Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Today in our 2006 Chevy Uplander, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite hitch, Part Number 36361. Now to begin our install, we'll first go ahead and locate the manufacturer's well nuts that we'll also use as attachment points to secure our hitch. Starting on the driver's side, we'll use the two well nuts that are exposed here in the frame rail. For our rear attachment point for the driver's side, we'll ultimately use the hitch as a template and drill out for the attachment point. Moving over to the passenger's side, we'll have a support bracket that'll run from the frame to the inner fender well. We'll use as a forward attachment point two exhaust hanger attachment points. The rear attachment point will be just like the driver's side where we'll drill out a hole in the frame for the attachment point. Let's go ahead and remove the exhaust bracket and support bracket first. We'll go ahead and remove the fasteners and set them aside as they will not be reinstalled. We'll use the new hardware supplied with the install kit. Then we'll go ahead and remove the bolt that secures the support bracket to the frame.
Next, we'll loosen the bolt where the support bracket secures to the inner fender well. We're only going to be loosening it just to get some movement out of the support bracket. Now we'll move over to the driver's side. Before we can install the new hardware, we'll need to clean out the well nuts because over time, they build up with rust, dust, dirt and debris that can make it difficult to install the new fasteners. Using a spray lubricant and 1/2-inch nylon tube brush, Part Number 814092, we'll thoroughly clean out the threads. Once we have them cleaned out, we're ready to install the hitch. It's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch while you install the fasteners. We'll take our new 10-mm bolt with the pointed tip and install it finger tight here on the passenger's side, resecuring the exhaust hanger bracket, sandwiching the hitch between the exhaust hanger bracket and the frame.
We'll do the same process with the support bracket. Next, we'll move over to the driver's side. We'll install 2 new of the 10-mm bolts into the well nuts in the frame. Now with our hitch secured to the frame, we'll go ahead and tighten down the support bracket at the fender. Once we have them installed and tightened down, we'll move over to the passenger's side and tighten down the 3 fasteners we already installed. Next, we'll go ahead and use the hitch as a template to drill out our two rear attachment points, one on each side. Using a step-up process, we'll start with our smaller pilot bit first, and then work our way up to our final size of 1/2 inch. Once we have the 1/2 holes drilled out, we'll go ahead and use the bolt, split lock washer and handle nut for our fasteners.
We'll run the handle nut through the square hole in the side of the frame and line it up with our pre-drilled hole. Note: The handle nut is designed to be bent in any position necessary to get over the attachment point. Once we have it lined up with our pre-drilled hole, we'll go ahead and install the bolt and then tighten it down. With all our fasteners installed and tightened down, we'll now go ahead and torque to specifications as indicated in instructions. Once we have our hitch secured and torqued to specifications, we're now ready to hit the road. That does it for the install of the Draw-Tite hitch, Part Number 36361 on our 2006 Chevy Uplander. .

This fully welded, corrosion-resistant vehicle trailer hitch receiver is perfect for your light-duty towing needs. Draw-Tite's Tested Tough guarantee ensures that this hitch exceeds industry standards. Drawbar sold separately.I did it the easy way, I paid someone else to install it along with the etrailer wiring kit. It took them less than an hour, and they said it was an easy install. With the hitch ball stowed, you can hardly see it under the bumper. With the ball in place, it makes a nice, compact package where the ball sits close to the bumper but with enough room to hook the trailer up easily. As a bonus, there is still enough room to replace the cheap donut spare with a full-sized spare tire, if barely.
Hitch is solid with no flex.
2004 Chevy Venture long wheelbase 2WD.
The only problems I had installing this product was drilling the holes required and dealing with the air pump bracket. I did the prep for install and install with my vehicle on jack stands, which made it a challenge because of the space restrictions. But I got it in. Instruction sheet included was very helpful, no guessing. I like the fact that the customer service is pro active and kept me up to date with my order and handled my problem with availability of my order. Too bad all Companies can't do that.
The hitch I ordered arrived quickly and fit my vehicle with no problem. The only issue was a weld inside the receiver that was not ground off, preventing the draw bar from sliding into place. After several minutes work with a file to remove this weld, this problem was solved. Other than that ,it is a good product.
Second Montana and second hitch from e-trailer. Instructions were helpful, necessary and well fitted hardware, aside from clumsy handiwork on my part the installation went well. Tech assistance on how to fish a carriage bolt through a pre-cut plate was invaluable!
This trailer hitch was pretty easy to install, since I had all the right socket sizes. The person who took my order over the phone was extremely helpful, and made ordering much easier than ordering online, since my first and second choices were out of stock. The product arrived in two business days, just like they said it would.
Absolutely what I ordered. The videos sold me. Had it here in 4 days. Installed in two hours without the use of a lift. Compressor on the van took a bit of adjustment, but the spacers work nice.
My granddaughter bought this for me so now i can attach my wheelchair to my van and get around easily, it came quickly and was more than half the price as every business locally even after shipping costs.
Very satisfied with the experience I had with your company. The convenience of placing the order, the video showing the installation of the product was very helpful, the timely delivery of the product to my home, & the quality of the product was excellent. Would not hesitate to order from you again.
good product but misleading in ad about installation says no welding so you think you bolt it on doesnt tell you till you get it that you need to drill holes in frame very difficult
