The hitch install took me a couple of hours including gathering all the tools, and waiting a bit for the touch up paint to dry around the enlarged holes. It was very easy and I was able to do it by myself. The complaint I have is someone at etrailer put their sticker upside down on hitch.

Hitch fit just as indicated. A bit of a pain enlarging holes but fortunately it was accomplished using a drill and boring tool. Whoever came up with the jig to pull the bolts through the holes is a genius. To anyone installing this or a similar hitch just “READ” and follow the instructions. Was able, though a bit tough installing by myself. Good luck torquing the bolts.....was able to get the forefront bolts to but getting the torque wrench on the back bolts was impossible, using a good socket wrench was the best I could do. On to the lighting assembly.....

Great, used it for a new bicycle rack. Worked great. Thanks

This was easy to install - I had to very slightly file the outside edges of one of the existing holes in the supports under my truck, but that was easily accomplished and the instructions were clear. The included wire system for retrieving bolts was simple (and pretty cool). We've used this frequently with a bike rack and have had absolutely no issues at all. Will probably purchase a small platform this year so that we can throw some additional luggage or a cooler back there as well.

I purchased this hitch for my '16 Subaru Crosstrek. It arrived quickly and install took about 30 minutes. As you can see in the photos, it looks well integrated (not like an add-on). Using it with a Yakima Holdup bike rack. Very pleased with the customer service from etrailer.com. A friend recommended to me and I will do the same. :-)

Still vary satisfied with the hitch. I use it mostly for attaching my bike rack. Even bought a Subaru cap to put on it when not in use.

My wife and I installed this on my her Impreza 5-Door so that we could use the Thule TH990XT to carry our bikes. Installation requires us to enlarge two holes in the subframe. After that, the installation was extremely easy if you have two people working on it. The hitch receiver looks great and does not stick out beyond the bumper at all. We don't even notice it when the bike rack is not on there.

This hitch fit our 2013 Subaru Impreza Sport perfectly. Watching the video of this hitch being installed was very helpful. I watched the video several times during the installation process to make sure I was doing it properly. I backed the rear wheels onto car ramps to create an adequate working space. My only suggestion would be to make the 1/2" bolts a little longer to make threading the nut on easier.

Great experience from start to finish. Wanted a hitch that didn't require me to drop the muffler and finding the solution was easy. Price was great, free shipping, and it arrived right on time with several etrailer updates along the way. Installation was as described and the videos and customer reviews were very helpful. Thanks etrailer!

The hitch arrived quickly from etrailer! I purchased a discounted model with a few cosmetic scratches on it? Guess what the scratches are hidden by the bumper of my 2014 Subaru XV Crostrek! Install took approximately 60 minutes. The paper instructions weren't easy to understand, but after watching the install video from your site, a couple of times it went smoothly! I have also purchased the Swagman Chinook 2 bike platform carrier to be installed soon.

Great instructions, good quality, but a huge pain to install if you have any sort of aftermarket exhaust. If you have an aftermarket exhaust where the tip is extended beyond the normal tip length, I highly recommend taking the exhaust off before you try to install it. It fits with my Borpa 11843 axleback but it may not fit at all with a different one.

After one year I can say this has been a great product and held up well. Had it installed at a local garage and have used it frequently since, mostly hitching up the bicycle rack. I'm not a car guy so I did a lot of research on this and the bike rack to make sure everything would work and be solid- definitely money well spent.

These folks are professional at what they do. Ordered by phone and the sales person made sure that I was ordering the correct hitch and that for the used bike rack that I I just purchased, and no longer sold, was a match for the hitch. The hitch was shipped fast, installed fast and fit perfectly and they priced matched a company that offers no service other than low prices.

I used a dremel tool to expand just two corners of the holes on the car frame instead of making the entire holes larger. The point is to get the plates and the bolts through it, so it's not necessary to make the entire hold larger. Kind of like o->{} instead of o->O. After getting the bolts in place, I used a bunch of strong magnets to hold them there, just so I don't accidentally push them back in while putting the hitch in place. Remember there are two different sizes of bolts/nuts/fish-wires. Everything went smoothly until the last torque'ing part. There's barely enough room on the left side (without the exhaust pipe) to make this happen. On the right side, it's practically impossible without lowering the muffler. I got the left side exactly at 110/70 ft-lb, but I had to wing it for the right side. That's the only reason I knocked one star off. All in all, I managed to do it all by myself and it looks nice. I like how it points up ever so slightly, too.

Comments
Hitch has been great. The rear-end of the car sagged with any load on it, so I swapped the rear springs with stiffer, but still standard height, ones made by King Springs. The car is perfect now.

I'm going to use this hitch for an electric bike rake. I have a 2016 Subaru Impreza. It fit perfectly. The installation videos were very helpful. I did need to ream out the forward holes but I knew that going in. I laid out the parts on my work bench to see how they would work and that was helpful. I would recommend that the forward bolts be increased in length by a quarter inch. If that was the case my rating would have been 5 stars. THX.

Installed this hitch on a 2013 Subaru Impreza today. Took me 2 hours only because I could not lift the car far. All parts and fishing wires included, could not be easier. The video on the etrailer website is clear and very helpful.

What a great hitch and heavy duty. I use it for a bike rack and it keep the bikes far from the rear door as the hitch is flush with the bumper. It only took about 1 hour to install.

Easy installation. The fish wire worked great! I had my doubts at first. This will make transporting my bicycles a piece of cake. P.S. I installed the hitch on a Crosstrek Hybrid, fit perfectly.

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4 Inch Hitch on 2015 Subaru Impreza
There is a trailer hitch receiver lock that works with the 1-1/4 inch receiver of the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11286 that fits your 2015 Subaru Impreza, though the lock you mentioned is only a fit for 2 inch hitch receivers. Instead, for a similar lock I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # C23517. This is similar to the lock you mentioned but is compatible with smaller hitch receivers; it is made of stainless steel so it is highly resistant to any corrosion and...

Let me begin by saying that the hitches are designed to fit around a stock exhaust, so I can't speak to whether or not your existing aftermarket axle back exhaust would interfere. If the exhaust does interfere, a muffler shop could most likely make things work for you. For the sedan Impreza model, I'd recommend the Curt Class I hitch, part # C11408. • Recommended Hitch, Wiring and Towing Components for 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek
The hitch I recommend for your 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek is the etrailer 2-inch Class III hitch # E98838. I suggest this specific hitch for several reasons. First, there is little difference in weight or cost between most Class I hitches and the Class III models. The etrailer hitch # E98838 weighs about 35-lbs while the Curt # C11286 weighs 30-lbs. The extra 5-lbs of hitch weight is a good trade off since this 2-inch hitch offers more than double the tongue weight (TW) capacity of the...

  • What Stabilizing Strap is Needed for Curt Class I Hitch C11286 for 2016 Subaru Crosstrek
The strap they're referring to is # 18050. One end of the strap would loop around the upright of the bike rack, the other would clip into the seam between the hatch and the vehicle roof. I've linked you to a video showing how that works. Because of the small wing above the rear window that the strap would need to pass over, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable using the strap, my fear being that the strap could abrade the paint over time or damage the wing. So this leaves you with three options....
