Excellent product. This will be my fifth installation on various X5's going back seven years. Nice heavy duty construction and perfect fit. I pull a 5000 lb boat and trailer with it. I will be purchasing the sixth for a friend next week. 369430

This is absolutely best hitch on market, 100% safe and fits just like OEM. Thanks to videos and instructions I was able to install myself in less then an hour. 460086

My dad and I installed this hitch within a few hours from arrival of the hitch. The u-tube video was extremely helpful (even though I found a few small details to be different on my particular x5). Even though I'm not mechanically inclined, I think I could have done this on my own with the help of the video and the right tools which my dad owned (I don't!). Definitely recommend! Installing myself saved several hundred dollars at least, maybe up to $400. 372400

A very robust and well built hitch, easy to install and for the most part straight forward. My only issue was the box was completely destroyed upon delivery (hitch was hanging out and hardware exposed) and I feared the $180 harness I purchased along with it were long gone along with the hardware to install it. Lucky it was all in the box but I am sure it had fallen out several times in route as the box was about 40% missing. 487378

I have installed the receiver hitch but have not used it. So far, I would give it a 4 stars. I do have input about the directions from Curt: Under installation Requires, CURT omitted the need for a 19mm deep socket for the nuts the provided and they don’t mention the 18mm socket needs to be a deep socket If installing on a Msport version of the X5, you need to remove (3) of the plastic rivets from the wheel well to expose the 8mm fastener, not (2) If installing on a Msport version of the X5, access to the clip on the back side of the reflectors, that need to be removed, to expose the 8mm fasteners in very difficult to get to. Other suggestions on how to remove the reflectors is needed. The instructions should also include the following direction: If you are planning on installing a wiring harness, do so prior to installing the hitch. Curt should also provide direction and the suggested mounting hardware for 7-way/4-way trailer receptacle for the vehicle the specific hitch is made for. 594160

This kit was great and functions exactly as intended. With the help of the online video it was easy to install, even for people without any electrical knowledge. My only advice is: 1) watch the video and the hitch installation video at the same time. This will help you plan ahead and not re-install parts during the hitch installation, that will need to be removed for the harness installation 2) be VERY careful about selecting the right wires, by using the testing tool eTrailer provides. In the install video for my BMW X5, the technician referenced a yellow and black wire when making the initial connection. He later goes on to make a separate connection for a black and yellow wire. To the novice they look nearly identical. I confused the two wires and had to re-do this, but would not have been an issue if I had understood the distinction and used the testing tool, as recommended in the instructions 3) be careful about placing all connectors so that they face in the same direction. Does not impact function, but makes for a neater install when complete. I could not be happier about how this project turned out, and credit etrailer with all of the success. It has a very OEM look, and etrailer made the entire project doable for me through their great suite of videos and excellent Customer service. I wish every retailer could be this good! 638186

I purchased the Curt Hitch for my 2010 BMW X5 35d from etrailers. The shipment was received promptly and without any hassle. The installation was strait forward and accomplished in 2 hours working alone. I found the YouTube videos as the best reference to the installation. I also purchased the Tekonsha ZCI wiring kit to finish off the install. This is a great kit that uses sensors that clamp onto the wires eliminating splicing altogether and a control module to operate the trailer lights. It is truly an amazing kit. It took me another hour to add the harness and once again, I used You Tube to prep for the job. Both purchases combined had everything included to add a the hitch receiver to my Bimmer without any trips to the store for parts. Five stars on both products... 267516

This contraption took My about 180 minutes to install. Was able to complete job with no extra parts or questions. Instructions were vague because it tried to cover all makes and production years of X5's. One improvement would be to supply 6 plastic body rivets instead of 4 as the instructions say to drill out six and to get the option of getting a color to match the trim. We were supplied Black for a white Beemer. 80% of the whole installation is dealing with the bumper facade. 428491

I read the E70 M Sport would not accept a hitch without major surgery to the skirts, and saw some real butcher jobs. Well, I needed a hitch so I ordered this Curt. Very time consuming installation, but not difficult. Minimal cutting required and a very neat install. Recommended A-1! 876469

God product from Curt, and etrailer did a phenomenal job on the installation video. The paper instructions enclosed from Curt were not even worth it. I would suggest instead of trying to drill out the blank rivets with tires on, just snipping them off. Took a few hours with one person, but just take your time as not to snap something. Would recommend buying etrailer! 853455

It took a while to receive the hitch due to COVID-19 but finally arrived. I used the installation video from the website and it was the same car as mine. Removing the bumper I took my time and followed step by step on the video. I tend to brake stuff when I rush. Installing the hitch was easy. I made the cut on the bumper 2.5” instead of 2.25” as stated because it was sitting better and less pressure on the bumper. Reinstalling the bumper was just the reverse of taking it off. I really appreciate the included push pins for the flares vs rivets. I had actually gone out to purchase a rivet gun but didn’t need to use it. The whole process took about 2 hrs. 819007

Quick delivery, install video was super helpful (written directions were not). Install was pretty straightforward with just a few exceptions: trim & bumper fascia is kinda tricky to remove and re-install (not as easy as pro hands in video); I did not have to trim the bumper fascia as per the instructions (happy for this), it fit as is; the included nuts for the hitch bar are 19mm, not 18mm like the ones removed, but this isn’t mentioned anywhere in the directions and I only heard the video state it in passing after watching multiple times- a simple oversight in the directions that would be nice to know when you’re trying to place a heavy bar & secure it without the proper tool. Overall, great buy and great support by eTrailer.com 807033

by:

This is an incredibly well built product, much heavier duty than I expected it to be. The installation was not horribly difficult. I’d suggest watching the videos a couple of times before you attempt to remove the bumper skirt. The only thing lacking in my opinion is the fact that it only comes with 4 total replacement plastic rivets. You have to drill 2 out on each side and I was as careful as possible but on both sides the head popped off of a 3rd rivet, leaving me needing an additional 2. Still, a great product at a great price. 806871

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2015 BMW X5 M Sport
For your 2015 BMW X5 M Sport model, I recommend the Curt Class III Round Tube Receiver Hitch # 13077. This will require fascia trimming but will also allow you to get the maximum towing and tongue weight capacity out of your vehicle as the hitch is rated at 6000 lbs towing and 600 lb tongue weight. This is the only confirmed fit we have for your M model vehicle. A weight distribution hitch will help with the overall ride of the trailer and will help mitigate sway. I recommend the...

  • Do the Back-Up Sensors Need Removed To Install Trailer Hitch On 2014 BMW X5
The installation of a trailer hitch such as the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13077 which is what I recommend for a 2014 BMW X5 will require you to remove the rear bumper fascia which does house the reverse sensors. That said, the sensors themselves will not be removed rather left on the bumper.
