Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2022 Volvo XC90

I have purchased and installed a few Draw-Tite hitches and have yet to be disappointed. Quality-made product. Everything you need to install is included. Easy to install.

This hitch was installed on a 2022 Volvo XC90 T6 Inscription. Hitch installation only required about one hour with a little bit of prep and clean-up time. For this specific vehicle, the heat shield only required a minor nip (and not as much as the instructions suggested), and the facia was already shaped to accommodate the hitch (maybe factory finished for a towing option?).

Two suggested additional steps to the installation that we have done with every hitch project: 1) Lightly sand and apply a bit of paint to the mounting surface after removing the bumper; it is usually bare metal and sometimes already starting to oxidize. 2) Apply a little bit of anti-seize to the fasteners for the bumper / hitch.

We are very satisfied with the hitch and the upgrade to our vehicle!

This is the second hitch I purchased from etrailer. Once again, the installation instructions and fit were excellent. I did have bit of trouble with flattening a bracket in order to get the hitch to lay flat. The instructions and video showed it cooperating, but mine had other ideas. It was several trial and errors to get the hitch mounted flat. I got quite good at installing and removing the rear fascia.

2020 Volvo XC90

2020 Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrid. Yes it fits. I’ve installed several of these and the holes need “convincing” with a rubber mallet against the bolts to fit. It’s frustration but a little creativity goes a long way. If the holes lines up without coaxing I’d give this 5 Stars. Tap the bolts with a 2x4 wood buffer and a rubber mallet until it goes into the hitch hole. At this point you may have damaged the thread on the bolts so take the nuts and tightening them all the way down to re-thread the bolt. Then take the bolts off and attached them metal bumper plate and attach the bolts again. Also, take your time taking the plastic trim pieces off. Putting them back on requires patience. Don’t use too much force. It’s the plastic tabs are in the right place, snapping them in does not take much effort. Good luck!

2024 Volvo XC60

Bought this for a 2024 XC60 Recharge. Found that the instructions don’t adequately address how to deal with properly reattaching the facia to the hangers under the car. The hitch really should not be as hard to install as it ended up being. Due to this one issue. If I had to do it over again, I would not by the draw tight and would try another solution. The only way I found to make it work was to drill some extra holes into the bracket and use the extra holes pre drilled in the facia.

Volvo XC60

Installation on the Volvo XC60 was easy and the fit is good. Because of the way it sandwiches in-between the bumper and frame it adds a little thickness so the lower mounts (where the bottom portion of the plastic valence screws into the two metal hangers) no longer aligns, but this is not a major concern. If you cut a roughly 3"x3" square in lower portion of the plastic everything aligns. You may need to push the heat shield a little, too. The installation video posted to YouTube was very helpful.

by:
2010 Honda Fit

Pretty easy to install, although you have to remove the bumper skin. The hardest part is getting the heat shield support screws aligned back with the bumper skin after bending the heat shield to clear the new hitch. Be sure to check alignment before you screw the bumper skin back on, as it is far easier to bend the heat shield supports without the bumper skin on.

Wow, first purchase from e trailer and I am very happy. Ordered my hitch last night and it was delivered by 2 pm the next day!! Amazing, now my family can take the trip this weekend instead of next week. Very easy install on my Volvo. Thanks ettailer!!!!!!

by:

Installed well in all regards by prof. installer; happily, no facia cutting was necessary. Install looks like new car equipment. My fingers are crossed that the chain hangers won’t be a problem as low as they are. 2023 Volvo XC60.
etrailer was excellent to work with—I’m a fan!

Fantastic hitch. Easier to install than I was expecting. Some very minor trimming of the plastic and heat shields. Watch the etrailer video and you can’t go wrong.

Installed it myself at home. Youtube videos helped. Was fairly easy. Happy I went this route instead of hiring someone. It has beena year and I have towed boats and a pop up camper with no issues. I drive a Volvo XC90

2018 Volvo XC60

Hitch worked out OK. Needed to trim fascia more than was indicated in the instructions (notch at each side plate). Also, our XC60 has the sensor that opens/closes the tailgate if you move your foot below the drivers side rear bumper, which made fitting a bit more challenging. Instructions were pretty vague, so it helped to look at the install instructions for the factory hitch/wiring harness (google instructions 31454723 for part 31439424) for details of how to remove body components. Factory hitch definitely would have installed quicker, for a few more $$$.

by:

Difficult to remove vovlo bumper them the hitch went on the frame well. Fit under bumper skin well, low enough that putting hitch in receiver goes easily.
Looks pretty good.

2019 Volvo XC90

Yesterday I installed this Drawtite hitch on my 2019 Volvo XC90. Dealer said it would be $1,600 and would require programming the cars computer to do the taillights.
We installed the hitch and taillight kit from etrailer yesterday. It took about 2 hrs. It was a perfect fit. It did not require dropping the muffler nor notching the heat shield. We did notch the bumper but Volvo already had the notch marked!
Light kit worked perfectly
Oh... ETrailer for hitch and light kit: about $ 1300 less than what the dealer quoted..,.

by:

Great, clean install on 2019 Volvo XC90. Installation video was super helpful to self-install in approximately 2 hrs. Minor bumper trimming required (but can't be seen from looking at vehicle). No other modifications required -- just bolt it on. Paired the install with a Volvo OEM tow wiring harness to get: OEM 7-pin/4-pin plug, integration with stability control, backup camera tow bar function, and trailer lighting checks.

by:

I haven't towed yet so this review is for the install and fit. It fits perfectly. Followed the clear instructions from the video on your website and it was a straight-forward install on my 2019 XC90. The trickiest part is the lower bolts - I couldn't get the threads to bite until I put in the new 4th screw and tightened it up a bit. I had to go back and forth between the two lower bolts until they were snug. I was also a bit nervous about taking off the rear fascia but using the same panel removal tool as in the video made it easy and nothing to be worried about. Just took my time and everything went smoothly. Also, I measured and cut the fascia just as instructed and it came out perfectly and that was the first time using a Dremel cutting tool (I know, I should have practiced first, but it worked out). This was a good project and worth my time to do myself. Took about 2.5 hours including cleanup.

Amy was fantastic in addressing my rush delivery. The hitch arrived promptly as promised

by:
2022 Volvo XC90

Low profile, everything needed to install, looks great!!

One note: If you're having a shop do the install, explicitly tell them they'll need to cut notches into the bumper to make it flush. The shop I worked with, didn't do a clean job cutting the notches.

by:

Very sturdy hitch. Installation was not too hard, but not too easy either. Very satisfied.

by:

Works great with our bike rack, though I am not a fan of the shape of the hitch which lowers the road clearance an inch or two and looks bulky. This may or may not be important to you.

2022 Volvo XC90

Perfect fit and easy to install. The 2021 installation video works fine for the 2022 model year. I did not need to trim the heat shield nor the bumper fascia, so it was just a bit easier than the video showed. Watch the whole video and unpack the bag inside the hitch before you start. Took about two hours with my son helping me.

by:

People were nice to deal with, and the product is satisfactory in every way

by:

2019 Volvo XC60
I read the reviews indicating
it takes about 2 hours to install. I was able to use only the directions and have it completed in 1 hour, give or take. Its not hard, but paying attention to details when removing the bumped cover is the most difficult part. Also, having a set of ramps available so you can get under the car is helpful, but not necessary.
The part fit perfectly and required minimum trimming under the car. Someone noted that Volvo has marked the area your trim, but I couldn't find such markings. Still it was easy to measure and cut where necessary.
I would recommend this over the dealership option.

by:

I'm handy, however didn't know if I could install a hitch. I didn't know exactly what the hitch height would be, or how far/if it would stick out. I, frankly, didn't know what questions I should have been thinking about. However etrailer had a complete step-by-step installation video with every dimension I would want to know. My 3 year old son and I installed this together, following the video, in a couple hours. It was extremely straightforward. The product is great and is exactly what I wanted - strong, easy to install, and doesnt stick out past the bumper. The video made it a great experience. I could not be more satisfied.

  • Does 2024 Volvo XC60 Recharge Rear Bumper Fascia Need to Be Trimmed to Install a Hitch Receiver
Great question, Tex! You are correct that both the Curt # C92WR and Draw-Tite # 76194 trailer hitch receivers have the same basic design for your 2024 Volvo XC60 Recharge. We actually had the opportunity to install the Curt on a 2024 XC60 so if your XC60 Recharge has the same cutout in the bumper that we show in the video (and I've attached in a photo) then you won't have to trim anything or hammer anything into place. If the rear bumper on your XC60 Recharge doesn't have the cutout then...

It's just a thin piece of plastic that extends past your bumper underneath the SUV. Trimming this piece allows the 2" receiver and the safety chain loops to extend below the vehicle and bumper. • Why Can't Draw Tite Hitch 76194 be Used with Weight Distribution
The reason the Draw Tite hitch part # 76194 can't be used with a weight distribution system is due to how it attaches to the vehicle. What we have found is that if it attaches along the bottom of the frame rails it can be used with a WD system, assuming the vehicle can handle it, but if it attaches to the back of the frame like this hitch it cannot be used with a WD. It just puts too much torque on a portion of the frame that is smaller so it can't handle the stress.
