Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Pretty easy. Finished within an hour.

by:

From the ordering to the delivery. Outstanding service.

by:

Side to side, the trailer hitch was not a perfect fit. There is a 1/8" gap on each side left.

by:

Right Price. Right Fit. Right Company. Thanks for filling my order quickly and getting me on the road with the items I needed.

by:
2005 Mazda 3

This hitch is pretty much one of the easiest I've seen to install. Shipping was fast and the product itself is very well manufactured. Well worth the money.

by:
2007 Mazda 3

Very easy install, nuts are just a little hard to tighten because of lack of space. If you have a fine tooth ratchet you're all good though. Very simple, just a little time consuming, wire feeding the bolts was a piece of cake

by:

Great product, good quality. Very simple to install. Instructions were easy to follow

by:

Great hitchI bought this hitch formy Mazda3. It took me one hour to install. I did find it a little hard to get the bolts into the holes the first time, but I got the hang of it by I started the second set of holes. It is easier if two people install, one person holding one end and one person holding the other.

by:
2008 Mazda 3

I'll confess I was a bit suspicious about the "fishing" part of the instructions, but the video was helpful and everything worked out fine. Took about an hour to install; having a 2nd person there to mount with the 1st two screws was key. Everything fit nicely with a little to spare.

by:

Great product. The installation video was very helpful and spot on. I would second what another commenter mentioned about using the appropriate bit to enlarge the holes on the car frame. I used the wrong bit and what should have taken a few minutes was a thirty minute arduous process.

I have to say that etrailer provides outstanding customer service and I received the product much earlier than I expected. Kudos.

by:

The bolts which attach on the side of the hitch are barely long enough with the provided washers. Otherwise installation was reasonably easy.

by:
Mazda

Grate ValueInstalled on a 07 Mazda 3. The hitch is a grate value, the installation is a little difficult but if you take the bumper off its alot easer, oh get a step drill bit makes things alote easer.

by:

Good hitch, installation took me about 45 minutes with help from another person. I didn't jack it up or anything, which made it a little tricky to get the carriage bolts through the drilled holes. It's not very heavy, but its nice to have one person hold it up while another puts the bolts through with the fishwire.

by:

I actually ordered this hitch from a different company but wanted to share a couple of installation tips. First, I used a regular carbide drill bit and had no problems getting through the frame. Second, and most important, when you're installing the side bolts (i.e. the last ones to go on), once you fish the end of the bolt through, hold a chisel or flat-head screwdriver against the bolt threads to hold it in place before you remove the fish wire. I didn't do this at first when applying the nut and wound up pushing the bolt back through the hole where it settled in a nice spot on the frame just out of reach. Using the chisel allows you to keep counter-pressure on the bolt so this won't happen.

by:

Draw-Tite Hitch on Mazda3The hitch installation was difficult and took 3 1/2 hours to complete. My vehicle was backed on to ramps in my driveway, which provided reasonable access to the work area. The major difficulty is getting the bolts "threaded" into position while holding the hitch in place. Another problem is the work space is very cramped, which makes it very hard to access the bolt locations after the hitch is in place. After much trial and error, I finally did get the job done, but after about 3 hours of work I was beginning to doubt if I was going to be able to complete it. If I can offer any recommendations, they are to get a helper and allow plenty of time for the installation.

by:

Customer service was outstanding. They upgraded my shipping for free to make sure I got the hitch in time. Installation was not difficult, although our 1/2" drill bit got dull and stopped working. We eventually switched to a step bit (highly reccomended) and it went through in 2 seconds. They shipped 2 bolt fishing wires that I thought were one, so when I threaded it on the bolt it got stuck and didn't want to come off. Make sure you separate the fishing wires!

Mazda

The trailer hitch arrived in a timley manner (2 days). I have yet to install it, but I trust it will be as easy as the one I bought for my other Mazda. Yes that's right. I own 2 Mazda's and both have etrailer hitches. Great deal on both hitches.

by:
2005 Mazda 3

Great product- everything fit well and it is about as hidden as a hitch can get. Holes were a major pain to drill- went through a brand new titanium bit to drill 4 holes. Should have used a 3/8" bit first for all the holes and then used a 1/2" (I only realized to do this for the last hole and it was much easier even with a burnt out 1/2" bit after the holes was enlarged slightly by the 3/8").

by:

E-trailer is excellent, fast, and very helpful. The trailer hitch was an easy install - with two people and a strong electric drill it took about an hour. It helps to thread the fish wire in reverse (from the drilled hole to the end of the bumper) before attaching it to the carriage bolts and bracket, that way you can just tug them into the right place.

by:
2005 Mazda 3

The hitch receiver arrived a day early, and the installation was a breeze. It took only 25 minutes to jack up the 2005 Mazda 3, drill the holes, fish the 4 bolts, mount the receiver, and to get the car back onto the ground. There were no problems whatsoever, and nothing that required any extra fiddling or tweaking. It fit perfectly and installed perfectly. I couldn't ask for anything more.

by:
2006 Mazda 3

Ordered this for my 2006 Mazda 3 sedan and so far so good. Installation wasn't that bad - I picked up the best 1/2" drill bit I could from home depot (around $18) to bore out the holes and it worked great. The only thing is make sure you're wearing eye/ear/face protection because those little metal shavings get everywhere! Plus they're pretty hot too... That was pretty much the hardest part - using the fish wire to get the bolts thru was a little tricky but not too bad. So, pending delivery of the bike rack itself (it's taking a little longer than I was hoping...), I'm in pretty good shape and very excited to have this as opposed to the yakima king joe 2 I had before. Now I can use my trunk again!

by:

The hitch and wiring harness were perfect. The shipping was unbelievably fast! The way the hitch and "fishing wires" were designed was excellent - and made installation a breeze. There are also videos on YouTube which are helpful.
I highly recommend etrailer.

2006 Mazda 3

I found your hitch and wiring kit to be excellent in quality and easy to install. I do have a couple of suggestions, though. Instructions for installing the hitch itself could have been better illustrated. They were somewhat confusingly drawn, and I used to use blueprints and drawings for my work routinely. I figured it out without them. I installed this hitch on my 2006 Mazda 3, and when done, found that I couldn't put the draw bar with ball into the hitch upside down to level out my trailer when being towed because it interfered with the bumper of my car. I bought the draw bar and ball from you too. My suggestion is to make the bar longer to clear the bumper, or to make the receiver come farther out the back. The wiring loom is a work of art, though. And the hitch virtually disappears under the bumper. Wonderful! Overall, money well spent.

by:
Mazda 3

While I could have installed this, I had the co-op across the street do it. The Mazda 3 is pretty low, and I'm glad I had the pros take care of it. The shop tech told me they had to grind out just one of the pre-drilled frame holes to get it to work, but it took two guys to get it all up and attached.
Huge win for etrailer.com - Nichole called and emailed me and said the original rack would not fit in this hitch BEFORE shipping! That was some of the best customer service ever.

  • 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Adapter for Bike Rack on 2008 MazdaSPEED3
We have exactly what you need, although technically the adapter will not turn the Class I hitch into a Class II hitch, it will simply give your 2008 MazdaSPEED3 a 2" receiver. The Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver with 5" Rise # HT5R will convert your Mazda's Class I, 1-1/4" receiver into a 2" receiver and will also give you 5" of rise. • Hitch Installation Bolts Appear to Be Too Short
When a trailer hitch is constructed, the manufacturers use a more malleable steel to construct the mounting flanges than what's used in the crossbar and receiver tube. This allows the hitch to flex a little bit along with the vehicle. Because of this flexibility, the mounting flanges can and do sometimes get slightly bent out of alignment during the shipping and handling process. This is very easy to fix, the procedure is outlined in the help article I've linked for you.
