Rate your transcript OrderClientKevin BrossRef #20634Order #TC0837011353 Today here on our 1999 Ford F-350 Super Duty, we're going to be installing the Curt class 5 2.5 inch receiver tube hitch, part number C15810. Here's what our hitch will look like once installed. Next, go ahead and give you a couple of measurements to assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch, such as a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper, it's 3.5 inches. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 22.25 inches. Now, go ahead with the installation. We're going to go ahead and lower and remove the spare time to make it easier to install the new hitch. All right, now we can go ahead and point out the attachment points.

We have a total of eight attachment points, four on each side. You can see the pre-drilled holes in the frame by the manufacturer. At each of these attachment points, we're going to use a carriage bolt and block that will go down through the frame. Then we'll put the hitch in place, and secure it with a flange nut. To help distribute the weight of the hitch, I'll move it towards the middle, here on this side, and the middle on the other side. Then it's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch while you install your flange nut to hold it in place. Now, as we install the fasteners, we'll install each one finger tight until we have them all in the place.

Now that we've got one on each side holding our hitch in position, we'll go ahead and put the rest of our hardware in place. Again, we'll take the carriage bolt and block, put it down the pre-drilled hole in the frame and into the hitch. Thread on the flange nut. Keep in mind that the attachment points and hardware on the passenger side are identical to the driver's side, so each process we do here on one side will get repeated identically on the opposite side. Now, with all the hardware in place, we're going tighten it down. With our hardware tightened down, we can go ahead and torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions.

Now that everything's tightened down and torqued to specifications, we're ready to hit the road. That does it for the install of the Curt class 5 2.5 inch receiver tube hitch part number C15810 on our 1999 Ford F-350 Super Duty. .

Hitch looks great, and heavy. Bolt holes should be bigger in new receiver hitch so you can use the bigger factory bolts and nut fasteners to install new hitch, instead of the smaller bolts they send. The smaller supplied bolts must be up to the task if they send them on the heaviest hitch they sell. If bolt holes were bigger I would give it 5 stars. Lighter hitch = bigger bolts, heavier hitch = smaller bolts 388064

This thing is heavy duty!! Much more so than the 5000lb hitch that came off the truck. Installation was a breeze, it looks good, and does what we expected. Had an issue with shipping where the shipper damaged the shipping label and lost the address. After speaking a couple times with the shipper to no avail, I called Etrailer, and 3 days later, it was on our doorstep. Thank you again! 418079

Great solid hitch. Easy to install on 02 F250. Is tight around factory wiring receiver and have to nudge spare forward to go up all the way. Make sure you run the nut all the way up and down the bolts with a wrench before trying to put them on the truck, the zinc coating makes it really tight. Use the red locktite after aligning the hitch with the frame as extra assurance. 89321

so far only used it to pull a tree out! it definitely stiffens the [rear] end up nicely though after not having a hitch for a while and noticing the frame twist.

The hitch has held up nicely for the year that I have had it on my truck. It is very stout. The paint has held up well to the elements so far. It went on fairly easily and all of the holes lined up. It was helpful to have a second person to help hold the hitch in place in order to get the first bolts in. I purchased this hitch when I realized that the hitch that came with my truck was only rated at 3500lbs, a fair bit less than the trailer I tow.. The box that it came in barely held up to the shipping monkeys on the way out to the Seattle area. 338671

Hitch installed quite easily, about twenty minute job. Use it for pulling my 14 ft box trailer as well as a 16 foot flatbed that I haul my skid loader on. Been very satisfied and would highly recommend. I've ordered several items from etrailer and have always been happy with the service. I have and will continue to recommend them to anybody needing trailer or towing related items. 663807

I bought the whole kit. 20,000 lbs hitch, ball, receiver, and pin. It was easy to install as the instructions said. Being a heavier hitch, yes the help of a jack was needed but it bolted into place exactly where the old hitch mounted. All new hardware installed and torqued as directed. I have towed a few new trailers in the last month up to 16,000 lbs and I like it. My original hitch was only rated for 10,000 lbs and a friends F-350 hitch is only rated for 6,000 lbs. I have a feeling you will be selling another hitch soon. I have peace of mind that my equipment will handle anything I tow. 663039

The Curt 20,000 pound commercially rated receiver is is built like a battleship! And while it was difficult to man handle alone, I was able to install it using the eight supplied bolts in about 20 minutes. The fit was positively perfect, so someone at Curt did their homework on the design. The only complaint I have is that unlike my Reese Hitch, it did not include the 2" reducer sleeve. A lousy $15 difference! Don't be cheap, for this kind of money it should be included. Now I get to pay $25 in shipping for a $15 part. 639602

What a great product from a great company. I was met with great customer service from the start to unboxing what felt like something that should be part of an armored vehicle, this company is a class act. Installation was literally 30 mins. Could not be happier. I just happened to purchase this hitch while it was on sale as well. Just another bonus from the deal. My order got messed up but the company called me to let me know and said they were going to ship the product rush deliver for free which they did. Awesome Awesome. 613981

Curt receivers are great quality, plus etrailer had my order shipped the same day and was delivered the next day! One lesson learned for me was this particular hitch (15810) does not fit with the spare tire on a 2008 F-250. Thanks again for a great product and extremely fast shipping and customer service! I definitely recommend using etrailer over large box stores. 403192

You are absolutely correct, Joshua. Spare tires larger than 20 inches will not be able to be stored in the original location underneath the vehicle.

Ordered Thursday evening just before Memorial Day weekend, and arrived Tuesday afternoon. Was shipped out very quickly with update emails through the entire process! Although the box was a bit torn up from shipping the hitch was still in great shape with all hardware and the wiring for another vehicle I ordered, in the box. Hitch is amazing quality, VERY heavy duty, and bolted right into place! I did have to forgo the nice factory wiring/plug mount and zip tie them into place, but other than that it was a perfect bolt on affair! Will definitely do business with these folks again 387054

I placed my order on a Saturday afternoon with etrailer.com and within an hour received the order confirmation and tracking information for my order from George J. Very impressive and unexpected! I received the hitch and accessories in separate boxes the following Tuesday. The hitch due to its weight had torn through the outer box which had opened and sustained a couple small scratches and was worried that the mounting hardware had been lost in shipment. The hardware, bolts & nuts, ect. were securely taped to the hitch along with the easy to follow installation instructions in tact. In less than 30 minutes the hitch was installed without help as I tied a rope around the hitch to the bumper where the hitch mounting brackets would swing in position to slide a bolt though and secure the nut with one hand easily. Took longer to lower the spare tire to get it out of the way and as others have commented removing the old hitch bolts that had rusted in place. You will not be disappointed with this hitch or the service after the sale from etrailer.com! 232505

Installed on 1999 F350 superduty. Hitch is massive, really love it. It took about 1-1/2 hours to cut the old hitch bolts off and 15 minutes to put the new hitch on. All hardware included. • How to Pick Out Weigh Safe Adjustable Ball Mount for 2-1/2 inch Hitch for Ground Clearance
  • When we installed the Curt hitch # C15810 on a similar 2007 Ford F-250 to your 2006 Ford F-350 we found that from the top of the hitch opening down to the ground measured 20 inches. The Weigh Safe Ball Mount part # WS10-25 is a great ball mount but it would hang down 13 inches from the top of your hitch opening putting it about 7 inches off the ground. A better option for ground clearance would be the same ball mount but with less drop part # WS6-25 as this would sit 4 inch taller....
