Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The quality of the hitch is awesome. Very heavy, built very well. The only issue I had and wish could be addressed (as I have read other reviews for products for the Subaru Tribeca) is to give longer carriage bolts that attach to the bumper of the vehicle. The bolts could be an additional 1/4" longer to help the nut grab it. Otherwise, a fairly simple install. Just make sure you follow the directions as written. They are in that order for a reason. Good luck!

Order arrived within the week! I was able to install based on the pictures on the website, very easy! looks great on car and can't believe how simple the install was. All the bolts aligned only 2006 Tribecca and wires made fishing the bolts into he frame tubing quick and easy.

We've been using it. We attached it to our Subaru Tribeca so we don't haul really heavy loads, but we have moved washing machines with it, trailer-loads of debris to the landfill, we also hauled a small parade float with it. It is pretty easy to remove the ball when we are not pulling the trailer and put the ball back in when we need it. No problems with the hitch, though we don't necessarily recommend putting a hitch on a Subaru, they aren't really designed for that so we got some help from our welder son-in-law to make sure it was strong enough. Our small Toyota pick-up was in an accident this summer and we are slowly doing body work on it so we have needed to rely on our Tribeca for hauling loads - this hitch has really made that much easier on us. It was a good purchase and we do recommend it.

This hitch came shipped in a box ready to install with all the required bolts, nuts and instructions etc. I was able to quickly install the hitch with very little help from another person. The only thing I would suggest that may be needed is an additional locking nut of some type to add on after the standard nuts are tightened. this would add a little extra piece of mind for the installation and afterwards.(Or maybe a tube of lock tite) The 1/4 inch bolts could be about 1/2 inch longer to make it easier to start the nuts and maybe include 2 spring guides for each bolt in case one gets stretched or damaged in installation. This is a well built, sturdy hitch which does not need any alterations to existing Subaru Tribecca bumper. Great product for the price A++++

I purchased my trailer hitch on a Monday and it was here that Friday. They make it very easy to research the hitch you need, and the quality of the hitch is excellent. I will be referring people and won’t hesitate to buy another trailer hitch from etrailer if need be. The customer service was second to none making sure I was happy with my purchase. Thanks so much etrailer for a great product and overall experience.

Straight forward installation and quality product. The installation videos made it even more so. The only small issue that I had was once the hitch was installed, the holes to reattach the bumper cover did not lign-up because the cover hit the plate above the hitch. I little elbow grease and slight modification of the holes in the plastic cover solved the problem.

I am very pleased with the product and etrailer. I ordered my hitch on a sunday and was still able to get it in just 3 business days. They upgraded my shipping from 5-7 days to 3-5 at no cost to me. I was able to install the hitch in about 45 mins with no problems. I would recommend etrailers to anyone I know who may be looking for a trailer or trailer accessories.

Well I recieved the item in 3 days! The item is as described. It was a snap to mount. It only took me 30 minutes to install it on my B9 Tribeca. It is a very sturdy item and well worth the money. I also bought the tail light wire harness for it. Again it was a snap to install. My boat thanks you etrailer!!

This receiver was extremely easy to install. The video was very helpful to reference during the installation. I'm not a mechanic but I installed this in my garage with the assistance of my wife. I also appreciated the 2 fish line tools to align the bolts. They worked great and performed as easy as the video demonstrated.

following the directions the first 2 - 3/8" bolts in the package were a bugger to get on. the 3/8" bolts that went thru the bumper structure were too short because the hitch bracket holes were lower than the bumper holes by a 1/4". using my own 1/2" longer bolts i got one in after an hour. the second 3/8" bolt hole on the bracket had to be ground out higher to get the second 3/8" bolt in (another hour). there needs to be 2 little wires that guide the 3/8" bolts in (you get one in the package), the first wire gets destroyed putting the first 3/8" bolt in. the other 2 -1/2" bolts were easy (only one guide wire needed).

Good welds, clean slots, good hardware. The only issue is that the slot that sets against the bumper beam (the verticle mount point) needed to be slightly taller. It did not pull tight without starting to pull the bolt through the bumper beam. I gave it a good whack with a sledge and block of wood but it could have beed bad if I hadn't noticed. Overall it's a nice piece just be careful when installing.

I have only installed this item and have not yet had a chance to use it. Installation went reasonably well. It would however be helpful if the instructions were a little more descriptive.

2009 Subaru Tribeca

Just installed this on my wife's 2009 Subaru Tribeca last night. It took about 2.5 hours because the holes didn't quite line up right. The bolts wouldn't fit through the holes on the inside bumper by about 1/8inch. Had to take the hitch back down to drill the holes bigger in the bumper considering the hitch was made of thick steel. It was easier to drill through the thin metal of the bumper. It's a nice tight fit now and i'll just have to wait and see how well it pulls our trailer.

2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca

Installation went pretty smooth. Just needed to take the time to think through how to use the wire guides for the bolts without damaging the wire guide. If you damage the wire bolt guide you might be in for a more difficult install. Took a little over an hour to install with no problems and I consider myself an average handyman.

I would of given it an excellent rating, but the instructions were poor. Fortunately, someone posted a picture of what bolt holes the instructions were talking about and it was ez to install then.

HI, i had the hitch put on today at the local gas station. It looks good and it took them about 2 hours. I have not used it yet,but it all seems less trouble than i thought. So far so good. - David S.

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch

  • Why Does a Hitch Have Towing Capacities that are Listed as Weight Distributing
Trailer hitches are rated in two ways. The most common rating is weight carrying. This rating is for towing a trailer with a standard ball mount that transfers all of the trailer tongue weight to the towing vehicle. The second rating is weight distribution. A weight distribution system is used to reduce sag at the back of the vehicle when a trailer is attached and to transfer the tongue weight of the trailer to the vehicle and trailer axles, making the hitch capable of higher trailer...

  • Does Spare Tire Get Removed to Install the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75401 on a 2007 Subaru B9 Tribeca
To install the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75401 on your 2007 Subaru B9 Tribeca you will need to temporarily remove your spare tire. You will be able to reinstall it once the hitch is installed. For trailer wiring I would recommend the Curt Harness part # C59496. For ball mounts I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag.

  • Brake Controller and Weight Distribution Recommendation for 2009 Subaru Tribeca
The closest vehicle to your 2009 Subaru Tribeca we have an install video for is a 2010 Subaru Outback. The process will be very similar so using that video as a guide will help you through the install. The P2 part # 90885 is better than the Primus in a lot of ways. It can mount in several different orientations and has a much more advanced way of sensing deceleration so it will give you better overall braking performance. There are hitches available for your 2009 Subaru Tribeca that...

After the hitch is installed you will put the spare tire back where it was. There is no mention of having to trim anything on the vehicle to install the hitch. Installation of the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, item # 75401, does not require modification of the rear bumper or fascia. Some items you may need to complete your Class III hitch setup are listed below. Wiring # 118461 Drawbar # 2923 Hitch Ball # 19260 or # 19247 Hitch Lock Kit # e99039

For your 2007 Subaru B9 Tribeca, there is not a confirmed fit for the 1-1/4 inch hitch. Curt does not have a fit for the Class II hitch you are referring to. For your vehicle, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 75401 that you referenced. Because you do not wish to use a reducer like # HT02 and an hitch lock anti-rattle like # 63232 with your current Kuat NV bike rack with 1-1/4 inch stinger, I recommend you use the Kuat Bike Rack Shank Adapter - 1-1/4" to 2" # D101 which is a fit for your...
