The product itself looks to be well built and a good quality product. As for the packaging and the shipping end that's not so great. As a lot of the reviews state the box was damaged and the hitch had some marks on it where it looks like it was dragged. I know the shipping is not the point of this review but boxing up the hitch could be done with better care. The box was way to big for the hitch and allowed it to move around in the box and puncture it, this exposed parts of the hitch to the outside. Luckily the fasteners were taped to the hitch so they were still in the box.

The hitch is solid, I did the install by myself and it took me about 1.5 hrs without a lift or any fancy tools to install it.That also included removing the rear trim for the bumper to access the hitch better and reinstall. Directions were pretty straight forward as a DIY person with mechanical experience. We have used it numerous times and its a really good hitch and well priced and well built. The only thing I didnt realize when I installed it is how low it sits compared to the OEM for $700. We have draw bars that bring the trailer up to level so not an issue, and it doesnt drag on the ground when leaving a sloped driveway like our old mini van did.

@Jason Great to hear you are happy with the receiver. Thank you for giving us an update on your experience.

The hitch works great but the shipping is lacking. The box was heavily damaged and it scraped off paint off of the hitch. Cant blame etrailer for shipper mishandling but the hitch could have been packed with extra protection on the corners. I can't imagine I'm the first to complain about hitch paint being chipped off due to shipping. Everything else was great; all hardware intact, how-to videos very helpful, easy to install.

2023 ChevroletEquinox

The hitch assembly itself seems sturdy and will work as intended. The installation was horrible for a few reasons.
-The website says no drilling required and that is a lie. The access hole is not large enough to get the bolt hardware through, so I then had to go buy a $60 (1 1/8") step drill bit to make it larger.
- I was installing this on a 2023 Chevy Equinox and I ran into an issue with installing the bolts in the wrong holes on the driver side because there are 4 holes, where as the passenger side has three holes. I ended up picking the wrong one and had to rerun two bolts. It is very difficult to get the bolt hardware back through the access opening. Then you are forced to take the fish wire string off the bolt so you can run it to the correct hole, and it does not thread as nicely the second time.
-The directions do not say you need to slide the driver side hitch into a small channel on the car frame, so that the rest of the bolts holes will match up and the hitch will be level. I got one bolt started on the passenger side first, only to find out I would have to take it off and correct this. This lead to having to thread the fish wire once again back onto a bolt, and it is very difficult to do without the bolt trying to slide up and get lost in the frame.
-The third issue I ran into was due to the second and third time use of the fish wire and getting the bolt and fish wire to fit in the holes of the hitch frame. I ended up having to use the step drill bit to make the hole bigger to have enough room to get the bolt with fish wire to drop down through the opening. I could have risked it and taken the fish wire off the bolt, but if it got knocked up into the frame then it would be gone forever.

In conclusion, the hitch quality seems fine but the installation directions were terrible and led me down a bad path with not disclosing that driver side channel in the car frame that you must slide the hitch into first. I'll take ownership of putting the bolts in the wrong holes on the driver side. My hope is the instructions can get updated with all my feedback to help the next person. Lastly, I think the hitch is very low to the ground and I hope I do not ruin my $2000 bike rack when pulling into a parking lot that has a severe transition from the highway.

This hitch does call for the access hole to be enlarged to allow for the hardware to pass through. I recommend taking a look at the video install that we have on a 2023 Chevy Equinox.

The towing hitch recever, which is very strongly built, fit perfectly on my 2018 Chevy Equinox LT. My son and grandson installed it in about 1 3/4 hrs.

I use your hitch receiver on my 2018 Chevy Equinox constantly with my carrier. Works perfectly and is a time safer when loading my vehicle for trips.

2024 ChevroletEquinox

This is my second hitch order from etrailer and everything from order to installation was as good, or better than the first! The install videos are spot on and the the instructions and accessory kit match perfectly - I could have completed the install blindfolded. Thanks Again.

by:

This hitch receiver required that the the holes in the frame that you used to insert the backing plates for the bolts be reamed out before they could be inserted. It wasn't hard but it was one additional step that wasn't needed with the Class 3 DrawTite hitch. The DrawTite hitch was out of stock when I made this purchase. Overall I am very satisfied with this Curt Hitch Receiver.

Looks good, installation was smooth with help from the video.

Etrailer needs to ship worthwhile, why should your best income be going down? Let me know when my missing parts will arrive at my home to finish installing the hitch I paid for upfront.

2020 GMC Terrain

The shipping was fast! I ordered thos on a Tuesday and it arrived at my doorstep on Thursday afternoon. As some others have indicated, the box was a little damaged but to no detriment to the product. The installation video was perfect and was a very accurate depiction of how to install this product. It was a little difficult to do on my own due to the weight but a floor jack really helped. I would definitely recommend this website!

Shipping was fast. Product well built. Install video was spot on as what you need to do to to make the install go smooth. Second hitch purchased from etrailer, definitely my go to from now on.

by:

This is one of the best kits I’ve ever seen. High quality, quick shipping, with clear and detailed instructions.

by:

Heavier than I thought. Installation wasn't quite as easy as shown in the video.

by:

One year with the hitch and it’s done it’s job! I am a mountain biker and have been able to carry up to four bikes. Haven’t had any issues or complaints.

by:
2022 ChevroletEquinox

Easiest installation of any hitch I have installed. Also the quality of this hitch is very good. Glad I used this company for my equinox.

by:

Came as described with hardware and instructions. Installed it yesterday.

by:

It is performing well after a year. The improvement would be to have all three of the mounting holes on the one side elongated. I could not get one of the bolts in, I was okay because I am not pulling a heavy load.

by:

2022 GMC Terrain. Hitch fit perfect. Put all bolts and washers in first before lowering exhaust. Took 30 minutes. Only thing not mentioned on installation video was if you have the hands free lift gate- have to get the exhaust hangers around it to lower and raise. Now it just shows a light not the GMC logo but the lift gate works fine.

It was a very easy install for doing it in my driveway by myself. This is my first time using Curt so we will see how it goes over time. This is my third install so I’m getting rather good at it. Now I can get my kayak back out.

by:

Good quality, easy to install and easy to follow instructions. Fits vehicle perfectly.

by:

Hitch was a perfect fit, I did not have any problems with the install. After a year, it still looks good and has no rust.

by:

Shipping was extremely fast and hitch was perfect.

by:

Watched a video and installed the hitch and lights with no problems.

  • Recommended Hitch for a 2024 GMC Terrain
To add a hitch to your 2024 GMC Terrain, I recommend the Curt item # C77FR. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your GMC with included hardware. This is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 4,500 lbs towing capacity and a 675 lbs maximum tongue weight. I really like the Curt hitch item # C77FR because the crosstube mounts behind your rear bumper cover leaving only the 2" receiver exposed. This not only looks better but it helps with ground clearance. If you are planning on...

  • Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver For A 2024 Chevy Equinox
Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C77FR is a compatible fit for a 2024 Chevy Equinox, regardless of the trim package. This hitch has a 675lb tongue weight capacity and 4,500lb gross towing weight capacity. You'll want to verify the capacities of your Equinox though so that you don't overload it. Unless your 2022 Chevy Equinox has the 2.0L Gas Engine with V92 Trailering Provisions, which is rated for 3,505 pounds towing, all other options will be rated to 1,500 pounds towing. The tongue weight capacity for all versions, including the 2.0L with the V92 package, will be 350 pounds, so both the Curt Class III # C77FR with the 2" receiver and the Class II # C98CR with the 1-1/4" receiver will be limited to these capacities.
