Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

My hitch and lighting kit were shipped immediately and received ahead of schedule. All fit perfectly and worked as promissed. I installed the hitch in an hour. It helped to use two ramps on the rear of my van for more clearance. Lights took a littlle longer. I was careful to route cables as described in the directions and secured carefully with cable ties. I'm more than satisfied and saved a lot of money in the process. This is how I always want to do business! Thanks etrailer!

Excellent. ....no problems.

Looks great easy to install took only half hour. Had to use a floor jack as an extra hand, but when there is a will there is a way. The wiring harness was easy to install only time consuming part is running the main power wire. Its great to have video instuctions via youtube as well as paper. Plan on pulling 4x8 trailer with atv or a small pop up camper, very happy with product!

Love Draw-Tite trailer hitches. Name fits hidden appearance. Website description says for Dodge Caravan but paperwork with hitch confirms it’s for Town & Country also.

2010 DodgeGrand Caravan

This is my 2nd class II trailer hitch from etrailer. I purchased one about 9 years ago for a 2006 Dodge Caravan. Latest hitch was for a used 2010 Dodge Caravan which I recently purchased. I installed both the 2006 and 2010 Caravan hitches myself – both were easy – just 4 bolts – although with the 2010 Caravan I had to detach 3 muffler hangers to move muffler aside so I could get access to the 2 passenger side bolts. If you can, elevate the rear of the car – makes it much easier to do the work

by:

Took 1-1/2 hour to install, I took dinner break between, fit perfect I did it my self (81 years young)next is the wiring harness.Very satisfied.

2011 DodgeGrand Caravan

Arrived quick. Install was on 2011 Grand Caravan. The video shows them removing just the rear tail pipe hanger but I had to remove both rear and next one and STILL needed help pulling down and out on the tailpipe. That was the only issue I had, took a bit longer to do but its on, looks great.

2014 DodgeGrand Caravan

I ordered the Draw-Tite Class 2 hitch fitted for a late-model Dodge Grand Caravan and the Curt wiring harness for the same application. Fit and finish on the hitch were very good. Installation took longer than advertised, but that's more Chrysler's fault than Draw-Tite's; I had to remove 3 exhaust system hangers rather than the 1 suggested in order to work the hitch into position. The Curt harness also took longer, mostly because I added strong plastic sheathing to the wire from the control unit to the battery and I was very finicky about routing this wire to avoid any possibility of damage under normal use--and I was using jackstands rather than a lift to work under the van, which limited my workspace. Bottom line, though, is that everything came together perfectly, the setup worked flawlessly when I rented a trailer today, and I saved some serious money over a professional installation. Oh, the green wire in the Curt harness was plenty long; they must have read the older reviews. The black (battery connection) wire was closer to being too short, but I made it work. Curt could throw a few more zipties into the package, too.

Received my class II (1.25) Drawtite hitch for my 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan yesterday. I installed it this morning within 1 hour using ramps. I completed the job asking for assistance only once to get the first mounting bolt started. While I was awaiting delivery I watched etrailer's video several times. Watching the videos on their website was critical for me (I only wish I had that guy's lift)! I had absolutely no issues and the included instructions gave me the torque specs.

Great. I use the hitch every weekend when I install my bike rack.

by:

Hitch fits our 2014 Chrysler T&C perfectly and was easy to install. The hitch was just placed in a large box for shipping with no packing material. The box was and hitch were damaged when UPS dropped it off. However, etrailer offered to send touch up paint or a credit for us to purchase paint. So 4 out of 5 for the hassle but I am satisfied with the credit.

etrailer is my goto place when it comes time to order a hitch. This is my 3rd hitch from them and its my first and only stop when it comes time to order. With prices like these and a full line up of product they never miss the mark, the fast delivery didn't hurt either. The installation videos offer real help when it comes time to decide if doing the job yourself is they way to go. Great job guys count me in as a customer for life.

This was my second install of a trailer hitch on my 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. Instruction video was nice and was relevant to my installation, which helped alot. I am sure that once I get another van, I'll probably order another hitch. Saved myself about $275 by doing it myself....

I own a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. I purchased the trailer hitch receiver to be able to haul bikes on a bike rack. The receiver was easy to install. The rear tires of the van were driven up ramps to allow easy access to the underside of the van. The exhaust system mounting has to be lowered (not removed) to provide access to the bolts on the right side of the van. Once the receiver is installed, tightened up the exhaust system mounting supports.

by:

Very easy install on the hitch. Rather than pull any additional bolts off the exhaust (like other posts state) I followed the instructions and used a 1" ratchet strap around the tail pipe to the bumper cover support, and pulled the muffler out of the way to make it easier to access the bolts with a 1/2" drive ratchet and extension. Once I had them out I released the strap, moved it out of the way, and put the hitch up in place with the bracket on the muffler side just resting on the muffler I started the bolts on the opposite side. I then reinstalled the ratchet strap and pulle the muffler out of the way.

Only disappointment I have is that the edges had laser oxide on them from when they were cut so the paint peeled off the edge of the bracket. Defeats the durability of the powder paint if it is. A little better cleaning of the raw parts would fix this and then I wouldn't have had to touch them up.

Overall good product and easy install. Just over 30 minutes. Like the way it looks too. Kind of hidden. :)

2014 DodgeGrand Caravan

Hitch fit perfectly for my 2014 Dodge Caravan. The installation video was helpful. It showed one bolt needing to be removed for lowering the exhaust, but in reality there are four. They run the length of the undercarriage along the muffler itself. The hardest to reach is the rear axle one. If you back up onto a set of car ramps all is accessible. The hitch has three holes at each end and there are three bolts in the frame. You only need to use the rearmost two bolts on either side. Installation time is about 20 minutes.
As to the wiring harness, I agree with others, it would have been nicer to have had an additional 6" of green wire so the control box could sit higher in the driver's rear light housing area. Definitely install and connect green wire before attaching box. Placing the car ramps under both driver's side wheels and raising the left side of the van gave plenty of access to string and weave the power (black) wire to the battery. Not sure what a factory install tow package goes for but I am very sure I saved money going this route.
Delivery was unusually fast and efficient. Pre-purchase inquiries were quick, thorough, and informative. I strongly recommend Etrailer.com

Product arrived promptly and fit my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan - perfectly. It fits close to the vehicle and does not stick down too much, as to drag on driveways.

by:
2014 DodgeGrand Caravan

Product arrived promptly and in good shape. Took a little over a hour to install. I did it alone with the back of the car up on ramps. I needed to remove a third exhaust hanger (further forward) to get the pipe to drop down enough to get access to the frame bolts. Installing alone is tough because you have to hold the hitch in one hand, (about 30 pounds) and manipulate the first bolt with the other, while lying on your back. I'm sure the guy in the video has a helper and has the car on a lift. I MacGyvered it by propping it on cinder blocks. Very happy with this hitch and would recommend it to anyone with a 2014 Dodge Van.

by:

Fit perfectly, easy installation.

by:

It fit well. The only problem was a broken bolt that was part the van, not the hitch

by:

First off, I have ordered from etrailer.com for many years. They are simply the best! When I received the hitch, the tow bar was not in the box. Of course a phone call is all that was needed to get it on the way to me (it arrived in a few days). In the meantime I installed the hitch with no problems. The videos are very helpful and I recommend watching them. I disconnected the two exhaust hangers only and was able to get the factory installed bolts removed and reinstalled by pulling the exhaust to the side. As someone else stated in their review, it is easier to place the passenger side of the hitch on top of the exhaust first and lift the drivers side into place and start those two bolts. Then place the passenger side in position and then torque all four bolts.

by:

Bought this trailer hitch and wiring about a year ago. I've used them alot, towing a utility trailer carrying a thousand pounds of pellets at a time, a ridding lawnmower, furniture and many trips to the dump. The hitch is still sturdy and looks good. It easily paid for itself. If you are handy you should be able to install them yourself. Excellent products.

Chrysler Town and Country

My order arrived promptly and was complete as ordered. The installation video was helpful and the printed instructions complete. As noted by previous customers, the hook up wire to the passenger tail light assembly was just adequate. My only complaint is that the included ball mount had too much rise for my application. I thought that it would work based on the 12" hitch height that I recall seeing for my Town and Country, but I easily corrected the problem once I made the measurements after the instillation.
The plug in electrics are great and the installation looks "factory". I've ordered from you before and will continue to do so as you have a great company.

Love your products ,help, prices and fast shipping .A friend had a boat trailer with bad bearings because the spindle sealing area was badly damaged your sleeve repair kit saved time and money.I have purchased three hitches and harnesses worked great.

by:
2008 DodgeGrand Caravan

I purchased trailer hitch, product #36455 for my 2008 Dodge Caravan, Stow- n- Go. The fit was perfect and the installation instructions were very clear. Installation is doable for someone with a little mechanical ability, but in my opinion it takes two people. I put my vehicle on a set of ramps which made access easier. The trick is to balance the 40 or so pound hitch in place while fitting the first bolt in place. The other issue is access to the bolts on the passenger side because of the muffler. It is doable but tricky. I was unable to get to the large bolt on the passenger side with my torque wrench, so I applied some threadlocker (available in hardware stores) to that bolt and tightened it as hard as I could with my ratchet wrench.

The Draw-Tite Class II Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 36455, requires the drawbar be used in the rise position. Another option would be to go with a different hitch and draw bar. I recommend going with a higher capacity hitch with a 2 inch receiver opening. With a 2 inch opening, you will have more gross trailer weight capacity, more tongue weight capacity, and more options for accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers, and you will be able to use a drawbar in the drop position. • What is the Difference Between a Class II Trailer Hitch and Class III Trailer Hitch
Basically a lot depends on what you will be using the hitch for. If it is just for accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier than for the most part you will be fine with a Class II trailer hitch. If you will be towing then I would go with the stouter Class III hitch. There are several differences between a Class II and Class III trailer hitch. The biggest differences are the size of the receiver opening and the capacities. A Class II trailer hitch will have a 1-1/4 inch receiver...
