2016 Jeep Cherokee
2018 Jeep Cherokee hitch. Installed the hitch finally, singlehanded. Attached photo is setup used to balance hitch on floor jack slide under vehicle and lift into position without second person. 2x4 is 34 inches long and secured with tiewraps to hitch and tube brace. 2016 video was better for my instance. 486225

The hitch fit the frame fine. The problem I had was with the chrome exhaust tips. I removed them otherwise you can't drop the exhaust properly. After installing the hitch with no problems I could not reinstall the chrome tips they contacted the corner of the hitch. I used a 4" cutoff wheel and cut the inside corner of the chrome tips in order to reinstall. I own a 2016 latitude so maybe the 2014,2015's are different? I didn't have to hack anything and no one will ever see what I cut. This would not be easy for the average person. 254748

I installed C13172 Curt hitch on my 2014Jeep Cherokee Latitude. Installation was straight forward and took about an hour. The tail pipes are within 1/8 of an inch of the bottom corner of the hitch. When I hit bumps the pipe would knock on the hitch. I rounded the corner with a cutoff wheel and fixed the issue. Curt should leave a little more cleareance by rounding the lower corner. 128906

We've sent an email to Keith to let him know about your question, but in the meantime, we have an article with a few tips. The good news is since the rattle is intermittent, you won't have to make much of an adjustment to get it to stop, but it may be more difficult to track down. If you can get underneath and move the exhaust system by hand, you should be able to find where it makes contact.

I have dual exhaust on my Latitude and the frame of the hitch has sharp corners on the bottom, close to where it is welded to the tube. You have to lower the exhaust again and take a grinder or cutoff wheel and remove about a 1/16 of an inch from that corner and the pipes will not hit. When under the Jeep shake the exhaust and you can see it hit.

Did you have the cut out on the lower edge of the plastic bumper? Or did you have to cut a rectangle out of the plastic. My latitude doesnt have the cut out for the hitch to sit up higher.

Easy to follow directions. Had everything I needed to install. I did have one issue not with the product itself, but the front screws were not lining up to pull through hitch as it was a really tight fit. But I got out my floor jack to push the hitch into a better place and it all went smooth from there. 939103

This hitch is outstanding. I was debating purchasing the C13171 over the C13172. Glad I went with the C13172. The idea of cutting my bumper was a great concern to me but I am glad that I did. Installation was difficult by myself but the videos on etrailer.com walked me through it. It is a much cleaner look to the Jeep and I did not want to loose any clearance due to the incline on my driveway. This hitch is well built and thicker than the frame on my Jeep. I have no idea how they can build and ship this hitch for the price they charge. Powder coat was perfect and even though the box was damaged and open up arrival; All parts were taped to the hitch so no problems. Entire install took me 2.5 hours. Had to strap the hitch to my jack to get into place. I strongly advise you to have a friend help you with the install. By the way, this is one of the few products that I have ever left a 5 star review. Thank you etrailer. 927639

This hitch is excellent for the money. Instructions could have been more specific but it’s easy enough to figure it out. Was a tight fit but turned out really good. Need to trim the rear bumper and bumper fascia support to clear the hitch. Also I had to trim both exhaust tips a bit (v6). You can’t see any of the exhaust tip trimming so not really an issue. 883140

This is my 3rd Curt Hitch. I installed em for friends. Before you order, make sure you include the trim. This hitch went on a Jeep Cherokee..trim: Trailhawk. It took a bit to get a verification that this will fit, but i found it. The rear lower fascia needs to be trimed. I went with their instructions but i found i needed to custom trim so it didnt have a gigantic hole. Its not bad. The turn signal kit worked great but there are two different kinds. It all worked out and its ready to haul. 869998
