Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Honda Fit - Draw-Tite

Today on our 2012 Honda Fit, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite hitch, part number 24826. This is what our hitch looks like now that it is installed. Here are a few measurements to help you choose some accessories, such as a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From the ground to the top of the opening on the hitch is approximately 10". From the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper is approximately 3". Now we'll go ahead with the install.

To begin with, we will go ahead and use a little lube on the exhaust hangers and remove the two rear exhaust hangers. Before you do this, you may want to use a strap to help support the exhaust once the hangers are removed. Now that we have the hangers removed and the exhaust lowered out of the way, you'll need to remove a small inner tab section of the inner fender well by removing the clip and trimming off the excess area that will be under where the hitch will make contact with the rear frame. This is on the driver's side. There are four holes on the rear of the frame, two on each side, that will be used to mount the hitch to the rear of the vehicle.

The two holes farthest to the rear of the vehicle will need to be opened up a little bit to allow the spacer to be inserted into it. To do this, we will use a small rotary tool to open the hole. Now that we have the two rear holes opened up, we will show you how the hardware will actually attach to the hitch. You'll take your carriage bolt, slide it through the spacer, which will be in the frame. Then the carriage bolt will go through the hitch, and you'll have a conical-tooth washer, followed by the nut.

To install the spacer and the carriage bolt, you will use the wire pull. You will begin by using the hole towards the front of the vehicle, fishing the end of the wire lead where the bolt would attach to the rear hole. Then you will slide the spacer over it and thread the carriage bolt on, pulling the wire lead back through the original hole, pulling the carriage bolt into place. You will repeat this process for the front hole on the passenger side. Now for the rear holes, take your carriage bolt, thread it onto the wire lead, then your spacer, push the carriage bolt into the rear hole, then the spacer, and pull the wire lead back down, pulling the carriage bolt into place.

Now that all four carriage bolts and spacers are in place, you may want to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch up while the four bolts are connected. You will also notice that you may need to bend a small section of the exhaust heat shield out of the way to allow the hitch to slide up in on the passenger side. Once you put the hitch up against the frame, you will put a conical-tooth washer, followed by a nut on each of the four carriage bolts. Once all four nuts are put on loosely, you will torque all four to the manufacturer's specifications. Now that all four nuts have been torqued, it's time to reinstall the two exhaust hangers. And that will complete the installation of the Draw-Tite hitch, part number 24826, on our 2012 Honda Fit.

Etrailer has a great website. It describes the product very well. Has many references and videos on install combined with reviews made this a very easy product to get and installation was easy and as described. However the product was poorly made. The powder coating had huge bubbles in several places and had chipped off. I decided to install it instead of returning it. The product will rust over time and the flaws wont be visible from the outside. When I was installing the hitch everything went great until I tried to do final adjustments before torqueing down the bolts. The hitch receiver tube was not sticking out straight. When I crawled under the car and looked. The tube is welded on about 5 degrees off of 90 degrees so I had to install the whole product on as much of an angle to compensate. It still sticks out at an angle. Will it effect use. Probably not, but it is on a new car. Have not contacted Etrailer yet. 110638

Honda Fit

This is the first trailer hitch I've owned or installed so I have little to compare it to. My overall impression is that the hitch sits too low to the ground and is less rigid than I feel comfortable with for hauling bikes. It's also rather heavy in part because it loops around the exhaust. It was easy to install and has worked well but I'm considering building my own hitch that is more rigid, puts the receiver higher off the ground and has more ground clearance. Regarding installation, while it's true that no drilling is required, you are still supposed to put a notch in your "frame" rails so that the 1" backing washers fit through the 7/8" hole. I opted to grind the 1" washers on one side to make them about 7/8" wide so they'd fit through the holes without modifying the body. For a custom-designed hitch, I wasn't pleased that they didn't just include washers that fit...the Fit...in the first place. I like to keep my OEM rust proofing intact if at all possible. I painted the edge of the washers where I ground them down so they don't rust either. Regarding the hitch height, with Swift Sport springs that lower the car about 1/2", my receiver is about 8" off the ground and result in my brand new Yakima Highlite 3 bike rack to scrape entering/exiting my driveway apron (which is pretty steep). When I put 2 adult bikes and 1 kid trailer bike on the Highlight 3 (<110 lbs total w/bike rack), the hitch had WAY more bounce/flex than I felt comfortable with, especially when you tilt the rack down to access the trunk. So I added an extra strap attached to my Yakima roof rack to give the bike rack some extra support. I'd prefer not to do that. In summary, if you need an easy to install hitch that will support a bike or two, tow a light trailer and don't mind grinding into your car's frame a bit, this is a decent hitch for a nice price. It's far from perfect for me though. 134686

2009 Honda Fit

Thanks to the excellent video tutorial, I was able to install this quickly and easily. A couple of suggestions for others who plan on installing this yourself: * Cut up the cardboard box and lay it flat on the ground behind and extending under your car. Put the hitch on it and you can slide it under the car and back out much more easily, as well as sliding yourself under the car more easily. * Once you cut the small notches in your frame, spray each with a bit of rustoleum and give it a few minutes to dry before installing the hitch. * On my 2009 Honda Fit, I did not have to move the muffler much at all. This is because I picked up the part of the hitch which bolts above the muffler and slid it into the bumper inside the hole for the muffler, right over the muffler pipe. It wraps nicely around the muffler pipe and will slide through the bumper and into place quite easily. * If you are doing this alone, get the car jack out and start on the muffler side. After you've placed all the bolts and washers, slide the muffler side of the hitch through the muffler hole in the bumper and into place, leaving the other end sitting on your cardboard on the ground. Put the car jack under the muffler end of the hitch and extend it until the hitch is touching the frame, with the bolts sticking through the hitch holes. Put on the washers and nuts and get them started, but don't tighten them all the way. Now move the car jack to the other end of the hitch and use it to hold that end of the hitch in place while you get the washers and nuts started. Once all four nuts are started and attaching the hitch to the car frame, now you can tighten them all. * Use a foot-long extension on your torque wrench when you're finishing off the nuts so you don't have to reach around the muffler. PRESTO! I can carry my bikes! 151680

Very easy install! One man install using a just 2 passenger-side wheels on the curb to get some room under the Fit, and some seat cushions to not kill my back. Including the 4 wire bolt leaders was pure genius. Seeing the video was great - I used some bike chain oil (couldn't find my WD-40) to ease the muffler hangers off. A long screwdriver and gentle pressure is all you need. An old braided belt was to hold the muffler out of the way, and then hold the hitch in position. Got it on snug - need a deep-well 11/16 socket and torque wrench to finish the job. Pictures show the Swagman 2-bike rack. I like the way the rack goes from the hitch to give some ground clearance on driveways, ramps, etc. Great deal - great price - great service on delivery - easy install thanks to the video - will let you know how the Swagman does after a 1500 mile trip! 33060

I installed this hitch on a 2009 Honda Fit. The on-line video made this real simple to do. It was simpler in concept than it was to do in practice, due to working under a car, holding the heavy hitch in place and working in limited space. to make it easier, I backed the car up tire ramps. Then I used a little jack to raise the hitch into position and held it up using some adjustable straps. Once I got the weight off of my arm, it was much simpler. The directions to move the muffler out of the way was really helpful. I sprayed the rubber doughnuts with silicon spray and they popped right off the muffler. The wire bolt holders are absolute genius! That made it so simple to get the bolts positioned in the hole that are in the car frame. The only problem I had was the muffler heat shield gets trapped under the hitch and that was not mentioned in the on-line video. The heat shield is metal and can't be cut away like the plastic panel on the other side of the car. Since I am only towing a little 4 x 4 foot bicycle trailer that only weighs 100 pounds, I just torqued up the bolts and pinned the muffler heat shield under it. I don't think it'll be a problem. On the driver side, I cut away the plastic liner like the instructions said and the hitch fit perfectly against the body frame. Overall it took me about 2 hours to do, not because it is hard to do, but I'm 70 years old and don't work as fast as I used to do. Great product and easy to install. And it works great for towing my little bicycle trailer. 191039

The trailer hitch took about a week to arrive at my house, which was very acceptable to me. I attempted to install the hitch by myself but ended up calling my wife out to the garage to help line up the hitch with the bolts. The instructions helped a lot, there was nothing very difficult in the install. I raised the rear of the car to give me some room and also took off the passenger rear wheel to get a better attack angle for tightening the bolts. I also dropped the exhaust off of the rubber hangers. I fumbled around for about an hour, but overall it really was an easy install. The hitch is very good quality and I ended up buying a Thule double track bike rack at a local bike since they priced matched the E trailer price. I finally was able to use the rack yesterday, and with both quality products, my 29er fits perfectly on the rack and is very stable at highway speeds. Just a few notes, the Honda Fit Sport has minimal ground clearance, and with the tow hitch installed with the bike rack, some steeper driveways around here, I do bottom out very slightly if I don't approach the driveway at an angle. But I do not fault the hitch or rack, its just a low ground clearance vehicle to start with. Overall very happy with the purchase, and the communication to when my hitch would arrive was fantastic. I will be buying a hitch for my wife's 13 Honda CRV from Etrailer because they have by far the best prices around and with the informative videos, it makes the installation a much easier task! 135173

You guys are great! First, shipping was very expedited, the package arrived a lot earlier than promised and the item is simple great quality. Also you took the time to look for an installer for me in my area but ended up doing it myself, I just followed the instructions of the video you sent to me and that was very easy. I can only say now, thank you very much for your service, Im very happy with my new toy!!! 122327

2012 Honda Fit Sport

I will always use etrailer.com for any hitch purchases! The installation instructions that came with the hitch were sub-par (I believe they are from the manufacturer) HOWEVER, etrailer has created a tutorial video for almost every hitch they sell and these videos couldn't make it any easier! Installation took about an hour with two people. The video covered the entire process thoroughly. The hitch looks great on my girlfriends 2012 Honda Fit Sport and the bike rack was a much needed accessory! 76321

Its been a year, the hitch is still working flawlessly. My review of the hitch and installation are above. This followup review is of etrailer in general. I dont think Ive ever had a better online purchasing experience. Best customer service, great product, good prices, and the most useful custom installation videos! You guys are killing it. Ill be back when I need to purchase a hitch for my next vehicle!

Product went on great. I backed my car up onto my ramps, rolled under on my creeper, and went to work. Enlarging the holes to slip the mounting plates was easy with a hammer and chisel, and I was able to hold the hitch in place with my knee while I bolted it on. The powder coat on the hitch I bought is flaking from the factory in TWO places. That's ridiculous. I expected better quality. I need to use the hitch tomorrow though, so no time to send it back. If I lived in the North, I'd ask for a return, but the flaking won't do any harm here in the South, since our cars don't get rusty from road salt. 107367

Comments

Powder coat hasnt degraded elsewhere over a year, and the hitch still works great. Ive towed utility trailers, a small camper trailer, and a wood chipper. All went without any trouble. The hitch is stout and was up to the task.

Thanks for the follow up and feedback about your Draw-Tite hitch. If you need to do some minor touch ups we recommend a good high quality spray paint to prevent any further rust or damage.

A great product, installed the hitch receiver and the T-One Wiring Harness on my 2011 Honda Fit in just under an hour. Would have been much faster, but had to find some of my tools that the grandkids had been playing with. A very easy install after I found out how to remove the inside fender panel. It just snaps on, go figure. 77961

2010 Honda Fit

2010 Honda Fit here. Took me about 2 hours to install, I have only basic tools and no garage to work in. The part fit perfectly, installation was straightforward. Would have been a little easier if I'd had a second pair of hands to help when hanging it up after putting the bolts in, but I managed alone. Looks great, should be all set for the move! 121684

Comments

Served admirably for the move! I havent used it since, but its still on the car. The mouth area got a little rusty salted roads... but I cleaned it up with a brush and WD-40. Seems fine since.

Because I did not have anyone to install this on my car, I took it into my autobody/mechanic place. I told him about your online video on how to install it. He viewed it, installed it, no problem, and was really, really, impressed by your company and product. When I picked up my car an hour later, he said that he had never heard of E-Trailer but after reading several reviews and checking out your very helpful video, he said that he was very impressed and he had no problem on the install. I was afraid that it might be super expensive, but I was only charged for an hour's work at $56.00! Wonderful experience all around, and for my mechanic to like you, well, that's saying something! Thank you also for the E-mail feedback. I just didn't buy a product from an "unknown, mysterious, online company never to be heard from again after I paid for my hitch". On the contrary, Patrick was very nice in following up with me to answer any questions or concerns. Thanks to Dream Maker Products in Florida for leading me to you! I will certainly order from you again and tell anyone who asks about your great company. I am sure, too, that my mechanic will spread the word as well. Thank you!! Kristina 86827

Before ordering this hitch, I watched the etrailer.com installation video to see if this was really a DIY project. Looked straight forward so I made the leap. Once the hitch arrived I unpacked it, gathered the recommended tools (all three of them) and watched the video again as a refresher. Then on the driveway in front of all the neighbors, I proceeded to install it with no cussing and no bloody knuckles! Total time including watching the video: 40 mins. Then I tackled the trailer wiring kit. Talk about easy, 20 minutes later car is back together and ready for my Yakima Rock and Roll trailer that should arrive tomorrow. Had some concern that the remote braking system for towing the Fit behind our RV was going to interfere but not a bit. Great service and great products etrailer! 96016

Fast free shipping, was able to install in about an hour with the help of a buddy who had a pair of ramps. Didn't end up needing the rotary tool shown in the installation video to widen the holes on the frame--a metal file worked just fine for that. Very satisfied! 181955

Comments

Overall, great! With the particular bike rack I use the hitch for Thule Doubletrack 2-bike and the particular car Ive got it mounted to 2012 Honda Fit Sport, it tends to drag a little bit coming out of some driveways. But I knew that was a possibility with a low-clearance vehicle, and its not the fault of the hitch at all. Ive been very happy with it.

A nice, solidly built product. A bit tricky to install if you can't get your car up on a lift or jacks. I had no trouble trimming the plastic trim. I cut the notches in the rear holes using a Dremel tool. This would have been easy with a long cutting tool, but was trickier with the ball-end tool I had. It was easy to install the spacers and bolts as shown in the video. I put a piece of masking tape on the end of the pull wire, so that I could more easily see the end as it came past the rear hole. I didn't need to move the muffler to get the hitch in. I found that if I pushed the hitch in from the rear, with the right-hand arm over the tailpipe, I could slide it into position without moving the muffler. The hitch is heavy and awkward to lift up to the bolts. To make this easier, I tied the car jack that came with my Honda underneath the hitch, and slowly lifted it into place using the jack. I attached the right side first, then jacked up the left side and attached it. My bike rack slide in easily and tightened down solidly. I may buy a small cable lock to lock my rack to the hitch. 20206

I bought the Fit to replace my truck, so I needed a hitch to haul bulky items in a trailer. Installing this yourself isn't difficult, in case you're wondering. I installed it by myself. The only part that's difficult is holding one side up while bolting the opposite side on. I rested the one side on the muffler while putting the other side up, and it worked ok for me. It was nice adding this on myself instead of paying double the price for a dealer to do it for me. I've used a bike rack with this, and hauled a lot of items in a trailer, and have had exactly zero issues with this hitch. 122504

This may have been the best online purchasing experience that I have ever had. Customer Service was UNREAL and answered questions via email on a Sunday. I had perfect access to shipping and tracking from the get-go. Trailer hitch arrived within four days, and shipping was free. If EVERY online retailer worked as efficiently and as professionally as etrailer.com the world would be a much, much better place. To be honest, I am still sort of in awe at how well this company is run. I haven't even installed the hitch on my wife's car yet (just arrived today) but from here on out it's all my responsibility and the posted reviews surely make it sound like a no-brainer. And the online video has already laid out what needs to be done. Etrailer.com has gone above and beyond all my expecations. What a great experience. Every hitch I buy from now on will come from these guys, zero doubt about that. Great, great people. Thanks etrailer.com! 304080

I think this will work well on my 2010 honda fit. Install took 1:45 by myself and without use of a jack (didn't seem worth the added hassle). Thanks for the video. 3 gripes: 1: Drilling or chiseling the frame should be unnecessary if etrailer would just make the rectangular "washers" slightly thinner. This would greatly reduce install time & tools. 2: The receiver tube is BARELY (within 1/8") long deep enough for my saris bike rack. I had to remove the plastic clip on the end of the saris rack in order to get the pin hole to line up. This meant that i could not use my threaded/lockable saris pin. 3: Install was difficult, since my muffler barely dropped when i removed the hanger, so i needed long-reach tools to get past the muffler. Also, a class 1 hitch has relatively few uses, but i guess i shouldn't expect to be able to tow a boat with my honda fit. 236206

Happy with the product, though because I am an amateur mechanic I failed to do the obvious: check that all the nuts and bolts fit before the installation! One nut was the wrong size disabling my car until I found a ride to the hardware store for the correct size replacement nut. 162234

Comments

Very happy with the hitch, works very well with the bike rack I bought, all is forgiven for the wrong sized nut!

excellent product, very pleased, fits tight up under the car, I was able to install in just 45 minutes like you said, would have been faster but after I pulled my muffler out of the way I didn't realise it had to go in before the hitch...at least I just had the bolts set loose. Tips for the 2013 fit, shoot some lubricant on the rubber muffler mounts to make them slide off easier, I used a large pair of channel locks to "tear" the small amount of frame needed to elongate the back bolt holes and make sure the muffler is on top of the hitch when lifting into place to final bolt but leave it loose until hitch bolts are tight. It took an hour and 13 minutes to install the wiring kit, a bit tricky since the car wires are so small, on the fit the right turn wire comes from the drivers side so I didn't have to run the wire across the car. Thanks for a great product at a great price. 138736

Honda Fit

The hitch arrived this afternoon for my Honda Fit and inside of an hour and 10 minutes later, this 70ish male was washing his hands. This has to be one of the best designed bolt on hitches that I have ever installed, and I've installed a few in my time. The only recommendation I would have is, if you are going to install it by yourself, have a few pieces of scrap wood handy to help support one end of the hitch while you attach the other end to the body of the vehicle. Other than that, this hitch install is a no-brainer. The Honda Fit is not much of a tow car, and the hitch won't be used for that, but to support a bicycle carrier, a wheel chair carrier for my bride, and a support for my kayak, this hitch will fit my needs very well. Thanks, Etrailer, you sell a great product at an excellent price and your shipping policy is great. Thanks very much for your help. 347714

2012 Honda Fit Sport

Installation was on a 2012 Honda Fit Sport. The video produced by etrailer.com was VERY HELPFUL. The instructions leave a bit to the imagination. The video shows exactly where the wheel well plastic trim needs to be cut and the importance of dropping the exhaust before attempting to "keyhole" the right side. A third pair of hands (or a floor jack as I used) is very helpful to raise the hitch while bolting on the hardware. 61561

Hitch arrived promptly and installation was very straightforward. You will need some sort of rotary tool or ginder to cut a 1/16 in groove into two of the frame holes to get the nut plates to fit into the frame. Believe it or not you can actually install the hitch by yourself and without dropping the exhaust although it does take some flexibility. Overall great product and great price. 2013 Honda Fit Sport 5 door 97123

Mine is a 2010 fit with the sport package and this fit perfectly. I highly recommend watching the video to master the techniques for using the screw-on wires to pull the bolts through the frame (this technique is a time saver!). Keep these wires attached until you are ready to put on each nut because it's easy to bump them back into the frame. Also, I did not detach and lower the muffler as shown in the video but you can work around the muffler if you have a bit of dexterity. I worked at a slow pace and the installation time was 2 hours (although 40 minutes is clearly possible). 17245

First, I can only comment on the install. I have not used the hitch, yet, but I will shortly. The install could be made much easier with the use of 2 people and some small hands. Access to the bolt, which sits above the muffler, proves mighty difficult. It's certainly not made any easier when you do it yourself. Otherwise the install went fairly smoothly. The unit fit nice and snug, without any manual manipulation. A deep socket 11/16ths is a very good socket to have around. My standard socket set was not deep enough to completely seat the bolts on the washers. Overall install was not difficult. Cumbersome but not difficult. All of the supplied bolts, washers, spacers and pull wires worked perfectly. I can't wait to throw my bike rack on this. 189776

After watching the video, I felt like a pro installing the hitch. It is a little difficult to do without being on a stand however. I definitely recommend using a ratchet strap to pull the exhaust on the Honda Fit over an inch or two. I would also recommend that you use the jack from the trunk of your car to prop up the hitch as you find the first bolts. If you are doing it on the ground like I did, I would also recommend doing the driver side first so you can get the first bolts on without the exhaust in the way. It's on the car now. Looks great. Minor cosmetic scuffs out of the box, but the part of the bar that you can see is totally smooth. Thanks for the great videos. I'm looking forward to hauling my bikes to the park with my kid. 268920

Very good product, after viewing the install video, I ordered and had installed in 1 hour. The holes all lined up and had no issues with the install. The hitch itself is strong and solid, and is very good for a bike rack, or some other item that does not weigh more then the limits posted. I would not install to tow any trailers the hitch would take it but not the Honda Fit it is installed on, read the manuel. 54305

It funny in other countries such a the UK this car has a tow capacity of 450 kilos. I red that America does this to get the cusotmer to get a bigger vehicle and also to not be responsible for warranty coverage of transmission. I know of other Fit owners that tow small trailers and small boats with no issue.

A car of the same name, built for different markets, are rarely identical. Europe has different safety standards and automotive regulations than does North America or South America or Asia. Check out the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act for information regarding warranties in the United States.

2014 Honda Fit

Hitch bolted right up, 2014 Honda Fit. 30 minute install. Rather than following installation instructions and enlarging holes in frame rails. I installed bolts from top, through 2 factory holes already in trunk floor. The 2 access holes just needed enlarged a little bit. But this avoided me working under car. The supplied wires to fish bolts through frame worked fantastic. The funky hitch design allows for plenty clearance around the muffler for an easy install. I gave it four stars because it flexes a little more than I care to see, but so far its working great. Overall I am pleased with its performance. 30 minute install. including, locating alternate frame access holes under carpet. 171918

2013 Honda Fit

The hitch was a breeze to install on my 2013 Honda Fit, and gutting the rear interior panels to install the 4 pole adapter was easy and fun. It took us an hour and a half to get the job done with two people. It would take a bit longer as a solo job, but it's a very simple install, and would be doable alone using blocks. Wiring tested fine on the trailer. There is a little play in between the drawbar and the hitch receiver, but it's nothing worth worrying about for light towing applications. Drawtite drawbar and Drawtite hitch receiver are made for one another, and I would definitley recommend this solution to anyone looking to tow a kayak or small sport frame trailer with a 2013 Fit. 339865

I mounted the hitch reciever on my 2012 Honda Fit Sport yesterday. The hitch went on without a hitch. ( pun intended). I simply backed the rear tires onto a 4" high home made ramp. This gave me room to work under the car. I pretty much just did as the hitch installation video showed. The mounting is solid and looks good on the car. In other words you can't really notice it when the bike rack is not attached. After torquing to the supplied specs I mounted the bike rack and took a short drive with the bikes. I'm very happy with the product. Two people could mount the hitch faster and easier than one. Even so I had the hitch on in an hour and a half by myself. the 34184

I started the initial installation of the Draw-Tite hitch on my 2011 Honda Fit the day before the second set of "helper hands" came on the scene. I enlarged the rear frame holes as was suggested in the online video by myself, and cut away the required plastic bumper (?) piece. I strongly suggest you repeatedly watch the installation video several times until you can explain it clearly to your helper. The next day a hired hand came to help me and we finished the install in about one hour. I have not installed the trailer "light kit" yet. I have used the hitch to carry a heavy-duty three-bike rack over the 1200 mile round trip from Chico to San Diego with no problems. 110605

I searched the web for the best deal and I truly found it here. I wanted a bike rack for my new Honda Fit. Etrailer had the best price on the hitch and the rack plus they had free shipping. Even with the free shipping it only took 3 days to get my package. I was very pleased with the customer service. Almost too good to be true. They had an instructional video to help with installation which was great for my non mechanical husband. He installed it no problem. It works great and looks amazing. I usually skip the follow up review on web purchases but they really deserved the praise. Stop wasting time like I did shopping around for a better deal. This is it! 44609

I ordered the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver for my Honda Fit and it FIT perfectly! Installation was as easy as the video and the 1.25">2.00" adapter I ordered at the same time fit the receiver so perfectly that there is ZERO rattle. It was as if it was machined to perfect tolerance. In Summary: 1) Cost was probably half that of a professional installation 2) Shipment was < 1 week 3) Shipping & Handling: $0.00 4) Time was less than 20 minutes. 5) Tools were minimal, 1 socket, 1 pry bar for exhaust hangers 6) Anesthetics: Looks factory installed. Just like example photos 7) Suggestions for Improvement: Absolutely none! 86916

I can't say enough about etrailer.com, their service, or the products. The hitch I bought fit the first time, without any extra work like enlarging the holes or whatever. I also bought the wiring kit for my car, and it was easy to install and worked correctly as well. I ordered late on a Sunday evening, and had the order in my hands (halfway across the country) that Friday afternoon with free shipping. I will definitely be a return customer, and recommend this company highly. And, for the record, I don't have any connection to etrailer (I'd actually never heard of them until I started looking for a hitch). John B. 17451

Instructions were good. I didn't have to take off the wheel well cover. I used a Dremel and was able to trim it with it in place. The Dremel also made the key slot. A long extension on the socket helped. I don't know how I would have done the job without it. A competitor's video showed unbolting the muffler to access the bolts. It was not necessary with the extension on the socket. (By the way - I am a woman and only had help holding it in place while I put the nuts on the bolts.) The trailer hitch is barely noticeable. I ordered a bike rack for a 1.25 receiver. I can't wait to get it and try it out! 8949

Received a little late due to snow delay which is fine. Installed same day. Install was smooth with Fit on ramps. Only issue was mounting hitch on bolts. I had to have my 11 year old daughter hold up my side while I screwed in bolts it right spot by muffler while other side was being held up by an 18" log. Bolting other side was easier. Completed in about 2 hrs in the cold and dark. Installed my thule rack and looks great. Thinking of a platform rack now, they are lighter and I only need 2 spaces unlike my thule 4 space and weighing 40lbs. I'll put that on my suburban. 2011 Honda Fit

Ordered it on Monday and it was delivered on Thursday (free shipping). Hitch receiver was very well built but quite a bit lighter than I expected. It fit the 2011 Sport Fit perfectly with 3/8th to 1/2 inch clearance in all areas while fitting snuggly (with clearance) along the bottom of the chassis. I put it on Friday evening and I found the instructions (along with the web based video) to be thorough and easy to follow. Quite frankly, it was a piece of cake for just one person to install using a floor jack and a couple of jack stands. Thanks for a great product, quick service and easy installation. 315989

2009 Honda Fit

The hitch for my daughters 2009 Honda Fit came today. Ordered Sunday night and arrived Thursday morning. I have dealt with E-Trailer before and have nothing but ultimate satisfaction. Everything fits like a glove, The support videos are the best, I can do step by step with a tablet under the car and if I get stuck I can always call Customer service who with one sentence and little hold time can fix my problem. If ever I have a trailer, hitch, trailer wiring need, I don't shop around , I go directly to E-Trailer who's prices are competetive, shipping is fast, and support is second to none. 193051

The trailer hitch went onto my 2009 Honda Fit with ease. Husband and I watched the video a couple times, fought with the muffler holders and dropped the bolts a couple times but all and all we installed the hitch in under an hour and saved at least a hundred dollars on installation. However, the best part of the whole process has been etrailer.com's customer service. From the confirmation email for the sale to the follow-up email with instruction videos, etrailer.com has been the example all other e-sellers should follow. I will ALWAYS search for an item here first. Good job guys! 224279

Installing this was the easiest project I've had in years! The Honda Fit installation video on the etrailer site was immensely helpful. I used a metal file to cut the notch in the frame to get the backing plate into the frame. It only took me about 3 minutes of filing on each hole. I was working by myself, and had everything torqued down and cleaned up in just over an hour. 35791

This is a great product and I am very pleased how easy it was to install, the video helped a lot and it took about and 1hour 20min to install set up & clean up. Probably could have done it faster with a second person but was able to do it just fine by myself using car jack to hold up one side. did not have to unhook the muffler, just used a extension and was able to access the bolts very easily. Great product and would recommend it to anyone who wants to put a hitch on their Fit. it looks great and works great for the bike rack I am using on it. 43283

If you have a Honda fit and you are a guy, well, you have a problem (COME ON THIS IS A GIRL'S CAR). Now if you are a girl, or if your wife has one, this is the hitch for you. Took me 20 min to install and 10 of those minutes was spend chugging beer while playing with power tools. Holds the bike rack just fine, and my wife loved it so much she promised me that next sunday i can do more manly stuff....I have already bought the gun and the beer. On the real tip, this was super easy to install (for real 20 minutes) and fits perfect. 144271

Like the product, the upgraded delivery, the videos and loved the service. Got email confirmations each step of the way and a follow up email after the product was delivered. As a home DIYer, I would have appreciated some tips in the video on installation without availability of a garage lift. I also wish the video had been a bit more specific on interference with the muffler heat shield. I think it would have been easier if I had bent the heat shield out of the way before positioning the hitch. But all in all, I was very pleased. 55261

This is the latest of several Draw-Tite hitches I have owned. All have fit perfectly and were easy to install. Installation time was less than 1 hour working alone. During installation I only removed a push-pin from the plastic wheel well. I did not see a need to do any trimming as suggested in the instructions since the hard plastic is thin and only covers a small contact area between the hitch and vehicle frame. I did use locktite to secure the bolts. I plan to use the hitch to mount a bike rack on my 2011 Honda Fit 6660
