Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Didn't want to install myself so I took it to a local pepboys and had them do it. Perfect, handles the bike rack well and looks look profile. Fast shipping, great service! Love Etrailer will definitely look into them for other needs as well!

I like the product it fits well but the only issue I have is the bolts for the passenger side to help hold the trailer hitch in place is way too close to the exhaust and every time I hit a bump or start the vehicle exhaust hits the ball that’s the only downfall I see.

Comments
Because of loose tolerances in exhaust locations, it is fairly common to experience some exhaust hitch rattle. I have linked a help article that covers some ways to correct this rattle for you.

Great product. I use it for my bike rack (2 bike carrier). The only slight difficulty installing this was removing and reinstalling the muffler on the hanger. I had to bend the hanger down a half inch. After 1 year this hitch is still like new.

Product as delivered was exactly according to spec. We had our mechanic install it. The hitch and wiring kit were easy to install. No drilling necessary. The etrailer sales rep, Helen M., who assisted me with the sale, was knowledgable and courteous. She was able to answer all my questions. Great job. We just used the hitch to pull my boat from the water. Worked perfectly.

The hitch is an exact fit for my Honda HR-V. I found a lift is needed to rais ed the cat enough to work under it. So my local tire shop did the job for $70. I also bought the wiring kit from etrailer. U-HAUL has a video of how to pop the panels to install the kit. It took less than an hour. As I will only be using the trsiler for occasional trips to buy lumber snd plywood I chose not to pull down the under-chasis plastic panels and run the supplied wiring to the battery. Instead, I ran the wire inside the cabin to the rear seat auxiliary power outlet. Usually the wire is rolled up beneath the rear seat.

Delivery was extremely quick and the installation of the hitch went off, well...without a hitch. :-) It looks great on our HRV too, like it belongs (unlike those other bright orange stickered aftermarket hitches you see). The end doesn't stick out past the bumper which protects your shins. Great product, great price, fast delivery, we really are very satisfied customers.

Great product, very easy to install thanks to the great directions that came provided with the trailer hitch. Worked like a charm towing my jetski behind my 2017 Honda HRV with no problems at all. Even towed a broken down car about a mile to safety with my hitch and a tow strap! Best upgrade I've done to my HRV to date!

2016 Honda HR-V

I've never installed a hitch or wiring before and was kind of intimidated to install it. This was by far the easiest hardest thing I've done to a car. I'd rate the difficulty level as changing a flat tire on the side of the road. I installed this at night using a flashlight, by myself. Equipment: The hitch came in a box and included all the hardware necessary to install. I didn't need any special tools (you could use a torque if you wanted to too, but I used a pry bar and cracked it down). The wiring was the most annoying part as I had to run the power up to the battery, the annoying part was the driveway was wet from rain. (Oh I would suggest a different wiring coupler, twist-on couplers aren't great) Price: The price of the hitch receiver and wiring, was pretty great for the quality of product I received. I got everything installed and tested and had no issues with lights etc. Instructions: The hitch and wiring came with instructions, however these should be improved. The layout of the instructions were messy and difficult to follow. Additional diagrams for each step would be helpful. Company Experience: My experience with the company was great. I placed my order online, had an issue with billing address (my fault) and they reached out immediately with remedial actions. I placed a new order and received confirmation along each step of the order to shipping to it being delivered. That's good customer service (even if it is automated or not). Overall: Everything was pretty smooth, the quality of product versus price was great, delivery was quick. I would certainly do business with etrailer again.

Comments
When installing a trailer hitch, it is important to make sure to use a torque wrench to torque the bolts down to the specifications stated in the instructions to ensure the hitchs integrity.

This trailer hitch has worked really well for my husband's Honda HRV (2016 I believe). We have used this for a Thule bike rack and a small trailer rack that fits into it. We are hoping to buy an actual trailer in the future which will also use this hitch. This hitch receiver was worth it as we got the rack attachment for around $150. We use it to haul household garbage. It works well for what we need.

As I am mechanically challenged, I had a professional install the hitch. Cosmetically it looks clean and barely noticeable on my Honda HR-V, yet sturdy. My Thule bike rack fits easily, yet stable. Overall, I am very satisfied with the product and I recommend it.

2019 Honda HR-V

The product was as expected and arrived in good shape. The installation instructions were not correct, however for my model as advertised. I have a 2019 HR-V sport and I am assuming the muffler mounts have been moved further forward on the body than previous models. It is impossible to bend the mounts down enough to provide clearance to reinstall the muffler as described. It is possible, however, to install the mount as follows: 1. Lower the muffler; 2. Temporarily loosely mount the receiver to the center point to make it easy to work with; 3. Very loosely (half dozen threads or so) install the mounting hardware on the right side over the muffler so that it will clear the heat shield when rotated horizontally; 4. Remove the receiver from the center position and rotate the receiver by moving the left side toward the front enough for you to reattach the muffler hangers; 5. Rotate the receiver back to the proper position and install it as described in the original instructions; 6. The hardware on the right side can be tightened using a box end wrench.

- 24932
by:
Honda

The installation is a lot to ask for an amateur. You’ll need to bend some exhaust hangers and cut an under body panel on the HRV. Once that’s done, expect a torturous threading of a wire through a piece of frame which was designed not to allow it. Think twice before getting this for an HRV, the vehicle does everything it can to let you know not to tow with it. The product itself is stout and nominal among the field. Applying it to the Honda HRV seems like an overbroad application of the hitch’s design.

Although I haven't installed the hitch yet, it arrived quickly and the on-line installation video will .wake installation seamless and apparently painless. This is the 2nd hitch I've purchased from etrailer and would buy from them again should the need arise.

etrailer.com is an outstanding business. Their products are well-made. Their website is easy to order. Their prompt order processing and shipping/handling is fantastic! I was amazed how well the hitch was packed. Their installation video is outstanding! Over the years, I have ordered five hitches from etrailer and installed all of them by myself without a problem.

The hitch went on without a hitch (pun intended). Easy and fast. All parts were there and the instructions matched the vehicle (2017 HRV) conditions exactly. I followed the advice of the "options" video recommendation and picked the drawtite because its frame was less visible. I am very happy with the results. The hardest part was getting the mufflers rubber hanger mount back on (driver's side). Since I could no longer get my hand in there with the hitch mounted, I used a sturdy shoelace, lubed it, laced it through and pulled the rubber right onto its pin. I did have to modify one part. The flat washers on the u-bolt that mounts to the center tie-down bracket overlapped and one wouldn't sit flat. I had to file a bit off one side to give it enough room to sit flat. The hitch was easy - 20 minutes and it was done. I did it on the ground, no lift. Now the hard part: the wiring harness. I will probably have to drive up on ramps to fish the power wire to the battery. But, that's tomorrow's job. My use will be to tow a small utility trailer (1,500 lb GVW hauling kayaks, deer stands, decoys) and to hold a bike rack. I also have a 2,500 lb receiver winch in case I get stuck in mud.

Comments
No complaints. Still works fantastic for bike rack. Still like the hitch’s low profile and visibility. Did purchase a rubber receiver cover from [online store]. Really, one should come with it! A $2 piece that should come with every receiver sold!!
Calvin - 04/06/2020

While the trailer hitch manufacturer doesn't include a rubber hitch cover with the hitch, we do have an etrailer Rubber Hitch Cover # 22281

This rating concerns e-trailer item C24932, a Draw-Tite 24932 trailer hitch for a 2017 Honda HR-V with 4-wheel drive. I placed the order online and received everything promptly. When first attempting to install the hitch I discovered one part (#2, a spacer) was too large to be inserted in its hole in the frame. I contacted etrailer and they had the manufacturer send me a good part. I was pleased that Draw-Tite supplied a special pull wire spring to aid in threading a bolt through a frame channel; it worked well. I was disappointed that they didn't explain in their instructions that, when lowering the muffler, the outer isolator had to be removed from the frame and the inner isolator from the muffler in order to make re-assembly possible. Overall the installation wasn't difficult. In general the hitch seems sturdier than the parts of the car it is attached to, though I'm surprised the 1 1/4" receiver channel isn't slightly heavier.

Very nice product and excellent appearance when attached to the vehicle. The single best part of ordering this hitch was the video on your website which showed exactly how to attach it. It would have taken me much longer to figure out with only the written directions.

Comments
Laura, the hitch works great for holding a bike rack, which is what I really wanted. The bike rack as a 2 inch not sure of the proper name and the etrailer hitch is something like an inch and a quarter, but [big box store] sells an adapter that links the two different sizes together so it was easy to make it work.

The Draw-Tite product appears to be very good and priced well. Since my 2016 Honda HR-V is a new model, these hitches are just coming out from various hitch factories. Fit is right on. Installation instructions are thorough and detailed a little better than the Curt instructions. Also the hardware includes installation fishing wire and a rectangular spacer/washer for additional strength for driver side installation and a long special fishing piece for passenger side installation. Washers are appropriate, and torque settings are also included. An attachment pin and clip are included in the hardware pack.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2018 Honda HR-V
Yes, the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24932 is a confirmed fit for your 2018 Honda HR-V and is what I recommend for you. • Can a Class I Trailer Hitch Carry 4 Bikes
On a Class I trailer hitch such as # 24932 you are limited to 2 bikes at most. The reason for this is a third and subsequent bikes would be too far from the receiver. This will produce excessive stress on the hitch which can damage the hitch, the vehicle, and result in loss of the bikes and bike carrier. The remaining option is to carry bikes on either a trunk mount or hitch mount carrier and the other bikes on the roof of the vehicle.
