Probably the easiest install I've done. After removing the cover it bolted right up with no issues. It is tucked away mostly so you don't really see it which is great. The ball ends up being about 1" away from the bumper though, so it can be a bit of a tight fit. Works great for hauling bikes and hauling trailers. 620176

2014 Ford Fusion

I'm looking for a foldable cargo carrier for this hitch that is going on my 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE. What do you have??????? 601398

Comments
I do have many cargo carrier options that will work with the 1-1/4 inch class 2 hitch on your Ford Fusion. We do not have any options that fold that will fit a 1-1/4 inch hitch at this time because of the lower weight capacities of 1-1/4 inch hitches. The folding mechanism can create extra torque on the trailer hitch and vehicle frame, possibly causing damage. I recommend Rola cargo carrier part # 63155
20x47 Reese Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" Hitches - Steel - 300 lbs
$238.95
. This carrier can handle up to 300 lbs of weight and features cutouts to add lights part # 98174LED
LED Light Kit for Draw-Tite, Tow Ready, Pro Series, and Rola Railed Cargo Carriers
$50.96
. It even features an angled shank for improved ground clearance on your Ford Fusion. Please keep in mind the Curt hitch part # C12091 can only handle up to 350 lbs of tongue weight. The Rola carrier is about 60 lbs so you can put about 290 lbs of cargo in the carrier. You will also want a hitch pin lock to lock the carrier to the hitch part # 1472DAT
Master Lock Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock - Swivel Head - Flush Design - 1-1/4" Hitches
$27.54
.

I recommend Curt cargo bag part # C18211
Curt Cargo Bag for Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier - Waterproof - 15 Cu Ft
$133.11
. This bag is considered waterproof compared to water resistant. The welded seam on the Curt bag helps prevent water leakage and it features a flap that keeps out dirt and moisture. Most water resistant bags are made of water resistant material but moisture can seep in through the zipper so the flap is very helpful if it rains on your trip. The dimensions of the bag will fit in the Rola cargo carrier part # 63155.

Super easy to install. Best if you can use car ramps to make getting under car easier. I also decided to do what the instructions and the videos say you don't need to do. That is modify the fascia to put back in place. I chose to do this as I have the Hybrid and wanted to maintain the aerodynamics that this piece provided. The one picture shows the 3 small pieces removed and not used.I went one step further and used stainless steel tape used for furnace ducts to stabilize the ends not attached by the stock screws. I do not feel I would have needed the tape to have a successful job. I then spray painted the tape black so you would not see it once vehicle was on ground. I am extremely please with the provided instructions and the video specific to my vehicle was outstanding. 541730

I can't work on cars as much as I used to, (getting old) but this hitch was in and completed in about 45 minutes. The only help I needed was the wife helped me lift it up into place holding one end up for a couple minutes with the guide wires through the holes in the hitch while I put one nut on my side. Then she left as I grabbed the side she lifted and stuck another loose nut on. It is best to leave the pull/guide wires on the bolts when lifting it up to prevent losing a bolt into the frame channel. They give you 4 pull guide wires just so you can do that. The help isn't for the weight but more so to make it easier to put the guide wires through the hitch holes as you raise it up into place. For one person it would be awkward. One thing is the directions. If not looked at carefully one might place the rectangular thick steel washers on the outside of the channel. Note that those washers are actually backing and strengthening plates for the frame channel and also keep the bolt from turning while tightening the nut and go """inside the channel""". Using the pull wires feed them through the access hole first before the bolt and they go in fairly easy. The bolt will pull back into them and through the frame fastening holes without a hitch. (not to use a pun here) That said installation was a breeze 71314

How was it removing the underbody panel? Im apprehensive about permanently removing something from a brand new vehicle. Is it noticeable visually? Any road noiseother issue? Just looking for some reassurance that removing this panel has no effect aesthetically or otherwise. Thanks!

The hitch arrived quickly and was the correct model to fit my car. I had it installed 2 days later and my mechanic said the Curt hitch installed easily and with no problems. We are excited to attach our new hitch bike rack to the car and take our 4 bikes out to a state park. Etrailer does a great job and sells quality products, I recommend them to anyone looking to purchase a hitch for their car or truck. 818541

Bought this receiver mainly for my bike carrier. I’ve been a mechanic and auto enthusiast for years and always helping friends work on their vehicles including mounting numerous receivers. This was by far the easiest one I’ve ever installed and didn’t even need to raise the rear end to do it in about 20 minutes. It is sturdy and gets the job done for small trailer towing as well! Highly recommend. 807580

Instructions rate this as "moderately" difficult. It's really very easy. If you can jack a car up and support it, you can put this hitch on. It's 4 bolts. Instruction video suggests a helper to support the hitch while bolting up. I didn't have one but managed easily myself. Really a simple install. Nicely finished hitch. Most is hidden under car. Only square receiver visible. Fish wires supplied with hitch are the key to this easy install. Very nice build quality on hitch, good welds, nice black painted finish. Hitch will be used for bike rack, light towing and cargo rack on a 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium. 801831

2019 Ford Fusion

Installation was really simple. The guide wires worked tremendously well. I didn't even have to lift the car. I installed this on a 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE. The only issue I had was getting it torqued to 110 lbs. I had to get some assistance with that. I think it would have been easier if I wasn't laying on the ground. So far the only thing I've used with it is a bike carrier. But it is perfectly stable. 795977

  • Trailer Hitch Hardware Recommendation for Curt for 2017 Ford Fusion
Curt hitches like the # C12091 do fit 2015 and 2017 Ford Fusions. Since you are missing most of the hitch though it's going to be easier for you to just replace the entire thing with a new # C12091. Otherwise we have the replacement hardware kit part # RHK which will require you to enter the part number of the hitch you have as well as select Curt from the drop down menu and we'll ship you out the correct hardware for the hitch.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12091 that you referenced which is a fit for your Fusion has a 350 lb tongue weight capacity but since the vehicle is lower it will need to be the figure you abide by. The weakest component when you are towing or hauling is always going to be your limiting factor. The other issue you would run into trying to haul a scooter with the above trailer hitch is...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid
Curt does not exclude the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid from the fits of trailer hitch # C12091. If you want to go the hitch route then you will also need to use a stabilization strap # 18050 per Curts warranty requirements. For a bike rack, I like the Swagman Titan, # S63400. This is a 2 bike rack that can tilt down. It features an integrated cable lock, and has a rise in the shank for added ground clearance.

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Fusion Titanium Hybrid for Bike Rack
2 inch hitches are reserved for higher capacity vehicles like trucks and large SUVs. I do not foresee a 2 inch hitch being available for your 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium. The only option I can recommend for you would be to go with a 1-1/4 inch hitch like the part # 24897 and then going with a compatible bike rack. The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack part # S64670. This rack has a ton of positive reviews from our...

  • Best Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class II # C12091 that you mentioned is your best bet for your 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid. There will be some trimming required to install it but that will be the case regardless of which product you choose. I have included the installation video for you to take a look at. Also, since you're using the hitch with a bike rack, Curt requires for their warranty that you use a Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap # 18050 for non-trailer loads.

  • Best Recommended Hitch for a Bike Rack and Towing a Small Trailer with a 2015 Ford Fusion SE Hybrid
You are correct. The Curt hitch # C12091 is the best choice based on weight capacity for your 2015 Ford Fusion, but for any non-trailer load like a bike rack or cargo carrier you will have to use a stabilization strap like # 18050 per the instructions from Curt. This would be the best choice if you don't mind having to install this strap each time you use a bike rack. Many customers dislike the need for the support strap so we typically recommend one of the other hitches available....

  • Why Does Trailer Hitch for 2013 Ford Fusion Have Higher Towing Capacity than Vehicle
Our trailer hitches are designed with the towing capacity of the vehicle they are intended for in mind, but they are then rated separately which is why you'll see a lot of time our hitches having higher towing capacities than the vehicles they fit. So we have the Curt hitch part # C12091 which is a great option that has a 3,500 lb towing capacity by itself, but when installed on your 2013 Ford Fusion it would have only the lower vehicle rating as the overall capacity.
