Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2013 Honda Fit - Curt

Today, on our 2013 Honda Fit, we're going to install part number C11064 from Curt. This is what the hitch looks like once it's installed on a Honda Fit. Next, we'll use some measurements to help you out in selecting some accessories such as a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. On top of receiver opening down to the ground is 9-3/4 inches and we set out hitch pinhole to the edge of the bumper is about 3-3/4 inches. Now, we'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. First thing you need to do is get the vehicle ready to install the hitch.

To do that, we need to go ahead and remove the panel, so it looks like there's a couple of plastic rivets we have to remove and a screw, and there's some underneath as well. To remove the plastic rivets, let's go ahead and pull up the centers and then work out the rest of the rivet. We'll go ahead and remove the Phillips screw and then on the inside towards the wheel will be two more plastic fasteners to remove. Now, we got one more screw that's pulling up by our fender wheel here, but I think we'll let it pull it in place so let's go ahead and just manipulate it where it stays out of the way because we need to get it right here eventually. We'll go ahead and show you how it will works. Now, this would be for a driver side arm, this block and this bolt we place inside the frame, between the frame and the hitch this block will sit. Go through and then underneath will be the flange nut.

Anyone know that this block is one inch by three inches long. This is the only one of that size that goes in the driver side. Now in the passenger side has a three-inch by one and a half long inch block and our carriage bolt. This will go through the frame and then the same block that goes between the frame and the hitch and then a flange nut on the bottom. Then going towards the mount in the center underneath the trunk pan, we'll get a complete washer and a bolt.

Just a half inch toward the bolt, now these teeth in the washers always going to face towards the hitch. In the inside of where the hitch is mounted will get the handle done. This would be the same for both holes. Now, this is the hole we're going to use for a hitch. This is the hardware, we'll go ahead and thread it inside then pull it back through. Will be using the bolt that comes with the kit.

We're going to take our bolt, put it inside, take our block, put it inside then pull it back through. We'll leave that alone for now. Next we'll go ahead and work on our attachment that goes above the trunk pan here. We need to install these handle nuts. We'll go to a side here but we got to bend the handles, so it'll fit in place. We can do is just go ahead and place it in there, take a bolt and thread it into place. We'll get a hold of the handle and then we'll tighten the bolt that'll form our handle for us. If you want, you can bend the handle down in different direction and then tighten it up. We can just leave our handle nuts in there for now. What are we going to do next is take our hitch, move the excess hands and we'll go ahead and hold it up and attach it to our bolt behind the bumper. We're not going to worry about this for now because we're going to take the hitch down eventually. Next, we'll go ahead and attach the hitch to one of the handle nuts. Now, we'll hold the hitch up, we'll go ahead and slug down our bolts. On the driver side part of our frame, in this case part of a bumper structure, we need to drill a hole out for our hardware. That's why I put our hitch up temporarily to mark for our hole. Before we do that we will make sure that the hitch is straight and then we'll go ahead and mark a hole and drill a quarter inch hole. Now we're going to need an inch drill to make our mark first, about center in our slot in the hitch. We got our mark, now we need to go ahead and lower the hitch out of the way so we can make an enlarge hole. Let's go and take a mark and turn it to your quarter inch hole. Now using a hole saw and turn it into 1-1/8 inch hole. Now we'll take our one-inch block and our carriage bolt we'll go ahead and install it just like we did on the passenger side. Then, we can go ahead and put our hitch up for good and we'll install our spacers that'll go in between. We'll go ahead and put our hitch up in position, inaudible 00:05:33 hands we'll go ahead and reinstall the fasteners that goes towards the trunk pan. There's a hole enough for us where you can still install the rest of the hardware. On our passenger side, we'll go ahead and take a block and put it between the bumper structure and the hitch. Push our hitch up and then install the nuts. With all our hardware in place, we'll go ahead and move the hitch around to make sure it's even and sit in the way we want it. Once we're satisfy with that, we'll go ahead and tighten down our hardware. You can see how this block will fit in the indention in the bumper support here. All right. Now, we'll go ahead and torque down the bolts as what said in the instructions. Now let's take our handles and we will stuck them up and out of the way. You can cut it off if you want to. Now, we'll go ahead and take our panel and put it back into place. Okay, with that our hitch install is finish. That'll do it for part number C11064 from Curt on our 2013 Honda Fit. .

Fast shipping, sturdy product, and all the necessary parts arrived. Really loved the service and installation videos. They made it easy to install. A friend and I installed the hitch in about 30 minutes. 124057

Ive attached a bunch of additional photos. Basically, theres a section back in the bumper that has plenty of space to fish the bolt and flange through without cutting a large hole in the frame. All you have to cut is a circular hole big enough for the bolt itself not the head.

Solid product. I wasn't sure about a hitch on the Fit which is such a light car, but it works fine. I've towed a light trailer with motorcycles from 300 to 500 Lbs on the back and the hitch has worked perfectly and the car worked better than expected. The installation video was also excellent. I'm willing to tear into any mechanical project anyway, but the videos identified all the hidden fasteners and made the project extra easy. 465974

Hitch was delivered in a box that was much too large and the hitch put a hole in the side from moving around. Etrailer needs to do better. The Curt hitch is well made everything lined up where it was supposed to, but the Handle Nuts are total garbage. The tack welds broke on both nuts before I even reached 40ft/lbs of torque. So beware before you buy 342470

The product works. MIght want to throw some paint on the exposed metal after you drill the hole. Had issue with the spot welds failing on the handle nuts while tightening, preventing proper installation. E-Trailer had Curt send me replacements, no hassle, and then followed up to make sure I recieved them. 308370

This is the third "Curt" product I have purchased from Etrailer. I purchased it for bike rack use. Just like my other "Curt" hitches it is extremely well made. I find that these quality hitches are dependable when towing my trailer or a vehicle behind my RV. I recommend highly! 517788

Somewhat difficult installation requiring fishing bolts into tight spots and drilling a hole into the frame (on a 2009 Honda Fit Sport). Took two mechanically inclined people close to 2 hours to install. Feels solid and looks good. 43598

Very happy with my hitch! The install was way easier than I thought it would be, and I pull my trailer around with it all the time. No problems at all. It also looks way better than other hitches I have seen on the same car. 486787

  • Trunk Mounted 2 Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2011 Honda Fit
  • There are actually several options for carrying bikes on the 2011 Honda Fit. I recently helped someone choose a bike rack for the same vehicle. One option is to use a trunk mounted bike rack. According to Thule, there are several trunk mount bike rack options that will fit the 2011 Honda Fit. The two bike racks from Thule that will fit include the following: Raceway 2, # TH9001PRO Passage 2, # TH910XT If you ever plan on doing any sort of towing, then installing a trailer hitch,...

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2009 Honda Fit Sport for Carrying a Bike Rack
  • Since you plan on carrying a bike rack on your 2009 Honda Fit I would recommend you get the Draw-Tite Hitch, part # 24826. If you only plan on carrying a bike rack I would recommend the # 24826. I attached installation instructions for these hitches for you to check out. The Curt hitch, # 11064, is also a good hitch that is available for your vehicle, but it requires the use of a stabilizing strap when used with bike racks so it would not be my first choice. • Will Installing a Trailer Hitch on a 2013 Honda Fit Void the Warranty
  • Consumers of aftermarket products are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the probĀlem in question. With that said you will want to check the vehicle owners manual for your 2013 Honda Fit. It may say specifically not to install a trailer hitch and if so then I...

  • For your 2011 Honda Fit Sport, I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Class I # 24826. It is a custom fit for your vehicle and will give you a 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver opening for a ball mount or other accessory. I've attached a video of this installation to help so you can determine if this is an installation you feel comfortable with. This is an easy installation and a better option than the Curt # C11064 for recreational use. If you will be using this trailer...

I have included a link to an FAQ article on the hitch classes for you. A Class I hitches will still allow you to attach 2-bike bike racks and do some light towing. • 3 Bike Rack Recommendation for 2010 Honda Fit Sport
  • I have a solution for carrying 3 bikes with your 2010 Honda Fit Sport but unfotunately it does not use the hitch you installed. I feel bad as hitch bike racks are typically the way to go, but on smaller vehicles like yours the Class I hitches that fit the vehicles are only rated for carrying up to 2 bikes. The additional weight and leverage is just too much for the frames/hitches. Instead you have to go the trunk mounted route since this does not have the 2 bike max rating. The one to...
