Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Today on this 2003 Chevrolet Impala we are going to install part number 24681 from Draw-Tite. The first thing that we are going to do is show you where the hitch mounts up on the vehicle. There are two existing holes here and here, on the bottom of the vehicle that are already drilled out. But we still have to enlarge these to 1/ 2 inch. And also, on this first cross member in the back, before the spare tire well, is going to be an existing hole here and here. And just to make things easy too, you can actually hold up the hitch, center it and it will show you which holes to drill out. Alright, let us get going and drill out all of the holes we need. 0:56
Alright let us go ahead and start installing our hardware into the bumper first. We are going to use this square plate and then this bolt right here, which is going to be the 1-3/ 4 inch one. There are two sizes of bolts. The other one is 1-1/ 4 inches. On this application we are going to use 1-3/ 4 inches. First we can just tuck all of that in there and it in. To install our hardware here, what we are going to do is use a wire to pull this block and this 7/ 16 inch carriage bolt from this hole here out of this hole here. Now, you can use a wire pull from etrailer.com using part number 80103-1. Or, if you want, you can use some stove wire or basically any type of wire that holds its shape pretty good. You can use that too. What we are going to do is go ahead and put our block onto the bolt. And what we are going to do is wrap the wire into the threads of the bolt. You can see how we put the wire into the thread, put your thumb over it and just wrap it around. Keep it inside the threads and you have your own bolt leader. And you want to make sure that that edge gets pushed in there too. What we are actually going to do first is go ahead and put the wire in place and then wrap it up. And there you have it. OK, we are going to repeat the same process on the other side of the cross member. 2:55
We are going to go ahead and start hanging the hitch. We are going to start with the bumper bolts first. Then we will go to the back. Use a conical tooth washer, a 1/ 2 inch one, and a conical tooth nut. And we are just going to leave those loose. Alright, we will do the same thing for the bolts going towards the front of the vehicle. We will go ahead and snug the bolts down. And then we will go ahead and torque them down as specified in the instructions. Alright, now we will go ahead and lower the vehicle and get you a couple of hitch measurements with the vehicle on the ground. The first measurement is going to be from the ground to the top of the receiver opening. And on this particular vehicle it looks like about 13-1/ 4 inches. And from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the bumper is going to be about 5 inches. And with that, that will finish our install of part number 24681 from Draw-Tite.

The receiver hitch for my 2000 Impala is great! I wanted a bolt on hitch for my bike rack to quickly attach to for hauling my bike to various locations. The receiver hitch bolted right on with no issues. This allows me to keep miles off my newer truck, enjoy good gas mileage, and enjoy the great outdoors! I highly recommend etrailer.com for trailering needs! 364254

Had my boy get this for me. Right one sent first time. Fit on my cay like it was built with it. Instructions were easy to follow and easy to install. This product has proven to be exactly what I needed to enable me to enjoy summer afternoons on the sailboat! I was looking for a fair priced trailer hitch to put on the back of my car and I came across this model. I decided to go for it and purchased it. The product arrived on schedule and was quick and easy for my mechanic to install. So far I have been using it for several weeks and it has provided consistent reliability when pulling my small sailboat too and from the dock. I would definitely recommend this hitch to anyone looking for a simple way to get a small trailer to and from a location using your car. 287794
Perfect fit, and super fast delivery!! 231934
Draw-tite hitch 24681 is super easy to install, make sure you have item C58410 and a high quality 1/2 inch drill bit ahead of time. having both can cut install time to under 15 minutes. It's a class 1 so the hitch is super light weight. I used ramps to bring the rear of the vehicle up. It worked great. 190755
Put on the hitch in no time at all after watching on line video. The next night I put on the wiring harness. Both parts went on easily, just like displayed in the video. Another great product with excellent customer service. I think this was the fourth hitch from etrailer - it just gets better each time. 148518
It helps if you back your car onto ramps four more room. Also, if you just push a thin wire or hanger through the bolt holes for the back of the brace (closer to the front of your car) out to the larger holes in the sides of the frame and then place the bolt into the rectangular support plate. I found that if you use a heavy fishing line our a narrow piece of string you can easily pull that back through the bolt hole. Just wrap the string around the threads and tie it tight (a wrap of electrical tape would not hurt just to be sure you do not lose your bolt and bracket) in the frame. Then feed the bolt and bracket into the larger hole and BAM it pulls out of the mounting holes easily. I have some experience fishing things, but it only took about 10 min to do both sides. Then bolt the back of the hitch on and be careful not to push the bolt back up into the frame. Do not fully tighten the back bolts until you drill out the front holes (near the bumper) out for the bolt to fit. Then just place the smaller bolts into the square bracket and push them through from behind then fully tighten all four of the bolts and you cane have this hitch on in way less than an hour. I am so glad I did not go and spend a fortune at u-haul and did the work on my own. It does help to have a second person to hold the hitch at times) The electrical is pretty easy also just take off your rear lights and make sure you splice into the proper electrical wires. I was very happy with my purchase and will not buy a hitch any-where else!! 121556
Fast Shipped good product I recommend. 108074
excellent bolted right up no problems, the instructions did call for a 7/8 socket it took a 3/4. if that is as hard as it gets life would be perfect. 97547
Hitch seems of good quality and was a fairly easy install alone. Putting the back of the car up on ramps gave me enough room to easily drill the rear holes bigger and the use of the OEM car jack to hold the hitch in place while I tightened the nuts. Hitch still leaves room for clearing curbs which is a big deal for those of us who back in everywhere. it has a higher clearance than the tailpipe. Recommendation, if you also purchase the light wiring harness for 04 impala, put it on first, the receiver plug wire fits perfect thru the hitches center gap at the rear of the car. 85738
Great product! easy install, only bad thing is the Bolts stick out like a sore Thumb. 79216
The product is a good value. Installing your own hitch is not a difficult job as long as you have a torque wrench. The most difficult part was using the fishwire to pull two of the bolts through without losing them in the frame. Lost 1 bolt and spent an extra 20 minutes recovering it, but otherwise no problems. Product fit fine and works well. 57033
Very good hitch, It took about a half hour to put on my 2001 Impala. Also the wiring harness took about the same time. very good product's. 33703
It was easy to handle and install...Took exactly 40 mins. just like the instructions said. I am very please with this item so far. 32521
The Draw-Tite hitch receiver arrive on time. The installation went smooth. The on-line video from e-trailers web site really made the difference in the installation (it would have been difficult with just the written instructions that came with the package). I was a little worried about having to “fish” the support bolts through the car frames access opening and into the bolt holes (I was worried about the wire coming off). In the end there was no problem. 23851
Clean, simple, and only about 50 minutes. Just what a 70 wear old hopes for. Just follow the directions, including the light harness. Get'er done. Thaqnks, Jerry V,Arizona. 20114
I was very satisfied with my hitch. The video on how to install it was exellent. It made the job of instalation a breeze. The quality of the hitch is top notch. Thank You for your prompt service. I am very satisfied with this product and will recommend your company to others. 20017
