Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2014 Toyota Prius - Curt

Today on our 2014 Toyota Prius, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt custom fit class one trailer hitch receiver. This is an inch and a quarter opening, part number is C11276. Here's what the hitch looks like once you get it on your vehicle. As you can see, it's a pretty clean look. You're going to have the round tube, so it's a little softer than some of the other designs. This offers a 200 pound tongue weight capacity, 2,000 pound gross trailer weight capacity, but of course you're going to want to check with the Prius owner's manual to make sure those numbers are okay.

If not, go off of whichever number is going to be the lowest. The edge of the receiver tube here is about flush with the back of the car. It's not going to be sticking out too far, and it's not tucked up so far underneath to where you can't use some items out there. This is a class one, so not a lot of heavy duty situations for towing and things like that. Work great for bike racks, some small cargo carriers, and light duty towing applications. When using a bike rack, you can use a four bike rack in the hitch, but you're limited to just a two bike capacity, so you'll want to keep that in mind. Now let's go over a couple of measurements that will help you in selecting your ball mount, bike rack, or maybe cargo carrier.

From the ground to the inside edge of the top of the receiver tube opening is going to be about 11 1/8 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer edge of the bumper, we're looking at about two. Now we're going to just put a strap across the underside here of the exhaust to begin with. This is just going to give us a bit of support because our first step is going to be to remove the bracket right here by taking out the bolt located here and here. That's out of the way. You'll see our exhaust will come down a little bit.

It's going to give us some room to work. They also recommend removing the rubber hanger from the exhaust just to ease our installation a little bit later. We'll do a little spray lubricant on that hanger and then we'll just try to pry it from the back side to get it off. We can let that isolator and that hanger stay there. Now on the driver's side here, we're going to be removing the tow hook or the tie-down loop. These are both the same size bolt as what we used there on the passenger side.

We're going to pull those down and we'll return the tow loop. The hardware we removed from the driver's side and the passenger side we'll want to hold on to in case we ever remove the hitch. We can put these back into place. You can see here where we removed our tow loop, we're going to have the two mounting locations for our driver's side. Where we removed our exhaust hanger on the passenger side, we'll have our two mounting locations there. Here's the hardware that will come with the hitch. As you can see, we're going to have a hex bolt and a conical tooth washer. We want to make sure that the teeth face in. This is going to go right through our hitch and then into our existing weld nuts up here. It's a good idea to start each one just to make sure it's going to thread in, there aren't any threads that are out of line or anything like that. Let those start in there five, six turns; you'll be in good shape. Now we can lift our hitch up into position. We'll guide the hitch through on the driver's side. As you can see, you've got to wiggle it there and get it to slide through that opening. Going to guide the passenger side to where it's at least above the exhaust there, then I'm going to line up one of my holes on the driver's side and we'll get it started. Now we'll come over here to the driver's side, we'll put our hitch up into position, then we'll bring our exhaust bracket back in. We're going to sandwich the hitch between the exhaust bracket and the frame. Now we'll get our other bolt started on the passenger side here, and then head to the driver's side and get the last one over there started. Now we'll take a quick look, just to be sure that we have our hitch centered with the vehicle. Once we've confirmed that, we'll start snugging up all our fasteners. Now we'll get our torque wrench out and torque each one to specifications listed in the instructions. Now we'll slide our exhaust hanger back into place and we can remove our safety strap. We just with those couple of short steps, our hitch is in and we're ready to hook up. Put our exhaust back in place, that's going to complete today's installation of the Curt class 1 custom trailer hitch receiver, part number C11276 on our 2014 Toyota Prius. .

It's a well-made product. Installation was ok. It would have been better if I had a lift/ramps or a floor jack and jackstands to give me more working room. But it is possible to do the installation with the car sitting on the driveway. It just takes longer. The one thing that was a bit of a pain is the heat shield on the muffler. It is in the way of the passenger side bracket. If you can figure out a way to slip the shield above the plate on the towbar, it will end up getting sandwiched between the towbar plate and the muffler bracket. It wasn't worth the trouble so I just put a piece of rubber inner tube from a bicycle tire between the shield and the bodywork and fastened the bracket to the undercarriage. At least it won't rattle or abrade the paint/undercoating. It took me about 45 mins, working by myself. I'd buy it again and definitely get it from etrailer. This company is just awesome! 661500

Such a easy install it took me only 20mins from the ground I did back both rear wheels on a bricks to give me more room underneath to install the hitch I recommend lubricant on bolts and muffler hanger, I didn’t have a breaker bar so I used a wheel lug t bar and used the 3/4 side to just loosen it then came back with 19mm ratchet and loosen and tightened it all up and torqued to spec , It’s really simple I watched the curt video install on you tube once and understood it . Im glad I chose the Curt because it was so simple to install great product I recommend buying from etrailer vs eleswhere online...my receiver hitch was delivered well packed with no problems I’ve heard complaints from other websites that delivery was received damaged or bent so the bold won’t line up . Do yourself a solid and go to etrailer you won’t regret it. 666829

I’m super excited to use the hitch I just got. The installation went fairly smooth with a big help from the video. It took less than an hour for the 2 guys who were helping me. I’m not sure I could have done it alone. The hardest part seemed like attaching the hitch on the passenger side because of the exhaust. The spec for this product says to torque it to 86 lbs. I hope that is enough to carry the load it is manufactured to claim. The hitch looks great and hangs as it should but I hope it’s not to low since I am already scraping the bottom of my car on shitty Bay Area roads. I like how it doesn’t stick out past the bumper much at all so I won’t knock my shins. 655097

I purchase two different products and installed both, back to back. I did not use a jack or a lift, so it took about 45 minutes to finesse this one into/onto my Toyota Prius. I needed a helper (wife) which made it much easier. This is for a bike rack. Ordered Friday and delivered Monday, fast, fast. Thank you. 229876

It has performed as my intended use. I have only used this for attaching a bicycle rack and holding 2 bicycles.

Love it! This trailer hitch allows an upright bike rack to attach, with the addition of an adapter, to our hatchback style Prius. It is much sturdier than our old bike rack that leaned against the hatch window. The trailer hitch/bike rack combo allows us to get into the hatch without removing the rack. We travelled across Florida and back, 300 miles, with no problems. Your website was very helpful in determining the proper hitch and installation was easy. Thank you for a great product at a good price. 528773

I haven't had any issues with the update products I ordered. The installation video was perfect, and I've been using it daily. The only thing I think should be different is the weather protection for the four prong wiring harness. Otherwise, no complaints. Thanks for checking up. 474585

Purchased the Curt hitch to allow hauling a bike rack and possibly a utility trailer. The hitch was very well made and very easy to install. No issues were encountered at all with the installation - a true bolt-on. etrailer had the hitch delivered quickly to me and the purchasing process went extremely well. Thanks Curt and etrailer for a great product and great service. 558382

I could not have received a better product or customer support! Not only did Mark suggest a better product than the one I had selected from the (excellent) on-line product listings, but my request to expedite shipping resulted in the trailer hitch arriving a day earlier than promised. The installation instructions were very detailed (included color photos, parts list, torque wrench values, etc.) and the on-line movie was equally excellent. It took me abit longer than I expected (~ 1 hour) to install, but this was my fault for not having all of the right tools laid out and available. The final installed hitch (from Curt) fits like a glove and really looks like OEM. Frankly, the newer design (for my 2014 vehicle) appears to be even stronger ("beefier:) than the hitch (another Curt) which I bought for my same model but earlier 2006 vehicle. Congratulations eTrailer, I will definitely be back for my future trailer hitch requirements. 208720

Since youve had two of these hitches, did you experience much rust or corrosion on the Curt you installed on the 2006 vehicle?

We use the hitch in combination with our bike rack at least twice each month. It truly is an asset towards making our bike riding experiences enjoyable and not an anxiety!

This hitch is great. Customer service was great when ordering, and all came as promised and in a timely manner. Installation was well described and demonstrated in etrailer's video, which was SUPER helpful to see. Took me longer than indicated, but that's typical for my projects as I'm always operating on a shortage of ideal tools (only trick was the tight/awkward access to bolts on Prius undercarriage). Installing wiring package, however, proved to be a little more of a bugger - and this is only reason I'm rating 4 stars vs 5. The video on wiring install shows a slightly older model Prius (2010), and the newer model for which this wiring package also fits (2013) has a wiring arrangement slightly different than what was demonstrated - or at least mine did. It only meant that I had to dig a little deeper, taking off a few more plastic covers inside the car in order to find the appropriate harnesses to plug new kit into. Not necessarily a big deal, except when operating on a tight schedule and in waning light. I was frustrated to find myself scratching my head over a set up that was different than anticipated and indicated in the demonstration video. Only request would be for an updated video demonstration on a newer (or additional) model(s) of Prius for which this harness also works. Otherwise...thanks, etrailer, for a great product and great service! 529304

I installed the Curt C11276 trailer hitch receiver on my 2015 Toyota Prius, after reviewing the instructions and watching Curt's YouTube video for a similar installation (2010 Toyota Prius). The instructions were helpful; so was the video. The main snag was that the bolt holes in the hitch flanges did not quite line up with the holes in the car's frame. I was obliged to attach a nylon rope to one side of the hitch and apply about 100 lb of pull on the rope to force the holes to line up. Time for installation, including dealing with that snag, was about 1.5 hours. 225342

The trailer hitch receiver appears very well-constructed and fits my car nicely. The bolt holes lined up perfectly! It also looks good under the rear bumper. Installation wasn't too hard - I did it by myself in the driveway without even jacking up the car. The only challenge was caused by a plastic panel under my car kind of being in the way on one side - not really a big deal, and this has nothing to do with the hitch itself. I haven't yet used the hitch but so far I'm very happy with the purchase. 268348

I installed it in 15 minutes with good video and instructions that are provided. Mounting tabs lined up perfectly to OEM holes using their upgraded bolts and washers. Received it in 3 days after they sent me shipping confirmation and tracking number. They should tape foam on the mounting tabs to prevent damage and puncturing through the box. I like how it tucks up and hardly noticeable. 147159

First, let's make a comment on etrailer's service. I placed my order at 4:40 am. The item was shipped at 7:30 am. UPS attempted delivery the next day mid-morning. What would expedited service look like?!! The Curt hitch is excellent quality. It took a little longer to install than anticipated, but once in it is great looking and very sturdy. The knuckle of the hitch sticks out about an inch to two inches beyond the bumper of my 2010 Toyota Prius. A couple of pictures are attached. 228581

Hitch works great. Installation went fairly smoothly. There were two of us working together on it and while it took a little more time than expected, it is rock solid. I was a little hesitant to purchase as it is more visible than other hitches, but the practical impact is I no longer notice it. Having owned several vehicles with hitches, one thing I like over those is the ability to tighten the pin when you use a ball mount or a bike rack. A good product at a reasonable price. 571570

The Curt hitch is an excellent product. The delivery was very fast, the packaging was minimal, yet very effective, and the hitch was light enough to manage by one person. Installation was done on my 2011 Prius with gracious help from my wife. The car was directly on the ground. Aside from getting the 19mm bolt on the muffler side correctly torqued, the install was fairly easy. The bolt toward the front of the vehicle on the muffler side is not an easy one to reach for enough purchase in order to effectively reach with deep 19mm socket. Either a prop or second set of hands was necessary for me to complete the setup. The purpose for the hitch is to connect the Kuat Beta 2.0 bike rack. 277261

Hitch arrived on time, in great shape. Was relatively simple to install, with all parts provided (took me about 4x the "novice" time, but I'm not used to working on cars and didn't have it lifted). Instructions were specific to my car model, and weren't bad though they could have been more clear. Used this hitch to drive a Uhaul trailer from CA to Chicago using my Prius - it worked wonderfully! 432140

So far, it looked pretty good and sturdy. Only thing is a little annoying is when I need to drive my Prius up my driveway, I have to go up at an angle, otherwise, the trailer hitch would scratch the floor. 570926

Hitch seems well made and so far hasn't fallen off the car! Like others have mentioned the installation was trickier than the video showed it to be and took us about 2 hours. Amongst other things, you may need a pipe to extend your wrench handle and really get some leverage on crusty old bolts. Definitely having two people makes it easier (but then again, having a lift or a pit would have made it easier/quicker too!). The main problem was on my 2013 Prius the muffler was about an inch closer to the rear of the car than in the video, so it was quite tricky to get a wrench in there. Eventually we did by shoving the muffler over with a lot of force. There is a rubber piece that attaches the muffler to the car. Although the paper instructions had a little diagram for how to release it, we couldn't figure it out and avoided messing with it so we wouldn't break it and have to replace it. It would be nice if you added the manipulation of that piece to the video. Lastly, we ended up using one of the stock bolts (in place of a bolt that came with the hitch) on the hardest to reach position because it had a conical end which made it easier to get the threads started. If the bolts that came with the hitch were a little tapered, it would greatly help getting them started. 728986

The whole experience was very easy. Ordering was easy, the hitch was delivered quickly and securely packed, and installation was easy. The only "hitch" with installation was that on my 2015 Prius, neither the video or instructions mentioned that the catalytic converter heat shield would overlap the hitch bracket where it bolts to the car, and thus interferes a little. I took some pliers and just bent back the thin shield metal to get it out of the way. Not hard but I thought I was doing something wrong because this step wasn't mentioned, until I searched reviews and found that other people had the same issue. 666478

It’s been perfect on my 2011 Prius. With no accessory mounted, the hitch is unobtrusive and doesn’t look out of place. I wouldn’t dream of hauling my bicycles any other way! I was able to install this myself, although it was somewhat challenging because I didn’t have the ideal combination of socket, wrench, and extension bit. Still made it happen all the same. So far so good with the mount. Very simple instructions. Not the fault of the hitch mount at all but for the Prius V, the exhaust rubber isolate valve is very difficult to remove (make sure you have a nice sturdy flat head screwdriver to be able to apply adequate force). Bolts seem to be locked in nicely. Will update if needed in the future. 650273

Wow...from start to finish it took 14 minutes (I did watched the video instructions twice). Just removed 4 screws and replaced it with four new ones. Hitch was installed by myself with the help of 2 bricks and a piece of thin wood that I used to lined up hitch to the car. Instructions were clear and shipping was fast. Thank you!!!!! 634317

2015 Toyota Prius

Purchased this for my "new" 2015 Prius and I'm very pleased by how easy it was to install and how nice it looks. My primary need for a hitch is to carry a bike rack, but I also have a small utility trailer that has been very handy when I need to carry a bulky load that won't fit in the Prius even when it's not all that heavy. I had previously installed a Curt hitch on my 2009 Prius and had a bit of a problem where the bolt holes didn't quite line up (even though it was only off by 1/8 of an inch or so, it was a lot of work to "stretch" it by even that much to fit. So, I wasn't quite sure what to expect this time. But it turned out to be no problem at all - the holes lined up perfectly, making the installation quick and easy. A few tips: 1) When removing the tow hook from the drivers side, make sure to carefully remove the bolt and socket driver. If you don't, they can fall down and get caught on the top side plastic underbody panel. That turned what would have been about a 30 minute job into a 60 minute one! 2) The video was very helpful. The installer in the video suggested putting some spray lubricant on the exhaust hanger to help get it back on. I initially found it impossible to remove, even with lots of effort to point that I as worried about damaging it. But a quick shot of silicon lubricant worked wonders - it slid right off to all access to the bolts, and the slid back on easily as well. 3) Be sure to use a torque wrench as described in the installation instructions. I had to torque it down a lot tighter than I would have guessed without the torque wrench. 613431

Ask the Experts about this Curt Trailer Hitch

Do you have a question about this Trailer Hitch?

  • Comparing Trailer Hitches that Fit a 2017 Toyota Prius v
  • We currently carry four trailer hitch receivers that fit your 2017 Toyota Prius v and the best one for you depends on what you're using it for. For example, the EcoHitch, part # 306-X7192, is the best option if you're going to be using the hitch to carry a cargo carrier or bike rack because the hitch pin hole sits closer to the rear bumper so whatever is in the hitch has a higher chance of clearing the bumper. It's also the only one that's a 2 inch receiver and there are more hitch accessories...

  • What Do Hitches for 2017 Toyota Prius V Weigh
  • The EcoHitch part # 306-X7192 weighs 28 lbs. The Curt part # C11276 weighs 31 lbs and the Draw Tite # 24967 weighs 21 lbs.

  • Thule T2 Bike Rack with 1-1/4 Inch Shank Compatibility with 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver
  • You are correct that a 2 inch hitch receiver is a better option when available for your vehicle. The ability to use a wider variety of accessories is one of the biggest draws but they are normally rated for higher capacities as well when compared to a 1-1/4 inch receiver. Your Thule T2 with 1-1/4 inch shank similar to the newer T2 Classic # TH9045 will be able to use your 2 inch receiver. Most racks that are designed for use with both 2 inch and 1-1/4 inch hitch receivers will use...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch to Use with Bike Rack on 2012 Toyota Prius
  • The Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11276 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2012 Toyota Prius. I believe you are referring to the weld-stop that is present on many Draw-Tite Class I hitches that prevent Class II bike racks or other accessories from sliding all the way into the receiver. This particular feature is not present on Curt hitches, so will not have any issues using your Yakima 1-1/4 inch bike rack with the Curt hitch installed. Just note that Curt...

  • Draw-Tite # 24847 vs Curt # C11276 for Carrying Bike Rack with 2014 Toyota Prius
  • The better hitch for carrying a bike rack with your 2014 Toyota Prius is the Draw Tite part # 24847 because unlike the Curt # C11276 it does not require you use a stabilizer strap like # 18050 with a non-supported load like a bike rack. That said, only the Curt is made in the USA and the Draw Tite in Mexico.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2014 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid
  • The Curt hitch part # C11276 that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 2014 Toyota Prius Plug In and would do a great job to carry a bike rack. The only other solution I might recommend instead for your vehicle is the Draw Tite part # 24967 since only the hitch opening hangs below the rear bumper which gives a more concealed look and also gives better ground clearance. While we don't carry the Allen bike rack you mentioned it's not a terrible choice. For a similar priced bike...

  • Will Trailer Hitch From 2008 Toyota Prius Fit a 2012 Toyota Prius
  • We do have a hitch for you but the trailer hitches we carry for the 2008 Toyota Prius, which I've linked, are not the same as for the 2012. Of the hitches that fit the 2012 Prius I recommend the Draw-Tite which is part # 24847. I prefer it over the Curt, part # C11276, becuase it doesn't require you use a stabilization strap, part # 18050, if you're carrying accessories like a bike rack or cargo carrier. Other than that and how the two hitches look they're basically the same. There's...

  • Will the Curt Class-I Trailer Hitch Fit a 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-In Version
  • Yes, the Curt Class-I trailer hitch # C11276 will fit your 2012 Toyota Prius just fine. It has a maximum tongue weight of 200 pounds but I would still double-check your owners manual to confirm the maximum tongue weight on your Prius. Please note that all non-trailer loads such as bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps like # 18050. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt. I included a couple installation...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2011 Toyota Prius to Carry a Bike Rack
  • The 2 trailer hitch receivers that will fit your 2011 Toyota Prius are the Curt # C11276 and the Draw-Tite # 24847. The best choice for you is the Draw-Tite option because when we installed it on a 2011 Prius we found the ground clearance to be 12-1/4 inches as opposed to the Curt's 11 inches. They both have a measurement of 2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the furthest edge of the bumper so you will not have to worry about it sticking out. The other thing to note is...

  • Difference Between Curt Hitch # 11276 and # C11276
  • There is no difference, Curt's part number is 11276. We add a C to that part number as we do for all of our Curt products. This hitch would be an excellent choice for your 2013 Toyota Prius. I attached an install video for you to check out also. All non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt. For that you would want part # 18050.

  • Recommended Hitch for 2012 Toyota Prius V
  • The best hitch for you will depend on what you were wanting to use it for. If you were planning on simply using the hitch as a mount for a bike rack (due to the capabilities of the Class I hitch, you will need a Class I rated bike rack and will be limited to carrying two bikes), the Draw-Tite Class I receiver, part # 24847 would be your best choice. The Curt hitch, # C11276 would also be a fine choice, albeit a bit more expensive. The hitch warranty stipulates that a stabilizing strap...

  • If you were to install the Curt Hitch part # C11276 that has been confirmed to fit your 2015 Toyota Prius V the distance from the top of the hitch opening to the ground would be 12 inches. From the bottom of the hitch to the ground it would be right at 10 inches. Check out the install video I attached for this hitch as well.

  • Differences Between Curt and Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitches for 2012 Toyota Prius V
  • The Curt # C11276 and the Draw-Tite # 24847 Class I hitches share the same weight capacity, and the installation procedure is fairly similar. In actuality, the Curt weighs about 8 lbs more than the Draw-Tite hitch. The Curt hitch is constructed of round tube steel that's a bit larger in diameter than the square tube stock the Draw-Tite model is constructed of, which would account for the weight difference. Since both hitches have been tested and found to have the same weight bearing capacity,...

  • Installation Of Hitch On 2013 Toyota Prius
  • The hitch you need for your Toyota Prius depends on the style of Prius you own. I would first recommend checking either with your owner's manual or with your dealership to find what the towing and tongue weight capacity is for your vehicle. For the Prius or Prius Plug-In Hybrid, I would recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C11276. This is a Class l hitch with a 1-1/4 in receiver. It has a towing capacity of 2000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. The installation...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitches For 2015 Toyota Prius Plug-In And 2013 Toyota Prius
  • We have one trailer hitch that is designed to work with the 2015 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid. That trailer hitch is the Curt Hitch, part # C11276. This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. All non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps, like part # 18050. • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2012 Toyota Prius
  • Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24847 has a square cross tube and a little bit different design than Curt hitch # C11276 which has a round cross tube. Both bike rack and hitch manufacturers agree that on a Class I trailer hitch the maximum capacity is 2 bikes. The issue is not how much weight would be on the hitch it is where that weight is placed relative the the hitch receiver. The further the weight is away from the receiver the more stress and torque is put on it like using a cheater...

  • Recommended 3-Bike Carrier For 2013 Toyota Prius
  • Trailer hitches that are available for your 2013 Toyota Prius are Class l hitches. These hitches limit the amount of bikes you can carry in a Class l hitch to 2. I do have another option that will work for you. I recommend a trunk mount bike rack like part # TH9002PRO. This bike carrier can carry 3 bikes and just weighs about 22 lbs. This carrier uses 4 steel cables for securing the carrier to the vehicle instead of the 6 straps that most carriers offer. The weight capacity for this...

  • Can the Thule T2 Bike Rack Be Used with a Hitch Adapter in a Class I Hitch on a 2012 Toyota Prius
  • Your best option for carrying 2 bikes would be to use a bike rack that is compatible with Class I hitches. When using a hitch adapter, like part # HTAD, to use a 2 inch accessory in a Class I hitch, the capacity of the hitch is reduced by 50 percent. In your case 110 pounds will exceed 50 percent of the 200 pound capacity of any trailer hitch, like the hitch you referenced, # C11276, available for your 2012 Toyota Prius. I recommend the Thule Doubletrack Pro, # TH9054, which is compatible...

If you are looking for a US made hitch then the Curt hitch, part # C11276 is the one to choose. This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. As you can see both of them hang about the same distance from the bottom of the vehicle and will be the same in terms of visibility. • Is Curt Strap # 18050 Compatible With Hitch # C11276 on a 2012 Toyota Prius Hatchback With Spolier
  • The CURT Trailer Hitch Support Strap, Part # 18050, is a universal strap that should be compatible with a 2012 Toyota Prius when used in conjunction with the CURT Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # C11276. This support strap will provide additional stability and safety for a hitch-mounted bike rack. • Can the Curt 4 Bike Rack 18030 be Used on a 2013 Toyota Prius V
  • I do have options for you but the Curt 4 Bike Rack part # C18030 is not class I rated so even if you were to only carry two bikes I could not recommend you use this on the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11276 for your 2013 Toyota Prius V. In order to use this bike rack you would need to install the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7192 which would also allow you to carry the maximum number of bikes for this bike rack so long as the weight of the bike rack and these...

  • Class 1 receiver hitches use a 3/4 inch ball shank size. I would recommend item # 19256, for a 1-7/8 inch ball for your hitch or the item # 19258, 2 inch ball. 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch Trailer Hitch adapters like the Hitch Adapter 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch Trailer Hitch Receiver, item # HTAD, are not to be used for towing because the use of an adapter significantly reduces the tongue capacity of the trailer hitch and puts excess stress on the hitch if used for towing due to the extended length...

  • Carrying 4 Bikes on a 2014 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid
  • I have a solution for you but there are a few limitations with a Class I hitch that will change how you load the vehicle. A Class I hitch like the Curt, part # C11276 is limited to only carrying two bikes. A Class I hitch is designed to only have weight relatively close to the vehicle, so adding a third bike can risk significant damage to the vehicle and the hitch. I can't recommend the setup that you've looked at for that reason. Before I get into the recommendations for your...
