Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real-life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Trailer hitch is scratched up and some of the powder coating/paint is peeling off in several spots!

2006 Chevrolet Silverado

Nice quality hitch. Thick powder coat, beefy frame members. Took 15 minutes to install with an extra set of hands, (highly recommended as it is heavy). Instructions were a bit hard to make out as they were very faded in some areas. I found them online though and they are very straightforward and easy to follow. Highly recommend this hitch for your '01-'10 2500/3500 GM truck!

Still very satisfied with this hitch after a year. My only complaint about it is that the safety chain part of it is a bit too thick as I had to slightly bend open the chain hooks on two of my trailers so that they could be attached to the hitch.

2004 Chevrolet Silverado

Love the hitch. Very easy to switch from the old rusty to this new stud. Very strongly built.....love the fit. Total faith in this product. Thanks e-Trailer. Hard to believe 6 bolts can do it. I cut lots of wood, heavy hauls w/ my Silverado HD Duramax....I have a hitch that is as strong as my truck now.

Product is very well built, impressed with the quality of the hitch, much beefer than the stock hitch. Shipping container was pretty much trashed but everything was there. The diagram in the instructions were kind of faded and difficult to read, took us (two) 3 hrs to install with air tools. So far very satisfied, haven’t tow with it yet. Taking a trip in October 2018. We will see!

I was impressed with the quality of the product, its very heavy duty. Very satisfied with the product. Took us about 3 hours to install with power tools, instructions a little difficult to read, faded.

Shipped fast. Packaged well. not happy about bare metal right out of the box. Very heavy duty. Haven't installed yet. I shouldn't have to put primer & paint on before installing this. Learned my lesson. Will buy local next time. Will be reviewing this on my YouTube channel.

Heavy Metal! This hitch makes the stock hitch look like a toy. I wish I had replaced the stock hitch a long time ago. Because it is big and heavy, it took most of an afternoon to install. Pay attention to the reinforcement blocks--the narrow edge goes toward the flange. They will not lay flat otherwise. I reused some of the stock hardware which was superior to what is supplied. You will need a half inch torque wrench to torque the bolts--which need to be more than 10 ugga duggas tight. I also used red loctite. The hitch pin for the class 3 hitch was too short. I had to replace it with a class 5 pin. The stock hitch plug also needed replacing since the bracket is part of the stock hitch. I used a Hopkins 40955. While I was at it I added a Hopkins backup/hitching camera that I purchased from E trailer a while ago. I am happy that I did this job to make towing safer.

2017 Dodge Ram Pickup

Hitch arrived in excellent condition due to good packaging. No scratches in the paintwork, which by the way appeared well prepared and painted.
Installation went relatively smoothly after the instructions were thoroughly understood. The reason I say relatively is that a Porta Power (hydraulic ram) was needed to spread the rear of the frame less than 1/4" to line up bolt holes. The vehicle is 17 years old and who knows what may have happened to the rear end of the frame by the previous owner(s).
I also ordered CurtT-Connector #55774 wiring harness which unfortunately arrived without the mounting hardware. The bracket and harness did arrive however the mounting screws and nuts did not. Luckily my son and I installed it at his garage so we had the needed hardware on hand.
Overall installation took us about 2 hours including spreading the frame and mounting the wiring harness.

It was a little confusing picking out the right hitch for this truck. After I saw the main difference was which bumper came from factory, that narrowed it down. The quality of the hitch and related parts was excellent! It could have been useful to have drawings of the hitches with measurements. Thank you for the help on the phone. I mounted it on Sat. 1/6/24. Good fit and nice hardware kit.

by:

This is a great replacement for my factory hitch, which was rusted away. This is way more rugged which suits my occasional heavy towing needs. I really like the height of the receiver to the bumper. Install was very easy, took longer to understand the instructions than the actual placement.

by:
2006 Chevrolet Silverado

hitch was really easy to install, the only problem i has was with the Review the Pro Series Lock-Tite Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches - PS63100,the shaft wasn't long enough

by:

This hitch is absolutely awesome. Probably the most heavy duty hitch I have ever seen and the installation was super easy (about 45 minutes). The position of the hitch is great also, as it tucks under the bumper and is almost hidden, for a very clean look.

by:

Hitch arrived before expected. Box was a bit beat up but hitch was in fine shape and well protected. Came with all the hardware needed to attach. Took about an hour to install. Bolted right on the frame of my 2002 2500HD 8’ bed. This is a way better hitch than OEM. I’m sure it will be the last hitch I buy for this truck.

by:

its nice to no i dont have to compete with internet prices anymore, thank you for offering me a chance to buy at a discounted price

by:

I was considering this unit or the comparable Curt Class V, and ultimately chose this which allows my oversized 285/75/16 spare to fit in the stock location. In addition, the hardware is included for use with- or without back bumper (mine is without). Easy install, no drilling required.

As far as etrailer - the large box arrived quickly and I appreciated the updates and post install follow up.

products that i ordered were shipped fast and arrived in good shape. I just put trailer hitch on with no problems. This looks and feels like a very strong, quality built product. I work in the the trucking industry as a mechanic and see thing that are built to last a long time. I see the same quality in this product as well

by:
2004 Chevrolet Silverado

Ordering was very easy, came in a couple days. Mounted the hitch in less than an hour. Had to make a few changes due to the lack of a bumper on my truck (just installed a flatbed) .Looks to be a very well built hitch .

@Jeremy Unfortunately it is the nature of hitches to rust over time, even if they had the best powder coat. We recommend using a rust resistant paint like Rustoleum to touch up the hitch from time to time.

Ordered Sunday night, received Thursday. Packaging was in rough shape from .. dropping it in driveway. Minor scratches, easily painted over. All hardware was secured in plastic wrap. Easy to install, other than lifting into place without help. Ended up using jack stands to support while I lined up holes. This hitch seems to weigh about twice that of OEM installed hitch. ( brand unknown ). Hitch is approx. inch and a half higher than stock. Have not towed yet, need to recheck height for WD hitch setup. Found install video more helpful than directions from manufacturer.

Still happy with hitch. Heavy duty construction. Should outlast tow vehicle.

by:

the draw tite hitch is built just like the original factory hitch, and rated for more than the truck can handle. The packing was shoddy at best and mine arrived without most of the hardware. Seems they tape the hardware to the hitch and put it in a simple cardboard box, My ups man has the grace of a hand grenade so check the box for damage when it arrives. I figured they couldn't hurt a 90lb piece of welded steel, but they are more inventive than that. It took four phone calls and several emails over the course of a month to get the parts I needed to mount the hitch. Once I made enough noise they shipped me new hardware and it took less than an hour to mount. The hitch is heavy duty and well made and bolts on with no drilling. It would be easier to install if you have some help lifting it into position, but with some creative contortions one person can do it. If your looking for a hitch that fits right under the bumper this is a good choice. Getting the spare out of the way was the hard part , so I watched a video on the internet to figure that part out. Now I have a hitch for my new camper and the peace of mind knowing that thing is bolted on correctly and is part of the frame.

The Draw Tite hitch is well built and attaches easily,After a year in NY winter and summer it still looks like new and I,ve had no problems with the hitch. It is actually holding up better than some factory hitches I have seen as the powder coat is still shiny black and no rust is forming. I did recheck the bolts after a trip to Nashville and 16 hours of towing a 6000lb camper and had no issues. E-trailer made the experience of buying and installing easy and stood behind the product by helping with the missing parts, which was a life saver or more correctly a vacation saver. The parts arrived in the nick of time but they were as helpful as they could be. Overall I would use this same hitch if I had to replace the one I have..

  • Replacement 2002 Chevy Silverado 3500 Trailer Hitch and Plug-In Wiring
Thanks for reaching out, Jon! To replace the factory hitch on your 2002 Chevy Silverado 3500 I recommend the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 41944. For something a bit more heavy duty we have the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT45519, but this does with a larger 2-1/2" hitch receiver so it may not work with your current inventory of hitch accessories without an adapter like our Magnetic Reducer Sleeve # e28JR. For the wiring there are 2 possible replacement options...

This is a Class V hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening. This is a bolt-on installation and requires no drilling into the frame when installing. This hitch is designed to work with full size spare tires that are mounted under the truck. I have attached a link to an installation video for this hitch on...

What you saw about the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame # 41944 fitting the 6-1/2 foot bed and 8 foot bed models of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 is correct. The hitch fits trucks with either bed length. It also fits the 3500 model. I've linked the installation details as well as a video of the hitch being installed for you. It doesn't require any drilling and will fit with a full size spare tire stored under your truck. If your truck already has a factory hitch it'll need to be removed.
