Hidden Design for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Stealth trailer hitch is designed to be completely out of sight when you're not towing. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once installed, the cross tube will be completely concealed and only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. But unlike other hitches with hidden cross tubes, the Stealth goes one further. You can remove the receiver portion of the hitch for a completely out-of-sight setup. To mount the receiver, just insert it up into the access port that is built into the cross tube. Secure the receiver to the hitch with the supplied bolt and washers. When you're done towing, just remove the receiver portion to return your vehicle to its clean, factory appearance.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will stand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Stealth trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

Video Transcript for EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Installation - 2019 Subaru Crosstrek

Today on our 2019 Subaru Crosstrek, we're gonna be installing EcoHitch's class II one and a quarter inch stealth trailer hitch receiver. And this is what our hitch looks like when it's installed. The cross tube is gonna be completely hidden behind the bumper, so you're only going to be able to see the receiver tube sticking out the back here. And if appearance is one of the biggest concerns when purchasing a hitch, this is one of the best options, because the receiver tube here can be removed by simply taking out the single bolt here, and dropping the whole tube down. You can store it in a storage compartment in the back and nobody's even the wiser that you've got a hitch installed. This is a class II, one and a quarter by one and a quarter inch receiver, so it's going to be great for all of your light towing needs. From bike racks to cargo carriers, and very light towing.

It uses a half inch hitch pin and clip, doesn't come with a hitch pin and clip, but if you need one you can pick one up here at etrailer.com.The safety chain loops are gonna be located on the cross tube, tucked up behind the bumper here. They are hidden, so you're going to have to take a peek underneath if you want to see where they're at. And they have a pretty large opening, so it should accommodate most safety chains. It features the 350 pound tongue weight, that's the force going down on top of the receiver. And a 3500 pound gross towing capacity. That's how much you can pull behind it.

And you do want to verify in your vehicle owners manual to ensure you don't exceed any of it's towing capacities. Now I've got some measurements for you to help you when deciding on accessories. From the ground to the top inside of the receiver tube, it measures about 15 inches. This is important when determining if you need a drop, rise, or raise shank in any of your accessories. And from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the rear bumper, it measures about three inches. This is important when determining if any of your folding accessories can be placed in the upright storage position without contacting the bumper. We'll begin our installation underneath the rear of the vehicle, we want to place a strap on our vehicle to support our exhaust, because we're going to have to lower that down, so we'll go ahead and get that in place.

And then we'll take our pry bar and some lubricant and remove our exhaust hangers. There's gonna be one on your passenger side, two on the drivers side, and then one just in front of your rear suspension there. We'll spray it with a little bit of lubricant, and then you can just pry it right off of there. We'll then repeat that for the remaining three hangers. We can now lower our exhaust down, just use your strap to help just ease it down out of your way.On the bottom side of your frame rail now, you're gonna find some rubber plugs, you're going to need to remove those with a flat bladed screwdriver, so you can simply pop underneath of those, and then pull them down. And we're going to do this on the other side as well. Then take your coiled wire that comes in your kit, you're going to push it out through the rearmost hole, go towards the front of the vehicle, because this is a larger hole here.

And sometimes you need to bend your fish wire a little bit to make sure it angles down towards that hole. Once you've got it fed through you can take the bolts that come in your kit, you're gonna take one, you'll place a star washer on it, followed by a spacer block. Now if your spacer block doesn't fit, you may need to ream it out, to get your bolts to slide through it. There's some powder coat in there, sometimes you just gotta knock that coating off, it makes it hard to get bolts through. Now we can thread our bolt onto our fish wire, and we're gonna feed it up into the hole in the frame. I like to push the spacer up first, just makes it a little easier. Then the bolt, pull it back through, and pull it down. You can then remove your coiled wire, and you're going to repeat this on the other side. For our front hole, we're gonna do the reverse pull-wire technique. For the reverse pull-wire method, you're gonna take your bolt, your gonna place your star washer on it, followed by your spacer. You might need to clean that out so it fits properly. And then thread your bolt onto your coiled wire, now you can slide your bolt up, follow that with your star washer and your spacer block, and then just pull it back down. And then we'll repeat that on the other side. Now with our hardware in place we'll get an extra set of hands to help us lift our hitch into position, so you want to raise it up and make sure not to push your bolts back into your frame. Once you've got your hitch lifted up, you're going to place on two flat washers, followed by a lock washer, and a nut. Once you get one nut installed on each side, it will hold your hitch in position making it easier to install the rest of your hardware. With all of our hardware in place you can now tighten and torque it to the specifications found in your instructions. We can now take our receiver, we're gonna slide it up into the bottom of our cross tube, we'll take the long bolt with a lock washer, followed by a flat washer placed on it, through the hole, and then thread it in. We can now tighten and torque our hardware to the specifications found in our instructions. We'll use a 15/16 socket to do this. Now we can reinstall our exhaust. You can take your strap down, and your installation is complete. You're ready to hook up your trailer and hit the road. And that completes our installation of EcoHitch's class II one and a quarter inch stealth trailer hitch receiver on our 2019 Subaru Crosstrek.

The workmanship of the hitch exceeded my expectations. The finish was much better than the drawite I have on my truck. Installation was very easy, instructions good. 481474

The box got damaged in transit, and - amazingly - so did the bag holding the bolts, etc, which fell out of the hole in the box. So we had to get replacements from our local hardware store. Fortunately, they (Moorestown Hardware) had the right bolts, washers, and nuts. So we were able to do the install. Also, fortunately, we did not have to drop the muffler to install the hitch. The hitch slipped right past the muffler. Great design. It took over 2 hours to install, though, because of the trip to the hardware store. 564530

Do you have a question about this Trailer Hitch?

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2019 Subaru CrossTrek
  • Yes, for the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek we have the EcoHitch part # 306-X7365 confirmed as a fit. This a 2 inch hitch that has a removable hitch opening so that when not in use no part of the hitch would be visible. The 2 inch hitch size is the most popular which means most accessories will be made to fit it and it will have great towing capacities. If for some reason you wanted the smaller 1-1/4 inch size we have the # 306-X7366 as well.

  • EcoHitch and Recommended Bike Rack for a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek
  • We do have both a 1-1/4" EcoHitch # 306-X7366 and a 2" EcoHitch # 306-X7365 that are confirmed to fit your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. Out of both options I recommend going with the 2" receiver as it allows you to use a wider variety of accessories like a bike rack. I have attached an installation video that you can check out. The installation is identical for both trailer hitches so it is a good reference no matter which way you go. If you don't already have a bike rack then I highly...

  • Will the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13382 Fit a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek
  • The only trailer hitches that are currently listed as a fit for your 2019 Subaru Crosstrek (as of September 2018) are both from EcoHitch. These are parts # 306-X7365 (2" receiver) and # 306-X7366 (1-1/4" receiver). None of our other manufacturers have a fit listed as of yet. I recommend going with the part # 306-X7365 that has the 2" receiver as it will allow you to use a wider variety of accessories. • Concealed and Visible Trailer Hitch Options for 2018 Subaru Crosstrek
  • For your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek we offer several hitch options, all shown on the linked page, that include both 1-1/4-inch Class II and 2-inch Class III types. We generally always recommend the 2-inch option when it is available since these hitches typically offer a higher weight capacity for towing and much broader compatibility with the range of available accessory items like bike racks and cargo baskets. Also among the hitch options are products that have a completely hidden crosstube,...

  • I went out to the warehouse to measure the distance from the face of the receiver on EcoHitch # 306-X7366 to the center of the hitch pin hole and found it was 2-1/4" so you will be fine using your Kuat Sherpa bike rack.

  • Invisible Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Crosstrek
  • If you want a trailer hitch designed to fit your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek that will be totally invisible when you aren't towing you'd want the EcoHitch part # 306-X7366. This hitch has a lower section that totally removes when not in use so that the hitch isn't seen. The Curt # C13382 that you referenced would still fit but the hitch tube would always be present. The EcoHitch does not require any trimming to install so your rear bumper as it sits not would not be affected. For a bracket...
