1997 Ford F-250 and F-350 Heavy Duty

Fairly easy install. Little bit of work drilling the holes. The instructions were not real clear but if basically lift it into place it is pretty clear how to install it. The hitch itself is heavy duty and well made. Some of the reviews said that theirs was scratched up during shipping and the packaging was not very good. I had no problems with that at all. Perfect fit for my 1997 F250 HD

Hitch works great, no problems at all. I don’t haul anything supper heavy on it but I would not be concerned about it’s durability at all.

My truck used to have a dump bed and someone had cut up the ends of the frame rails to mount the pivot brackets. I had to weld pieces back in to bolt the rear of the hitch. Other than that, and drilling 9/16 holes laying on my back, everything went smoothly. It can be done with one person but two is easier.


Came badly damaged from shipping. The powdercoating was scratched down to bare metal in many places and im sure will begin to rust soon. I havent installed it yet its just sitting since i opened it yesterday. Im waiting on a response from etrailer about what my next move should be. I dont feel like replacing this again in 6 months because its rotted due to damages during shipping.

2016 Ford C-Max

I gave this a 5-star rating because the quality of the product is excellent and everything needed for installation was with it. Admittedly we haven't used it yet but, seriously, it's a hitch receiver, either it works or it doesn't, right?

If I were to give a rating on packaging, however, I would give it 2 stars. Only the marine swivel jack included in the box kept the big receiver from banging around further. The box was punctured & torn in a couple places where the receiver was clearly visible. Thus some paint was chipped from the receiver. While the products never leave me complaining the packaging dept. surely does. They need to step up their game and deliver the quality products in quality packaging.

Weve used the hitch many times and it works perfectly. Still recommend it!

Chevrolet Cobalt

A great product.
The 1 page
instruction sheet was perfect for the install with a step bumper.
1) Install the 1 L-shaped reinforcement brackets per frame rail at the back end. Requires removal of the rearmost OEM step bumper bolts. The brackets fit excellent.
2) Drill 3 holes per frame frame rail. The 3/8T x 1 1/2W x 3L blocks fit excellent on the inside of the frame rails.

Other notes:
1) My OEM 235 85 16" spare & tire fit right where it was before the install... really pleased about that.
2) I removed my spare tire for the install. That really made it easy to see and work inside the frame rails with the wrenches.
3) Since the instructions were online (thanks to etrailer) I was able to purchase the proper 9/16 drill bit beforehand. I had 1 Milwaukee Cobalt Red Helix bit & it survived all 6 holes. I had a Milwaukee 1/2" variable speed drill. I went a slow as possible ~500 rpm to prevent heat.
4) To align the receiver on the frame as a template for drilling the bolt holes...
- the rivets near the ends of the frame are your guide for both front to back alignment and side to side for the back. The receiver has notches for the rivets. Since I was working on the floor, I used a 12" milk crate & 2 2x4s & some cardboard to support the rear, then 1 c-clamp per frame rail to support the front.

1997 Ford F-250 and F-350 Heavy Duty

Serious struggle. The kit came with standard hex head bolts and round hole washers. I did not anticipate what a struggle this would cause. Installations videos by Draw-Tite show carriage bolts and the matching square holes. It was extremely difficult to hold the top of the nut while tightening the nuts. I had to weld up a special 90 degrees box end wrench. In one case the space available between the file tank and frame was too small for any type of grab on the bolt. I had to weld the bolt to the thick washer, which I am certain reduced the strength of the grade 5 bolt. Draw-Tite videos also show an included spring feeder to attach to the bolts and some bolts with an extended tab to hold while tightening. My kit had neither.
In short if your kit does not have carriage bolts and matching square hole washers you are in for a real struggle.
Very disappointed in the amount of time it took for such a simple job.

Ford Edge

THe hitch mainframe is excellent.
3/8" thick reinforcement blocks (washers) are great.
Problem is with the 1/8" thick reinforcement L brackets.
The L brackets are at the rear edge of the truck frame where the stress is the greatest; these brackets should fit better and be at least 3/8" (3 times) as thick and better quality metal.
I will have the make the L bracket needed for proper installation.

1997 Ford F-250 and F-350 Heavy Duty

Work as it should, the paint on it was flaky and peeled off during instillation. I would have preferred direct fit so I didn't have to drill holes in the frame but it was built well and works great.


This is a great hitch. Our RV has a empty tongue weight of 1,056 lbs. I was afraid of putting that much weight on a 10,000 lb. hitch that is rated for 1,000 lbs. This 12,000 lb. hitch went in a little harder than I was expecting but the fit was excellent once it was in place. I would buy this hitch again if I ever get a different truck.

yea the box looked like it had been run over by a truck the hitch looked like had been touched up with paint some overspray on the stickers was missing one nut. but we got it mounted and it lookeds like its going to work for us

1990 Ford F-150, F-250, F-350

The product itself seems to be ok. However the packaging was a mess. It had been ripped and torn in several places and taped back together. The contents inside appear to be ok but the brake controller will have to be installed before we can be sure. The box it was in was crumbled in places.
Also, there was no wiring diagram for the harness and components. I did get a wiring diagram from the internet but I would have thought one would come with the package.

This means that it will fit the pickup models that have the 37-1/4 inch wide frame but not cab and chassis models with the narrow 34 inch frame.
