It fits nicely tucked away under the bumper, with only a minor exposure of the receiver. I've attached a photo taken post-install, from above the bumper, to show how little extends past the bumper...perhaps one or two inches at most.
As for installation, I would not recommend it as a DIY project unless you can raise the vehicle up to give room to work. It is very tight with the vehicle on the tires. Also, beware the video...it does provide all the info you need for installation, but it does not display the install above the exhaust. It is hard to hold the hitch up and hard to reach the bolts, let alone the socket and torque wrenches to tighten the bolts. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying it's not without difficulty. I think the video should be updated to show the exhaust side install also. I ended up taking it to a shop to get the install done because I was unable to do it myself.
Having said that, I'm very happy with the end result. I think it's well worth the cost of purchase AND cost of install, even if I couldn't do it alone!
The hitch fits and works well. You do not need to trim the sound deadening material or the heat shield as much as the directions state. See photos. Only the receiver sticks out which gives a clean look.
Recieved the trailer hitch (#36798) within a few days of ordering. My wife and I installed it on a Sunday afternoon, taking substantially longer than the 45 mins. indicated on the instructions. We did not have a lift, so only drove it up a pair of ramps about a foot high and on our cold January driveway. We did not have to trim the protective panel as much as was indicated, only 18" as opposed to 36" in the instructions. Also trimmed the heat shield per the instructions, but after the installation was able to reinstall the piece we had cut out. The quality of the hitch in my opinion is excellent and the instructions were very clear. Especially the steps on using the fishwires to locate the bolts. (Very Good). Will be using it on our trip to Florida next week carrying our bike rack/bikes on our 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

We use the hitch only for a bike rack but it works out well. No problems.
These guys are great! Reesa asked good questions to help me choose the right hitch and wiring for my van. They shipped fast. Their online video instructions were excellent for both the hitch and the wiring. I liked that the hitch fits nicely high up behind the bumper. And, the moment of truth when I plugged in my tester for the first time: everything worked perfectly! Thank you!

Although a little more work than the last time I installed a hitch a few years ago due to vehicle undercarriage covers and no pre-tapped mounting holes the video instructions on etrailer were easy to follow and I had everything installed in under three hours, using jack stands in my garage. The hitch itself is solid and was delivered in good shape, although I did touch up spray paint a few spots that got dinged in shipping. I would recommend better packing on all the edge points for shipping to prevent this. I do like the concealed profile of the hitch, unlike the [retailer] product I mounted on my last vehicle.
I was glad to find my vehicle's make and model, AND glad for the good communication and fast shipping of my hitch. HOWEVER, when I had a mechanic installing the hitch, to my shock and horror, the hitch was bent. The mechanic had to heat it up and get it straightened before he could get it installed. I should have packed it back up and returned it, but it was just WAY too inconvenient at that point. I had made an appointment to have the hitch put on, waited a week, and I was 360 miles from home. Even though it cost me extra mechanic 'shop time', it was a 'make it work NOW' crisis! I was very surprised that Draw-Tite QC didn't catch this. I do regret that I didn't think to get a photo of the 'before and after' hitch repair job. Time will tell if the heating and bending compromised the hitch's weight and handling "towability". I will have to be real careful until I am sure! Other than that, the installed hitch looks great on the van.
Received trailer hitch #36798 for my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica within a few days of ordering. It took us substantially longer than the 45 minutes indicated in the instructions. We did not have a lift so used ramps. We were working outside on a cold driveway in January. We did not have to cut 36 inches from the protective shield but only 18 inches. We cut the heat shield as indicated, but we reinstalled the piece we cut away. The quality of the hitch is excellent. The instructions very thorough, especially the steps using the fish-wires. Great product. I would recommend it.
Eventually I got it installed and working, but the written instructions and video could have been more helpful. The written instructions could have shown which harness is left and which is right. It is important to locate the module in the center of the vehicle in order for the harnesses to reach both sides. The tag on the module says to mount it inside the vehicle or the warranty is void. The instructions say to mount the module underneath the vehicle, which happens to be the only option. The instructions should advise that after pulling the red release on the taillight connectors, the center must be depressed in order to separate the two. (You would think this mechanism is designed for use on aircraft).
We had this installed on a Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The shop said installation was more involved than anticipated, but not difficult.
We use it for a hitch-mounted bike carrier and it has worked flawlessly.
And the back door foot-operated opening sensor does still work, although you need to put your foot in just the right spot.
The installation instruction video was spot on and the trailer hitch is of great quality. I don’t tow with the vehicle but just carry bikes. The hitch is plenty heavy duty to tow with though.
The hitch arrived quickly, was some work to install, about an hour and half, two people is best. The hitch fit good, everything lined up well. Since I installed it everything is working great.
Pretty straight foreword. I love the fish wires. Make sure which holes are to be used in the frame before proceeding to feed the bolts through. I could have cut less material off the bottom shield for a better installation.
I have not installed the hitch yet, but I have studied the installation manual and do not anticipate any problems. I have purchased these before and everything went just as described in the manual. I would recommend e-trailer.
Overall good quality. No issues with the unit once installed. Heat shield didn’t need to be cut as much as directions said. Illustrations were a little confusing.
The hitch fit my vehicle with only a minor heat shield modification as indicated in the instructions.!

Works Great. I wouldnt change one word of my review, except to note that the rear hatch foot sensor no longer works as others have found.
