This was a very well made trailer hitch and worked perfectly for our needs to haul a small trailer for a long distance, but it was difficult for us to install. We did have to take it to a pro to install for us. 720482

2015 Toyota Sienna

-The Curt C13105 hitch arrived quickly and fit well. The 2015 Sienna LE AWD has a long DROPPED RIDGE in the plastic underbody guard. The dropped ridge runs parallel to the (round) hitch crossbar nearly it's entire length. -The measurements given to trim the driver's side for the hitch plate were perfect. There was mention of "some models need additional trimming" (and a photo that I did not find useful) - the 2015 Sienna tray needed additional trimming. -So, I mounted the hitch and let it "pivot" from the front-most bolt on each side (leaving the rear 2 out). A floor jack is handy, as recommended when doing this solo. I used the jack to lift the rack up against the underbody guard and trace where to trim. It was easy to trim just around the receiver tube and gusset plate. The cross-bar traps and "sandwiches" underbody guard nicely if you do not cut out the whole dropped ridge. I chose to do this, and it's snug and secure with only slight distortion of the guard, and I believe trimming out the whole ridge would leave floppy, unsupported edges. It is important to secure the guard with it's fasteners first before using the floor jack to "squeeze" the rack up into it's final location and assembling the final rear bolts. Oh, and the CURT box makes a great, clean, slightly cushioned surface for laying on if you're doing this at home in the garage. Much better than a mechanic's creeper for a task like this. Also, I took a few minutes to chase the Sienna weld-nuts with a M12x1.25 tap. The bolts were then easy to start by hand. 234718

I bought the Curt for the Sienna because of the great factory finished. It is a great finish. Perfect fit. etrailer video helped to be prepared. Took about an hour by myself. I do not have the plastic cover. I used blocks on side opposite muffler and lifted muffler side up and screwed bolts and then the other side. It is close to the ground at 11 3/4" to top of receiver. But again was prepared for this from the etrailer video. I want the hitch for a 4 bike rack. Thanks, etrailer - Great Job 762084

True bolt on for a 2010 Toyota Sienna. The only issue I encountered was that the driver side threading was really dirty and needed to be blasted with some PB blaster and wire brush cleaned. But that doesn't really have to do with the hitch itself. The passenger side must have been cleaner because the exhaust covered up that side a little bit. Once everything was cleaned, the bolts were torqued to 79 lb/ft and I was good to go. Thanks! 90793

The hitch came on time and was easy to install. It took 45 minutes to install on our Sienna. Tomorrow we will load the whole family and both my bikes up for a week in the mountains. I am also looking forward to being able to take all 5 of us to my races now. With the bikes and triathlon gear in the van things could get a bit tight. With the hitch on the van and the bikes outside everyone will be more comfortable. 669907

Hitch is great and the video is a great tool for installing. I'm not mechanical so without the video I would have been stuck. A few items of advice for installers: 1. Make sure you have an extension for your ratchet like the video shows. I didn't have that and it made it difficult around the exhaust. The video that is on the Curt webside recommends moving the exhaust out of the way for the install. If you don't have an extended ratchet, that is what I'd do (if you have the tool to do that). We made it work, but I needed to use my wife's smaller hands to get the bolts started on that side. 2. The instructions says that you don't need to raise the vehicle. I didn't raise ours, but in retrospect, I would have raised it up or at least put a jack under it so I could lay on a roller or something. I'm an accountant so manual labor laying on concrete makes me sore - and it gets pretty tight under there :) 3. Our van was very dirty underneath so I got a lot of dirt in my eyes when taking off the plastic cover - might be worth wearing some glasses when you do it. 4. my only complaint is that the hitch is a little lower to the ground than I'd like - I think it will be grounding out on some driveways. that really isn't the hitch's fault though - it is fitting pretty snug underneath the van, but the van just sits pretty low to start with. I have a picture of my 5 year old helping me - yes, he is still alive under the van. I didn't intend to attach that but can't figure out how to remove :) 406084

2012 Sienna LE FWD. Watch the 2011 installation video before you start. This 13105 hitch tucks in even prettier than I expected, and now my brother is jealous. Note I made the cutout in the underbody panel narrower, starting 1.75 inches from the hole (see photo), for a closer fit, and there is still room for torque wrench. I also cut a slit out to the front edge, so I could slip it on with the hitch in place, and for better access to my air hoses inside the left fender. I decided to add Airlift after reading reviews, since on trips I carry a maximum load. Installed single-handed, raised on jack stands. 29277

Hi Mike,I was ready to purchase a 2014 Sienna until I found out Toyota would not put a hitch on this vehicle because of low ground clearance. I will be carrying heavy loads and have heard you bottom out on the hitch when going into parking lots etc. At times when the van is fully loaded I will also have a travel trailer attached which adds 400 lbs. to the tongue weight. Even with this hitch it may not be the right van for my needs. Do you have experience that can help me?Can you tell me what type of Airlift assist you put on and if you ever have trouble bottoming out on your hitch. How does the Airlift affect the ride both when heavily loaded and empty?Thank you for your time and have a great Labor Day weekend.

Very happy with the hitch and the ease of installation onto my 2013 sienna. I don't have a lift, but our driveway has a small dropoff at the end, so backing it within a few feet of the end gave me a couple more feet of clearance to work with. Even then, it was pretty cramped and maneuvering the 40lb hitch into place did require some patience. Overall it probably took me closer to 2 hours total, but everything basically went exactly as the instructions and the video showed. I used tin snips instead of a rotary tool to cut the plastic undercoating, and that produced just as nice of an edge. I also needed to get a 10" extension for my socket wrench (which I think the instructions do say you need) to get at some of the nuts. I didn't have a torque wrench, so "get a torque wrench and properly retighten all the nuts" is on my "someday" list of things to do. The mounted hitch doesn't interfere with anything during normal city driving (my wife hasn't complained about it on her daily commute getting the kids to and from school) Mounted a "Thule Apex Swing 4 Bike Hitch Rack" onto it, drove some bikes up to camp and back, everything held up just fine. Even with the rack loaded and swung out to the side, which should put quite a bit of torque on the hitch joint, the hitch never seemed to be under strain. I have to say that the etrailer videos showing how to mount it basically sold me. Very smart on their part! 82623

Hello Nathan,Your paragraph on the install was just great. What are you towing with your Sienna?I have just started to investigate what I could buy for a trailer to sleep in. All of the in-formation I am starting with is somewhat confusing. My van is an 11 four cylinder Sienna and the tong weight is not up to high for what I want to buy. So interested if you camp. My first wife died and now I started up again at 70 with a new wife who is much younger and we like to travel. Every thing is so expensive that if we bought a trailer, it would be great with two older dogs to 10-8 on the road.Fritz F.

We have sent an email to Nathan about your question. Remember to make sure whatever you pull falls within the capacities of the hitch and vehicle. With the 4 cylinder in particular, you will probably need to look for very light weight setups like a tear drop or pop-up.

Hi Fritz - it sounds like you have quite an adventure ahead of you! Unfortunately, I dont have much advice to offer. We just used the hitch to carry a bike rack - we never used it to tow anything. I did see some folks with minivans towing pop-ups and they seemed to be doing ok, although our New England roads tend to be pretty flat so I dont know how their engines would do on more mountainous terrain. Just do whatever Patrick says, and good luck!

Shipped extremely fast after ordering. Delivered quickly by UPS. The box was very well stapled together. The box looked like UPS gave it the bottom of the truck treatment but the hitch was perfect condition and all parts included. I installed it myself on a 2014 Toyota Sienna minivan using the included instructions and watching the videos on the site. The installations was identical to the video on the site. I highly recommend using two people to hold the hitch or a jack stand and a floor jack. I did not have those and used a stack of 2x4's to get the hitch balanced in place. I used the torque wrench to get the bolts tightened to instructions. The video install of the identical vehicle is why I purchased from etrailer. There is a little over 9 inches of clearance from the bottom of the hitch opening. I will be using a 5 bike rack (Draft Master) this summer on vacation with this hitch. Another tip is to wash the under body before working on it as to lessen the dirt around the working area. 212066

If I had known how easy it was going to be to install this hitch I would have done it years ago! Instructions and videos were amazingly helpful. The fit was perfect! I did have some rust on the threaded holes under the van and ended up buying a Chasing Tap to clean up the threads. Hitch has been great. Mostly we use it to mount a bike rack and it is very sturdy. It occasionally hits the pavement when going up a steep driveway, but less than I expected, since it is quite close to the bumper. I am so glad I installed the Hitch, I have been recommending this product to others 855098

Installation wasn't the hardest by any means. But the reviewers saying it's a quick and painless job might be exaggerating. Is installation complicated? No, but is installation "easy"? I wouldn't go that far. Any time you need to cut away portions of the undercarriage guard and maneuver around the exhaust while laying on your back, it's gonna take an extra few minutes. I do most basic repairs on my vehicles, but even with putting the van up on ramps, using jackstands and another person to hold the hitch in place while I attached it to the frame, it took closer to 1.5 hours than the 50 minutes listed in the instructions, if you're actually being careful and not just throwing it on there without a care of what you might bang into down there. 851671

  • Recommended Best Trailer Hitch Receiver for Ground Clearance on 2018 Toyota Sienna
There is not a minimum clearance required by law for a trailer hitch, so you simply want to make sure you are able to travel without bottoming out your receiver. For instance, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13105 has a dimension of 12 inches from the inside top of the receiver which means approximately 9 inches from the ground to the bottom edge due to the lower the side brackets. If you are concerned about that ground clearance restriction, then...
