2012 Subaru Forester

I believe this is the fourth hitch I have ordered from etrailer.com. All have been very well engineered and carefully produced to fit the vehicles I ordered them for. The first was our 2004 Subaru Forester and I learned a lot from that installation. The install videos were great. The next was for my 2007 Dodge crew cab 4X4 and it was a little easier because of the higher ground clearance. I installed another on our 2012 Forester after we traded and it went in very quickly. The last was about a year ago when I installed a hitch on my '94 Chevy Van project vehicle. I'm currently 72 years old and if I can do these installs I think anyone can. I always order the recommended wiring kit for each vehicle and they have always worked perfectly. 772739

Trailer hitch has been performing as prescribed so far. Instructions were somewhat confusing for installation. I'd have to see how often the bolts have to be tighten to determine the real quality of the product. 693072

Great hitch! Easy to install. The 3 piece construction makes it no problem for a 1 chicken install. Minor damage to the box in shipping but the hitch was spotless. Hardware also packed well so it did not come loose in shipping. 456971

I found this site extremely useful looking for an older model application which most companies didn't even stock. they did in not only this rating but many of the other popular applications (I chose 600lb tongue weight) Hitch arrived fast (I was surprised to see it sitting on days) my front porch within days and when unpacked it was in perfect shape, all the hardware inclosed and not even a scratch on it. It is still a little cold out for me to install it so I'll update with pictures in a few weeks. Thanks George, now I can get my sailboat out of storage and bring it home for prep to launch this spring. Flying Dutchman Warren, MI 349725

Well built ,easy to install fast shipping for a good price I would recommend this to anyone who wants a durable quality American made hitch. Used it for a year now and holding up like new and the paint coating resists rust and salt from Wisconsin winters. 308043

This hitch was just hat I needed. It has three separate parts each installed individually. Being 74 years old the thought of lifting a one piece hitch laying on my back in the grass was not an agreeable prospect. It went together without a problem. This company delivered it very quickly professionally packaged. 224344

Ask the Experts about this Curt Trailer Hitch

  • Trailer Hitch Fit on 2004 Chevrolet Astro Van with Full-Size Spare Tire
The Curt Class III hitch # C13035 will very likely have interference with a full-size spare, but we do offer both 1-1/4-inch Class II and other 2-inch Class III hitches that do not have this fit issue. The included link will show you three choices in a 1-1/4-inch Class II hitch. If you prefer a 2-inch Class III that does NOT cause spare tire interference you can use Draw-Tite # 75122. An install video on an Astro van is linked for reference.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2000 Chevrolet Astro Van with a Standard Wheel Base
We have several trailer hitches that are considered a fit for your 2000 Chevrolet Astro Van. For this vehicle I would recommend a Class III trailer hitch to allow for greater diversity for hitch mounted accessories. The Curt # C13035 that you referenced is a great option, and is more economical for the Class III options. This hitch is rated for towing up to 4000 pounds and up to 400 pounds of tongue weight. Please note that if you have a full size spare tire this may interfere with...

  • Parts Needed to Tow 5,000 lbs with a 2001 Chevy Astro Van
If you use a weight distribution system with your 2001 Chevy Astro Van we have products that would tow 5,000 lbs with it. First for a hitch you would need the part # C13035. The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check...

  • Measuring to Find Ball Mount with Right Amount of Rise to Tow Trailer Level with 2000 Chevy Astro
You just need a ball mount with the proper amount of rise to tow the trailer level. There are ball mounts with all different rises and drops available. I have included a link that explains how to measure for rise/drop. Then it is just a matter of looking through our selections of ball mounts, see link, to get one with the closest amount of rise needed. There are a couple of other things to consider such as the receiver opening size on the hitch. The hitches available for your 2000...

  • Will CURT Trailer Hitch # 13035 Fit a 1989 Chevy Astro Regular Wheelbase Model
According to CURT, Trailer Hitch, # C13035, will fit all models of the 1989 Chevy Astro van. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. If you plan on ding some towing, I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit, # 989900, which comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a pin with clip, and a carrying bag. For trailer wiring, use 4-Pole Hardwire Kit, # 18252. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation.

  • Availability of Replacement Trailer Hitch Mounting Flanges for Rusted Hitch
Most of the trailer hitches offered for your 1998 Chevrolet Astro Van, which can be seen on the link provided, feature one-piece welded construction. One exception is the Curt # C13035, which has bolted-on mounting flanges. The two mounting flanges on these are not offered as replacement parts. My contact at Curt confirmed this for me. We offer both 1-1/4-inch Class II and 2-inch Class III hitches for your Astro Van and the link provided will allow you to select a new one. The linked...

  • What Class Hitch to Install on 1999 GMC Safari to Pull 4 x 7 Utility Trailer
Since there is a small cost difference between a 1-1/4-inch Class II and 2-inch Class III hitch, I suggest you go for the higher capacity Class III hitch from Curt, part # C13035. A 2-inch Class III hitch will give you higher capacity (for extra safety margin) plus it will offer broader compatibility with a range of hitch mount accessories. Note that you still need to observe the vehicle's tongue weight capacity, which may be lower than the hitch's. I have linked two helpful articles concerning...

  • Curt Hitch # C13035 Recommendation for a 1998 Chevy Astro Van
The reason there are hitch classifications is to easily differentiate the different towing capacities for various hitches. Generally speaking, the higher the hitch classification the higher the weight capacities will be for that hitch. So a Class IV will be stronger than a Class III which will be stronger than a Class II. I attached an FAQ page on hitch classifications for you to check out also. The Curt Trailer Hitch # C13035 that you referenced is a Class III hitch can handle...

  • Will a CURT Trailer Hitch C13035 Fit a 1994 and 1998 Chevy Astro, Standard Body
The CURT Trailer Hitch, # C13035, fits the 1985 - 1994 Chevrolet Astro Standard Body. It will also fit a 1998 Chevy Astro but if you have a 16 inch spare tire on the vehicle it will have to be relocated in order for the hitch to fit. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. If you plan on doing some towing, I recommend using the etrailer Ball Mount Kit, # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag. For trailer wiring...

  • Trailer Hitch Fit for 1999 Chevy Astro Cargo Van
According to Curt, their # C13035 Class III hitch fits all models of the 1999 Chevy Astro, be it a passenger or a cargo van. If your van has a 16 inch spare tire, you might need to relocate the spare. The Draw-Tite Class III, part # 75122 is compatible with a 16 inch spare, so you might want to go that route instead. Assuming your Astro uses the stock tire size, you'll need a # 2753 ball mount, a # PC3 hitch pin and a # 19261 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch hitch ball. For a trailer...

The Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch Receiver # 90231 that you referenced is essentially the same exact model as the Draw-Tite # 36198. • Everything Needed to Tow a Trailer with Brakes with a 1999 Chevy Astro Van
I was able to (miraculously) find an online version of the owner's manual for your 1999 Chevrolet Astro and found on page 4-32 that the max trailer weight you can tow is between 4,500 lbs and 5,500 lbs depending on your axle ratio and if you have a 2WD or AWD version. I recommend checking out your copy of the owner's manual to verify this. In your research you basically already discovered the difference between the Draw-Tite # 75122 and the Curt # C13035. the Draw-Tite has a lighter...

  • Looking for Trailer Hitch for 1999 Chevy Astro That Doesn't Extend Past Bumper
I'd recommend going with a Class III hitch like the Curt # C13035. A Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver will allow both a higher capacity than a Class II like the # 90231, but will also have a much better selection of hitch mounted accessories available, such a cargo carrying trays or bike racks. A Class III is usually not any more expensive than a Class II, so there's really no reason not to go with the alternative that would allow you more options and flexibility. As you can see...
