Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Was to install, clear instructions, works flawlessly. Great to buy a product that out of the package, delivers the service it was designed and advertised to do. Thanks so much.

I purchased a hidden hitch and wiring harness for a Ford Escape. Installation of both, was easy, following the provided instructions. The hitch itself is excellent quality, looks great on the vehicle.

'08 Escape Hybrid:
Fit and finish are
excellent. This is my second Hidden Hitch on a Ford. This Escape model is a more than adequate receiver for the light to medium towing that this Hybrid is capable of.
Manufacturer's instructions were decent, however a bit vague when it came to the details on fishing the bolts and plates through the frame rail. I figured it out and the beast bolted up effortlessly.
Most importantly, the holes lined up and the attachment dimensions were spot on. No forcing needed.
I really like the bent round tube design of this receiver. It fits well under the bumper/valence and doesn't hang down like that of a utility truck.

I recently purchased the Hidden Hitch trailer hitch for our Ford Escape. The hitch arrived on time and in great condition. Using a 2x6 and a floor jack, I raised it into position. I used the pull wires supplied with the hitch to place all 6 bolts into position, added the conical washers and nuts and tightened / torqued everything down. Total time for the install was less than 2 hours. I did the install by myself. I would recommend buying this hitch to anyone with an Escape.

by:

The Class III Hidden Hitch was very easy to install as I was able to install the hitch by myself. I inserted a bolt from the outside through the rear most hole of the hitch and the vehicle frame on the right and left side and that held the hitch in place for me to snake the bolts with washer in the proper place. After 2 bolts were snaked through on both sides I removed the initial bolt from both sides and snaked the final bolts in place. I haven't figured out the easy way to remove the snake off the bolt as the snake threaded section would tighten on the bolt as it was turned counter clockwise. Removing the snake from the bolt was the most time consuming part of installing the hitch. The bolts provided are long enought to keep you fingure on the threads to put on the washer and nut without fear of pushing the bolt back into the frame.

The wiring was also easy to install but I took extra care removing the plastic as I didn't want to damage anything. I viewed the installation instructional video which was very helpful and gave me confidence to do the job right.

  • Why Would Draw Tite Hitch Seem to Have Hitch Pin that is Too Small
If you have a Draw Tite hitch for your 2011 Ford Escape like the # 75751 there is actually a second smaller hole drilled into the hitch tube that's to be used with a j-pin style anti rattle device. Most likely this is what isn't allowing your hitch pin to fit. I would recommend checking to make sure you are trying to use the larger hitch pin hole and not the smaller one.

  • Maximum Towing Capacity of a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid with 2.3L Engine
According to the owner's manual, the maximum towing capacity of your 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid with the 2.3L engine is 1,500 lbs. Therefore, I cannot recommend you use this vehicle to tow a 4,500 lb trailer. If you find a trailer within the above capacity then you will need a trailer hitch, trailer wiring, and ball mount/hitch ball in order to tow it. For a trailer hitch, I recommend using the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75751 which is Class III rated and has a 2" receiver...

  • Will Draw-Tite Class III Part # 75751 Fit 2010 Ford Escape With Exhaust Dampener
I contacted our representative at Draw-Tite, and he informed me that the Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 75751, is the latest design that is made to fit Ford Escape models with the exhaust dampener. Yes, the Hidden Hitch Class III Hitch, part # 75751 will fit your 2010 Ford Escape with exhaust dampener without any modifications needed to be made. I have linked a video install of part # 75751 on a 2010 Ford Escape as well as instructions that may be of good reference.

  • Trailer Hitch For 2011 Ford Escape
The hitch I recommend for your 2011 Ford escape is the Draw-Tite Class lll Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 75751. This hitch has a 2 inch receiver and does not require trimming the fascia for installation. I have included an installation video of this hitch on a 2011 Ford Escape you can check out. I also recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit, part # 989900. This includes 2 ball mounts, 2 hitch balls, the pin and clip, and a handy bag for storage. I have included a link to a product...

  • Recommend Ball Mount For Draw-Tite 75751 On 2010 Ford Escape
The recommended ball mount for your 2010 Ford Escape is the Draw-Tite Ball Mount, part # 2923. This ball mount works for most folks, but you can measure for yourself to see the exact rise or drop you need. When we installed the Draw-Tite on a 2011 Escape with stock tires, we found that the inside top of the receiver tube was 17 inches above the ground. To determine the rise or drop needed, measure the distance from the underside of the trailer coupler to the ground (while the trailer is...

  • Can 1-1/4 Inch Factory Hitch on 2010 Ford Escape Be Removed to Install 2 Inch Hitch
I have some good news for you! The Curt # C13651 and Draw-Tite # 75751 will install on your 2010 Ford Escape without having to remove the factory hitch. I have attached the installation instructions, a video, as well as a picture to illustrate how this will look once on your vehicle. Please keep in mind that both hitch receivers will still be functional but should not be used at the same time. Using both receivers at the same time could overload your vehicle and cause damage. • Recommended Hitch for a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid
The best way to tow your Kawasaki Ninja with your Ford Escape is going to be with the etrailer Trailer Hitch item # e56AR. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Escape with included hardware. It is confirmed to fit the Hybrid model Escapes. I recommended this hitch because out of the available options this will be the best one for your application. It has plenty of capacity with 3,500 lbs gross towing weight and 350 lbs tongue weight. Tongue weight is typically 10% -15% of your trailer's...

  • Tow Capacity of A 2005 Ford Escape XLT 3.0L V6
The hitches available for the 2005 Ford Escape like part # 75751 will not increase the towing capacity of the Ford. From what I can tell from my research the 2005 Ford Escape XLT 3.0L V6 can tow up to 3,500 lbs according to the owner's manual. Adding an aftermarket hitch would not change the towing capacity that was set by the vehicle manufacturer because the amount of weight the vehicle can tow takes into account all of the competences of the vehicle not just the hitch receiver. • How to Confirm Towing Capacity of 2008 Ford Escape
You'll want to confirm the fully-loaded weight of the trailer you wish to tow and compare that to both the vehicle's rating as noted in the owner's manual and to the rating of the hitch that is on it, or the one you intend to install. Many vehicles, including your 2008 Ford Escape (I drive an 08 Escape too!) can vary in their towing capacity depending on the specific equipment. If a car and the hitch you put on it have different towing capacities then the lower of the two always becomes...

  • Recommended Hitch Fit for 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid
I'd recommend a Curt Class III receiver for your Escape. Curt makes a great product with a durable powder coat finish. The hitch you need will depend on if your Escape is already equipped with the factory 1-1/4 inch hitch. If it is, you'll want to use # C13651. If it isn't, use # 13650. As confirmed by Curt, these hitches are compatible with the hybrid model, and the only slight issue you might run into is if your Escape is equipped with the exhaust dampener as shown in the provided...

We do offer several hitches that are confirmed to fit your 2012 Ford Escape. Of all the hitches we offer I recommend the Draw-Tite Hitch, part # 75751. This hitch is a Class lll hitch with a 2 inch receiver opening. When I checked out the photos of the hitches we offer that fit your Escape, this one appears to be the least conspicuous.
