Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation- 2006 Honda Accord - Curt

Today, on our 2006 Honda Accord, we'll be installing a Curt Hitch, part number C11327. This is what our hitch will look like once it's installed. Next, we'll go ahead and give you a couple measurements to assist your selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is 5 inches. From the top of the receiver-tube opening to the ground is 12 inches. This will assist your selecting accessories such as a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. Now, we'll go ahead with installation.

To begin our install, we'll first point out the attachment points. Because this vehicle is not equipped with a heat shield, our attachment points are all visible, starting with the tow hook here in the center at the rear of the vehicle and then the pre-drilled holes in the frame, both on the driver and passenger side. Keep in mind that each process we do here on one side, we're going to repeat identically on the other, as both attachment points and the frame rails are the same. Next, we'll need to lower the exhaust. Before we attempt to lower the exhaust, I want to put a safety strap underneath first to help support the weight of the exhaust. To lower the exhaust, we'll need to remove the rubber isolators and metal hangers.

First, we'll go ahead and spray them down with some spray lubricant and then use a pry bar or pliers to remove the rubber isolator from the metal hanger. Once we do this, we can then use the safety strap to safely lower the weight of the exhaust. Now with the exhaust lowered and out of the way, we can begin installing the hitch. We'll take our hitch, put it into position, and then install the 1/2-inch carriage bolt into the hitch and secure it with the 1/2-inch flange nut. Then we'll move to the frame rails, where we will take our 7/16 pull wire, 7/16 carriage bolt and block, and feed them into position by taking the pull wire, feeding it through the attachment point and out the access hole just forward in the frame. Then we'll slide on the block and thread on the carriage bolt. We'll feed the block and bolt into the frame and then pull them into position, removing the pull wire.

Note, in some applications, it may be necessary to file or hone out a small section of the access hole to get the block into place. Now, with our hardware in the frame, we'll go ahead and bring the hitch up into position, being careful not to push our carriage bolts back into the frame. Then we'll secure it with the 7/16 flange nuts. Now with our hitch installed and all our hardware finger tight, we'll go ahead and run it down. Next, we'll torque to specifications, as indicated in the instructions. Now with our hitch secured and torqued to specifications, we'll go ahead and reinstall the exhaust.

With that, this will complete the install of the Curt Hitch, part number C11327, on our 2006 Honda Accord. .

Instal was pretty quick. The paint seems to be fairly thick and resistant to corrosion. 524465

I was very pleased with the trailer hitch, extension, and ball I received. The recommendations were spot on. The only recommendation I have to make was the instructions left a lot to be desired. Please consider adding links to youtube tutorials ( that's what I used) or make tutorial videos yourself. Other. Than that,mi would definitely order from this company again. 163724

The product was exactly what my auto prescribed for (unlike U-haul who ordered the wrong part that delayed my project two weeks), and that was due to your sales rep Vince who was very patient in dealing with a Boomer. Rather than being charged $65 for installation, I decided to install it myself. Rather than the half hour that was predicted, I took two hours because the washer needed to be grinded down in order for it to fit the hole on the frame.Your video tutorials were a great confidence builder..I would not have entertained the idea to do it myself otherwise 159154

I received the package from etrailer yesterday. Everything was packed well, in a single carton and undamaged. I prepped this morning to install the hitch and wiring T harness on my 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid (V6, dual muffler, heat shields). Not including prep (gathering tools, level spot etc) it took a little over 2 hours to complete. As expected (pointed out in videos) the metal bracket did not quite fit through the access hold in the frame. I found it much easier to file down the bracket than to widen the hole in the frame. Overall, very very happy. I went a few hours later and purchased a 5X8 utility trailer and pulled it for about an hour on the highway and in traffic. No issues. 221115

Nice. I received an email this morning asking how I like the product after a year. No complaints at all, still works like a champ.

2003 Honda Accord

I just finished installing this on my 2003 accord. It took much longer than necessary because the backing washer that is supposed to go in the frame didn't fit into the frame. I had to spend about a half hour grinding the edges down to get them to fit. These parts are clearly not sized properly for this application. In addition the frame bolts could be a few threads longer. It was very difficult to get the nut on without pushing them back into the frame. In addition getting the pull wire off the first bolt is very difficult and almost ruined it. The really should be two of these provided. Then they could be left on until the heat shield is re installed. Overall this is a poor set up and not nearly as easy as my other hitch I got from you. 577354

Just installed it tonight. The install video was excellent. I'm sixty plus and still like to do projects and have the satisfaction of doing it my self. The toughest part of the job is removing the upper exhaust hanger, be sure to spray liberally wth wd-40. Also make sure you support exhaust with strap before removing hangers. 501127

I was able to install the hitch in my driveway using ramps, thanks to the available youtube video the install is very easy. The only issue I had was torquing the carriage bolt to 110 ft-lb. I ended up stopping over to my local Pep Boys and giving the mechanic 5 bucks to do it for me. Worked out great. The hitch itself is pretty nice, I have no complaints thus far, it's a hitch it does what a hitch is supposed to do. 143906

Ask the Experts about this Curt Trailer Hitch

  • What is the Difference Between Curt and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches for a 2007 Honda Accord
There are only so many different hitch designs for any given vehicle. For your 2007 Honda Accord the Draw-Tite hitch # 24787 and Curt hitch # C11327 have the same basic design. This is because of where the best places are on the vehicle to attach a hitch. That is why they look so similar though they are made by 2 different manufacturers. The biggest difference between them is Curt says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as...

  • 2004 Honda Accord Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2-Bike Rack that Can Adapt to 4-Bike Rack
Thank you for all of the details regarding your situation! I will do my best to address all of your concerns so that you can go on rides with your sons in the future. You are correct that an adapter will reduce the weight rating of the trailer hitch by 50% but the good news is that it won't reduce the weight rating of your vehicle at all (which is 100 lbs for tongue weight found in the owner's manual). For your 2004 Honda Accord EX you need to use the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11327 as it...

  • Locking Hitch Pin and Anti-Rattle Device for the Brophy Hitch Adapter # HT5R
I do have a solution for you to add a locking hitch pin and an anti-rattle device to your Brophy Hitch Adapter # HT5R but since it has a solid shank that isn't threaded the Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device # THSTL2 won't work properly like it does with your Thule T2 Pro XTB # TH9034XT. Instead what you will need to do is use the Swivel Head Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4" and 2" Trailer Hitches # 2866DAT and the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061-125 to lock and...

  • Excessive Noise After Installing Trailer Hitch On 2006 Honda Accord
I am not sure why there would be noise coming from the # C11327 installation concerning the tow hook on your 2006 Accord. The installation does require the exhaust hanger removal by taking off the rubber isolators. They are installed after the hitch has been installed and the bolts have been torqued to the specifications. It is possible that the exhaust is making contact with your hitch causing the noise you are hearing. I have attached a link to a helpful article that explains...

  • Class I Trailer Hitch Installation on 2007 Honda Accord Sedan
The Curt Class I hitch # C11327 is a confirmed fit on the 2007 Honda Accord Sedan. It also fits the 2-door Coupe for model years 2003 through 2007. It will require some drilling and minor heat shield modification. I have linked an installation video as well as a helpful article to aid your hitch installation. In this hitch you can use Class I accessories like a 2-bike rack such as # S64670 or a cargo carrier like # C18145. If you plan to tow you'll also need a wiring harness # C55502...

  • Could 2001 Honda Accord Tow Small Trailer with Motorcycles
The total trailer weight and tongue weight you mentioned having of 55 lb tongue weight and 455 lb total trailer weight would fall well within the towing capacity of your Accord so you'd be totally safe with this setup. I know you have a hitch already but for trailer wiring then the kit we'd recommend is the part # 118336 because it installs very easily and has the most reliable converter box of the kits we offer. For ball mounts you'd want the part # C45562 for if the trailer needs a...

To install the Curt hitch part # C11327 on a dual exhaust version of the 2006 Honda Accord Sedan really wouldn't be that much different than a single exhaust. We had a customer come back and write a review for this hitch and he mentioned that he had a dual exhaust model and he made no mention of any special steps needed. I attached an install video for this hitch on a 2006 Honda Accord just like yours.

  • Vertical Movement on Curt Trailer Hitch # C11327 Installed on 2007 Honda Accord
I spoke with my contact at Curt regarding the Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11327 on your 2007 Honda Accord. He stated that while they have not heard of any issues like what you are describing with the small gap between the carriage bolt and tow loop on the vehicle, it is possible that there is a small manufacturer variance with the tow loop itself. It might be that the tow loop on your specific vehicle is just a tiny bit thinner than normal. He stated that under normal circumstances, if...

  • Curt Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2005 Honda Accord
Both hitches would work well for your 2005 Honda Accord but I would go with the part # C11327 since it is frame mounted over the pan mounted part # C11290. For what you are doing though it most likely would be fine either way though. Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well.
