Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2011 Ford Flex

Much easier to install than I thought it was going to be. I didn't even have to drop the exhaust. The wife helped me lift it into position on the driveway.

Excellent!

by:

Haven't had a chance to install the hitch yet but was blown away at how fast it was shipped and how well the transaction was handled.

by:
2012 Ford Flex

I am 65 and it took me only 40 min for both the hitch and wiring!!

by:

Great hitch and easy to install, took about 20-25 minutes to install alone. Tucks in high and tight to the rear valance and does not extend past the bumper when installed.

by:

Fit perfectly. Easy to install. On-line videos really helped with a quick installation.

I had to change my order mid-stream due to delay in ability to get one part. etrailer made it seamless and got me the order on time.

by:
2009 Ford Flex

Not as clean as a Ford OEM hitch, but for the price this hitch mounted very easily and still looks good! Etrailer was very quick with shipping.
Thanks!

This is the third time I have ordered frometrailer.com. Every time the hitch has arrived on or before it was scheduled, in perfect condition, and the part was exactly as described. I was able to install this hitch in 15 minutes. It looks great and fits perfectly.

by:
2010 Ford Flex

Talk about a quick response. I ordered the Draw-Tite 75679 on a
Wednesday, received it Friday, and had it installed in 20 minutes
on Monday. I chose this receiver because it specifically fit my
2010 Ford Flex without drilling additional holes or making any
modifications. Another big plus was the installation video I was
able to review, Flex specific. I'm impressed all around.

by:
2009 Ford Flex

have not attached the product yet. however this is my second hitch from e-trailer and all companys that sell products on-line should model themselves off of e-trailer. From purchasing the products, tracking and delivery you are the best!

by:

Deliver time was great. 40 minutes to install the first 3 screws. 20 minutes to try and figure out why the 4th screw hole didn't line up. 20 minutes on phone with customer support, they told me to hitch may have flexed during shipment and to place it in a vice (or between my steps) and bend it. Hitch was so close to my gas tank that it was digging in to it. I couldn’t even get a piece of paper between the tank and hitch. Customer support said that this was ok . Another hour figuring out how to get the holes to line up and the frame to fit without hitting the gas tank. This would have been an easy install if the screw holes lined up.

by:

Ordered the trailer hitch on Saturday and it arrived on Wednesday in great shape.(free shipping) It took me about an hour to install the hitch including the wiring harness. This was the first time I had put a hitch on my vehicle and it couldn't have been easier. I did have some help from my neighbor because it is easier with two people lining up the bolts. I highly recommend etrailer.

by:

This Hitch is great. Etrailer sent it to me with in a week, it was well packaged and all the parts were sealed nicely. The instructions are a little sparse, but I had already studied the online help and didn't really need them. Installation took all of 20-30 minutes. Only needed to remove rear exhaust hanger to get hitch in place. Hitch and exhaust use same mounting holes.

by:
2009 Ford Flex

Fit and finish was very impressive on our 2009 Flex SE. You hardly see the hitch hanging out under the bumper. The bolt holes on the muffler side are elongated to make installation easier which was nice, and the other side has a little give as well. Only thing that was difficult was the hardware was extremely tight and difficult to ratchet down in the frames weld nuts on the side opposite the muffler. I had to use a breaker bar to install them as they are so tight. Nothing was stripped or anything like that, its just the tolerance with the weld nuts and the included bolts is so tight that using a regular ratchet would have been very difficult. Make sure to torque them down too. I haven't used it for anything but a hitch bicycle rack yet, but plan on towing my fathers boat which weighs approximately 2700 lbs with the trailer.

by:
2011 Ford Flex

Trailer hitch was relatively easy to install. However, the driver side rear bolt hole was a millimeter off center. Had to stretch the hole with a file to line up correctly.

by:
2014 Lincoln MKT

It took me about two hours to install the trailer hitch by my self. A second person is really needed. The only problem I had is you have to start the driver side first or the bolt holes don't line up. It's a really tight fit against the cargo compartment.

Once you get it on it is a perfect

Overall it I give it 5 stars.

Bolted right in place. The only problem was getting the paint/undercoating out of the other holes on the Flex frame. That took longer than bolting the hitch on.

2017 Ford Edge

ordered this for my 2017 AWD Flex EcoBoost with dual exhaust, I went with the Drawtite brand due to having two other Drawtite hitches in the past... it shipped same day and arrived on time as indicated on my confirmation email.

the packaging surprised me as it was in a “generic”/universal type box, which I would assume fits a multitude of different model hitches (most bigger than this one) it did have a thin plastic cover over the receiver area to protect the powder coat, despite it being lose in the box in was in good shape.

I watched the video and figured that installing it myself shouldn’t be a problem... the installation took around a hour and went pretty much like the video, my 2017 has two exhaust hangers inboard of the rear lower control arms instead of one centered as in the video, but really not a big deal as far as the install.

with all four exhaust hangers in place and the hitch torqued to spec l lowered the Flex down and noticed that the exhaust tips were no longer centered in the valance, upon inspection the issue was clear... a reinforcement bar on the hitch was coming in contact with the hanger on the passenger side and would need to be “clearanced” to allow the exhaust tips to be centered while the exhaust is in a “relaxed position.

without any room to work on the hitch while it was installed I had to remove it and grind off the edge of the reinforcement bar to allow for proper fitment

So after installing, uninstalling, grinding and reinstalling MY total install time was around 3 hours, inspite of the extra work the receiver fits closely to the valance and is not obtrusive.

this hitch came in at about half the price as the factory one from my dealer and should be more than sufficient for my bike rack and 5x8 trailer

by:
2009 Ford Flex

Bolting on the hitch took about 15min and was easy to do with the bolts provided and after watching the quick video on installing it. Wiring it up on the other hand took a while. The instructions that came with the electrical was easy to follow and super helpful...finding a path for the wires underneath the car from the battery back to the hitch is what took the longest.

by:

I was checking on the internet to get a new trailer hitch for my 2014 Lincoln MKT.
I got my part and it fits perfectly, I am way super satisfied and will definitely buy from etrailer again! The how-to videos are great. This made installation a little more comfortable. Especially when you do not perform this type of work every day. The parts were of high quality and are working as expected.

Thank you

  • Parts Needed for Towing a Trailer with a 2019 Ford Flex
I recommend using the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75679 and the T-One Wring # 118472 for your 2019 Ford Flex. This gives you a Class III hitch as well as wiring to run the basic light functions on your trailer. You probably don't need a weight distribution system for such a light trailer but if you really want one I recommend the Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW0353 which is intended for light-duty trailers and comes with a 2-5/16" hitch ball. For just a ball mount kit you can use the Kit # EBMK4. I...

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver With The Most Ground Clearance For 2009 Ford Flex
Thanks for the picture! The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75679 you were looking at will measure 12-3/4" from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver when installed on your 2009 Ford Flex, so it will give you a little more ground clearance as your current hitch measures 12" based on the picture you provided. The # 13551 you mentioned is only confirmed to fit the 2009-2019 Ford Flex without dual exhaust, so it is not universal. I included a video of the # 75679 being installed...

  • Recommended Parts Needed to Tow with a 2019 Ford Flex
The trailer hitch that I recommend using to tow a small trailer with your 2019 Ford Flex is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 75679 which is a confirmed fit for your vehicle. Then for wiring I recommend the Tekonsha T-One # 118472 because it has the highest amp draw rating out of the available options. This means that if you end up towing a trailer with a fair amount of lights on it you won't overdraw this wiring harness. If you would like to mount this near the receiver then you can use the mounting...

There are trailer hitches available for the 2013 Ford Flex with dual exhaust but they are not rated for 5,000 lbs. The trailer hitches for the Ford Flex with dual exhaust are both rated for 4,000 lbs. The hitches are designed to fit around the dual exhaust system which could be why their rating is a bit lower. It is a good idea to check the owner's manual for how much the vehicle itself is rated to tow because it may be under what either hitch is rated for. I recommend Draw-Tite part #...

For your 2010 Ford Flex only the higher-capacity 2-inch Class III type hitches are offered. We have no 1-1/4-inch hitches for this vehicle from any of our suppliers. This is not a bad thing! Since you have the single exhaust version of the Flex the hitch I suggest for you is Draw-Tite # 75679 if you have the EcoBoost model.
