2017 Toyota Avalon

Hitch C11427, Installed on 2008 Toyota Avalon, Installed 2017. Hitch Installation time in my garage 5 plus hours. Requirements: Jack up rear end of car so both rear wheels at least 1 inch of ground, Penetrating spray for rusty bolts and potentially rusty bolt holes, angle grinder to remove 2 weld nut/weld nut brackets retaining the old muffler isolator brackets you will no longer need (and are in the way for new hitch) and to smooth out the original weld, pry bar and lubricating spray to pry off muffler isolators, adjustable strap to support and lower exhaust system once you remove all the exhaust isolators, good to have some large diameter washers on hand in the event when bending the muffler shielding you pull through the existing washers. Hitch fits great, is well constructed, sits tight up against bumper (about same height as tail pipes so shouldn't bottom out any worse than today) and sits back behind bumper about 2 inches so no issues with banging chins when walk around the car. Great Product. 456751

Quality is good. Installation was tight. It is recessed just a bit too much under the car and my bike rack cannot attach without modification. An extension/ball for a trailer no problem. I would chose this brand again. 816748

2011 Toyota Avalon

Excellent item. Not to difficult to install if you take your time. I have to do the install by my self and I'm over 60 years old. Therefore, I use a floor jack to support the hitch. Once installed it looks great and not unsightly... Thank you for making a great product. 599828

2006 Toyota Avalon

The trailer hitch for our 2006 Toyota Avalon arrived quickly and was of good quality. Unfortunately, the instructions that came with it were sorely lacking in detail. It said it would take an hour to put on the hitch but took 4 hours and two people to install. A more complete diagram including the underside of the car and what had to be removed in order to install the hitch would have helped. It was difficult to get at to some of the bolts that had to be removed as they were behind or above the muffler. Unless you pay someone who has installed a hitch on this car before, count on it taking quite a long time and lots of skinned knuckles. In its favor, it looks great once we finished. 584504

Ask the Experts about this Curt Trailer Hitch

  • Will CURT Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch # 11427 Be Visible on a 2011 Toyota Avalon
On the CURT Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # 11427, for the 2011 Toyota Avalon, the crossbar is under the bumper but underneath the car. The receiver portion is the most visible part of the hitch you will see. I do not have a picture of the CURT hitch on a 2011 Toyota Avalon, but I am including a link to the instructions on the Draw-Tite Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # 24870. The instructions for the Draw-Tite hitch will show a side view drawing of how the hitch will be located on the...

  • How to Install the Curt Stabilization Strap # 18050 to Carry a Bike Rack on a 2005 Toyota Avalon
The stabilization strap in question is # 18050. I have included a helpful link to another question and answer that contains a video that shows how the stabilization strap should be installed. Only the Curt hitch has this requirement. The Draw-Tite hitch # 24870 does not require the stabilization strap.

  • Does Curt Wiring Harness # 55571 Require Running a Wire to Battery
To install this Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # 55571 on your 2012 Nissan Murano you will not need to run a wire forward to the battery. All the wires you will need to connect will be connected at the rear of your vehicle. This part connects quickly and easily with no cutting or splicing of wires. Check out the installation instructions and the installation video I attached for your reference.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2006 Toyota Avalon
There are some great options for trailer hitches for your 2006 Toyota Avalon. I recommend the Draw-Tite # 24870 over the Curt # C11427 as it has an easier install. To install the Curt hitch, the fascia clips will be need to be temporarily removed. This is not required to install the Draw-Tite hitch. Otherwise, they are both Class I hitches with 1-1/4" receivers, and have 2,000 lb gross trailer weight and 200 lb tongue weight capacity. If you are looking to use your hitch to install a...

  • Why Does Curt Trailer Hitch for 2008 Toyota Avalon have Higher Towing Capacity than Vehicle
The answer to that is our manufacturers design a hitch to fit the vehicle and then do the best they can to make it as strong as possible and rate it independently from the vehicle. This is why we end up with higher rated hitches like the Curt # C11427 than vehicles they fit like your 2008 Toyota Avalon. You will need to to abide by the lowest rated component in the setup as the overall towing capacity which in your case seems to be the vehicle.

  • Will Curt Class I Hitch C11427 Work For Pulling Motorcycle Trailer With 2006 Toyota Avalon
As long as the motorcycle trailer doesn't weigh more than 2000 lbs fully loaded and have a tongue weight greater than 200 lbs, the Curt Class I hitch, part # C11427 would work just fine for a motorcycle trailer. In order to complete your towing setup, you'll need a trailer wiring harness like # 119178KIT, a ball mount like part # C45022 and a # PC2 hitch pin and a 1-7/8 hitch ball like # A-80 or a 2 inch ball like # A-82

  • Availability of 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch Hitch Adapter with Rise
I am not sure what type of clearance you have to work with but we have the MaxxTow hitch adapter part # MT70655 which has 3 inches from the pin hole to the back of the 2 inch hitch opening which could work well assuming that's enough clearance. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Will Thule DoubleTrack Pro Bike Rack Fit a 2012 Toyota Avalon with Curt Trailer Hitch Recevier
I can confirm that the Thule DoubleTrack Pro, part # TH9054, will fit into the Curt hitch receiver you purchased, part # C11427, because the rack fits Class I trailer hitches. However, we haven't had the chance to actually test the two together on an Avalon. I can tell you that there's about 6-1/2 inches from the DoubleTrack Pro's hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack when it's folded down and about 5 inches when folded up. So as long as you have more than that from the hitch...

  • Fit of Yakima Holdup Bike Carrier on 2006 Toyota Avalon With Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 11427
I do not have a measurement of the distance from the hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the bumper for the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver with Drawbar - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4 inch, part # 11427, when mounted on a 2006 Toyota Avalon. However I did measure the hitch itself. The distance from the end of the receiver to the most-forward mounting hole center (the hole at the narrowest tip of the mounting bracket) is 19-1/4 inches. If you measure from the center of this most-forward...

  • Using 2 Inch Accessories in a Class I Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Toyota Avalon
The available trailer hitches for the 2008 Toyota Avalon are all Class I hitches with 1-1/4 inch receivers: # 24870 or # C11427. Since there are no Class III, 2 inch hitch options available you would need an adapter, # HTAD, to be able to use a 2 inch accessory. However, the use of an adapter will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. Both hitches mentioned above have a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds. When using the adapter it will be reduced...

  • Is the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13701 Compatible with a 2008 Toyota Avalon
The Curt # C13701 trailer hitch that you referenced is intended for RVs and Camper Trailers; it is not compatible with your 2008 Toyota Avalon. For your Avalon you will need to go with a custom fit option that was designed to work with your specific vehicle. The Curt # C11427 is what you will want to go with instead. It is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. You could try using an adapter like the Brophy part # HTAD, but it will reduce the tongue weight capacity by 50% and increase...
