Just installed the Curt Class V Commercial hitch on my 2016 GMC Denali Dually replacing the OEM hitch that was less then optimum for the towing I do, Installation was straight forward my wife and I had it installed in little over an hour after removing the stock hitch. 870058

2019 Ram 2500

Mounting took a bit longer than I thought. Drilling the 2 holes in the frame at an angle was challenging but I was successful and am very pleased with the Curt Class V hitch. I just wish GM would have installed the class V because the 2500 HD trucks are designed for towing to begin with. This will add value to the truck when selling it in the future. The installed height of the OEM was about 16-1/4". The Curt Hitch was about 1" lower. I will be using my Blue Ox BXW2000 hitch SWAYPRO reciever. 660717

2018 Ford Edge

Overall I am very happy with this hitch. I think it is more sturdy and safer pulling heavy loads. Unfortunately there was more work involved in installation then the directions revealed. The hitch required 2 new holes to be drilled in each frame rail. To complicate this, one hole in the passenger side frame was on the edge of one of the bolt holes that mount the spare tire shield. This hole required the use of a drill bit and a rotary file. 611214

This hitch was easy to install myself with the help of a floor jack. I was very impressed with the etrailer website and how fast the hitch was delivered. I will be doing more business here for sure. 175407

I didn't think this required drilling, but perhaps I mis-read the description. It does require drilling 2 holes. Probably is you have to lift this 100lb monster into place to mark where the holes go, THEN pull it out of the way to drill the holes straight. After you put it back, you find that the 1/2 hole they tell you to drill doesn't fit the 9/16" hardware they sent. Of course 9/16" is bigger than most folks have in their drill set, so I spent an hour with a dremel to make it big enough. If the instructions were correct this would have taken half the time. The receiver itself does look the business. 174861

  • Comparing Draw-Tite Class V Trailer Hitch to Curt Class V for 2019 GMC 3500 Long Bed
The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2-1/2" # DT45511 does require drilling for installation. It also requires the OEM factory bumper and brackets and allows the full size spare tire. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V Commercial Duty - 2-1/2" # C15860 does not require drilling and does not require the OEM bumper or brackets. It is rated for the same capacities. Both are great hitches, you will just take more time installing the Draw-Tite...

  • Inside Measurement of 2-1/2 Inch Receiver for Trailer Hitch on 2013 Chevy Silverado
Without knowing the model number it simply is not possible to tell you with absolute certainty what size receiver you have, but the largest receiver size for aftermarket hitches for a 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500 or 3500 is 2-1/2 inches, such as what is on the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15860. That said, the inside of the receiver should only measure 2-1/2 inches, and even taking into account some variance hitch by hitch, one that measures 2-3/4 inches is particularly large. It seems...

  • Would Curt Hitch # C15860 Fit 2011 Chevy Silverado 3500HD and Increase Towing Capacity
There really isn't a way to safely increase the towing capacity of a vehicle as it's more than just the hitch of the vehicle's weight rating. The Curt hitch part # C15860 is a fit for your 2011 Chevy Silverado 3500HD and has pretty high towing capacity of 20,000 lbs so it would handle the weight of a 14k trailer. If your truck has a 14k capacity based on how it is equipped it would work well for you.

  • Will Curt Class V Trailer hitch C15860 Fit a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD
I checked with Curt and hitch # C15860 is listed in their application guide as a fit for your 2016 GMC Sierra 2500. The application guide is not the same as the fit guide. The application guide is more up to date and updated frequently. The fit guide on the other hand takes some time to catch up. I have linked a video showing an example installation of this hitch for you. The recommended ball mount for this hitch is # C45456. It takes a ball with a 1-1/4 inch diameter shank such as # 63840.

  • Troubleshooting Exhaust Rattle with a Curt Hitch on a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500
Exhaust rattle is fairly common problem with hitch installs that can easily be fixed. Since exhaust systems are designed for slight movements they don't always sit in the same spot on every vehicle, so when a hitch is designed for a vehicle the hitch might sit close and not rattle on one vehicle, but on another vehicle the clearances might be different and the exhaust might hit the hitch. To see how to address the exhaust rattle you are experiencing check out the video I attached to...

  • What Should Clearance Be From Bed Rails to Fifth Wheel
The 4,400 lb tandem axles you have are supporting a very similar weight and trying to get these to support exactly the same weight consistently would be pretty tedious and not particularly beneficial. The 220 lb difference is perfectly fine so I would concentrate on making sure you tow as level as possible, which is going to be the best thing for you to for even suspension wear. If you take a look at the accompanying photo you can see that you need 5" to 6" for clearance from bed rails...

  • Recommended Truck To Tow Winnebago 2455
It looks like the the Winnebago Minnie 2455BHS loaded weight is 7,000 lbs so you would need a truck that can tow well over 7,000 lbs. That is the number I found for the 2455BHS so you may want to double check and make sure that is the model you are looking at. We normally recommend a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck to tow but if the 1/2 ton has the right towing capacity then it can do the job. The most popular towing trucks are Ford Super Duty F-250/F-350, Ram 2500/3500, Chevy Silverado 2500/3500...

  • Does a Hitch With a Higher Capacity Than the Tow Vehicle Increase Towing Capacity
When it comes to towing components like hitches, you're always going to be limited to the capacity of your lowest rated components; so adding a higher rated hitch to your vehicle isn't going to increase your towing capacity or the payload. From what I was able to determine with my research, the towing capacity of your 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with a 6.0L engine is 13000-lbs and the payload capacity is going to be somewhere between 3000-lbs and 3500-lbs depending on your trim package....

  • Class V Trailer Hitch for 2018 Chevy Silverado 3500 Cab/Chassis Truck
Because Cab/Chassis trucks have a narrower 34 inch frame width than the pickup, the Curt # C15860 Class V hitch won't fit your truck, as it'd designed for the wider frame member spacing of the pickup. We do have a Class V option that will work for you, though. The highest capacity Class V hitch we offer for the cab/chassis model is the Curt # C15400 which has a 17K towing/2550 lb tongue weight capacity.

I do have options for you but you cannot install two of part # C45796 together to get a total of 36". Doing so would completely diminish your trailer hitches weight capacity. The most cost effective solution I have for you would be to use part # RP45292 for 24"-34" or part # RP45018 for 41"-48". However, both of these options will require a 2-1/2" trailer hitch receiver like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C15860. The best solution I have for you to get a 36" hitch extension...

Just because they haven't seen it, doesn't mean that it can't be done, but it was noted that the Cantilever bar was not designed to carry an extremely heavy load-it was simply designed to help spread out the weight on longer loads.
