The top of the box was found blown open when delivered but all the hardware was there. It was well secured to the hitch. The hitch seemed significantly thicker than the old hitch and had a nice shiny finish. I used wood blocking and a rope to raise the hitch high enough for me to crawl underneath and connect one fastener to the one remaining welded nut still attached to the frame. After that, the install was a breeze. The other welded nut was ripped from the frame in removing the bolt from the old hitch. A new nut had to be purchased. The rust I found in removing the old hitch was extreme. Rust had made a couple of holes completely through the old OEM hitch even though I removed and painted it a few years beforehand. I ended up painting and coating with fluid film the entire area around the hitch and behind the spare tire before installing the new hitch. I didn't remove the spare tire for the install as suggested in the instructions as I was pretty familar with the area as I spent a lot of time under there removing the old hitch and doing prep work and, therefore, was confident I could do it without removing it. The time spent installing the new hitch itself was a drop in the bucket compared to my other time under there. I probably spent less than 2 hours installing it and that included stopping to get a new nut at a hardware store.

Great hitch, definite upgrade from OEM hitch that rusted out. GM owners check your OE hitch. Super easy install with supplied hardware. Took about a hour to mount. Great price too!

Best. Receiver. Ever! The Curt Class 4 receiver arrived at my door step a few days after ordering. I shopped around quite a bit and etrailers beat all of the other competitors in price by a fair amount. It’s built for heavy duty use, compared to the OEM receiver. They should put these on all trucks that come off the assembly line. The original receiver had two decent size cracks. It took a little longer for installation on my 2009 Chevy 1500. I recommend blasting the nuts and bolts with some sort of penetrating oil a day before installation. Took me 2 hours to unbolt the factory hitch. If you’re installing by yourself, I recommend using a couple cam straps to help hold the receiver near the frame in order to get a bolt in. Other than that installation went fast and smooth! I have been recommending etrailers and Curt receivers to all my friends!

The difficulty in completing this task is about the same as cleaning the inside of the windshield of your vehicle. If you can do that then you can install this hitch. I used a farm jack inserted into the receiver and just jacked it into position and walla. A total of 45 minutes which included fetching the jack and positioning it. Piece of cake. This is a really nice hitch with a sweet thick gloss paint job on it that will last longer than me I bet. It looks like a factory job but twice as strong as what comes with my truck at the factory. I'm really stoked at how it came out. Did I mention I'm 66 y/o ? I haven't taken time for pics. I'm already using the hitch pulling logs for my firewood business. I'll send some pics of all the jobs I intend on doing this year once completed. Thanks to Ian at etrailer.com for all of his help and advise. He's a real gem and I so appreciate his knowledge in this business.

This is an early review since I just got it installed. I bought this receiver as a replacement for the stock receiver that rusted out that came on my 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. The price was too perfect to pass up. It looks extremely well built and I look forward to testing it out soon as this lockdown on travel is lifted. I'll try to come back and update my review once I run it for a while. At this point though I am very pleased with what I bought. Overall very happy.

Easy install. I did a bumper replacement at the same time that I was installing this hitch, and it was super easy. Feel way more secure towing with this over the stock setup.

- 14301
by:

Heavy but easy to install. Came with Grade 8 bolts which was a nice plus. Powder coated but serrated nuts should help make good contact. If your trailer lights don’t work you will need to add a ground wire until the coating in the receiver breaks down and contact can be made through the receiver.

This trailer hitch was perfect for my truck. My old one had rusted and I found this one on line. Couldn’t of been happier with the product and how fast it was delivered.

I had a difficult time finding this locally-Had hours of conversations with local dealers. My order here was complete in under 5 minutes, it was absolutely clear what I was ordering, and it arrived about 4 days later exactly as ordered.(this doesnt happen as often as it should over the last year for sure.) I was kept up to date on the progress of my order. I will go here first next time. It fit perfectly and I installed it in 30 minutes by myself.

This hitch is nearly 3x thicker than what came OEM on my '07 Silverado 1500. Years of towing on the unforgiving roads of the Northeastern USA had beaten that OEM hitch into submission, peening the receiver pin hole oval. Rust was also eating away at it at the same time. There is much less clearance in the receiver box than there was on the OEM - this is a GOOD thing. That sloppy OEM beat itself to death from day 1. The only gripe I have is the packaging - I would have preferred the corrosion resistance of an unblemished factory paint job, but this one got beat a little. Other than that, very pleased with it.

- 14301
by:
2010 Chevrolet Silverado

Heavy duty hitch. Installation is very straight forward with the included hardware. Packaging could have been better. The box was a lot bigger than the hitch and there was no filling to keep the hitch from moving inside the box. When I received it, the box was torn in many places since the hitch was moving inside the box during delivery. No damage to the hitch however.

I went through etrailer when I needed a trailer hitch for my old Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the service was great from them. So naturally, I ordered my new trailer hitch for my new Chevy Silverado through etrailer as well. Their instructions and installation videos make installing your new trailer hitch on your own quick and easy. I would recommend etrailer to anyone looking for a new trailer hitch!

This hitch weighed twice as much as the stock hitch that was thin tube metal. The black coating looks great and very resistant to rust. One year later it still looks great and strong

Receiver arrived in minimum time, box was compromised, but all was well secured inside. After a few choice words while removing the factory mounted receiver, this baby went on and fits prefect. this receiver is well made and heavy, the factory receiver rotted out but I have no doubt that this one will not! She's a brute, a two person or an Olympic weight lifter to get into place. Instructions were well written, easy to follow and a perfect fit. Etrailer has always exceeded my expectations, and this time was no exception. Quality product, quality service and a sincere pleasure to do business with. Thanks once again!

I haven't towed with it yet, but I just finished installing the hitch receiver I bought and it was easy. I'm not a professional, but I borrowed the sockets needed from my cousin. I did it myself in 40 minutes (much of that time was just taking my time to ensure I did it right). My order confirmation came with extremely helpful how-to videos that made for the easy installation. The hitch receiver looks very sturdy and should do the job.

heavy duty product, didnt think i would get new hardware which was cool... only issue i had was it was sooo close to the spare tire and kinda a pain to install... but other than that bolted right up and was good... clean look

Hitch was bent and didn't line up on frame. Searched online for a remedy. I guess this company has just told customers to bend it themselves. I'm now having to go to an auto collision center to see if they can bend it. Don't go with these guys - amateurs who can't properly ship their stuff. I'm not the first customer to have this issue - bad on me for not reading into the reviews... but seriously, you put forth some money to figure out a proper way of shipping? How much are you giving up in opportunity cost due to disappointed customers? Ridiculous.

Great price and fast (as usual) shipping. Installed, by myself, in less than 10 minutes...Only complaint...this one's receiver sits 1" lower than my stock receiver, so due to my "happy medium" hitch height to clear my driveway

it is better then one that was on the truck from new, it was easy to have installed. it has a better design then the one that was on the truck originally

Ask the Experts about this Curt Trailer Hitch

  • Replacing OEM Hitch On 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 - Class IV
The factory hitch that came with your GMC Sierra 1500 was at least a Class III and possibly a class IV depending on what trim level you have. Looking at the available products as well as your specific application and towing needs, I recommend replacing your OEM hitch with the Curt Class IV Hitch # 14301 which has the 1000 lbs TW and 10000 lbs GTW you're looking for. I would caution you to give more consideration to a weight distribution hitch instead of a pure bumper pull, based upon...

  • Replacement Hitch for 2011 Chevrolet Silverado
The pin hole in a hitch can round out, and though it is not a common problem it is something that we have seen happen. In terms of the difference in hitches for your 2011 Chevy Silverado, the higher the class rating the more heavily constructed the hitch is. The Curt class V # C15323, for example, weighs 67 lbs while the class IV # 14301 weighs 53 lbs and the class III # 13322 weighs 31 lbs. That means the thickest material is going to be on the class V, but that may be overkill; I recommend...
