Video Transcript for Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2011 Dodge Challenger

Jake: Hey, guys, it's Jake here with the eTrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at and I'm going to show you how to install this Curt hitch on our 2011 Dodge Challenger. Now, it's not going to be too bad of an install, but it's going to give you that ability, when having a hitch, you're going to have that ability to insert any hitch accessories, ball mounts, or if you have a bike rack or a cargo carrier, for instance, it's going to give you a lot more space to be able to carry your accessories on the back of your vehicle. With this hitch, you're going to have a two inch by two inch hitch receiver, with a nice collar on the outside to give it a nice finished look. It's going to have a black powder-coat finish to help protect against rust and corrosion and give it a nice sleek look. With this hitch, you're going to have a standard 5/8 inch pin hole so you can insert those pins to lock those accessories down. Along with that, you're going to have loops to be able to hook your safety chains in, if you happen to be towing a trailer, or if you have an accessory that has tie-downs.

This hitch is going to have a 350 pound tongue weight capacity and a 3,500 pound gross trailer weight capacity. A couple of measurements for you guys, so you know what you're getting. From the ground to the inside top-edge of the hitch receiver is going to be about nine inches. From the outer most edge of the hitch receiver to the outermost edge of the bumper, it's going to be about seven inches. Now that we've gone over some of those features, let's go ahead and pull it into the garage and show you how we installed this hitch. To start the install, the first thing we're going to do is put a strap underneath our exhaust so that when we drop down our exhaust, the strap is going to hold the main weight.

There and tighten down our strap. To remove our exhaust, you're going to have a bolt on a hanger towards the tip of the exhaust, and also one at the back end of the resonator, so we'll need to remove both of those bolts on both mufflers. We'll do the same for the other side. Next thing we're going to do is spray our exhaust hangers with a little bit of spray lubricant in order to get them off so that we can get a little bit more play out of our exhaust. Here, we have a exhaust hanger tool. It's going to make it really easy to remove this hanger.

Now, if you don't have one of these tools, you can use a pry bar or a large screwdriver. Now, we can lower down our exhaust with our cam buckle strap. Using a cam buckle strap's going to make it a little bit easier to control the rate at which our exhaust drops down. Next thing you're going to do is locate your bolt holes. We have a weld nut here and a weld nut here, so we'll take our fish wire, slide our spacer on first, and then thread on our bolt.

Make sure it's on there good and tight. Now, we can take our fish wire and go up through this access hole to drop it down through that hole there. Our wire came out, grab a hold of it, might need to take your spacer and slide it up in first, so that fits through the hole, With our bolt, might need to take the head and slide it in first. Now, that we have it in there, strap into place, and pull our bolt down. We'll have two more of these that we need to insert on the passenger side. Now, with an extra set of hands, we can go ahead and lift our hitch up into place. Slide those fish wires down through our bolt holes, and lifted into place. Now, we can take our flange nut, place it on our bolts. Now that we've got our nuts inserted on our other two bolts, we can go back to the first bolt we started with, put our conical tooth washer in place. You'll see the teeth need to fit up against your hitch. We'll thread that into place here. Here, we're using a 3/4 inch socket and tighten down our bolts. After you've got everything snugged up, we can go ahead and torque everything down to the specifications and new directions. Now that everything's torqued down, we can go ahead and get our exhaust back up into place and remove our strap.

I am 68 years old and get around in a wheel chair...after jacking up my newly acquired 2013 Chrysler 300C SRT8, I single handily removed the stock exhaust system as I was replacing it with an aftermarket performance setup...now was the opportune time to install the trailer hitch receiver with nothing in the way...the instruction were spot on...everything was included...3 bolts and washers threaded right in...3 plates and bolts fished in, and then were tightened down with nut/washer assemblies...total job lying on a creeper using impact tools was 35 minutes by myself...now I am just waiting for the small trailer to arrive that will carry my 3-wheel scooter with a tongue weight of 18 lbs. instead of using a Harmar lift attached to the rear of my car and forcing the rear to sag big time...I am over joyed!!! 238252

I bought the hitch and wiring kit for a 2014 Chrysler 300, I must say the install video made it look like an easy job and in fact it was. The install took me about 2 hrs. from the time I put the car on the lift till it was back on its wheels and that includes installing the wiring harness. The fit and finish was superb, everything mated up perfectly, no need to tweak or pry on anything to get it to fit. All welds were smooth and straight. Nice to have and install such a high grade, heavy duty product. I also bought the C56145 custom wiring kit, it is a must have item for Chryslers due to their load specific wiring. The dealer wanted $600 for the hitch and wiring kit + $ to install. I saved a lot by doing it myself. A big thanks to "etrailer.com" for handling such fine products and the free shipping too. Respectfully, Larry R. 194787

Product looks great and is well built, paint scratched off due to box failing and end of part sticking out of box and scraped. Carrier damage I guess. Otherwise a great experience. Would order again. 413581

Things are great. The car can scrape the receiver sometimes but all else is great. Im probably one of the few that ran a lawn care company off a challenger.

Took about 2 hours to install the fish wire worked amazingly well. Had to remove rear bumper and do exhaust. Rebolting the rear hangers were tricky as the hitch does get in the way. Overall very happy with product. Shipping was very quick the box was damaged but the hitch was not. That is on the carrier such we'r sl know they don't handle packages with the greatest care. 670431

The product looks great! I will be getting a local garage to install it tomorrow. Mieneke wanted $370,00 to install. Yikes! A local garage estimated $100. The shipping container was horrible - not strong enough. The hitch was sticking out of a hole in the box. No damage that I can see. The instructions do not list the Challenger as a vehicle the hitch will fit. Knowing the Charger and 300 have the same chassis as the Challenger I remain optimistic. Hope I don't need to revise this feedback. 577451

With my 2 sons installation went well. We've used the hitch up hold our bike rack as well as a small metal shelf top transport items such as ice chests and suit cases. I have to be careful over speed bumps or it will hit. This hitch has come in very handy. 462813

2014 Dodge Charger

The hitch is great, install was pretty easy except for getting the muffler that you don't take down out of the way. Only negative is that the receiver sits too low. Would have rather needed to cut the valance so the receiver sits higher. It tends to scrape on dips and if the car is loaded, its going to scrape period. I haven't found anything to raise the rear of the car some without spending a ton of money. Still looking though. 436492

The actual hitch is great! Very solid, relatively low profile, and doesn't distract from the aesthetics of the car. I do have a minor issue with some higher speed bumps grazing the bottom of the hitch if I take them too fast. Also, unless you're a trained or extremely proficient mechanic, I'd get this hitch installed by a professional. It's a rather complex and daunting task on this particular vehicle. I paid a local muffler shop to put it on and it turned out they had just fitted the same hitch to another 300 a few days before, so I had confidence they would do it right. 396426

Whenever you will be adding extra weight from a trailer or hitch mounted accessory it is always important to refer to your owner's manual to ensure that you are not exceeding the weight capacity. • Class III 2 Inch Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver to Fit a 2016 Chrysler 300C
We actually have two Class III, 2 inch trailer hitch receivers from Curt that fit the 2016 Chrysler 300C. Curt # C13236 and # C13093 will work for you. The Curt, part # C13093, sits a lttle lower, the same measurement is about 10 inches. I've attached pictures, as well as an install video for each hitch.
