1969 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup

Installed this on my 69' C-10 LWB about 1yr ago and have had very good success with it. As I recall it was a little more difficult because I set it forward a little more than normal and had to drill a couple holes. It wound up being almost a hidden hitch. Hitch appears to be well built with good looking welds. I have used this to tow 22' Ski boat on numerous occasions without any issues. 659203

After another year the hitch is still performing as it should with no issues.

I am very pleased with the trailer hitch. I installed it myself and had no problems. It is well constructed and fits my 2016 Chevy Silverado very well. We will be using it to tow small and medium trailers around our ranch operation here in Florida. 570330

This hitch arrived way quicker than I ever thought it would. I ordered 3 items on the same day and the other two are still several days out. The hitch appears to be a quality piece. All of the welds look good and the paint is nice. It also came with all the mounting hardware and instructions. 479926

The hitch fit excellent upon installation. It still looks like a quality piece with no rust or paint peeling. I really couldnt expect a better hitch than this.

1996 Ford F-150

Despite it being listed for a 1996 Ford F150 6 cylinder with a step bumper it did not fit my truck. I am now purchasing a class 4 hitch that was told to me that it will fit on the phone by Preston. My complaint is, I am told that I have to pay for the return. This comes out to a penalty to me and it is not my fault. I would advise any future customers not to trust the computer listing. I am sorry to say that someone must call and get a human on the phone and not to trust the on-line listing. 501277

John, thank you for your review. This hitch part 13028 fits vehicles with a frame that is 34 inches wide outside to outside. If you have a 37 inch frame with your 1996 Ford with a stepstandard bumper I recommend part # 14001

This receiver hitch is very well built. I installed it this morning on a 1977 Chevy 3/4 ton, two wheel drive truck. I only had one installation issue. The hitch comes with washers to space between the frame and the hitch. You can not bolt it against the frame because of the rivet on each side fastening the rear crossmember to the frame. I wanted the hitch to have direct contact to the frame. I ground the heads off of the rivets then punched them out. I then drilled the rivet holes out to 1/2" along with the other four holes to mount the hitch. Now the center bolts go through the frame and rear crossmember making it just as strong if not stronger than factory. It takes a little more time but I think it makes a cleaner mounting job. A good product and great service from etrailers. 225168

Received the hitch in a couple of days of ordering, well packed. As the instructions stated, approximately one hour to install. It would not have taken that long, (about 50 minutes), but the old receiver had to be removed first. Well built, I believe I'll get as long a service out of this one as the last. Reason for replacement, could not remove hitch from old receiver, it was so rusted in, been in the receiver for 30 years, and I needed an adjustable hitch installed. I'll be sure to keep this one lubed some. Sorry, unable to post a picture, looks like the advertisement though. This was my second purchase from etrailer, will not hesitate to buy from again, should I need what they have. 124802

Hello JimWhen you installed this hitch, you mentioned that it was adjustable, was it adjustable by the width? Because Im not seeing where the adjustments are on the picture.

Jim meant that he needed to use an adjustable hitch or ball mount like part # 80412
Ball Mount Adjustable Fits 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver, 6,000 lbs
$107.42
. His old ball mount was frozen in the receiver of the hitch on the vehicle. The receiver hitch, the part that mounts to the vehicle, is not going to be adjustable.

Product and hardware are of good quality, only 1 hole on each side of my trucks frame lined up, so I had to drill more holes in the frame and line it up the best I could, also it didn’t clear the license plate frame on the bumper so I had to trim that about an inch, but in the end it looks good and feels secure, so I’m happy, I haven’t towed with it yet but I torqued the bolts up with a breaker bar so I’m sure it will be fine for a small boat. 546895

Comments
When installing a trailer hitch like part # 13028 it is necessary to use a torque wrench to get the bolts to the right tightness. It is important to tighten bolts to the specified foot lbs in the instructions to avoid failure. Many auto parts stores lend out tools so you will not have to buy one in most cases.

Installed on my 86 Chevy C10. Had to modify a few things but not terrible. There were some brackets that connected the bumper to the frame that needed to be removed. I took a picture of the bracket loosely attached for reference. Also had to drill out some rivets in a piece of metal that connects the two frame rails. I took a picture of me pointing at the spot where the rivet was. So had to drill 4 holes total. Overall not too difficult and is pretty well hidden under the truck. 654964

Put this on my 84 K10 the holes were off a bit on the frame and had to open them up with a die grinder bit. I also ended up grinding and popping out one factory rivet on each side for a better flush mount. The hitch looks great and very sturdy. 800969

Therefore, if the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13028 does not clear the rear bumper on your 1966 Chevrolet C10 then your only other option is to use the Curt 3-Piece Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C15511. • Dimensions of Hitch Opening of Curt Hitch #13028
The hitch tube of the Curt Hitch part # 13028 is going to be right at 4-1/2 inches below the frame it connects to and the opening would then be right at 7 inches forward of the rear most mounting hole. You'd have to compare that to your vehicle to determine where that would place the hitch opening relative to your vehicle.

The mounting holes of the Curt hitch # 13028 would be slotted enough to allow it to fit on your 1977 Chevy C/K Silverado that has a 35 inch measured frame. Most likely what you have is the exact style this hitch fits but due to the age of your truck it could have been in an accident or just the variances in the vehicles back then cause it to be unique. Either way worst case scenario you could drill new holes as needed.
