Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

- shipping and packaging excellent - directions via video were excellent - installation went smoothly, about 45 min - note: this is a two person job in my opinion, and requires a floor jack, stands, straps, lights and torque wrench 774419

I purchased several hitches from etrailer over the years. I want a hitch for all my cars because of the bike rack. Hitch mount bike rack is the best vs. trunk/roof mount. 772220

The hitch is very discreet and the install was super easy. I have aftermarket muffler as well and it still fit totally fine. 738123

The hitch itself seems very high quality, but regardless of what size I use, it's a very tight squeeze. I'm using smaller configuration for a bike rack; I got part of the rack in the hitch, but to get it in all the way, it needed some persuasion from a rubber mallet. And now the bike rack is permanently affixed to the car. That sucker ain't comin' out. I'll let you decide if that's my own idiocy to blame or not. lol 737636

2007 Subaru Outback Wagon

A solid hitch. In installation I had two issues that slowed me down. First, in the video the installer does mention that removing the exhaust hanger in FRONT of the rear axle is a good idea; but at that point in the video he is confusingly pointing to a hanger on one of the mufflers, well behind the rear axle. Removing that hanger was very important for gaining clearance. Second, there was no way the bolts were going to go in until I loosened the other four bolts (two each) holding in place the brackets from which we are told to remove the forward bolts; that gave these brackets enough play that I could get all the bolts started and then everything tightened up. It took me a long time to figure both of these issues out, but once I did I was done in a flash. 725985

Hitch was fairly easy to install and fit the vehicle well. Was not able to reinstall the muffler heat shields, but do not think that it will be a problem. Fast delivery and great quality hitch:) 722123

This is an excellent product. I have installed the the trailer wiring harness, the instructions were clear and concise and the installation took about 10 minutes. I hope to install the hitch tomorrow. I reviewed the instructions for that installation and looked under my Subaru. The hitch installation should take an hour or so and I'm slow. Again, excellent product and clear instructions. If you need a hitch for your Subaru, this is the way to go. 702768

The trailer hitch I purchased fits the bill perfectly. Granted, it took over an hour for me to install it by myself. But I was working in my garage on the floor with the vehicle up on ramps. About the only potential problem I saw was the the paint had been chipped off of some spots on the edges, and a scuff had to be touched up on the vertical web on the left side. As the box was undamaged, how this damage occurred is a mystery to me. I will see how well it works once the weather clears enough to haul my trailer around. 591813

  • Replacement Installation Hardware for Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch 36334 for a 2008 Subaru Legacy
The hardware needed to install trailer hitch # 36334 is listed in the instructions I have linked for you but to ensure you get the proper grade hardware I recommend ordering replacement hardware kit # RHK. Just enter the hitch number and manufacturer where indicated on the product page to get the right kit.

I have also linked the installation instructions for you. Installation is straight forward. I have included some links to the right that will help. • Selecting Hitch for 2007 Subaru Outback Wagon with Dual Exhaust for Use with Hitch Bike Rack
For your 2007 Subaru Outback Wagon with dual exhaust we offer two sizes/classes of trailer hitch, all of which are displayed on the linked page. We always recommend the higher-capacity 2-inch Class III type whenever there is a choice since it will offer a higher tongue weight (TW) rating, which is really what matters when using a hitch-mounted accessory such as a hitch bike rack like the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR or hitch cargo carrier like # 63153. The 2-inch Class III hitch...

  • 2009 Subaru Outback Hitch Recommendation for a Yakima Ridgeback 4 Bike Rack
I would go with the Draw-Tite part # 75560. This is a Class III hitch with a 2 inch opening that would work great with your Yakima Ridgeback 4 bike rack part # Y02458. I attached an install video. Anytime there is a 2 inch hitch option available for a vehicle we recommend that over a 1-1/4 inch hitch as the 2 inch hitch will have higher capacities and offer more flexibility for future hitch accessories as more things are made for 2 inch hitches. With that being said, if the only thing...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2009 Subaru Legacy and Kuat Transfer Bike Rack
All of the trailer hitches for your 2009 Subaru Legacy will have the same basic appearance because they install in the same place and have similar designs. So the most Low-profile is going to be one of the Class II hitches. I recommend Draw-Tite hitch # 36334. With the smaller 1-1/4 inch receiver the hitch will be less noticeable. Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 36334 is indeed a fit for your 2007 Subaru Legacy Outback sedan excluding Sport models. • Trailer hitch, Ball Mount, Ball, and Wiring for a 2006 Subaru Legacy Sedan
First, lets look at the trailer hitches for your 2006 Subaru Legacy sedan. There are both Class II and Class III trailer hitches available. Any time there are different Class hitches available for a vehicle I always recommend going with the higher Class. This is because the higher Class hitches have a higher capacity and have more accessory options. With a Class II hitch you are going to also be limited to using one specific ball mount so that makes it harder to choose the proper ball...

None of the other hitches are confirmed to fit. The correct ball mount to use is # C45519. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. • Bike Rack Options for a 2008 Subaru Outback Wagon
According to Thule and Yakima, the 2008 Subaru Outback Wagon is not suitable for use with a trunk mounted bike rack because the rear hatch is not strong enough to carry the weight of the carrier and the bikes. This leaves a roof or hitch mounted system as your remaining options. • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for Bike Rack on 2008 Subaru Outback
You are correct that Curt requires the stabilization strap # 18050 on many of their hitches when using a bike rack or other accessory. This does interfere with the spoiler on your 2008 Outback if you run it to the top of the hatch, so I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III # 75560 which not only is a stronger hitch that will also allow for more accessory options, but also does not require that strap.
