shipping time and etrailer as a whole. I'm only towing a 10 foot single axel but the stock bumper hitch was already bending my bumper. The new hitch seems very sturdy and will handle my small trailer just fine.

by:

I watched videos on [etrailer] YouTube ahead of time and it was a breeze to install. 2 people would be the easy way but I used a floor jack and did it myself.

by:

Everything came quickly and fit right on just as it should very easy to install. Thank you very much

by:
1999 FordRanger

Hitch arrived in 3 days. Directions very clear. One hour start to finish as I did it alone with the help of the truck bottle jack. Much faster if 2 people. Perfect fit and spare tire cranks right back into place.

by:

Great hitch. Solid and compact. The hitch was slightly bent on arrival. Could have happened during shipping. I used a bottle jack and some blocks to spread the forward arm. Toughest part was drilling two holes in the pickup frame.

by:

I have bought 3 or 4 hitches from etrailer, they are a custom fit and very easy to install. Great product at a great price. Very fast shipping, got mine in two days.

by:
1999 FordRanger

Awesome.!! Awesome project start to finish. etrailer was FAST. easy to do. even on a 21 year old truck

Paula made the proof order super easy.

  • Trailer Wiring, Brake Controller, and Trailer Hitch for 2000 Ford Ranger
For your 2000 Ford Ranger you'd need to first start with a 4-way that fits your truck like the # 118344 and then convert it to a 7-way with part # ETBC7 which comes with all the wiring needed to install a brake controller as well like the iCommand part # TK63VR and that would be set. Then for a hitch the Curt part # 13019 would be a great option as it's made in the USA, installs easily, and has plenty of weight capacity.

The Curt Class II Trailer Hitch, part # 12012 mounts to the frame members under the rear of the bed. The frame members would be the same for that model year, regardless of the bed. You should have no fit issues with this hitch. Keep in mind that Curt does say to use a stabilizing strap # 18050 when using this hitch to carry non-trailer loads in order to comply with the warranty. Although the Curt is a great hitch, I recommend that my customers go with the Class III hitch when the option...

It is difficult to identify what hitch fits just by looking at the holes in the frame. However, I can tell you that the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13138 is confirmed to fit your 2004 Ford Ranger Edge. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a maximum gross trailer weight of 4,000 lbs and tongue weight of 400 lbs. If you would prefer the look of a square tube then the # 13019 also fits your Ford Ranger Edge. I have attached an installation video for your reference.

The difference between the Curt Class III Receiver Hitch part # 13019 and the Curt Class III Receiver Hitch part # 13138 is strictly aesthetics. The square tube option is a bit more cost effective and it matches the body lines on your 1992 Ford Ranger so this is what I recommend. According to my contacts at Curt Manufacturing, Ranger models manufactured after the 1997 model year will not have any spare tire clearance issues.
