Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Infiniti QX60 - Curt

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Infiniti QX60, we're gonna be installing Curt's Class 3 two inch trailer hitch receiver, part number C13126.Now this is what our hitch is gonna look like when it's installed. As you can see, the cross tube's completely hidden so you're only gonna be able to see the receiver here at the end. It's gonna be a class 3, 2 inch x 2 inch receiver that's gonna be great for all of your towing needs, from trailers to bike racks, this'll do it all.It features plate style safety chain loops. Now it does have kind of a smaller opening, so you might have some difficulty with larger safety chains, but this one here's fairly large and it works just fine.It uses a 5/8 inch hitch pin and clip. One does not come included but you can pick one up here at etrailer.com. It features a 600 pound tongue weight and that's the force going down on top the receiver and a 4000 pound gross towing capacity.

That's how much it can pull behind it. It you opt to use a weight distribution system with it, the tongue weight's gonna remain the same, but the gross towing capacity's gonna increase to 5000 pounds. Now you do want to verify that your vehicle's capable of those towing capacities inside your owner's manual. And now if you're comparing this to others on our website, such as the one from Draw-Tite, this one's gonna have a much sleeker look. It's gonna be completely hidden behind the bumper and all you're gonna see is your receiver here. The only drawback to this Curt over the Draw-Tite is that it does have significantly less towing capacities. Now let's get some measurements for you to help you when deciding on accessories.

From the ground to the top inside edge of the receiving tube, it's gonna measure about 14 inches. This is important when deciding if you need to drop or rise with your accessory. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the rear bumper, it's gonna measure about 6 inches. This is important to determine if any of your folding accessories can be placed in the upright position without contacting the bumper. Before you begin your installation, you're gonna wanna lower your spare tire. You'll find the nut that you'll need to turn to lower the spare tire right inside your opening panel in your back hatch.

Just twist this cover and remove it to access it. If you need further assistance removing your spare tire, refer to your owner's manual. We'll begin our installation under the vehicle on the driver's side by removing the toe hook. Use an 18 millimeter socket to remove both bolts. And you'll remove the two bolts located on the side. You'll use the same socket to remove the bolt from the side as well.

After you get your last bolt out, we'll set this aside as we're not going to be reinstalling it.Now we'll use some spray lubricant. We'll spray out our holes and we're gonna clean 'em out with a wire brush. You can pick one of these up here at etrailer.com. This will make installing our hardware easier. We'll do the same thing on the other side. Now we'll remove the fascia brackets. We are gonna be reinstalling them after we get our hitch up. Use a flat plated screwdriver to remove the pin located at the bottom. You'll pop that out. You can also use a trim panel or remover tool to remove this as well. Once you've popped out the center, it just pulls out. It needs a 12 millimeter socket to remove this bracket. We'll do the same thing on the other side. We've now marked out an area on our bumper where we're gonna need to trim so our hitch will fit properly. Consult your instructions for further detailed measurements of where you need to cut. We use our cut off wheel now and we'll cut this out. You can take a razor blade or a file to clean up the edges just to make it look a little bit neater. You want to prepare your hardware before you get it in place. You'll take one of the bolts and put one of the conical tooth washers with the teeth facing away from the head so it'll go towards your hitch. And now with an extra set of hands, we'll lift our hitch into position. We'll tuck the cross tube behind the bumper. Once you get one bolt started on each side, the hitch will hold itself up making it easier to install the rest of your hardware. Now tighten all of your hardware down using a 19 millimeter socket and torque all of your hardware to the specifications in your instructions. And now you can reinstall both your bumper brackets, and now reinstall your spare tire. And that completes our installation of Curt's Class 3 two inch trailer hitch receiver on our 2017 Infiniti QX60.

2015 Nissan Pathfinder

finally had an opportunity today to try and install my hitch and the hardware that was included is too big for the pre-drilled holes in my 2015 Nissan Pathfinder. I was wondering if there was another installation package with smaller bolts that could be sent to me. 608012

Comments
The hitch should have been delivered with M12-1.25 x 30mm bolts. In my 12 years here, only on one occasion have I seen where the wrong bolts were sent out with a hitch. Whats much more likely is that the nuts that are welded into the frame of your vehicle have accumulated 4 years worth of road gunk and corrosion and this build-up is whats preventing you from getting the bolts started. I would recommend using a digital caliper to measure the bolts you received, if they arent 12mm bolts, please let us know. If they are, youll just need to clean the threads of those nuts up in the frame. The way youll do this will depend on how badly corroded they are. You can start by spraying a good amount of WD40 in each one. Then, scrub them with a wire brush. I like to use the brush from a battery terminal cleaner like part # DW00254
Battery Post and Terminal Cleaner - Wire Brush
$3.24
. You might need to hit each one more than once. If this fails to do the trick, use a tread tap like part # PTW8662
12 mm x 1.25 Tap and Drill Bit
$7.25
.

2014 Nissan Pathfinder

I ordered this trailer hitch for my 2014 Nissan Pathfinder… I watched the video that etrailer.com made, and decided it looked like a project I could try to do myself. I am not a mechanic, but I am decently handy with tools. I placed my order knowing that I needed the hitch to arrive the next week so that I could do the installation when I had some time off from work. The day after I placed the order I got a very pleasant phone message and email from a girl named Carla from etrailer.com. She told me that One of the products that I ordered was not in stock. She told me I had three options. One option was to wait two weeks until the backordered product was available, another option was to split my orders shipping apart but pay extra for that, or a third option was to buy a different Hitch ball assembly that Carla had found to be almost the same, but in stock. This was one of the best online shopping experiences I have had, because of the personal touch from the cute girl with the southern accent that called me to talk about the options that were available due to a problem with my order. I love the fact that she was so personal, relatable, and not automated. I love the fact that she gave me three great options instead of just some lousy automated response that would tell me I'm shafted. I love the fact that the girl who called me was pleasant, kind, and located in the company, in the state, in the country, where I was buying the product. She was so helpful. She left a voicemail for me, she called me again, and she emailed me to be sure I got the message. This is what I call great service. This experience of service is what will make me want to buy from this etrailer.com again!!! The hitch arrived in good condition, although the box was broken and the large metal sides of the hitch were protruding through the box by about 6 inches. Nevertheless, the product was not damaged at all. All the other products were also in the large box, in a smaller box. I was able to follow the instructions on the instructional video that was provided, and I was able to put the hitch on my pathfinder by myself! This took a little bit of ingenuity, because I don't have a lift and I was alone. So I had to prop up the heavy-metal hitch assembly on some crates and shimmy it up with some planks of wood to just the right height so that I could boat in the other side. It worked! This particular hitch seems perfectly designed, and fit perfectly on the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder that I have. I am extremely satisfied. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase from a trailer.com 189264

Ended up having to trim a little more off the bumper fascia than the instructions stated, but other than that it was a perfect fit and easy to install. Looks as good as factory install in my opinion and for a fraction of the price. 480536

Overall the product is fine and works as advertised. If I were to complain about anything it would be the fit of the Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches Item # 989900. The 2" square portion has a lot of play in it and when a trailer is hauled empty it bangs around a lot. Making a loud noise. Also the ball is already rusting. 604928

Comments
Manufactured items are constructed to a certain tolerance, they will vary a few fractions of an inch in size. If the receiver hitch is toward the large end of tolerance and the ball mount shank is to the small end, theres going to be a lot of movement between the two which is unfortunately unavoidable. Using an anti-rattle device like # RM-061
Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2" Trailer Hitches
$26.95
will pull the shank of the ball mount tight up against the side of the receiver tube to prevent movement.

Ok so I was nervous to buy this and install it myself but I have access to a garage with power tools so I thought I'd roll the dice and see if I could it on a 2014 pathfinder. Etrailer.com makes this so dummy proof it's ridiculous. So glad they had videos and could virtually hold my hand through this. Installation was flawless. Took a couple hours but that's because the holes for my bolts were rusted over and needed to be scrubbed ALOT. I would highly recommend getting the wire brush they offer and some type of cleaning solution. Obviously air powered tools make a huge difference because my bolts where stuck but all the parts etrailer.com provided was great. Highly recommend this website!! 282722

I was looking for a hitch that would protrude as little as possible and be easy to install. Thanks to the etrailer's review and installation videos I chose exactly the right hitch to meet my criteria. Everything but the Curt receiver is tucked up under the bumper, and the step-by-step installation video gave me the confidence and tips to make the job very easy. My order was shipped promptly, delivered fast, and is now installed. I like to support companies that go the full measure - so etrailer.com has my full endorsement. 402555

2019 Infiniti QX60

Finally got around to mounting the hitch to my Infiniti QX60. Was unable to remount the fascia trim brackets that had to be removed for installation because once the hitch bolts were tightened down, the central hitch part actually presses upwards into the fascia trim and warps the natural flow of the fascia trim a bit ( I did indeed make the cuts to the fascia per the directions). Not a big deal as the pressure stiffens the fascia trim and there is no fluttering. However, I will get a couple pieces of aluminum and make some new brackets to remove any possibility of movement. The attached photo shows the hitch pressing the fascia up a bit and the outer edges of the fascia being pushed down. If that upward pressure was not there, I would have given this hitch 5 stars. 736920

Great service, shipping, and product. I installed this hitch on a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder and everything lined up just right. The installation videos they have were spot on. The job would have only taken me a few minutes to complete, but the bolt holes on the bottom of the Pathfinder were full of rust and dirt. If you're installing on a used vehicle be prepared will a lot of lubricants and possibly even a thread chaser. 580979

  • Should Additional Transmission Cooler be Used When Towing at Max Capacity with 2014 Pathfinder
If you are planning on maxing out the 5,000 lb towing capacity of your 2014 Nissan Pathfinder then yes, it would be wise to install a supplemental transmission cooler like the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13502. Since you will really be pushing your transmission to its limits this additional cooler will help to reduce some of the heat stress, but towing at max capacity will still be pretty rough on your vehicle. I also recommend using the Equal-i-zer Weight...

Definitely - to install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13126 on your 2020 Infiniti QX60 you only have to trim a small portion of your vehicle's fascia, just a 2-1/2" x 1-3/8" section. This is going to be underneath your Infiniti so it won't be noticeable at all and doing this will allow the hitch receiver to sit up flush against your Infiniti's bumper, giving it a clean look. I have added a link to a video install as well as the installation instructions for you to check out of the...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2014 Infiniti QX60 for Thule T2 Classic Bike Rack
The differences between vehicles are great enough there isn't a one single hitch that would fit all of them. That is why we sell custom fit hitches for so many different vehicles. For your 2014 Infiniti QX60 we have the Curt part # C13126 which is a confirmed fit which would work great with the T2 Classic # TH9044. This is a great bike rack that I recommend a lot for people because of how versatile and easy to use it is. Here are all of the different vehicles this hitch would fit: 2013...

  • Will a Trailer Hitch Fit a 2018 Infiniti QX60 with Backup Sensors
I reached out to Curt, who makes the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13126 for your 2018 Infiniti QX60 (excluding Hybrid) and they informed me that the hands free liftgate feature will still work but you will need to position your foot on either side of the receiver tube. They did not mentioned any kicking motion. I don't believe the surround sensors, backup sensors, or pre collision avoidance features will be hampered by the hitch but the pre collision avoidance has not been tested....

  • Installing Trailer Connector on 2013 Nissan Pathfinder
According to my research, the 2013 Pathfinder should already have a 7-way trailer connector at the rear. If not, look under the vehicle for the trailer wiring. There should be a wire harness with a US car connector on the end, like what's shown in the provided photo. The connector will probably have a protective cap on the end. The harness you found would plug into the trailer connector, part # HM40975. The connector is not a vehicle-specific item, so you'll need to devise a way of...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Infiniti QX60 for Bike Rack
The only hitch we offer currently (March 2016) for your 2015 Infiniti QX60 is the Curt part # C13126. This will work great with your bike rack once installed so I would recommend it for you. This hitch will require some minor fascia trimming though. It would only be visible from underneath the vehicle though. For more info on the install check out the install instructions link I attached. I also attached an install video.

  • Does Trailer Hitch Hardware Have to be Torqued to the Specifications in the Instructions
The hitch is rated for its given capacity when installed according to the installation instructions and that includes the torque ratings specified in the instructions. If they are too tight you can damage the hitch and vehicle frame. Not tight enough and the hitch could come loose. If you do not have a torque wrench many auto parts stores will loan out tools. I recommend calling around to a few places to see if they have a tool loan program so you can torque down the hitch hardware...

  • Does Towing Capacity of a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder Increase if Hitch is Rated Higher than Vehicle
In the answer you referenced the Expert is referring to the capacities of the hitches only. The towing capacity of your 2013 Nissan Pathfinder will not increase with a hitch installed. The vehicle capacity is whatever is stated in the vehicle owner's manual. You will always go by the lowest rated component in the system. So, for example, if the vehicle is rated for 5,000 pounds and the hitch # 76031 is rated for 6,000 pounds you are still limited to 5,000 pounds even though the hitch is...

  • Hitch Lock/Anti-Rattle Device Recommendation for Hitch Cover 2016 Nissan Pathfinder
We have anti-rattle hitch locks like the part # 63232 which are a great fit for hollow, 2-inch hitch accessories like what you'd have most likely on your 2016 Nissan Pathfinder. But it really depends on the hitch cover you have. Some have shanks that an anti-rattle device would work great with and others use wire which wouldn't work with a kit like this.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2013 Infiniti JX35 for Towing Sea Doo Trailer
For your 2013 Inifiniti JX35 the Curt hitch part # C13126 is what I would recommend. Like you said it's much more hidden so it's easier on the eyes. It's also priced a little better as well and has more than enough capacity for your Sea Doo and trailer. For trailer wiring I prefer the Tekonsha kits as they are more reliable than the Curt's. So for that the # 119190KIT would be what you need. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well on a vehicle just like yours...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations for a 2016 Honda Odyssey
Curt trailer hitch # C13126 does not fit the 2016 Honda Odyssey but there are numerous other hitches that do, see link. The comparable Curt hitch for the 2016 Odyssey is # C13068 and I have linked a video showing how it installs and what it will look like on the 2016 model. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop, interchangeable ball set, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. If...
