Hidden Cross Tube for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once the hitch is installed, only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. This means that your vehicle can maintain its stylish, from-the-factory look, and you won't have to do any major modifications to its body or frame.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will withstand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

Wow, this hitch purchase and installation went very well. Color me impressed! I received the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" from Colorado to Arizona only a couple of day after ordering it. I was surprised. The hitch installed very easily as the instructions we clear and concise. I bought this particular hitch because it did not interfere with the existing kick-hatch sensor. Post installation I verified that indeed, the sensor still worked to open the hatch. Six bolts and she is done. Kudos to Ford CMAX and Etrailer for their mutual design. I am super happy and am ready to haul around my e-bike wherever I go. Thank you etrailer for the precision hitch, fast shipping and cleat instructions. I would highly recommend your company to anyone in need of a fist rate trainer hitch!

Great hitch, super solid, use it on our C-Max to carry 2 heavy Ebikes. Very glad there was a 2" receiver hitch option for the car.

by:

I have enjoyed using my hitch. I did have to find a private shop to install it, as the dealer would not. It is easy to use and worry- free. My ebike rack fits on it very well. I can put it on and off singke-handedly. I'd buy one again!

Excellent product - solid, substantial, and very well-made. Installation took right around 40 minutes, as the listing suggested it should.

Not sure how 2021 Subaru Impreza was listed - my vehicle is a 2017 Ford C-Max. Other comments still hold true. The hitch has worked exactly as intended. I have a flat cargo carrier that mounts to the hitch, and I have used a large plastic tub to carry luggage, etc. - exactly as I HAD ENVISIONED.

2015 Ford C-Max

This was the only tow bar with a 2 inch receiver for my car. I'm glad I got it because I really like the EcoHich design. This installed super easy. All I had to do was remove the muffler mounts and re-bold them on with this bad-boy. With two people, an impact wrench, and a lift it's an easy 20 minute project.

However, I did it in 60 minutes with a creeper, my 9 year old, and a set of socket wrenches. (Honestly I grabbed another adult to hold the bar up while doing the initial bolting, I didn't want my son dropping it on my head).

Bolts right into the frame. Uses the existing holes and threads. I haven't connected my bike rack or small trailer yet. I expect no problems.

Note: ensure you avoid other products that requiring drilling more holes or using floss nuts. They aren't needed, this one takes advantage of the manufacturers design.

I ordered an EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver- Custom Fit-2”. Received it in 2 days. I installed it as soon as I received it, same day. A bit heavy so I used a floor jack to hold the weight. I was able to move it into place and attach it without help. It took me less than an hour to install. A lot easier than I thought it would be. Fits perfectly. Very happy with this purchase.

by:

Able to install it myself. A big plus.

by:

Installation was not easy, but the hitch has worked very well for the past year.

One year later, still working perfectly!

by:

Perfect Fit!! Tucks away nicely.

by:

The hitch is quite a challenge to install but doable — having some assistance is highly advisable. Fully satisfied with this purchase. I'd give it five stars if it had the option for wide-set mounts for my (weird) bike rack's stabilizer straps. Also, using the hitch sometimes triggers the "foot sensor" under my car and pops the hatchback. This is dealt with by not having the key fob in range when installing/removing the rack from the hitch.

The hitch still works fine. Would recommend 100.

I am using this hitch with a Ford C Max for a Thule Easyfold XT2 bike rack. My mechanic installed the hitch for me with the instruction to return after about a week of light use to check the bolts. The hitch works with the bike rack, but unfortunately it disabled the hands free hatch on the car despite information on the etrailer site that stated it was compatible with this feature of the car.

It is possible that the Curt trailer hitch will block the sensor for the hands-free liftgate. In some cases, it will just limit the coverage area of the sensor. Ford must angle the sensor differently amongst vehicles because some people seem to have trouble and others do not. You can try the side sensors instead of the middle one.

Ez shopping experience and right hitch for my car. One mounting hole was slightly off that i had to ream out, but overall a great product. Worked great with my new bike rack

The hitch receiver fits perfectly. The instructions were clear. The bolts are the correct size but have the wrong thread. I had to go find the correct bolts at an automotive parts store. Suggest you use automotive bolts that include an alignment tip with no threads (same as those that come with the car) to make it easier to start the bolts into the threaded nuts.

What happens when the supplied hitch bolts will not start in the threads of your weld nuts is that the weld nuts have been exposed to dirt, grime, moisture and salt. With help from a wire brush and some spray lubricant, a few simple steps can be taken to make your weld nuts clean and grime free, ensuring an easier installation of your trailer hitch. We have an FAQ below that talks about the best way to clean out the weld nuts. The manufacturer wants to have the hardware that comes with the hitch used or it voids the warranty.

First, I had a shipping notification in less than 2 hours after ordering. In 2 days, the hitch was under the car.
The hitch itself is very well made, and was a perfect fit to the car. Honestly, this was the easiest hitch install that I've ever done...and I've done a bunch of 'em.

It was a great install for my Ford Cmax, it bolted right in just had to bend one tab out of the way. I use it to mount a heavy duty bike carrier for E-bikes. Highly recommended and better with a 2 inch to fit the carrier than a smaller hitch and having to use a converter.

2016 Ford C-Max

Attached without issue - followed the directions to the letter. Looks Great on the C-max.

by:

Used this hitch to tow a Uhaul 4’x8’ trailer from Florida to California with my Ford C-Max. Install is super easy, no drilling needed, but a little tricky without a lift or higher ramps. I ended up having it installed because I needed a lighting harness put in as well... did it’s job just fine, and now that the move is over I’m glad I spent more for the concealed style car the less expensive Curt... Very happy with this purchase, worked great for me, looks like it’ll be in use for the life of the car.

Bought this 306-X7200 2” Trailer Hitch for our 2017 Ford C-Max Energi for the purpose of attaching a Hollywood Sport Rider SE2 (for 2 electric bikes) which requires a 2” trailer hitch receiver. The instructions said a sheet metal tab on the car needed to be bent out of the way on the passenger’s side - but I had to bend both passenger and driver’s side tabs back out of the way. Once the tabs were out of the way and the exhaust brackets were temporarily rotated out of the way, the hitch could be moved into place, exhaust brackets rotated back into place, and new bolts inserted. Very high-quality 2” hitch, built for my car!

This hitch receiver fit my Ford C-Max Energi perfectly; which allowed me to add a read storage rack. I recommend this hitch receiver.

by:

Glad I found you folks and the EchoHitch. Had it a year now and works great, looks great, no rust. Perfect to tote around my big heavy E-Bike. Oh easy to install without drilling. Thanks, etrailer!

by:
2015 Ford C-Max

Easy to install. Would have been 5 starts but the 2" receiver hitch mount is rated for less lbs than the smaller hitch. That doesn't make much since.

by:

So far so good. Easy setup. They may have changed the model slightly because I didn't have to bend anything to make it fit. My friend who weighs about 220# stood on the hitch and bounced a bit and this thing did not budge. I'm glad I paid extra so that I didn't have to drill.

2016 Ford C-Max

Great fitted for Ford C-Max 2016 energi pretty easy install. Didn’t need to jack the car up. Instructions say to bend a piece of metal on the passenger side, as mentioned in other comments I bent on drivers side also and this made it possible to fit.

It would not hurt to use The Stabilizer Straps # 18050 on The EcoHitch # 306-X7200 because it will provide extra support which is always a good thing.
