Today we are going to be taking a look at the best hitches available for our 2011 Dodge Durango. Here on the top we've got our hidden hitch, class three. This is part number 87608. Just below it is the curt, class three. That part number is C13182 and then here on the bottom we've got the hidden hitch's twin, the draw-tite, part number 75713. A slight cosmetic difference that we're going to notice in the curt, is that here just behind the receiver tube, the round tube is straight, whereas with both the hidden hitch and with the draw-tite, where it's got an angle that's going to continue from the bracket all the way up to the receiver. A few of the other differences we'll notice about our hidden hitch or our draw-tite, which are again are the same hitch versus our curt, is that they're going to have a bracket that's been welded on here that allows for pretty easy wiring connection. There's going to be three pre-drilled holes in that bracket to allow us to mount any kind of wiring that we'd want right up to it. Another thing I notice different, the size of our safety chain connection loops are quite a bit bigger on the hidden hitch or the draw-tite versus the curt.
The curt's just a little bit smaller. I really don't think it's going to give you any issues connecting safety chains to any one of them, but there's certainly a size difference. That one's about two fingers wide, where this one we're going to be closer to four. You'll see the double pins set up in the hidden hitch and the draw-tite. The rear one's our main pin. That's the one we're going to use for our five-eighth's or class three accessories.
The one on the front side here, this is for use with the j-pin stabilization device, whereas with our curt you can see we've got a single five-eighth's inch pinhole and it's far enough out from the receiver tube that any of the accessories should work for that as well as long as they are rated as a class three. As far as weight ratings go, our curt has a little bit of an advantage in the standard tongue weight department. That's the direct pressure we can put downward right here on the receiver tube of the hitch. It's going to be 750 pounds. If we look at our hidden hitch here or the draw-tite at the bottom, that's going to be 600 pounds. As far as gross trailer weight capacity, the draw-tite and the hidden hitch have a little bit of an advantage. The gross trailer weight's going to be the total weight of your trailer and everything you've got loaded up.
Draw-tite and hidden hitch say they can do 6000 pounds, where the curt is rated at 5000 pounds. Once we add in a weight distribution setup on any of the hitches, we're going to have 750 pound tongue weight on each of them and a 7500 pound trailer weight capacity on each them. With the curt having that slightly higher tongue weight capacity, with or without weight distribution, we say this is probably going to be your stiffer hitch so if you've got a lot of the big platform style racks or your big five bike racks, might be just a little bit stronger in that twisting area than what we get out of the other ones. If you're not using weight distribution and it's going to be specifically for towing, maybe the hidden hitch or the draw-tite will have a little bit of an advantage because right out of the box we're looking at 6000 pounds. Here's a look at our curt once we get it installed. As we talked about, it's going to have that straight bar coming across here at the rear of our receiver where with our hidden hitch or our draw-tite it's going to have a longer angle back there.
We might see a little more of that too on the draw-tite or hidden hitch versus our curt here. One of the differences we see in our measurements is going to be from on the curt from the center of our hitch pin hole here to the outer most edge of our bumper, we've got about three inches, whereas with the draw-tite or with the hidden hitch that's going to be moved back towards the rear by about an inch. That will give us a little more clearance between maybe our bike rack and the rear of our vehicle or cargo carrier if it folds up. It will give us about an inch more clearance from the rear of the vehicle to that item. From the inside top edge of the receiver tube opening here to the ground, they're the exact same. All of them sit about fourteen inches depending on your vehicle setup. Now that we've had a good look at the differences of the best hitches available for the Dodge Durango we hope it will help you in making your buying decision.

Hitch receiver was very straight forward and easy to install. As easy as lowering the spare tire, removing 4 bolts and re-installing the 4 bolts with the hitch in place. The only issue that I had was installing this on my own as the hitch has a little weight on it and holding it in place while aligning the holes and screwing in the bolts was a challenge. I suggest if you have a buddy available to use their extra hands. I put this hitch to immediate use and was not disappointed! The hitch receiver is a little low so I suggest a ball mount with a 4 inch drop and mount the ball so that the mount raises it up for easier use of your trailer. All in all I am very happy with this purchase and suggest to everyone in the market for one! 79890

Extremely easy to mount on the Durango, took two of us only minutes in the driveway. The chain attachment loops are big and easy to fit the chain hook through. At first it looked like the hitch may be low and hit the pavement, but even through the huge drainage swales we have around here, the hitch never touched the ground. The box was all beat up and the ends of the hitch had minor scratches, but the hitch is so heavy duty it did not change shape. Use with the ball mount upside down. Requires a torque wrench for proper install. 135625

2013 Dodge Durango Just like the description states, it is a straight bolt on installation. Very simple. 134263

This is my second R/T Durango and second hitch and wiring I have purchased from etrailer. Installation was as simple as it gets. The Curt wiring harness plugs right into the factory wiring. I know the description says the car has to have the factory tow package bit it doesn't. All you need to do is have your dealer flash the computer to activate the existing wiring. Awesome 204146

Ordered hitch and harness. I was originally told it was on backorder, but the products were received close to the original expected delivery date. Hitch worked great. Harness ordered for 2013 Durango did not quite fit - I still need to splice tghe wire to the right turn signal. But I am pleased with the service and the price, and satisfied with the products. 137871
This product is awesome! It took my husband less than an hour to attach the hitch and plug in the trailer lights!!! He was very impressed at how easy and heavy duty this product was. He is used to welding and splicing and taking two days to have to attach a hitch..Not any more!!! We will definitely recommend this product and etrailer to all of our friends!!! 63122
I have not removed the product from the shipping packaging yet because this was purchased as a Christmas gift for my son. The box has been torn though on both ends (it looks like someone stepped on the box because there are foot prints on it). Hopefully the hitch has not been damaged. I am just rating this as good because of the damaged packaging. 110888
10 min install fit like a glove. Looks good and doesn't stick out past bumper, so you won't smash your shin into it walking around truck. 124438
Easiest install ever, 4 bolts and your ready to go! Only took 10 minutes to install. Super heavy duty hitch or else it would have only taken 5 minutes! Delivery was quick and free, what more could you ask for, except maybe a tow ball or hitch! Anyway I give it a 10 for easy, strength, and simplify! Cheers 137533

Didn't install yet but the way it looks and feels I am sure I won't be disapointed! Very fast shipping and when I had questions before ordering to make sure everything would fit the people at etrailer where AWESOME. Keep up the GREAT work. I will send a picture and let you know how it went when I install. 77506
Excellent product. I just installed a few days ago so havent towed anything with it yet. It bolted on to my 2012 Dodge Durango with no trimming of the facia and used bolts that were already on the vehicle. I would highly recommend this product to others. Great service from etrailers as well!!!! 62840

Install of the hitch was easy and straightforward. Written directions were less than optimal but the youtube videos were a great help. Total time to install the hitch was less than an hour. 209917

This trailer hitch is great. Took about 15 minutes to install. Most difficult part was getting the spare tire out. It fits really nice close up to the bumper and does not stick out to far. 48505

Hitch was an exact fit on a 2015 Dodge Durango Limited. Hitch took about 20 min to install. Very easy as long as you have the right size socket or wrench for the car. 192967
Excellent support by the etrailer team, delivery on time and very happy with the result. Hitch fits well. I installed on my Durango in 10 minutes. 132879

It was more difficult getting my spare tire out of the way than installing the trailer hitch myself. 130324
Great service and product. Bolted up in minutes, I did not have to remove spare tire either! :) 211337
